hello,
i recorded videos via the video camera (SIII AOSP Camera v1.62) and I do not get any sound/audio from video playback in the gallery.
I tried checking all my sound/volume levels and nothing worked.
I'm using AOKP 09/29 and AOSP Kernel 09/23.
anybody having the same issues?
anybody with a fix to this problem?
thanks!

Have you checked either thread of the ROM or kernel to see if the those are confirmed bugs? You can try either updating the kernel and/or ROM or go back to the stock ROM kernel of the aokp ROM to see if that fixes anything. Or if worse comes to worse, you can either flash a new ROM or go back to stock with Odin.

Thanks Bruce for your quick reply to my post.
I checked the thread but had no luck. I posted the question and problem I had in that thread and was told not to post that problem in the thread.. and to post in the Apps Section or Q&A section.
I will try to flash a new rom back to stock and trace my steps up as I flash new roms/kernels.
thank you!
I have this problem too. I flashed a few roms -- up to AOKP Koontz/Task Rom, and somewhere along the line, my camera app has no audio and all I hear is some constant white noise in the background. Exactly as you describe. Other apps' audio and mics work fine. I can't find a solution.

If you haven't fixed it yet, you can try a factory rest with Odin from the development stickies. Report back.

Hey all as the title suggests I'm on cm9 7/9 nightly. I've been playing with DSPManager for a while now (on other builds as well) and have yet to come up with any positive results. None of the settings in DSPManager have any effect at all. Is there some sort of prerequisite to using it? Any help at all is appreciated.

You aren't alone, because I too can't get DSP Manager to work. However, I can't get ANY apps that adjust the DSP settings to work on CM9. I personally have used AudioFX for quite some time on Gingerbread on my Galaxy S II LTE (called the Skyrocket on AT&T) and it worked fine on the OFFICIAL release of ICS from Rogers. However, it doesn't work on CM9. So the problem doesn't appear to be DSP Manager itself, but rather something in CM9.

How about the lack of kernel support at this time More than one thread on this, I read on yesterday. Though last time anyone really wasted their breath on the issue was around Alpha 3.

Figured it had something to do with cm9. The kernel not being supported makes sense. Should be rectified in the next couple days.

Tried it. Doesn't activate dsp manager. And what it does do I can replicate better with PowerAMP. And it doesn't affect in-call volume at all, which is what I was going for.
I just got volume+ from the developers website (full version for free) and it mostly works. There's a few ics bugs that they have to work out, but it does bump up the volume so I'm happy.

Has anyone else CONFIRMED that 3rd-party DSP apps (I gave the example of AudioFX, but you can try others) don't work on CM9 on the Skyrocket? So far I've not heard from anyone else providing collaboration of my observations. If you have an i727 or i727r running CM9 (or any other phone for that matter, seeing as this isn't even a Skyrocket thread), could you please install a 3rd-party DSP app and let me know if it works on your phone. Thanks in advance.

As said in my previous post, volume+ works mostly on cm9. It has a few glitches here and there, but it does increase the volume. I haven't had a chance to fully test it so I don't know what all is or isn't working.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
I believe the volume increase provided by Volume+ has nothing to do with the DSP chip. You need to test this on equalization, bass boost, etc. These are features provided by that chip.

Tested. EQ and volume control work for the speaker. Bass boost and echo/delay don't have any effect. Nothing works for bluetooth or headset. Oh, you can also change how many steps in the in-call volume. No volume boost though. For all this it would be better and easier just to use Poweramp. It works better.
The problem is I need equalization for all of my audio applications. This means that I need an equalizer that works generically rather than one that is built into a specific app. Virtually all of my music is played from Slacker Radio or TuneIn Radio, neither of which have built-in equalization.

Found a DSP fix for Motorola ATRIX 4G...
I play music via Bluetooth into car audio system and loved DSP in CM7.....I replaced joersaxx 1.3 faux kernel to stock 1.0....I found this link
and it worked like a charm!!! The first thing I noticed was it worked like in CM7 when the first menu was selection of output rather than straight to menu....I am going to try flashing a 1.3 kernel to see if it still works....
Thank you Yasir Idrees! I tried to post link....but I'm a noob!!! Go in to setting in /system/apps and set as per thumbnail.
Ok, not sure what is going on. On the 4th of July, it worked, now it doesn't.
Mods I have,
Wanamlite, Google wallet, tethering fix, volume fix.
Any ideas anyone? Camera works, just can't record video.
Have you tried flashing another ROM to make sure it isnt a hardware issue or flashing with odin back to stock?

I went ahead and upgraded to latest Wanamlite rom, and it is working again.
I don't know if it's just my phone or if others are experiencing it too. On every AOSP and AOKP ROM I tried, I always get an FC when i go to camcorder, choose SD 480 video quality and switch back to the camera. The message i encounter is "Unfortunately, gallery has stopped."
Happens to others as well. I suggest using another gallery.apk and replacing it. I have done this before myself a few times and it's works. Also on some roms when taking pictures the phone will just cut off if the battery is low. Some work good and some don't.

Thank you! Do you know where I could find another gallery.apk?
Change kernel or replace with older versions.

I've already tried changing kernels. This problem was persistent in cm10 stable, cm10.1 m3, and also on aokp build 6 and whitehawk's 4/27 nightly and on liquid smooth rc7.

How would you do that and do you remember what roms that method worked on?
TIA
I created a thread for this for SlimBean but I've found the issue is more widespread than that.
I'm on the RootBox 4.0.1 stable for I747 with the kt747 kernel.
The camera app doesn't pause after you take a picture when confirming if you wish to save it.
The preview in most cases is skewed if you rotate it and/or swap cameras.
When I take a picture with Camera JB+ it reboots the phone.
I have cleared everything recommended, reflashed the rom and kernel, and nothing seems to work.
Thanks.
Have you tried a different custom kernel or the stock kernel the ROM comes with?

Yes. The camera Skew issue appears in the stock kernel as well for SlimBean and RootBox.
The no-pause after taking a snap picture appears in every kernel as well.

If it works at any point, it's not a hardware issue. When you go to recent apps and remove it, it temporarily solves the problem.
It's a known issue with many roms but nobody seems to have taken notice.
Have you posted this in the ROMS q/a thread for a response with the people who also run this ROM?

Isn't this one of the problems many people were having? They fixed a lot of bugs in the recent nightlies.
Try flashing the most up to date kernel you can (3.4.50 was in the dev section last I looked).
Otherwise maybe try the latest nightly build. Nandroid backup if you do so you can easily revert.

Tried flashing the various basebands
I have tried flashing the three different basebands for the sch-i535 and the problem with the instagram video still exists. screen looks doubled, then green and pinkish. Running the latest ayysir 6-27-2013 build of paranoid android 3. Hope this is resolved soon. Will now test various ROMs
I have the same issue too. I've been searching on Google to see if any one had the similar problem and I landed on this thread. I finally decided to register (been lurking for a while) to post this.
My Instagram would only allow me to record up to 2 segments every time without crashing. When recording the third and releasing the record button, it would either:
1) Have that pink and green color and become doubled
or
2) Just crash and restart my whole device.
I've tried it on CM10.1-RC5, CM10.1-RC4 and Nightly build 6/27 using a GS3 SGH-I747.

Any word on this at all? This is a feature I would really like to use, but I'm getting having the same issues mentioned above. Booo. CM 10.1.0
Still no fix on this? There has to be someway to fix it....
bump
Has anybody submitted the issue to CM and Instagram yet? I only ask because no one seems to have mentioned doing so and it would be the best way to get something going on this.
I don't use either one but I would think the instagram folks might at least have a little insight for you.

Any news from IG?
Has any one figured out a workaround other than installing a stock based rom?
I fear the case has gone cold. I check daily for news and still nothing. Frustrating.
