So i got my S3, and rooted it. Once rooted and ROM were applied, i noticed my camera was gone. The app disappeared. everytime i tried downloading a different app from google play, once i opened the app, a message appeared saying "Camera Not Found" the only way my camera would work and let me take picture is if i used instagram. and id rather not, since i cant white balance and focus how i like. But anyway, HELP PLEASE? Sorry im new to this site, if im doing something wrong im sorry.
What ROM did you flash?
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
Firstly, what ROM are you using? It may not have the camera working.
Secondly, the normal Android camera application (not the same as the stock TouchWiz one for the S III, which may be absent in your ROM anyway if it's not TW-based) is part of Gallery, a Google app mainly available from the gapps package where custom ROMs are concerned; if this isn't baked into your ROM, you'd need to install it separately.

Hi SGS Folks!
Have you seen how the new Sony's Cameras capture Panorama Photos by moving the Camera all the way the scene you want to capture?
Well today a beta app developed by Sony can do that in our Mobile Phones...
I've found the app in the original thread for a X10 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116055 and i've corrected the script so we can also enjoy this beauty app...
DISCLAIMER!!!
Always do a back first in case it breaks anything and i'm not responsible if anything happens to your house, your town, your country or your dog... Use it at your own risk though it doesn't mean a major threat since the propetary files go to framework without breaking recovery or something else...
Instructions:
1.- Download and flash through CWM 3+ this script:
1.1 - Download Script
The script contains two SE Propietary files needed for the app to work.
2.- Download and install the attached app named:com.sonyericsson.panorama.apk
Install the app normally through any explorer like a side load.
3.- Enjoy!
Attached you may also find a few pictures taken it really works good on daylight!
Glad my work? Buy me a Beer!
hi mate,
you can already this on the Galaxy S using default camera app. Go to the shooting mode setting and select panorama view from there.
Thanks!
I know we can do this from the Stock Camera but what about the people running on CM7? I heard that it can't be done right?
Anyway i think it's a cool app to have
And in stock camera the picture size is 640*480
Thanx for the app,
Viva Guate!

so using this app, i can take panorama picture with full 5Mp.?
does this work in CM7 on others phone??
ie: nexus one/ htc desire
Yes it does. Go in the Android app and games forum. I've made the files for specific phones...

You can use the camera in portrait mode, and get a quite large picture that is 640 vertical, if your hand is steady. Mine wasn't when I was testing this afternoon, and I got only 1968 by 544 (I think it throws away the strips that don't match among all the pictures - so the steadier you are, the larger the vertical number of pixels will be.
"Application not installed" when I try to install it after flashing the CWM package first. I'm on Insanity CM 17. Would love to see this work as I used the panorama mode freguently with Samsung Roms.
just google photaf .... that's much better than this one and it's not beta.
Finding this to be a great app! Easy to use and pretty intuitive.
cant get this to work...
followed the instructions on the first post but keep getting "application not installed"
CM7 nightly #47
hi

Panorama Beta on SGH t989
Hi folks i know i don't have the same phone as you, and it's been described as "only a galaxy s2 by name" fairly often on these forums, but i'm very much a fan of this app, sony panorama. I had it on my evo 3d, and even with the built in panorama feature in the galaxy s2 phones, i feel this one works much better for uninterrupted panoramic shots, whereas the galaxy s2 feature stitches pictures together resulting in blurs where the stitching takes place and discontinuity of the image.
Anyways. i apologize for this being my first post i have actually been reading around these forums for quite some time, just never signed up for an account.
i was wondering if the file listed here for flashing could be changed to work for the SGH T989, as i have used several files meant for the 19000 such as the v6 supercharger. However, i have also tried to flash a bootanimation only to find under further research that my stock rooted rom does not have an "insecure kernel" and can't flash bootanimations and the like.
So yeah, i was basically wondering if the reason the flash did not work is the same as the bootanimation, and if there's anything you can do to help me obtain this awesome app.
SGH t989 Stock Rooted Rom
I recently upgraded to jellybam and noticed it was missing almost everything that I
needed to function with on a day to day basis and this is okay, except for some things.
I already looked allover XDA about this and noticed there really is not much on the topic
so I feel help is needed at this point.
What I am wondering the most is where is the video player...?
Also, the camera layout on jellybean sucks, is there anyway to change this?
Any help is appreciated!! Thank you
Well i guess the rom comes with lesser apps than a rom would from the factory. As for a video player i have super video and i'm sure theres a few other good ones. About the camera layout, i don't think you can change that.
Edit: And i am also running jellybam.
Did you update to a custom rom, or did you update through kies. Either way, when you updated you could have restored your phone through google and all your apps shoudl have re-downloaded onto your phone. if thats not the case, open up your play store, hit the menu button, and tap on my apps. after that you'll see a list of all the apps you've downloaded and you can re-download them.
as far as the camera on jellybean not being great, you could always flash a different camera onto your phone if you are rooted. 4.2 camera is super nice.
and i just started using MX player and its pretty nice. Free and has a lot of codecs.
In a lot of Roms you have to reflash "gapps" search XDA for latest version. It is all the Google apps.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
The jellybam rom comes with gapps i think he's talking about some samsung native apps.
If you updated to a stock firmware you should get the GAPPS automatically now if you install a 3rd party ROM like AOKP or CyanogenMod you have to install GAPPS manually just Google it you can find lots of information on it online
Greetings All!
I tried searching the forums for this, but the closest answer I could find was (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1916771) - and I'm still confused.
I have a rooted Note II running a stable official Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 with Android 4.2.2.
My question is in regards to the stock camera for the Note II. I really liked that application versus the camera app by Cyanogenmod. I was wondering if there was anyway to overwrite the new camera app for the stock one.
Here's what I've tried so far:
1. I have access to another Note II (a friend of mine's) and I tried backing up the Gallery.apk (and the SamsungCamera.apk (or something like that)) and sending it over to be installed on my phone. I turned off verify apps, turned on Unkown sources, froze Cyanogenmod's gallery app, and then tried installing the gallery.apk, but to no avail. I also tried installing SamsungCamera.apk. I also tried making a backup of cyan's gallery app, uninstalling it, then installing the apks. The error I always get is "Application not Installed."
I have the apks that I'm trying to install uploaded to my Dropbox here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/uqub4hgp80yv8i1/lZEpewNM7O
I haven't yet tried to use the adb command to install the app. Could this make a difference?
Thanks so much in advance. If this question has already been posted, I'm sorry, but would appreciate a link pointing me in the right direction.
Thanks Again!
By stock camera you mean stock camera app provided by samsung's touchwiz? If yes, from what I know it's not yet possible or not possible. As CyanogenMod and Samsung's stock ROM has different frameworks.
It might be possible if someone can port it.

I see. OK, thanks so much for the response/help!

Sorry, but does this also go for the messaging app (the framework issue)?
Thanks!

I've been running Cyanogenmod on varied devices for maybe 3 years now. Wife had it on her original HTC EVO, I've put it on multiple co-worker phones, and I have two HP Touchpads with it for around 2 years. I love it.
However, Cyanogen doesn't have the awesome camera that the native Samsung app has. I have tested over 5 top rated Camera apps from Google Play (Pro HD, Camera MX, Cymera, etc) and none touch the ease, usability, features and quality of the native Samsung app. The "Best Face" & "HDR" are freaking awesome. I haven't seen any app that can touch those two, especially the HDR quality. The 'low light' feature is awesome too, but I didn't test to see if other apps offer the same.
l'd love to donate some change if someone could work out a proper port to Galaxy devices. I can't really goto Cyanogenmod & use the associated bland camera app. With a new baby @ home, that best face is a godsend. The HDR has really popped bunches of our pictures too.

Agreed.
I installed Beanstock (4.3) and love it except...I'm missing the features of the stock camera app, most specifically HDR and low light. Would love to have these features back and would donate as well if someone could help port it.
i also want stock samsung camera i have tested many camera apps but none of them can match samsung camera.
hope someone can help us or guide us
I would also second this! Low light and hdr are by far the best. I NEED an alternative to the stock cyanogenmod but I have fallen short on every search. I would galdly contribute to a fund for a solid camera app. Does anyone running CM have any suggestions for a camera app.
if i wanted to port the touchwiz framework so the samsung camera app will function properly, how would I go about doing this? is there a ton of different files that would need handpicked or is there a folder or some type of label that would mean it goes with the touchwiz framework? or would this take a considerable amount of work i.e. more than one afternoon...
the camera on cyanogenmod was the reason I went back to stock because the samsung camera just takes amazing pictures. the CM camera is a little more grainy and does not focus as well.
hello - "bumping"
any solution found yet?
When the problem first started I was running CyanogenMod 11 nightly. It ran sporadically and I replaced the battery, which fixed all of the problems I was experiencing except for the camera crash. I tried out SlimRom and then back to CM but it doesn't seem to work on any ROMs. I also tried disabling the built in camera and using the Google camera, and vice versa.
There are two error it gives:
Camera Error!
Cannot connect to camera.
And:
Unfortunately, camera has stopped.
I assume that the first error is given by the application and the second error is given by android itself.
The really weird thing, is that the CamScanner app can access my camera fine without crashing.
I have just been dealing with the issue, because I have tried everything I can think of to fix it. But I would like to use my camera as I am sure anyone could understand.
If anyone could brainstorm up any ideas as to why its crashing, feel free to share.

After updating Cyanogenmod to the latest nightly, the problem persists.
For anyone who has the same problem, I did deep digging on the web and found some flashable zips marketing themselves as camera fixes, but all of then failed.
I did however come up with a work around that I am perfectly comfortable with keeping permanently. I installed the ex-cyanogenmod camera -- Focal.
Focal is on the Google play store and hasn't crashed for me once yet. Why get rid of something that ain't broke, Cyanogenmod?

i think the slimROM thread has a camera-fix-.zip on it , or did. but i see you fixed the issue.:good:
"all i can really do , is stay out of my own way and let the will of heaven be done"
I found at least 4 different ones for the Galaxy S3 but all of them failed. I'll have look into the SlimRom one though because I don't think that was one of the ones I tried.
Hi guys. Ok, I will try to make this as easy as I can.
I just got this phone and I finally got it with a fresh ROM. Now, the camera sucks. I dont like it at all.
I got used to the one on my S3 Mini with custom ROM (PAC-MAN Rom), but now I cannot find it anywhere, or at least, one that will work on my phone.
If Im not mistaken, on the market, its this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=photo.android.hd.camera
Its great, quick pics, auto focus, pics while in video recording... etc etc.
But it has TONS of ads. It sucks balls, because you are taking pics and you get a big ass ad in the middle of the screen, and "recomended apps" on the corner. So, I searched my files and found the ROM I used to have on my S3 Mini, searched for the camera APK and put it on my S3 to install it. It didnt. It wouldnt want to install. Not from the phone, ADB, etc.
So, I installed the one on the market, replaced the apk file with my wanted camera, and opened, for about 2 mins until started to freeze, not take pics and then not opening at all.
So, my question is, is there anyone who has it already installed? Can the market one can be modded to get rid of the ads? Maybe adapt my apk to make it install? Something?
BTW, here is a copy of the camera app I want to make work.
