About two or three months ago, I installed Hashcode's 7-13 version of Jellybean. I was having a great time with it, but after about 2 weeks of using it, it stopped charging. Ever since I have had bootloop issues, then I tried downgrading to ICS (GEDERom), and still had the same problems. And now finally, the Kindle has slowed to a halt. It stopped booting even when charging through a wall charger and a USB plugged in to my computer. I attempt to hold the power button, but no light comes on. Should I buy a new battery, or is there a software solution for this? And if there is not, would Amazon repair it if I sent it in? Thanks for replying.
EDIT:
Got it to boot in to FFF while plugged in to wall charger, but only lasted for a few seconds... Now in a smaller bootloop than ever before... UGH

What version of FFF is that? If that is any version of than 1.4a by Hashcode you should update; 1.4a has updated battery management for that exact issue.
Assuming that is an older version of FFF it's time to get your hands on a factory cable; boot from the factory cable into fastboot mode and update FFF, than plug into the wall charger. It still won't boot but if it's software it should charge at this point.
Edit: I'm going to report this thread to the Mods to try to have it moved to Q&A instead of general; hopefully you will get more assistance there.

There was a post on the same by on the of guys here.. suggest u try reading them (i guess u would have but nevertheless..)

I then charged it overnight and saw that there was some amount of charge to help me recover it and then it was fine
Please try and let me know if that helped

Okay so basically my Fire is rooted and currently running gedeRom latest ICS rom. It comes on to the blue kindle fire intro screen with the power button green NOT orange. It turns off by itself literally after two seconds. It won't charge via usb or the original wall plug. Let me clarify what I said last.... basically the power button doesn't light up at all when I try to charge my kindle fire. I can't access recovery or anything for that matter because it shuts off so fast when I try to turn it on. My battery did die before I can charge it, but as of right now the damn thing doesn't want to charge and I think it is fully charged at the moment regardless of whether it lit up or not. Every time my Fire is dead it shows that animation screen that tells you to charge it and not that blue intro screen. At this point I really need any assistance I can get and I am more than happy to upload a video of the fire or whatever because at this point I am absolutely clueless. The computer does not pick up on the Kindle Fire at all even when I try to turn it on and plug it in right after. Nothing happened to the device or I didn't try to install or flash anything. It simply just died from no battery left and now the damn thing is giving me more trouble than I have encountered previously. Please if anyone can help me or guide me through this I'd really appreciate it.
Your version of FFF should help prevent that. Have you tried leaving it plugged in with the stock wall charger for a few hours?
plug in to wall, this turns on kindle so then it goes in a power loop due to flat battery. the answer is, plug in to mains charger then hold power for over 20 seconds, this will turn off kindle but should leave it charging. next leave it overnight. ie. a good few hours
edit. the led is sometimes missleading, ignor.

Thanks guys that is exactly what I will do and I will report back if it worked or not. Once again I really do appreciate you guys taking out the time to assist me in this issue that has never happened before. At the moment I am currently working on a HTC flyer I just bought from a friend and now I have to find the HTC Scribe for cheap somewhere lol. Take care.
Still not working...
I can't access anything (Tried so many times to get into recovery or something that I lost count at this point) because it shuts off so fast. At this point I know for certain it is not a problem with the battery not being charged, but in the same breath I know for certain that I have never had a problem like this that was so extremely problematic. At this point I have lost all hope and think it is messed up even though it was working beautifully on Gederom's ICS rom before it fully died. I charged it for the whole night and now it won't show a charge light when I plug it in to the original KF wall charger or it won't link up or charge with my PC. It also won't turn on when I have it plugged in to the OEM wall charger and it doesn't light up when plugged in to charge. I do have an actual video of me with the device showing exactly what happens when I try to turn on. Just go to my youtube channel under the name fatjoejr2001 and watch the latest video I posted. If anyone can please help me get on track I would really really appreciate it and would be extremely grateful. Thanks
power it off and charge it via usb with your computer it will take some time so set your computer to not sleep while you charge
from whst you sre describing it acting like your battery is flat. (i know you say you used the stock charger) sorry to ask, but are you sure, does it say 1.8A on it?
can you use your charger on another phone etc (to test it).
the only other thing i can think of is your bootloader is screwed ie fff.
can you catch fastboot in the time its on?
type fastboot getvar in a terminal from where ever you have fastboot installed on your pc
it should say "waiting for device".
then switch on kindle. does it do anything in your terminal?
if its not the battery

Yes I am a 110% sure I am using the right charger and I cannot access recovery since it shuts down so fast. It doesn't show up on my PC when connected via USB and it won't turn on when either plugged in to wall charger or to my computer. I can't use Kindle Fire Utility or any such methods when the device will not function while connected to my Windows 7 desktop. I am just completely oblivious to what is going on because I have a htc flyer and Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 and nothing like this has ever happened where I can't recover some how. What can I do at this point? From what I am hearing people think it may be the bootloader, but how do I go about fixing this when I can't even access anything on the Kindle fire????

I've tried and to no success. I charged it again last night and am currently charging it again with my PC, but I know for sure that isn't going to work and that is not what is causing this issue. My device was working fine till the battery fully drained and died. Now it is just non-functional. Maybe I didn't have the proper TRWP installed for ICS or the right bootloader?
ok if its dead you should try the fire kit
but it involves making a ubuntu flashdrive and booting with a script on the root of the flash drive, then taking off the back cover and shorting a pin out instide whilst inserting the usb cable. it sounds scary but its not too bad if you follow the instructions exactly.
(no shortcuts).
i will dig out the thread for you.

just take your tme and follow it.
if you need any help let me know where abouts you are in the process and what is going wrong.
this will work as it doesn't even need the battery connected.
it resets your partitions, reinstalls twrp &reinstalls fff.

I can't turn it off, the kindle is already off because it is dead. When i plug the charger in, it automatically turns on and it dies during the bootanimation and repeats..
The kindle shuts down before he will have time to power it down and let it charge. I just spent the last 48 hours battling this same thing.
Your options from what I can see:
1. Buy another stock Kindle charger.
2. Find another 5v charger you have laying around with at least 1.8A. If it's a micro-usb, just use that to try to charge the kindle. If you have a 5v charger with at least 1.8A that isn't for a micro-USB device:
3. Get your non-micro USB charger and a spare micro usb cable. Cut off the end of the charger (Right before the part where it connects to the device), open the cable's casing, and look for black and red wires. Strip these. Now, cut the end off of your USB cable that connects to the computer. Open the casing, look for black and red. Strip. Now, connect red from the charger to the red of the USB cable. Likewise with the black. Intertwine the fibers; make sure it's secure. Cover the newly joined part of the cable (wheree the wires are exposed) with electrical tape to keep the red and black from touching. Try to charge the kindle now. Leave it plugged in for hours; it may take this long for it to work.
If you can't charge the kindle as described above, I have one more method, but it's risky and it will definitely void your warranty if you haven't already done so (unlikely). I had to resort to this method tonight, having no idea of whether or not it would work. But thankfully, it worked and my Kindle is now finally charging. This is a last resort, however.

Do you know if this makes the Kindle Fire absolutely impervious to the low battery booting issue? Does FFF 1.4 fix it completely?
If I were to completely drain my battery as much as I could, would it still boot after I plugged a charger in?

last time I tested it my battery was at 1% I didnt get the please wait battery to low warning but I believe it did what it was intended to do previous tests proved that its completely effective on my daughter kindle a few month before just plugged it in and finally it booted by itself took about 15 mins for it to gain enough to boot, but it could take several hours on usb charge if its totally drained to the bone. Nothing is impervious

if you have fff 1.4a simply power it off and plug it to your computer to charge leave it alone for say a few hours then try again
Your kf may be turning on but can't start the system. You should holding the power button in 20s. The kf will be turned off. You just pluggin your charger to charge its.
You can unbrick your kf by many way. Search in this forum to find a right way for your case.

Will this method work on the kfhd too?
So occasionally if I'm up too late, I don't hear my alarm (on phone). Well, I had noticed recently it got super warm to the touch if I overslept a bit, I think because it just buzzes constantly while plugged into the wall.
Anyway, it won't turn out now without direct power plugged in. Tried reformatting, wiping cache, everything.. I can get it plugged into the pc and booted up but as soon as I try to select media storage, it fails. Won't turn back on now even with it plugged in.
Any suggestions, did my battery just croak?

For real? Man, I'll be honest.. I had to break my flashing addiction, so I intentionally got an older Nex, so I could root, and leave it the F alone.. Haven't flashed a ROM since I owned it (bought it unlocked like 12 months ago), couldn't even tell you what ROM is/was on it..
Since when is it a bad thing to charge overnight? I adopted that habit when I went android. :/

well some phones don't have any problems with ovecharging but its not recommended nevertheless
heard some batteries were F***** up from overchargind
Same exact thing happened to me...thought the phone was fried. I replaced the battery as a last ditch effort and she lit up like a Christmas tree. And as for that last response, I leave mine on the charger all night literally every night without any negative issues. You cannot overcharge the battery on an android phone. They have protective charging circuits, just like laptops.

I'm hoping it's only that but wouldn't it fire up with wall charge? It freeze on the Google loading screen.. have a feeling it's cause I wiped it and maybe it didn't finish.
EDIT: Okay, I obviously was a bit messed up earlier.. I factory wiped it, including the OS.. how can I jump an OS onto this thing if it won't boot without charge?
Okay, well the symptoms sound exactly the same as when I fried my battery. At first, mine would only boot with a wall charge, but then it stopped doing even that. The only thing I could get into was the boot loader. I'd try a new battery before worrying too much. In the meantime, however, can you see if the phone is being recognized by a Windows PC, or if you can get the bootloader? If it is bricked, there is a bit of software called OMAPFlash that i used once that can completely reset the phone's programming.

If you just wiped the OS from recovery you should still be able to boot into fastboot. Are you able to boot into fastboot (power+volume up+volume down)? If so then it is not hard to fix.
If you can't boot into fastboot, try:
1) Without battery, plugged into wall (try a different charger)
2) Without battery, plugged into computer
3) With a different USB cable.
Does it vibrate when turning on? And does it go into fastboot?

When I plug it in, the initial charging indicator comes up (Battery with lightning bolt), but won't otherwise turn on via holding power.. or get into fastboot at all. If I plug it into my pc, it initially shows the power indicator again but same deal. Interestingly enough tho, my pc makes the sounds it makes when it's syncing or installing usb drivers for something.. except it starts, then stops, then continues.. it's non-stop trying to sync but nothing is happening, it's almost as if it's getting either a partial charge/connection and then it stops. What I thought before was a battery I'm thinking is worse cause I can't get the thing on at all now. :/ Might be time to hit Verizon today..
It was the battery but now I have no OS on the phone.. UGH. I can't get it into storage mode to pull a new ROM over from PC to flash. Anyone know how to force a ROM over via adb?

Hey guys,
I have an issue with the V500. I have since gifted the tablet to my wife and she let the battery run out. For the life of me, I cannot get the tablet to recharge or boot into recovery. The thing has been sitting on a charger for a day and half now. Is this a common occurence?
The tablet is rooted and TWRP recoveried.
It's running Slim ROM.
I have tried everything, is there something I am missing?
Thanks
I have had an issue like that with another device and I had to plug it into a computer instead of a normal charger. I theorized at the time that the slower charging from the computer was what allowed the battery to recover. I have no idea if this will help but it did manage to bring my kindle fire back from the battery dead.

Are you using the cable and charger that came with the G Pad? Try a different cable and charger.
Long time reader, first time poster. I've been coming here for years for all my Kindle needs, but unfortunately I'm a bit stuck, and I'm asking for some help.
So I have an original Kindle Fire. Back probably in 2011 or 2012, I rooted the device and installed a custom ROM. I didn't exactly know what I was doing, but I read some tutorials and followed them carefully, and everything seemed to work fine. I avidly used it until I bought newer devices. I ultimately lost interest in it. It traveled with me from house to dorm to apartment.
Now just recently I get it out, and the thing won't start. Completely dead. The screen won't light up; the button doesn't glow; it is completely unresponsive. From what I've read, this seems to indicate that my "bootloader and recovery ... are broken".
Following some other help threads on xda, I was ultimately directed to pokey9000's Firekit LiveUSB repair kit, where I installed Ubuntu, opened the Kindle, performed the "USB Boot Shorting Trick", and through FireKit, managed to successfully send USB-Boot commands to the Kindle:
the Kindle powers on and displays a yellow triangle with fire logo inside of it. The kindle says something along the lines of "press power button for recovery", but that doesn't do anything.
On my computer, FireKit hangs at <Waiting For Device>, and nothing happens.
I feel like I'm so close to fixing it, I can't just give up. But I honestly don't know how to proceed; I'm stuck and asking for help.
I take it, the yellow triangle is an old version of FireFireFire. Does this mean I'm in FastBoot? Ostensibly, shouldn't I be able to reboot into Windows and use a tool such as Kindle Fire Utility or Kindle Fire Unbrick Utility to send fastboot commands, and fix any problems from there? Because that doesn't seem to work.
Willing to throw some Walmart or Dunkin' Donut e-gift cards your way if you can point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advanced. :good:
I'm guessing that the battery is dead, and that is all.

Nah, I left it in the corner of my bedroom plugged in all by itself, just pressed the power button a few times a week to see if it would power on. Only tried the one charger, which charges other devices just fine. Seems to be a 'high-power" charger because on a working Kindle, I do not get the message "Connected to Low-Power Charger".
I'm pretty sure the battery is charging. A few weeks ago I usb-booted and left it sit at the (fff?) yellow-fire-triangle, device unplugged and screen constantly on. It stayed that way for at least an hour, before I manually turned it off. So that would lead me to believe the battery is in good shape, and the USB port is fine.
Could give it another week or so with a different charger. Got nothing to lose, I suppose.
Thanks for your reply.

Have you tried using a Linux OS? I've seen lots of threads/posts all over XDA about how people can't get their device to work with Windows. Maybe you could grab a live version of some OS and put it and the binaries for adb and fastboot on a flash drive and boot from it. The only time I've ever had issues with my devices and Linux is just recently when I discovered a faulty USB cable (is your cable good?).
Perhaps it may be easier to just replace the motherboard. I did that when my USB port got wrecked. The best deal I've found is here: http://www.powerbookmedic.com/Kindl...-REGISTER----Good-Micro-USB-Port-p-27164.html If you don't intend to run Amazon's OS, then it doesn't matter that it can't be registered. If you do replace the board, be very careful of the data cable for the LCD; it is fragile.
