[Q] regret buying a vita, plan to sell vita and buy a psp? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys i just recently bought a ps vita wifi version 2 days ago with 8gb memory card. total cost is 401$ in my country.
and after 2 days i regret on buying it because of lack of games and games are too expensive. i already bought little big planet ps vita and resistance burning skies. both games are fun and awesome not to mention the multiplayer is a lot of fun. but im buying the vita is actually to play psp games because it has dual analogs so psp fps games are much easier to play on it.
but i found out the psp games on the psn are ridicilously expensive compare to my local stores (15-20$ difference). and i want to play ps1/psx on it as well but again the games are expensive and i can just easily download the psp iso and psx roms of the internet and play it on my phone (fpse) which the psp can do that very easily with cfw installed. which makes me regret of buying the vita. i mean i should just buy a psp at the first place and i can play a dozens of games on day 1. with cfw of course LOL
so im planning to sell my vita to buy a psp go yes psp go not the psp 3000. i prefer my handheld to be more portable unlike psp 3000 if i put it inside my pocket can damage the analog and the psp go is not because it is slide. then i plan after i sell my vita i buy a psp go, after that i will get $200 money left and i plan to buy a ps3. never had a ps3 before been a pc gamer the whole life after ps2.
do you think this is a wise decision? selling my ps vita to buy a psp go and buy a ps3?
sorry this may be a wrong forum but what the heck. what do do you think xperia gamers?

What? Almost all my classmates got the PSP. Thats too mainstream. I bought this phone cuz this is "lighter Vita" + smartphone = ftw

I highly doubt you can get 401$ back unless you return for a full refund. I don't recommend getting a a PSP as it is really dated and since you have a gaming computer, why not do PSP/PSX/PS2 emulation? Do you REALLY need PSP and PSX games on the go? As for the PS3, unless a lot of your friends have it, I wouldn't get it. In your situation I would upgrade my gaming computer(If I had one). Personally, I think that you don't need a secondary handheld device if you have a smartphone. I NEVER use my PSP anymore. Despite the better games on PSP, I'd rather play on Android.
My advice: Sell the vita if you don't like it. Then with $401 upgrade your gaming computer if it's not already good. If that's already a satisfactory computer for your gaming needs, then idk. But don't buy a console. Just play PSP games on your computer

yes of course im not getting the full 401$ back after i selling it. if people considering buying my ps vita i will reduce the price to $390 because of it will become a second hand after a second use. so with that 390$ i can buy a psp go $228. so my total money would become $162. and oh, i still got my vita games for sale too little big planet and resistance. little big planet cost 69$ when i first bought it and im gonna sell it for $65. then my total money would become $225. and with that $225 left, im gonna by myself a ps3 with a little bit add of money of course.
no no i dont need to upgrade my pc because i already have a high end gaming pc.
yes i do need a psp/psx games on the go thats why i want to buy a playstation PORTABLE
i will never use a phone to play games regularly because phone is not meant for gaming besides the xperia play with dedicated gaming button but this is not the point and i will not buy myself an xperia play. i dont really care and i already know the psp is outdated but i just want a portable gaming console on the go.
what do you think??

Hi,
I think it is a very good idea to sell you vita and buy a ps3 and psp. I had a lot of experiences with the psp cfw and it was awsome, till my psp was stolen . But if the only reason why you want to sell your ps vita is that the games are to expensive and the catalogus is to small my advice is waiting. The psvita hackers are busy with the hacking progress of the vita. As far as I know the system firmware in now 1.81. They are all ready hackers who secceeded to get psp and psx games working, but it is just at this moment not the right moment to release this things. My advice is wait till system version 2.80/ 3.00 you will see amazing things for the vita .

finally someone with experience with the psp. im sorry with your psp stolen.
yes the games for the ps vita is too expensive for me. even some ps3 games are much cheaper than 1 ps vita games. and yeah the ps vita games library is really small and the only game worth to wait is assasins creed and cod retribution. but if i had a ps3, both of that games will not matter.
of course i know there will be a cfw for the vitas omeday, but definitely not this year. and probably not anytime soon too. because if you think of it it is too early to release a cfw for the vita. yes my vita is on the latest version 1.81 just updated it since day 1. i dont really care about any updates because the games price will not be drop any time soon so whats the point.
btw may i ask, do ps1 games lags on the psp. i kinda want to play toy story 2 and twisted metal psx on the psp while im on bed.

I woul do the same if I wear you honestly, I actually wanted to buy the vita too but my brother bought so i looked at it and my thoughts were that I can buy it when there will be a cfw available. So just go for it but my advice for the PS3 if you want to buy it look first for the games you would like to play i have bought it just to play 3 or 4 games so think good about the PS3.
PS1 games runs perfect on the PSP you won't have any problems to play them.

My advice, buy a vita if you have a job and a salary so that you can buy all the games on psn and local stores.
If you are like me, still in college and no salary given then forget it.
Haha same bro! I thought the same, when i bought the vita there is a cfw already available but no.
Yes of course bro, if i buy ps3 in my local store i will be given 4-5 free chosen games and im gonna choose it wisely.
Thank you, you have made my decision. There are already people contacting me interested to buy my vita. Hopefully he will buy it today and i will buy a psp go tonight ps3 tomorrow so that i can play a tons of games on my psp since day 1 unlike ps vita, I can only play lbp, resistance since day 1 only, and fifa 13 and uncharted demo.
So yeah my vita is currently just sitting on my desk. Thank you again

Get a 3DS - I've never regretted this purchase I made 6 months ago. Heaps of great games including Metal Gear Solid, Super Mario 3D Land, Kid Icarus and soon Smash Bros and Monster Hunter. You can pick them up cheap no because people are upgrading to the XL.
PSPs are dated, Vitas are not yet viable (wait for COD, Elder Scrolls and others), Xperia Play can play any PSX game so for good quality mobile gaming I use 3DS.

are you serious?

Nope, you don't.
I don't have an xbox and can play anything I want on my wp7.
Because of the great experience I'm having with xbox live, I'm kind of thinking about purchasing an xbox 360.
Ha! So am I!
the xbox live feature is the most annoying/buggy/over complicated thing on my phone

Anyone thinking of buying a 360 do it do it now. The on-line gaming is on another level. Try playing cod on a ps3 then on the xbox and you will see what i mean.

Behold the magic of "Synergy" and marketing, LOL. You really can't go wrong with a current gen 360 though. I actually just replaced my old style model with a brand new 250GB slim with Kinect bundle ($319.99 at Dell a couple of weeks ago, basically I got Kinect for $20! Nice!) I own all three platforms (PS3 slim and launch Wii still going strong) but use 360 the most, by far. It just has the better game library, and somehow, some way...the ****ers got me hooked on achievements

I like how you want devs to work on things for this device, but you openly say that you STEAL apps. Why would anyone want to develop anything that you might use, they know they'll get it stolen.

In his defense, there is so much inconsistency in apps for android that sometimes you kinda do this in order not to spend money on a game and not have it work, I would gladly pay three times what they are charging if I was certain they would work. Ipad definitely has it beat in that department.
How the hell do you get these to work on the A101. I've tried the Galaxy Tab versions, the HD versions, etc. I can't get any to work.

If anyone is on the fence on trying this game, the price has dropped from $6.99 to .99 cents. I should of waited for this deal but oh well. This game runs well on the Nexus 7, yes it a copy of WOW but it works.
Edit: If anyone needs help playing this game let me know, I'll gladly get your guys/gals started.

No Tutorial; just some easy beginner Quests.
Only thing that really frosts me about Order and Chaos is that they dropped the subscription charge for IOS users - but not Android.
Android users are paying for the IOS Servers with our subscriptions.
Only $.99 a month (after November), but shees...

From what I can gather, it's definitely a great value at 99 cents but the end game is largely cash driven.
So play for fun, but don't take it seriously (grinding) unless you're well aware of the financial commitment that those hours will lead to.

I bought this back during the winter .99cent sale. Great game. I have one character at level ~40 and another at like ~20.
It never played on my Transformer right without hacks and tweaks and I got tired of playing on my Galaxy Nexus. My subscription is expired probably and I probably won't renew. Was a fun run though. I played through a few dungeons with some high level guys healing me constantly. Had my fill for .99
I did buy a 6month subscription. I may have time left. Maybe ill try and pick it back up.

Hey man I registered xda just to say I got owned by this, just bought it 3 days ago. With my 25 dollas from Google. I call this game WoW 2 and its worthy of that, my wife leans over and says "you spent 200 bucks to play wow in bed"..."yep".
My user is Krazypickle...add me if you want a buddy.
Im gonna give a short review just because.
Controls I give a 7 and that is partially my tablet touch newbness, they seems to lag a bit or stop working altogether half the time, im also getting some choppyness...not sure if its network or graphic. This game may not be totally optimized from what I can tell. Im gonna connect my ps3 controller....might help?
Graphics = to WoW (slightly off, but pretty much and I feel this is a compliment)
New features is sweet, I feel the rogue is unique....timed stealth, stealth during combat, bonus while stealth, multiple proc possibilities, enertaining for sure. Cant wait to try other classes.
Its super weak, you buy the game then pay a subscription I think? Annnnnnnnd they make it possible to buy gold.....pretty weak in my opinion. Im gonna play without buying gold...makes it more fun anyhow. Just like Rage of Bahaumut, havent spent a dime....getting my ass kicked lol.
Im waiting for my nexus to charge lol

You don't have to buy Gold. Gold is just regular in game currency for 1000 silver. I really liked Order and Chaos and went ahead and bought a 6mo subscription (expired now). I grew tired of making it work on my old tablet and gave up on it. My level 40 is a female warrior and I have a lvl20 male archer or whatever. I really like the Archer more. Seems most of the enemies are dead by the time they even walk over to me.
I would focus on your skills. My warrior is a blacksmith and does weapons and armor. It is kind of confusing how you level that up. But how it works is through a weird kind of experience. The more you use your skill the more "skill credits" you have. Then you find your skill master in the big main city. There you can spend your "skill credits" on purchasing various crafts, but don't waste your credits. Instead focus on buying upgraded Master Books (Master II, Master III, Master IV).
Focusing on increasing your skill sets also will pay you very well when you go to sell this stuff. I typically sell the higher grade stuff in the online market for 1-2 gold a piece. You also want to sell stuff like large groups of wool and other stuff that is required for other types of skills because collecting can be a pain. Some people just opt to spend 1-2 gold on a bundle of raw material. Plus you get nothing for selling it at a shop.
There are two people in our household who are at endgame, and neither has had to spend a dime in real world money to advance their character. You *can*, but you don't have to. For example, a lot of people, when they hit 60, spend fifteen bucks on 'rune gear'. It gives them a full set of gear they can effectively run legendaries in. You can get the same gear from lvl60 dungeon runs and from world bosses, though. My son (JackChurchil @ Swamp of Wyrms) is actually buying his rune set for his archer tomorrow.
I've got a lvl42 healer monk hybrid ( Daede @ Swamp of Wyrms ) that already has a full set of world-drop gear sitting in storage waiting for me to hit the levels where I can wear them, including a really nice lvl51 healer tunic, that is actually better than the rune-gear healer robe.. It's all stuff Orion (JackChurchil) picked up on his way to 60 or while doing dailies at 60...
My brother, Ben, has a 60 Warrior tank ( WoopAss @ Swamp of Wyrms ), and has no real intention of buying rune gear. He's got a rare tanking sword, a real nice rare shield, and a decent set of collected-it-along-the-way tank gear, all with no real money investment other than the game itself.
Legendary runs use a system called 'exhaust', and while you can use runes (real money) to replenish your exhaust, it also replenishes automatically on a daily basis. A typical legendary run costs between 9 and 17 exhaust, and you have 100 to spend per day, so unless you literally sit n the game and no-life it *all day*, you most likely won't see a reason to consistently spend money.
You can spend money to craft, but on the server we play on (being very low population) you really don't need to. The bosses that drop the crafting mats you can buy with runes aren't actively farmed, so there's a good chance you can get what you need.
Just my two-cents. If anybody is interested in playing with us, we are:
Guild: All.6's.and7's
Server: Swamp of Wyrms
Officers:
Me (Jay): Daede (monk) / Machine (warrior) / Daena (ranger) / Isis (mage)
Orion: JackChurchil (ranger) / Roku (monk) / Øríon (warrior) / FireLordOzai (mage)
Ben: WoopAss (warrior) / CottonPicka (mage) / NecroHealer (monk) / BudSmoker (ranger)
When adding people to friends, teams, or sending whispers, capitalization does matter.
Feel free to hit us up in-game, anytime

Any good RPG's?

I've been playing GBA RPGs for a while on this phone and am looking for some good Android-native RPGs. I was looking at the Final Fantasy ones but I am not paying $7-16 for games I already have on my DS. Any suggestions? Free preferable. I already have Battleheart.

Lol, I know how to search RPG on Google Play. I obviously want people's opinions on what they like to play. Why does EVERYTHING on this forum have to be Google it or search the play store.

LOL I know! Seems like its everyone deems someone that asks a noob or lazy...
I've been looking for this too! Tried Zenonia, its kool but the 3rd and 4th are pay to play, in game unlockable for cash :/ why is it becoming a tendency?
One thing I've been searching is for a good tactical RPG like Ogre Battle or Final Fantasy Tactics, the closest thing I've found is Spectral Souls and it's $14.99 Reason I haven't bought it yet, thanks to the new 15min limit rebate, I won't know if it's really that good to keep or if I don't run into problems during the download of the extra 1.5GB of data
A good hack/slash RPG is Caligo Chaser, it's $2.99 but worth it. Good controls and decent continuous story line, played it non stop for days.
Another one is Across Age DX, it's a free trial and unlock once you finish the intro phase. The developers compare it to Zelda, but for me it's more like Wild Arms 1 gameplay. They are very similar, tools and co-op with party members. The story seems good so far and the dialog is well put together too. Haven't unlocked it yet, but I will once I clear out some minor debt...
How's Battleheart working for you? Just saw the vid and it seems really good, somewhat a rip off the old FF jobs though :/ Noticed what seemed like Paladin, monk, white mage, dark mage, etc -___-
Edit - I haven't installed any EMUs yet due to onscreen controls being uncomfortable for me, huge hands... I'm considering getting the PS3 control adapter for the phone and use that. forgot what it was and didn't bookmark the site *facepalm*
Kemco makes several that are pretty cheap ($3~4 last I checked). Eve of Genesis and Symphony of Eternity just to name two of them. Gamevil makes one or two. I have Illusia from them. Also downloaded Inotia3 (which is free) a couple of days ago, but I really haven't touched any of them with the exception of Symphony of Eternity.
Like you I've eyed the Final Fantasy games, but I'm not paying that much. Spectral Souls has been on my list too, but again... Not paying $15 for it.
Problem with the free ones is that they're free to play, but to get anything worth getting you have to pay for it... as you know from Zenonia.

The problem with the 15 min is you can't really judge an RPG in 15 min!!! It takes way longer, especially if they have intros/tutorials.
I haven't played Battleheart in a while but I like it......didn't really have a story though. Maybe I did and missed it.
As far as EMUs I haven't been able to gague my phone's battery life at all because I spend almost an hour a day playing Pokemon LeafGreen lmao. My coworkers think I'm nuts now. I paid the $4.99 for VGBA and I have to say it was worth every dime. Especially since I figured out how to transfer my files to the PC and trade with other EMU saves......after I finish up with Pokemon I'm probably going to play Golden Sun which I never got around to but heard is great.

That's why I've stayed away from buying a few...
Never was into Pokemon... Now Golden Sun for GBA, that I played (during my breaks from my old job lol) and still have both cartridges Golden Sun and Golden Sun Lost Age. The game has an awesome storyline and plot, the battle system is good and the Dijnns (summons) are a nice.

I'm just going to get a flash cart for my DS. Is only $20. I was thinking about buying a PSP too but I'm stick with my DS. If you can pick up a DS Lite for cheap (40-60) and a flash cart for $20 that might be a good investment......
Also, I haven't checked out any of the games suggested but am going to do that this weekend.

I've been considering the DS and flash cart, it's dead cheap. But my better half is most likely going to get the 3DS and it can use the flash card too, but not for 3D games, yet that is.
Was goin for the psp cause of some of the RPGs and FF tactics, though there's the DS one... Idk, now you got me undecided lmao
Check out http://buy.thegameklip.com it an adapter that attaches your PS3 controler to the phone.

I'd get the SuperCard DSTWO for the 3DS. It's like $40 depending on where you get it from. There are cheaper ones but from what I know this is the only one that is constantly working as the 3DS firmware upgrades come in.
AND get the PSP lol. The PSP is worth it just for being able to play Final Fantasy 7-9 in my opinion.

Thanks, I'll have that in mind for when they get the 3DS.
As for me, spoke with a friend and he might be able to build a PSP from parts he has lying around, he repair them on the side. I settled on the psp

Lucky you. I had a PSP a while ago that I had modded but I wound up selling it because I didn't really use it at the time. I wish I had kept it. From looking on EBay/Craigslist I think people are wayyyy overpricing their 3000's.
you don't really need an adapter to use ps3 or wii controllers. They both use Bluetooth and their are neat apps for connecting them, remapping buttons ect....

ETERNITY WARRIORS 2!!! it's the best damn game. It's a little unstable and has some lag but it's awesome... multiplayer menu lag is horrible. It just me who has fps drop randomly for a sec and have unresponsive game buttons in menus?

[Q] Buy Ouya for XMBC, Cheapcast and Emulators?

Ok, guys... Ouya is not available in my country, but I have one opportunity to buy this console, since my friend is in the USA atm.
I am not interested in Ouya games (some are too expensive for my taste). I'm thinking of buying the console for video playback (MX Player or XMBC), Cheapcast (to stream from my Nexus) and emulating some old gaming systems (GBA, NES, Sega, etc).
I don't like the fact that it's easily brickable (I know you don't like that, too).
Should I buy it for that? What's your opinion?
Go for it.
I am more than happy using mine for XBMC and emulators along with side loaded games and a few choice Ouya games.

I bought it for xbmc but to be honest, I think that i would have been better off doing more research. It was an impulse buy and if you are going tobe doing emulation and side loaded stuff you may as well spend the money elsewhere.

OK the xbmc part is debatable, personally i enjoy mine using xbmc but i can see others frustrated with it. However I'm curious about the emulation part, I am running the nes, genesis and a few other emulators on it without a hiccup and absolutely love it for that. It is probably only a matter of time before someone does a good port of mame to it and that will just add to it.
what the unit does and the form factor, or a better way to put it not having to have a full pc there to do these little things. and if i want to do something more powerful normally i'm at my desk for that anyway.

I think android and a small set top box are the correct OS and form factor for TV displayed emulation but i say money could be better spent elsewhere for the following reasons. For XBMC, the controller is horrible. It just is. If you want a decent remote to go with the Ouya it will run you at least $35 or $40. For most other stuff the Controller is not the best and a PS3 controller seems to be the current controller of choice for gaming. If you get an android HTPC it will still be able to pair a remote (or use flirc) as well as pair with a PS3 controller. The other selling point with a Non-ouya android device is that you are not given a version of the android OS which needs to be modded to use the Play store. My final complaint and the biggest is the wifi is just horrible, just. plain. horrible. Moving the wireless router or running a cable 35 feet to the living room are not options and it is the only device with such bad performance.
that is my rant... i just talked my self out of an Ouya... too bad i didn't write this $99 ago.

OK i have to argue about the controller part of this. if you are geeky enough to buy an ouya then you have at least 1 tablet laying around, dont say you do not because you do. the xbmc remote for android or ios devices works great for xbmc and the ouya so really that is not an excuse for complaining about the controller for controlling the ouya when in xbmc.
now setting it up sucks, but there is a way around that to, it's called plug in a usb keyboard for 10 minutes and setup your network shares and all.

I am geeky enough and currently use that solution at times although honestly, I dislike the XBMC remote on the phone and tablet. I like buttons that I can push. Aside from personal preference, that solution is only valid if the box stays in XBMC and XBMC is used as a launcher for android programs and another controller is handy and paired. The other issue is that solution is only valid if I am both home and willing to let the other people in the house use my phone or tablet as a remote so they can use XBMC.
So while I agree there are other solutions for controlling XBMC I don't think they justify the purchase of the Ouya simply because they are available, especially since they are generic apps and will be available regardless of the android based set top you buy. Why pay the price for the Ouya controller so you can immediately implement a solution that is suitable for the situation.
Sad news, guys. A friend went to BestBuy in NYC yesterday to buy me an Ouya. http://stores.bestbuy.com/1448/
They had 3 of them and all were sold yesterday during the day. The nearest BestBuy was 15 blocks away and he didn't have the time to go there. Today he is flying back home, so no Ouya for me... :/
It's a piece of sh***... Don't waste your money for this console or whatever it was supposed to be. I have it and I hate it... Waste of time and money... Get a real android or Linux device and that makes you happy
