Hey guys I'm from the Xperia X8 forums (yeah, reeeeeaaallly long way from home). I'm getting a One X in less than 2 weeks and I was wondering if you guys can tell me if this phone is worth it ? I actually like this phone more than the S3, which I've been told by many to get over the One X. So I was wondering, could you guys tell me if it's worth getting, what are the pros and cons and do you regret getting it and if you do, what would be a better alternative ? I have read and read TONS of reviews online and all I can say is that the reviews are mixed, but quite positive. Besides, if it's one thing i trust its the opinions and advice of XDA Members Hope to hear some good news

I dont regret buying the hox, it has a strong shell which in fact still looks like new in my case. It is very fast, especially with custom roms! If you had to pay the extra money for the s3, i would ast it I'd not worth it. (in The Netherlands the s3 is more expensive) With the ongoing rom support, and the development of better and faster roms every week! there is a lot of fun flashing to come! I especially look out for the finished versions of Cyanogenmod 10/ Jellybean roms!
Hope this helps a little bit..
Thanks for that what I'm worried tho is about the many reports of faulty One X's which go bust within a week of use
I had an xperia x8 before the hox and my god how did I live with such a tiny screen lol, I do miss the 4 - 5 battery life

This phone is definitely worth it, speaking from a person who.upgraded their gs2 after about 3 months usage I won't be upgrading this for a long time. My brother owns a gs3 and there isn't much difference even in battery life. You can't go wrong with whichever one you buy.

Depending on when you need your new phone, you could wait for the One X+. However, both the S3 and One X are great devices, I just prefer the build quality, design and screen (especially in the sun!) of the One X.

So your saying that batter life is the same? funny because i see s3 users always end up here boosting how they can easily get 5 + hours batter life ect. ect.
As a HOX owner, I'll tell you that the One X isn't worth it. Don't get me wrong, it's the prettiest phone available right now. But as someone with a membership here, you have to know that the device support is crappy as well as, at least in my case, the device itself. How many phones on here have a bugs poll at launch[1]? Now here's the thing though, while I think there's a bunch of faults with the HOX, I can't actually recommend an alternative. All I can say is that the phone will give you headaches as it has a ton of issues and a minimal amount of devs.

Remember a much higher number of people complain than praise, that poll is not at all fair it's just a small poll on a small number of XDA members.
In the real world, there are more perfect than defect devices, I myself got a HOX 2 days after release and it is perfect no issues at all.
the only issues and headaches i have had are ones i have caused myself.
and it's not the number of devs that is important but the quality of work they do.
One X is excellent piece of kit but like anything else everything comes with an issue. Early fails should now be rectified in newer batches. But if I was you I'd wait for the One X+ only around the corner. Possibly 64gb, LTE, slightly faster whilst keeping the best of the One X. Only if price isn't an issue it should make the current One X cheaper.

You're right in that the quality of the devs is more important than the number, after all, my previous phone was a HTC Incredible S, we basically had one CM dev, but that dev kept the device super stable, even in terms of nightlies. However when CM9 and now CM10 have come out, it's an almost forgotten device. You also look at the HOX with CM9, Interepresentation started but never finished. Look at TGasgoine's AOSP, started but on a break. These things matter when it comes to maintaining a device, there needs to be enough of a developer ecosystem to see others pick up the work. It especially matters with our device being a Tegra 3 as so much of the work is fresh ground.
You're also right that more people complain, however that doesn't negate the complaints. It seems to be a lottery over getting a good device. Hilarious since HTC are being so staunch about repairing/replacing locked bootloaders.
Oh and it should also be mentioned that there's no S-OFF for this device, even on the horizon and the only bootloader unlocker available is via the official HTCDEV.com and it's important to remember that htcdev only partially unlocks the bootloader. So things like overclocking and undervolting aren't possible right now.

Sorry to bump this thread but I felt I had to. It's been nearly a month since I got my OX and I have to say I regret nothing thank you all.
I have a HOX and its the best phone I've ever owned, and I've had many android phones and rooted them and put custom roms on them all. But this doesn't need, Imo. My wife and father inlaw both have S3s and they both have many problems like overheating, random reboots, and bad battery. The both got the jellybean update and things seem to be ok for them now. But when we get ours it will make a great phone even greater. Htc all the way.

Got one for my wife yesterday and its superb. The camera and build quality is great and really why I got it for her. Folders on home screens are an essential for her. Not seen what battery life's like but if its bad JB update will improve it probably. Love how when I slide my finger across the screen at the edge its seamless and glides off the edge. Its things like that, that HTC have done really well. Its the easiest android phone and anyone can pick it up and easily use it but I can't say that for some of the others.
I really want one but 32gb is not enough. I have a SGS2 and like that I have an SD card.
I did consider one x + but they are just trying to shift more before their new phones come out and I won't buy into that. HTC butterfly for me
I purchased hers from amazon warehouse used but from amazon directly so I knew if I had issues I could replace it easy. No issues yet. Joy to use.

So I have never considered the S3 before, but I have two weeks left to replace my One X (Second One X with dodgy compass) and I am wondering whether to just give up and ask for a S3 instead.
First of all let me say that I LOVE the One X, and the better screen and sleeker looks are more than enough for me to pick it over the S3 with it's otherwise stronger specs - were it not for the faults with the device.
Build quality is iffy, and I have had two HOXes now, both of which have had dodgy gps which just don't work (they show me spinning around on the spot and moving around rapidly on the map when I am standing still). But perhaps getting another replacement would fix that.
But that isn't all. The fact that wi-fi turns off when the phone goes into stand-by is a huuge inconvenience, as I have to keep on interacting with the phone whenever I am down/uploading a large file, so it doesn't stop half way through. I shouldn't have to do this.
Also, the multi-tasking is pretty awful and doesn't seem to have been coded well at all.
Now my question is, do you guys foresee these problems being sorted out in the not-too-distant future, or are you considering switching over to the S3 as well? Also, do you expect the S3 to have similar problems when it comes out?
I just want to reiterate that I love this phone and really don't want to slag it off, but the combined problems are really getting me down, and I don't think an expensive top-end mobile should should be so flawed.
TY for any thoughts and opinions in advance.
EDIT: Ok well. Two of the biggest problems I had with the One X seem to have been solved already.
First of all, the 1.29.0.11 (??) patch has apparently fixed multi-tasking.
Also, some genius has managed to show me a fix for the wi-fi turning off when the phone is in standby.

I tried this out, and my phone's wifi now stays connected even when the screen is turned off!! Woop!!!!
Still leaves the factor of a dodgy GPS, but I am more than happy to get a replacement HOX as the other main problems have been alleviated
Same question for me. I got 2nd one atm and still got probs with it. Like the GPS like you, gap on the side, WiFi turnin off....... I like this thing and I want it workin but now I'm in the role that I could change to another device on Vodafone Germany because its getting the 3rd replacement. I don't know what to do too... Greetz

Yes.
But even if it stayed on until the download was finished, that wouldn't be OK in my opinion.
I am for at least 12 months. As much as the lack of s-off is annoying it isn't the deal breaker so long as HTC are releasing pretty regular updates for the bugs found. As far as my devices build quality is concerned I have no problems. Just not worth using htcdev until half way through my contract risking the loss of warranty.
The device itself should entertain me as is for 12 months. Hunting S-OFF is a side attraction until then post that date root via htcdev will see me the latter half of the contract by keeping me interested.
Sticking with One X for now unless something real enticing comes. SGS3 was a disappointment IMO. Maybe the Sony GX or the next Nexus I'll upgrade. Maybe even iPhone 5
SGS3 has multitasking problems also according to a reviewer/user if we're talking about the same problem.
Wi-Fi should be fixed, One S had it fixed I believe.
I personally haven't run into wi-fi problems recently. For a a little while when running a new build of ARHD, I all of a sudden got the wi-fi problems ppl were talking about. Didn't have the problems before that. Switched over to LeeDroid and haven't run into the wi-fi problem since.
You can set a longer screen off time when downloading, also I'm sorry to say I don't have the same problems :/

as much as i hate to say this i am undecided as well..now if my carrier comes back to me and they say i can replace my handset then i will go for the s3. now do not get me wrong i love my one x. but at the same time with all the issues going on kinda puts me off. hence how do i know i will not get another dodgy one..if they say they can only repair it then i will hold off sending it as it is still fully functional and were i have the creaking i stuck a case over it and it has stopped for now..so it goes like this
replace it for me then i am going for the s3
if they say no then one x it is and still a great device and i have recommended it to a few of my friends and hoping they get a good batch

im selling mine when i borrow a camera for pics. i made a mistake leaving Samsung. i might get the nexus though. Google wallet might actually work. i have never seen so many duplicate threads, clueless users, and mods choosing when to enforce rules and when not to.
I'm selling mine as soon as it comes back from HTC, should be a brand new one. I won't open it and will sell it straight away and buy a S3.

Yeah it is pretty nasty looking isn't it! I also don't like the idea of having 16gb base memory even if it is expandable. I much prefer the 32gb internal memory of the One X over Micro SD as it is so much quicker - and I dont need to fork out even more money for an SD card.
Hmmmm..... This is really annoying. Why couldnt you just get the phone right HTC!!??

The question is no different than asking "which should I buy, a M-B E Class or BMW 5 Series?" Both have strengths and weaknesses and neither is immune from issues.
The same applies to the One X vs. SGS3 comparison.
Here's a list of reasons why not to get a One X over a SGS3.
1) You like SAMOLED displays.
2) You need better battery life than the 1800mAh non-removable battery in the One X can provide.
3) You want removable storage.
4) You don't like the One X design or are partial to the SGS3's.
5) You like TouchWiz better than Sense.
6) HTC's new warranty policy for flashing third-party ROMs either scares you or pisses you off.
7) You fancy some of the s/w features like Direct Talk, S-Voice, and Smart Stay.
8) You use $300 plus headphones or have several thousands of dollars’ worth of home A/V equipment and the Wolfson DAC's important.
Here's a list of things that are going to be the same.
1) Initial build quality issues.
2) Initial s/w problems.
3) Variations from display-to-display.
4) Durability and longevity.
5) Excellent development support.
Voice calls, e-mail, MMS, social, and web browsing make up 70% of what people do with smartphones. In those areas it would be hard to tell the two phones apart. Happy decision making.
P.S. – For those on their 9th exchange, now hate HTC for whatever reason, or have expectations no phone ever produced could meet; there’s no need to re-post what you’ve most likely already posted a dozen times. I, and I’m sure others get it; the One X has some launch issues and because of that your life is forever altered.
sticking with it.. does everything I need and it's the sexiest phone on the market right now. so why would I need to move? Plus I'm on a 2 year contract so doesn't justify me breaking my contract or selling my phone for less than its actual worth.
@BarryH I think that's a little unfair. I wasn't trying to run through faults that have already been covered at great length elsewhere on the forum. Nor was I asking for a basic tally of pros and cons of S3 versus the One X.
My aim was to gauge the community's loyalty towards the One X given the faults and flaws that the device shipped with, and whether many would be making the switch over to the S3.
Also, the majority of the problems with the One X are not examples of people being overly picky or entitled - they are cases of the phone simply not doing what it was designed to do. Now I have no idea if or how long it will take HTC to fix them, but that is why I asked what peoples' thoughts about that where in the original post.
Thanks for responding

I wasn't faulting your original question. Sorry if it came across that way. The One X vs. SGS3 comparison/debate will be ongoing for most of the year. I was just trying to provide a check list for people on the fence. I'd guess most people leaving the One X would be going to the SGS3 anyway. I never did answer your original question. I'm getting a SGS3 and using it for a week or two before deciding which phone to keep. And not because I think there's anything wrong with the One X.

HTC One X - HTC's New Hero Device! Mega Information Thread
I had a HOx for a few weeks and he has valid points. I showed friends the pictures I took with the HOX and they all said my HTC Incredible S took better pictures than the HOX. It was on latest 1.29 firmware.
And not only the videos are choppy, the whole UI experience is choppy, like 20fps. It is really depressed to see that the hava a full GPU, quad core power and android 4 and STILL aren't able to manage a smooth scrollinge experience (like iphone scrolling). And I know people see this but choose to ignore it, game menus scroll smooth but the actual OS lags...
edit: I had 3 HOXes, the all act the same (hardware issues ignored)

But to sum at that huge thread, I'd say it like this;
If you get a fault-free one, it's a fantastic phone.
BUT....your chances of getting a fault-free phone are much less than they should be.
If you want to take part in the HTC One X crap-shoot, please be prepared to pursue HTC with warranty returns until they get it right. Do not unlock bootloader until you are happy with it!

thx for ur reply m8, how is there batch date, or serial sequence to decide the goodness of the device? I want to check before taking it home
I didn't feel like listening to 15 minutes "whining" but compared to the sgs2 I got when it was out the hox actually already is pretty good, battery life is as good as the sgs2 after a year, no screen defects/flickering. I only have one issue though it could be considered quite a big issue and I really hope it's a software issue and it is that the sim card isn't recognised anymore and consequently the hox stops working as a phone until I reenter the pin
all in all, The HOX is bit of hit an miss. am I right ?

The One X is a fantastic device and you're MUCH more likely to get a working version than a faulty one. The only reason it LOOKS like there are loads of faulty ones is because people who have a fully functional, working device don't start threads complaining about it
There's a poll on here comparing how many people have a working one against those who have a faulty one and guess which came out on top by quite a considerable margin... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1585082&highlight=poll
Also, as this is a developers forum, people who have faulty devices are going to stumble across devices to try and find a fix. The problems aren't any way near as widespread as it seems.
Of course, defective devices shouldn't be reaching customers at all, but there's nothing you can do about that I'm afraid
No, its worse then that ... there are people reporting stranger lies
After optimising and disabling some apps that were sucking my battery down (which was my main gripe about this phone) I am more than happy with the HOX. The camera is sweet, games/emu's run great and the screen (even on 25% brightness) pops out. Well worth a purchase.
you can not go wrong with this phone mate. best option is to find a store close by to you which you can go and check the phone for yourself before taking it away with you. explain your fears to the sales assistant and see what they say and if they let you inspect it. but anyways if you get a perfect one you are in business and you could not ask for a better phone. i really hope development picks up more in our forums as this deserves nothing but the best.
s3 is another top handset but i feel there is more to the one x. development for the s3 will be huge. but think about this.
you are using Touchwiz and you are thinking man this is ugly. you want to change it but you get fed up with the launchers as well. you wish you could try sense but you can not as it is hard to port to a sammy phone and second no one has done that. were on the One X not only you have sense but we have now cm9 and you can use Touchwiz launcher as well. so you are getting yourself a beast of a phone mate

I think some people have good luck and some have bad. I've had mine for more than a week and it's perfect. However, I've accompanied someone to collect a replacement for a faulty unit. Guess what, went back home to charge and the red light is not showing on the replacement unit. I've also heard a lot of complaints ranging from battery not charging, unit not turning on, squeaky phone edges.
If quality control doesn't improve soon, and with all the SG3 hype, One X might find itself sliding down a slippery slope.

take me as an example I was about to buy one, but now I have to do a masters degree in understanding/avoiding the faults which can come with it
Hi everyone!
I'm a LG O3D user (with great regrets...) and I have the possibility of a (almost) new ONE X, unbranded for €300.
I know that every phone as its issues, and I've read the foruns in search of those issues in the ONE X, but wanted to have a deeper insight on the everyday life with this one.
I really like HTC and having owned a Hero, and knowing the support (at least here in Pt) is good, I'm really thinking of it.
Thank you very much!
I have had no problems with my One X, but from what I have read there are a few things you should check out before buying.
Check the wi-fi signal, GPS signal consistancy.
I think those 2 are the most common problems and the most annoying ones. I read also something about a gap between the screen and case, but not sure about it.
All of those can be checked out easily (10-20 minutes) before buying, so make sure you do that! You would not want to shell out 300 to find out wi-fi does not work, or you GPS is incredibly inacurate.
Thanks for the info!
I'm testing it tomorow or the day after.
Whats your thoughts on the battery life?

Battery life is surprisingly good for me. After the first couple days i easily get over 12 hours before reaching 20%. Must say i love that the phone drains almost no battery when listening to music in my experiences.

The wifi issue normally doesnt substantiate until a couple of weeks in use, and so does the screen flickering issue. So far popular know issues include:
1) Bad battery life (~ 2 hr of screen time)
2) Over heating after 5-10minutes in use
3) GPS issue
4) Screen flex issue
5) Screen flickering (mostly solved)
6) Antenna issue
7) 3G connection
8) Gaps
9) Sense issues
And before you buy this you should pray to your lucky star that you wont get a dud one. I've seen people on this forum going thru so much stress w HTC and this phone.
Battery life there are days I think not bad and on others I ask myself what the hell? Despite having my phone for around 4 or 5 months I still do notice drops of 3-5% in battery life. I can't really make my mind up for this device. I can't tell if htc is going to improve anything on this device anymore or if that's just as good as it gets. It'll be best if you just end up expecting nothing from HTC. That will save you from having expectations that wont be met anyway.
Edit: by the way there is a battery life thread with a trillion posts in it. Just open it and come up with a conclusion yourself. Be warned though, you might see people with around 5 to 6 hours of screen time which seems really questionable to me. I would say the people posting screen times of anywhere between 2 to 4 hours 30 minutes screen time are legit.

How's the HTC support treating those cases?

One X user (Tegra version) since one week. Switched to the CM10 preview this weekend. Very good phone, battery life is on par with the rest. If you check the points mentioned above (also make sure the power and volume buttons are responsive), that sounds like a good deal. ROM community is very active, JB support already almost flawless. Also, the screen is the best I have seen on a phone so far.

Just go get a sgs3. You can expect a crappy design plus a display not as nice as the one x in my opinion. But you also get to have a better performance, little to no lag, much better battery life.probably less hardware faults etc. (You at least know what you can expect and you actually get it)

Honestly I think HTC has been playing the blame games and time buying strategies to the extent of ignoring customers and treating like crap. But still better than LG as far as I have known. And as someone has said, if you want a better chance of getting a drama free phone better get the SGS3, as much as I hate Samsung. But you're not gonna have that beautiful hardware and AMAZING screen (funny how i say this since I dont own it lol).
This is a co-worker who's selling its ONE X, so no S3 option for me...
I'm having a lot of trouble in knowing what to focus on, because from what I see (read), there are issues (as with every single phone), and I think the important part is the support by HTC being good.
On that point (HTC support), what do you think? Any experience with them?

Long term htc users: "HTC supporrt is great, they might lack a little at first, but sooner or later(probably they mean later) they will just nail the update properly and it will all function nicely."
first time HTC user(myself): i've yet to see any of the support and i honestly feel like i'm not in good hands but i'm still open for them to prove it. The only reason i haven't completely given up on htc is because of the people who have been with htc for a much longer time. They seem to have a much different opinion of HTC and their updates and what not.
Oh yeah, not to forget, rooting/flashing can void your warranty *HIGH FIVE*
in my opinion to have your HOX function properly, you're gonna want to root.
edit: since it's a co-worker you're probably going to be getting it cheaper, right? Which will probably make the OneX more worthy of its price.
First thing you're going to want to do is check if his bootloader says "unlocked" or "relocked" or "locked" - this would make it possible for you to lower the price and get it even cheaper
Well on the update point, I think LG just trumps every single brand on the market... They simple don't give us any... LOL
Regarding the list of possible issues, do you think it can be easily observed? or its more of a wear-by-time kind of thing?

Honestly! When i got this phone i was the happiest person on earth until i noticed a few problems here and there and this just ruined the overall user experience. There's something about this phone that tells me i want to keep it. Design is gorgeous, sometimes i just turn the phone around just to admire the awesome look of how it's built. When the problems start to pile up, however, you get really unsatisfied.
With later batches i heard the phone is supposed to be pretty good and problem-free. I believe the main issues that you won't see immediately is the WLAN issue and maybe a bit of a screen gap. Haven't really been hearing much of the flicker issues anymore.
How to notice the WiFi issue i'd suggest a google search or for you to look around @ xda forums. I don't really feel like explaining it. Actually, youtube should help you in this case --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKCJ4Ab2tIo
Well, being a smartphone user for some time, I can relate with that feeling...
I'm going to buy it, sell my O3D, and may the gods of smartphone be with me!
Thank you so much for your help.
P.S. It will cost me €300, being that here in Pt, a new unlocked one costs €700...

I wouldn't worry too much about it, anything that goes wrong will be covered by the warranty anway.

The purpose of this thread is to see how many people are still loving their One X.
I was fascinated when I bought it. It was the most beautiful piece of technology I ever owned or even laid my eyes on. I still love it. For some time a week ago I was really disappointed in HTC. Not giving us S-OFF. Not releasing Jellybean even tough they promised to. But then I flashed a really nice ROM and it kind of made me think my choice of the One X over SGS3 was right. I flashed ICJ and it's a new phone. I just needed a change, got bored of the stock JB. And seeing all the tweaks and options on that ROM just reminded me of how great this phone is.
Do you share my point of view or have you already lost faith in HTC?
I still love my htc one x but it doesn't changes the truths like late jelly bean and no s-off. I will sell my hox and buy a n4 just because I want the pure google rom and google support.
Why are you happy with your choice of the One X over the SGS3 when you are having a better experience with TouchWiz, the default SGS3-launcher?
Seems a bit ironic.
I am. Love sense and the hox. For me, the best phone out as of now.

I never said Sense was my choice. I really dislike Sense. I normally use stock JB, but I just wanted to change things up a bit. I chose the One X because my last 3 phones were Samsung and all of them had difficulties with hardware after a year or so. And because it looked a million times better and more high quality compared to the SGS3.
No. I'm getting a Nexus4 ASAP
Küldve az én HTC One X-emről
I've enjoyed my HOX, but I'm too excited about the Nexus 4 right now. It's been fun but it's time to move on.
I really fall in love with mine every time I watch a video on it or play a game i'm not that bothered by not having JB yet or that it's s-on This is the first android phone I'm really happy with just stock the only thing I would change is the battery and I'm gonna check at my local service center if they can hook me up with a x+ batt then I'll be happy with every aspect of it
Fed up of the jb fiasco no more HTC for me.

Well, I was never in "love" with any phone I owned; but I am pretty happy with it as the main electronic device of my daily life, with the laptop and TV.
can say that it is the one which broke the Sony trio, but not unhappy or regretted with that choice.
Still I want the whole Android experience and some HTC experiences to be improved, but I will not cry for things I already knew before buying this phone.
Fiasco? Not releasing JB even promised?
I think you better change the point of view you have on some specific cases. Otherwise you will never ever be happy with any piece of stuff you own.
Wow, some interesting opinions here.
When I first got my HOX, I loved it, it got the WiFi antenna problem, I sent out in for repair, it came back with a broken case, I sent it back it came back with the screen chipped and yellow spots, sent it back and now I have a new HOX.
So for quite a while I was not happy, but now I'm in love again. I got a cheap silicon case which gives it better grip (I find it a bit slippery to hold as it is) also I notice the led seems to be in a better spot. So it good all round.
As for the infamous jelly bean, that's the icing on the cake. Can't live without Sense, so don't want to flash stock.
First Smartphone
This is my first ever smart phone which is also first android phone..
When first time i saw this phone back in March-12, the first impression was for me, forget the budget... if i have to buy a phone... it will be HOX only..
Forget iphone or BB, even S3 was not in options for me...
and later what happened is just a history now... i have flaunted this phone in my social circle as much as one can do with their Ferrari or Lamborghini..
and i am also happy because after seeing my HOX, few more people were convinced to buy HOX or HOX+ instead of S3...
And no need to mention that, i never switched to any custom ROM.. all pure HOX with Sense
Still happy with the HOX in some kind but honestly: Since i got me a Note 2 for work i touch the HOX more less and less.
after 5 months with my hox i still in love with it! amazin design and everytime i watch it i love it more!
no s-off, but why do we need s-off now? we have everything we need and we'll have it for long time, and if we'll have s-off too in the future it will just be better!
amazing hardware, amazing display and amazing sense! if i'm bored by sense, i install cm10 or just any other launcher! and i can return to sense whenever i want!
I hate my one x. Gorilla glass cracked at 1 foot. Crap memory for recovery hence no 4ext. Bad move on no microsd. Only thing good is crisp display and nice processor.

If its the former we need to get a PSA going about how great the phone is so people buy more, if its the latter I suppose we should just wait...

It's new and in the US here its only available on one carrier and most people are waiting on the M9 flagship phone. We also don't have s-off so we cant do any fun mods really. Honestly it's a M8 in plastic with water proofing and different cameras so its nothing groundbreaking. I wouldnt expect much out of this fourm

Yes, it's almost M8, so it would be pretty easy to port some M8 ROMs to the EYE, GPE ROM for example. I would do that if I had any tutorials. But I haven't found any.
Im waiting also on some custom rom,but nobody take care till now about this device.I will try to ask Venom team cos they make the best custom roms.

I wouldnt say it's easy by any means especially since most HTC Devs on this site do not own the device and with the different cameras come different drivers it makes things harder.

Yeah I thought the same thing but for the moment in my option, due to the fact that it is an At&t exculsive it will take some time before people outside this carrier obtains it. Unless, you are like me and decided to purchase it unlocked; which is not a bad idea if you ask me. Additionally, since this phone is new and HTC has promised that it will be supporting devices like the M8,Desire EYE and new devices with updates and fixes for the next 2 years I personally will not be bothered with rooting my device. Besides, we are soon due to get Android 5.0 directly from the source so why not wait and enjoy the direct updates from HTC because after 2.5 years we will be on our own.
After 2 years, which I would most likely still have it in excellent order will then decide to root it and add a custom rom on it.
But dont worry, you are not alone in buying this phone. It is an amazing device that in more cases than one is much better,on the same spec stage and cheaper than the M8.
I recently received my desire eye. I won it on HTC elevate though. Awesome program. But I see that it isn't a very popular option. Since I'm on Verizon mine will be used mostly as a WiFi device. I can day that once lollipop gets here you will really like it. Dttw works perfectly

Yes this is an absolutely amazing phone, I had a Moto X, then tried WinMo with the Nokia 930 and then went to thi, its the best phone ive ever owned, brilliant performance, great battery life, awesome connectivity, the only downside could be its physical size, not a problem for a big guy like myself but if you have small hands and small pockets you wont find this phone easy to use.
