I am stock rooted on li3. Received li3 ota and was not rooted at the time. I rooted usjng qbking77 method. I tried doing a nandroid backup but it failed on the data backup. It said short write. I tried fixing permissions but that didn't help. Any ideas? I noticed that the date of the folder in cwm folder is dated 1970. Thanks in advance.

Hi guys,
So I'm a noob so don't stab me or anything. But I have just rooted/flashed my s3 with frosty jb. I did make a backup of the stock rom. However, when I did the back up I had a HUGE cache from google music, like 1.5 gb. So when I tried to get my data restored it kept failing. I have sifted through some other threads that direct people to unzip the data.tar and then remove some files and rezip it. And I did do this and deleted all of the music cache. Even after I rezipped it, put it back in the backup directory, and redid the whole md5sum it still doesn't work and says failed to restore data. :crying:
Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
Try Mobile Odin.
Search it here on xda for a free version and instructions, or get pro on app store.
I highly reccomend pro.

Does that mean I can use the original 2.4gb data file?
Use a cache cleaning app before backing up. Like App Cache Cleaner (has a free version), or SD Maid.
Actually, Im not sure it will work, but could be worth a shot. With mobile odin it doesn't have to be zipped. Just point to the .img file.
This is a nandroid backup I'm assumin so you will have to restore it using the same recovery as before. Cwm won't restore twrp backups and vice versa. Usually the recovery version won't matter, but if your having problems try restoring with the exact same version you made it with.
When you stripped it down, did you rmtry it without adding the md5 back? Again not sure if it'll work but you could try....

Ok so I did make a nandroid backup using CWM. After I got rid of the files that I didn't need I deleted the md5 and reassigned it using the whole android terminal commands. But now it doesn't fail once it reaches 2gb in the restore process. It just fails to start /data restore.
Try renaming it to data.img and flash in mobile odin (you can find with a quick search)
Or archive it into a .tar and try regular odin. Never tried this so don't know if it'll work or cause issues. It will trip your flash counter with the pc odin method.

Hey guys,
So the other day, ISIS came out for the 1747, and I wanted to try it out. Unfortunately, it won't work on a rooted S3. I unrooted it and did a data wipe with the stock recovery. I rooted it again after trying ISIS and ran a batch backup of all user apps + system data. I began un installing apps after the backup was confirmed and now it will not let me restore those apps, saying the data is backed up but the app is missing. I've done it this was before so I don't know why it's not letting me restore them. And yes, the back up was completed and confirmed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

can you attach screenshot of backup/Restore page of titanium backup?
and have you check size of titanium backup folder?
Sir I also had taken a backup from Cwm recovery mode however as soon as I went to paranoid the restoration process showed no files present there.

You don't have any backup on device
Have you wiped device?
I think you have lost all backup when you have factory reset
It is advisable to make backup storage on ext sd card

Go to preference and then go backup location. Then click on detect and search whole device. Once located just Click on it and it will show up on the restore menu.. If you backed up on your external memory or internal memory without formatting it during the installation then it should be there.

I been having issues trying to backup and/or restoring my rom. Ive tried internal and external but as soon as I swipe to restore or backup, it immediately takes me back to the twrp home menu. Am I doing something wrong or should I reflash twrp?
The last time I tries to restore jedi x11 it just kept saying failed no matter if I put it in int or ext. Ibjust had to flash the rim all over again along with all my apps. Please help. Thank you in advance.

Are you running on the latest twrp? if not, then update it. Also I find using google to restore works best.
I'm on twrp 2.6.3.7 and I've tried to update to 2.6.3.8 via goomanager but it's not working. Also, what is backed up during a nandroid back up? Is it just the system data and boot data? And how do I fix my nandroid back up dates and times? Thanks in advance!! Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
