I purchased Swiftkey 3, and prefer it over other keyboards. But on all the custom roms I have used, My phone keeps resetting the default keyboard. I cannot purchase Titanium Pro, to freeze any apps. So is there another way to do it?
You could use a file explorer and delete the keyboard that it is defaulting to. Use root explorer or ES file explorer go to /system/app the keyboard apk will be there

If you want titanium backup pro you can still buy a license file directly from the maker. It is well worth having that app.

I've been using it for a long time but still I see people suggesting ES file manager or even Astro. (Not "bad" apps btw) But File Expert is hands down the best file management program I've used for android. Supports root file management, smb, nfs, ftp (and other network shares including clouds) archive management, and bluetooth filesharing. Best of all it is free without ads. Let me know if you enjoy it as much as I do.
Tried it... like root explorer better... probably just because I'm more used to it... might stick with this a little bit to see if it grows on me... hasn't plagued me like es with not mounting rw some of the time so that's a plus....

I just couldn't see this thread and not jump on here to represent Super Manager. Root explorer, APK manager(system too), task killer(system too!), app protector, backup, and way more. And this is the lite version. Go give it a look see!

I've been using "file manager" nothing special. Thanks for the suggestions checking them out now.
Antek explorer ftw. Try it, just once. Zip management is slightly wacky but best file manager imo

Used to be astro for me but that's so bloated and slow now I only use it for .zip files. Now I tend to just use file manager.

Root Explorer does multi-select, but I'm not sure what people are talking about when they mention zip files. I'm guessing it's the same thing I want, and that's the ability to remove things from a zip file without having to unzip and rezip it. Adding them would be nice, but just removing them is what I'm after.
Obvious example would be downloading a ROM to my phone, removing some of the APKs I don't want and flash away without needed to use my PC.
FWIW, I've been a Root Explorer guy for a while now, but I used Super Manager quite a bit a while back. I see they have some pretty neat things now. I may have to buy the full version of it and see how that acts.
Totally agree with you on file expert... the http and ftp servers built in are AWESOME and it can do everything else.

I agree. I've uninstalled it because it's just not the same app it once was. I use Root Explorer because I paid for it.
I have tried:
File expert: ok but not as finger friendly and smooth scrolling as I would want. However lots of nice stuff.
Astro: awesome since day one, however no root mounting and access...
Antek: meh boring ugly
Root explorer: liked it for a week or 2 then started to be unreliable...
My best and favorite is:
File Slick
Best regular and root file explorer with themes and finger friendly and reliable, also free and options to turn off ads!

It has two tabs at the top that u can set a "home" for so theyopen that flder when u pess it the first one I have is the root of sd and second is my downloads folder its pretty helpful and quick

MIUI file manager. Once I tried it, I could only think of how terribly basic and lame the other ones were.
I remember seeing one awhile ago in the forums but I can't find anything on the market. I'm looking for a root file explorer that will let me do the basic move, copy/paste, etc functions, all while keeping the app under a MB or 2.

Guess I didn't specify. :-\ Was looking for a free one. I had one on the gbtweaked ROM I tried out, but failed to backup that apk before reverting to an old ROM. Will that one allow me to integrate it into the ROM so I can swap SD cards with no issue? I was using ES but its now like 6 MB or something.

Well after installing the LH9 update, my battery life is horrible like so many others.
I am going to downgrade back to a rooted LG1, and I want to prevent the OS from trying to do the OTA update again.
I've googled and done some searches on here, and read a few ways, but wanted to know if someone can clarify an easy way to do it.
Not to sound cheap, but I'd hate to buy Titanium backup just to freeze one thing, being as I wouldn't use the program for anything else.
I also read about just deleting the AT&T update program. But an not sure the best way to do that.
So I am just seeking an easy way to just stop the update process without having to spend money on apps I wouldn't use for anything else.
Using tibu to freeze an app is the exact same thing as disabling it in application settings. I think what your looking for is device management. I think.

Ok I just looked and it's called "AT&T Software Update" and you can't disable it normally in the phone. The option is grayed out.
Are there any free programs to Freeze apps? I wouldn't mind buying TiBu if I felt I would get more use out it. But for now I only need it to do that one thing, so I just can't justify the cost of it, being as it isn't too cheap.
TiBu is the best $6 I've spent on this hobby.
If your not rooted tibu won't do you any good anyway. But if you are rooted, go into system/app folder and either rename or move the apk in question. OTA no more.

go to system/app and delete wssyncmldm.apk and wssyncmldm.odex that will stop it. I would move them to your sdcard and keep them in case you need them again.

Make fure you enable root explorer in es explorer settings and make system writable (also in settings).
For about the last week and a half on every ROM I've used, I've been having a strange issue. Files within the file manager, both on built-in ones and third party ones such as OI File manager, can't be moved around. The only way I have been able to move files around is with root file browser. It's almost as if my file manager has been somehow set to read-only, except I'm able to delete files. How can I fix this?

I've been using ES file explorer to manage my files but its interface is a little annoying (e.g it keeps opening multiple window when I use shortcuts)
I'm wondering if there are other alternatives?

I use Root Explorer. I am not positive, but you might be able to use it non rooted also. Hopefully because to me its the cleanest most intuitive explorer I've used. ES has a lot of features, its just too messy IMO.

i too use root explorer. this has been my choice for some time now. yes it works on unrooted phone,but you can use explorer for free.

Wireless FTP support, dual panel for easy copy, move or drag & drop, bookmarks. Has all the hallmarks of your standard file explorer, and for the most part you'll be able to accomplish most of the same in any. Root explorer gets honorable mention, too.

Solid Explorer is AWESOME. I tried it out back when it was free and fell in love with it. As soon as a paid version came out I bought it immediately. The dual panel alone is amazing being able to just move stuff from one side to the other. Really cool. I HIGHLY recommend it if your looking to try something else.

It simply just covers every angle. The ui is intuitive and well thought out, well worth the price. Its as nessisary an app as titanium backup.

File Manager HD. Beautiful UI. I agree with the OP about ES. I have been trying to make it my default browser for a while, but its just not happening. I do love the Cloud account integration.
My two favorites are Root Explorer and File Explorer (FX) by NextApp, Inc. The later being my goto file manager in most instances.

Yes, very simple to set up an smb sever and store credentials for future bookmarking. Scan for shared network and save encrypted pass for user on initial setup
