I am trying to watch a streaming flash video on my Nexus using the stock browser. The phone screen keeps turning off as per its screen-off time. Is there a way to ensure that the phone does not go to sleep while watching video?

I am trying to watch a sporting event in the default Android browser. It is a flash stream. I have my Nexus hooked up to my TV through an MHL connector.I am hoping to find a way to keep the screen alive when the flash video plays.
I am on stock, but rooted.

Switch Pro has a "Keep Awake" toggle. Others probably to to.
I use wake timer.
i use screen timeout app and its perfect for me
i had that same issue and on almost every phone. i had no screen timeout i hate when the screem goes dark. when i use my phone i need it on when i don't use it i lock it no battery drainage etc.
Also keep screen on while charging in the settings is a fix too. Although a toggle is a lot more convenient.
Is there a smart stay type app for the Gnex?

Anyone having problems with their browser not auto fitting pages? Sometimes it does it but it won't adjust when I zoom back in or out... anyone have a fix or at least having the same problems?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I read if you tap the screen it will auto reflow
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Awesome! I didn't see that anywhere. I have had this phone since launch day and have watched every video and read every article on it and I have never seen that tip anywhere! That was my only problem with the phone. Just to be clear it is a quick double tap that will auto fit the text

Thanks for confirming and clarifying

Of the many features Samsung included in the Galaxy S3, what is your favorite (or one of them) and why? Even if it isn't exclusive to the phone, I'm curious to know.
Personally, and I didn't think this would be one of them when I heard about it, I LOVE Smart Stay. I usually use my phone a lot to browse and read forums and other internet documents. My old phone was constantly turning off the screen while I read a long post. My Galaxy S3 never turns it off. One of the best features of the phone imo. It's all the little things that work together to make this phone so great.
So what is your favorite feature of the phone?

I also love Smart Stay, it just makes reading easier than having to constantly be touching the screen.
Personally, I love all the ICS and JB leaks I get to play with!!! Never seen a phone with so many so fast!

Other than full integration with my tv and palm wipe to capture, I don't really use any, not a fan of phone camera either

I would have to agree with the Smart Stay, it works great. Swipe capture and picture in picture are also on my list. I wish u could watch youtube videos with it though like u can do with the app Super video.

Screen size for me. 4.8 is my new "sweet spot".
Thank you Google, better late than never.
How is that even remotely necessary? The earpiece is on the top of the phone and the mic on the bottom.

Hey I am also running 4.2... but my call screen is still stuck in portrait. Is there an option to enable it?
Thanks!
Only saw it when in car mode in the car dock.
Not sure how to get into it any other way.

There is a car mode enabling app in play store just don't remember how it's called. This will make stock launcher and dialer rotate as well as apps list

I did it with an app called Rotation Lock (Adaptive) just select the option that says Force Auto.

I'm far from an expert I'll admit but pretty sure here in UK where I took the picture its 'Dialling' more often than 'Dialing', therefore correct.
Maybe not the same on the other side of the pond as per many other words.

"Dialling" is correct. "Dialing" is an alternate spelling.
Smart pause isn't working for me for some reason
I've tried going to a place with good-lighting and u tried opening my eyes as wide as I could, still didn't work.
I just restore my stock rom from the Infamous rom, and I flashed the tmobile kernel too. I was previously running ktoonsez. It's odd that it does take work.
Can anybody help?

So we all know the GS4 out of the box has some atrocious lag. Well I went through the steps to clear a lot of it out without rooting. Just stock, and changing some settings within the OS itself. But I was still noticing some small lag here and there. Well it turns out I put my GS4 on the charger and start using it, and I notice that there is significantly less lag, I unplug it, and then it goes back to usual lag. I have done this back and forth a couple of times, with the same results.
So could it be that Samsung ramps up the CPU when on the charger?
Sent from my SGH-M919 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Your power save could be on?
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 2
I never experienced lag on this phone until yesterday and I noticed google services was using uo my battery. Went to the google settings and there is a new option call android device manager and I unchecked all the location settings and lag gone. Also if you have google currents go into settings and disable background sync.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 2
Checked that and it's completely off. I wouldn't put it past Samsung do that, we've already seen them ramp up the processor and gpu for the benchmark rests, my guess is that they lower the clock speed when not charging or maybe below a certain percentage.
Sent from my GS4
No lag here. Sorry to hear that bro
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
It's not like it's everywhere, it's just in a few places, like hangouts, where my One never lagged, or sometimes a jitter when swiping through apps or home screens. Guess I'm just not used to it coming from the One. But there is a difference in performance when plugged into a charger and not.

Watch a movie on the one or play a game. Its night and day compared to the S4.
My cousin has the one. YouTube takes at least 2 more seconds, worse quality, and skips.
Games skip/lag, and loading time is longer for the One.
You gotta take the good with the bad with either phone.

That is true, the YouTube app is much more solid on the GS4. But one small thing is that I get this huge black bar at the top of my YouTube app when I switch from portrait to landscape. Anyone know how to fix that?

That's just the app itself. That's not even a problem. If something like that REALLY bother you, then you're EXTREMELY anal about things.
P.s. I think you're a ONE fanboy that came on here to put down the S4.
