[Q] Flash Player not working. Not supported anymore? - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I recently installed CM7 and tried to get flash working by following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116618
Unfortunately, Adobe pulled Flash player support (can't download Flash 11) and although it seems installed It is not located anywhere in the directories mentioned in the guide above. It seems as though installation directory might have changed.
Does anybody know the current status of Flash player and how to fix it on the most recent versions of CM7?
Thanks!

Flash never supported armv6 devices i don't think.......
Theres a few patched versions on xda but i don't think they work on wildfire.

CWM to install ICS

HI,
I was just wondering is there any way to install ICS with Clockwork mod. I know the current method is to install it is by downloading the exe and running it on your computer. I just like to be able to flash it with Clock Work Mod instead (Feel its safer). For some reason I am scared to flash from the computer. I may just make the plunge but ODIN and exe's via the computer to the USB scares me. I also have the older Clockwork mod installed, the version before the touch interface (if it ain't broke mentality)
My Question is if someone makes a backup via Clock work mod can I then install it myself via Clock work mod or will it give me an error since it was not made via mine and give me a backup mismatch error?
Do I have to use the EXE method to upgrade my phone as I have an older kernel and rom and CWM may not be sufficient to update when a developer comes out with a new modified version. Which is what I am holding out for a nice bloat free ICS with Root. (I know I can do it the long way with the exe then Root via update in CWM and then remove each individual package).
JB
Right now the only way is through the EXE. You'll have to wait for a new ROM to be packaged and released (like a custom one). Installing someone elses backup via CWMR would likely cause problems (pretty sure stuff like device ID or something makes these backups per-device only).
So you can wait for a ROM based on the leaked one to be released, or just install via EXE yourself. Installing via EXE was pretty painless, and then you can upgrade your CWMR to the touch version since you'll have to reflash anyways!
The leaked ROM is indeed bloated with all sorts of AT&T BS but thankfully you can at least disable it (settings -> applications -> all -> select app, disable). I forgot how badly they inflate stock ROMs.
Dman is working on a ROM just wait for that

If i were you I would just go for it because you dont know how long it will take until the ROM is flashable plus its not that hard to put it on, if you need help i could give you step by step on it.
Well was about to install it when I found out my USB port is buggy.unfortunately it looks like it will have to wait for a cwm version. Sometimes my connection is there other times it is not, I can not take a chance with it like this.

SO I will wait. Just hope CWM 5.0 will be able to do the flash for an ICS ROM as I never upgraded my CWM to the newer touch interface. I like the 5X interface and quite happy with it so no reason to upgrade. Besides with a flaky USB I don't want to.
Instead of flashing the ROM yesterday which I wanted to and gave up, I modified the External SD card to be internal via the vold.fstab. Works great and Now I can install all those Gameloft games I was avoiding, do to space.

KT747 Kernel and Kies

Hi All,
I am a new member, and therefore cannot post in the proper thread for this. I am having problems connecting to Kies with my ATT Galaxy S 3 with the KT747 kernel by ktoonsez. my search in the forum showed no results for kies, so I assume either there is an easy fix I am missing, or nobody uses Kies. The main reason I want to use Kies is the easy one step method to convert my mkv files to play on my phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using stock rom atm.
Most people don't use Kies. You could try downloading and installing the vlc app from here:
http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/android-v7-neon/
Just download the apk file and install it. You should be able to play mkvs with it with hardware decoding. However, it is a beta so somethings may not work completely.

[Q] Rogers GS3 ROM Questions...

Hello,
New to android... I have searched and searched and read in a LOT of threads trying to get Cyogenmod 10 working on my i747m on Rogers.
I have found many guides and have managed to root my phone and tried installing Cy10 but got an error 7. I read that this was because of the wrong recovery version. I was told to get ROM manager and update through there. For me, however, the GS3 doesn't show up in the options.
Could someone please link me the correct files that I need? I think I know the steps, but it seems that all the files have different versions and are not compatible.
I'm trying to be very careful and not brick my phone, so I am reluctant to try anything that I'm not sure will work... I think that's why this is difficult (Rogers = AT&T? or not?, etc.)
Thank you in advance to anyone who is willing to take the time to help me.
I had the exact same problem as you and what I did was flash, if I remember, cm9 and go to ROM manager and then it would show me Samsung Galaxy s3(att).
You need to update your recovery I flashed the touch recovery from the toolkit and that worked for me

Do you remember which version of cm9? I tried that last night and I still got error 7, but maybe I used the wrong version. All I could find were nightlies, no stable ones for d2att (which is what I was told was our phone)

What version of the toolkit? I can only find 1.0 which gives me recovery 5.5
I'm in the same place. Rooted tried cmw and touch recovery both giving errors. Rom manager from the play store doesn't have an option for a different recovery for me.

I've been trying for 3 days.. I'll let you know if i find a solution (if this thread doesn't provide one that is)
(I'm in Ottawa too!)
Error 7 is means you don't have the right requirements to start with.
If you are trying to flash bell 4.1.1 on your Rogers device running 4.0.4, you must first install bell stock 4.0.4 from Sammy site or else things like will throw error 7 during install.
Read CM10 requirements carefully...
I had the same problem. I just upgraded the CWM version to the latest one using this (its the same step, just make sure you download the right recovery):
youtube.com/watch?v=rx8GuAKxzpA
Get recovery from the main CWM site:
clockworkmod.com/rommanager

Flash Videos on 4.2.2?

What exactly is the situation with Flash video on Jelly Bean now? I installed JB 4.2 on my gnex as soon as I got it a month ago, and it has played Flash fine until today. Now it asks me to update flash player and then tells me my device is not supported.
When I looked it up, I found articles saying that Flash player would not be supported past ICS and had been pulled from the Play Store. And indeed, I don't have a copy installed.
Yet despite this, Flash videos worked until today. So I assume Google had baked some sort of Flash support into the OS.
I guess this means we have to wait for Google to update the support for the new version of Flash? Do you think this will happen through Play Story updates to Browser or Chrome, or will we need to wait for 4.2.3 (or whatever the next release is) to see this fixed?
I know Adobe only cut off support in August, so I guess we don't have we long track record to estimate how long it will take to get the issue fixed, but has this happened when Adobe updated Flash before (since August)?

You could simply sideload Flash...
download this and install through root explorer to have flash

thanks. I've been looking for this.
Version 11.1

Or go to http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html, scroll down to "Flash Player for Android 4.0 archives", and download the latest version. Currently: 11.1.115.48.
Thanks for the suggestion, but it does no good I am afraid. I still get a notification saying I have to update flash in every browser when I try to load a flash video. Probably because the latest version for android is 11.1 and they are now up to 11.6.

AW: Flash Videos on 4.2.2?
That's not a problem of your rom, most of the newest browsers doesn't support flash.
I can watch flash videos with the stock browser or dolphin(you have to delete a file, before you can watch flash)

Here you go. Just go to the end of the OP to the updates and it will tell you the path to where the file is to delete it. Good luck

[Q] Camera stopped working after rooting..help?

First of all, I'm a bit new to the whole rooting/custom ROM thing. I rooted my Galaxy s3 i747m using odin and have cwm recovery installed. I flashed a custom stock jelly bean ROM with gapps. Everything works fine except the camera crashes upon startup even using third party camera apps, and there is no default music player installed. The music player is no big deal but I really need the camera to work. I have been searching around for camera apk's and i tried installing one and moving it to samsung/app using root explorer and changing the permissions as instructed. It still doesn't work and I am currently using a mac so it's hard to work with.
Should I try to go back to stock Touchwiz or does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to fix the camera problem? The camera doesnt even show when I search under all applications but it is present in the app folder and as a shortcut.

boot into recovery and see what version it says at the top. if it's not at least 6.0.2.3 or higher, your going to get a status 7 error.
here is the link to cwm 6.0.2.3: http://d-h.st/8qP
place the zip on your sd card and flash this in recovery. reboot recovery and see if its updated. if so, flash the rom/gapps
You can also download rom manager and update your cwm recovery from there.

That's what I did, and now everything works perfect, thanks! The only thing that bothers me is that the apollo music player won't go to the previous song.. but that's not a big deal.
