I cracked my sgs2 screen today and used the asurion insurance to replace my phone I was curious if I should flash back to stock before sending my phone to them. I know flashing custom Roms voids warranty but that is that only with Samsung or with the insurance program too.

I sent them two phones with custom roms never heard anything negative... the insurance company doesn't care..
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Ive sent to T-mobile and neither did they.
Could also vouch for T-mobile not caring. Sent in a bricked phone with CM once for a warranty exchange, no negative consequences.

Wow I always thought T-Mobile would deny warranty claims if they saw the bootloader flash counter being tripped.

Hi everyone well a while ago I put a huge scratch in my "chimp" glass haha and I'm sick off looking at it will sprint. Buff out the scratches I'm fully covered for cosmetic damage and nuclear war haha but does anyone think sprint wud buff out the scratch or shud I just crack the screen and get a new replacement screen?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
How deep/ large is the scratch? Last time I went there I think they said they don't fix scratches larger than an inch. The only thing they did was hand over the asurion insurance business card and told me to call them to just get a replacement phone since I had insurance for the thing
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
My scratch is circual and spans the entire screen its deep enough for me to feel it with my finger (not nail)
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Yeah your probably going to have to get a replacement phone from the insurance company.

That's like saying how can I reverse time, it ain't going to happen. I've even messed up during ODIN still got nothing.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
It is very difficult to brick this phone although travismoreno seems to be good at it. he bricked quite a few with bad cables during Odin. I have had Odin freeze many time especially trying to make an EL30 prerooted tar ( didn't happen). And no brick.

So you want to fully brick your Epic?
If so use odin as if your flashing a modem and check repartition. It should be bricked after that.

I'm trying to send my old galaxy back to Tmobile because I got a new one... it was rooted I don't feel like unrooting and installing a stock ROM.... So Id rather just brick it like a free throw from Shaquille Oneal in his prime...
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
flash an incompatible rom, just pick a random one...say an HD2 ROM
Just flash Any pit file thats not for the gs2
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
You can actually brick the damn thing and send it back to them isn't that telling them your phones rooted and it voids the warranty?

No because as far as they know, it was a hardware failure.
Damn so from now on I'll just brick it before I send it back lol cool hell I didn't know that
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
If you're going to flash just to brick it, why not just flash a stock rom? ... Oh well. Lol, brick away, install a tablet rom.

tmobile dont care if its rooted or not anymore.
my brother sent back his gs2 rooted for replacement without any issues and I just recently sent mine back aswell about a month ago. I got the text letting me know they got the phone ok and everything is good. I think they kind of figured if they continue to be hard on the root community we will just send a brick back to them and declare it a hardware issue..
My screen got damaged on my sg3 and i have the chance to buy a bricked one for 150 to change the screen but my question is , how much would it cost for samsung to fix the bricked one ?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
You can fix the bricked one for 60 on top of the 150 at mobile tech videos... Here is the link... http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-jtag-brick-repair/
If you send the broken one to samsung it will run you about 180 for a new screen. so decide which route you want. You don't have insurance?
Sent from my SGH-T999
no i dont have insurance as i use straighttalk.

I got my phone fixed for free under warranty. I had bricked my phone accidentally flashing an international rom and I took the chance and sent it in.

Can we be able to do that or do I need to un root it?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
Try it and let us know what happens. ...
But seriously, if you do some more research, youll find that 99% of the folks will tell you to put it back to stock to cover yourself and also so you dont run into any issues....+ its easy to do
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
You can also just Odin it and it will be factory fresh and with no root
Correct me if I'm wrong

Yep, only thing to check is your flash counter. Depending on how op rooted it could be tripped. Just boot into download mode and check it. If it's tripped use triangle away app.

Well I format the phone by accident and it was just stuck on bootloader and they still took it for full trade in but I know I got screwed but oh well I still use my note 2 from sprint

But I think even if you didn't format or unroot, they well still send back to factory reset themselves and the T-Mobile reps in store aren't exactly tech savvy
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
I agree with above posts to put back on stock to be safe....but I did buy the nexus 4, unlocked it, rooted it, and returned it within 2 hours (speaker and screen were horrible) and returned with aokp on it. They didn't even turn the screen on to check. Nor have I had T-Mobile give me any crap for it since. It's been 2 months so I think I'm clear lol

Can you use the factory reset to un-root the phone?
I have a busted up screen on my phone. My brother has a sprint note 2 that he has to send back to best buy because of a warranty issue.
It is a grey note 2 with a flawless screen. Is it possible to switch the two?

It's a warranty exchange anyway!! So they're going to refurbish the old phone anyhow. Most likely use it for parts. For the other refurb phones!!
Jmho.....

I know I sent a note 1 in for usb replacement and instead of sending me a refurbished the wanted to just fix my old phone and send it back due to screen damage... Just saying, you never know what I warranty department might claim.
