seems it has a lot of problems...I've been lurking thru the Q&A forums and people have a lot of hardware problem ...witch really concerns me...I bought it new...but...again did I make the right choice??? How can I avoid it over heating?? Didn't even knew that was possible.

I was also disappointment from the HOX. I heard great things about it before buying,
but after using it and seeing problems arise, I starting to think of selling it.
The main thing that made me angry about HTC it's the wifi hardware problem.
Instead of making this right, Like any big firm, and replacing my device (maybe with compensation even)
HTC Support only solution for me is sending them the device for 6-8 weeks!! and paying another 30$ for
it. (Well for shipping it to them)
Although overall, the HOX is pretty good phone (apart from the battery issues and some design flows)
HTC's QA control and how it treats costumers made it worse!
I think I'm done with HTC for the future ...
it's the best actually! xda community is the hottest on this device (except for nexuses), it has really beautiful design and really really good display! i'm coming from a super amoled and this is just WOW!
about lags and other things, don't care, it's all gone with latest updates and anyway with custom roms you'll not have any lag, so i think that if you'll find it for about 450€ it's you best choice.
p.s.: about wifi problem, it's really annoying sometimes, but it's not on all devices, just on firsts, so maybe if you'll buy it now you won't have problem, or at least, here on xda you can find many tutorials about how to fix it

Thanks bro. Hey I got another question my software version is 1.89 and I REALLY want 2.17 the new one. How can I get it??? Tried to install it via software update. And I cant. It just loads then takes off. Nothing happens. And I know there's a new software it needs. I have my phone on H2O. If that matters . I'm completely stock. No root.no Rom. Help please :/

Only some batches of the HOX had defective hardware, so far the only problem my HOX has is heating while charging and using. Although the software is kinda messy (kernels especially), HTCSense is the most beautiful interface ive used so far.

Post your base rom version (1.89.xxx.xx) to know whether you can find an ruu flasher.

Hey guys,
I've recently discovered a loop hole in the Sense 4 lockscreen on the One X. It would be greatly appreciated if you bring awareness to this issue. Unfortunately, since this is my first post, I am unable to include any links to the YouTube video I have made. Hopefully I can post it as a reply to this thread because its very interesting.
I think I'm the only one that knows about this. So please comment if you have this issue too.
I'm guessing you mean where you can get the ICS entry screen on the security lock?

No, but if your the guy that left a comment on the Engadget post about HTC and left a link to your video too than its your video I've seen.
I wouldn't call it a bug, as it doesn't affect the system in a negative way, in fact I think it looks better then the Sense overlay they added.

Haha small world! I have the Galaxy Nexus and it was my brothers One X. He always tells me to find a way to disable Sense or find a ROM that uses the Stock ICS. He believes that native ICS on the One X would be the best.
I'm loving my Galaxy Nexus, can't wait to get my hands on the Galaxy S 3 and so excited to see what the next Nexus would be like.
It kinda sucks that I can't post the YouTube link here though.

Hey dude, I'm the guy with the funny voice talking about the glitch with the HTC Sense, I've been looking for a Custom ROM which runs on the Vanilla ICS for the One X but I have been unlucky
If you ever come across any good build Custom ROMS please do let me know.
Cheers, and do pass the link around, perhaps someone would know how to bypass the HTC Sense without having to complete it replacing it

Until you get enough posts to include links, you can always get around that by putting spaces in the URL, which people can then remove.

I was going to get the Nexus, but then the One X sorta got dragged into the equation and it was purely because of the displays that I went for the One X. I probably would have gone for the One S were it non-pentile. I don't care what you say, the One X is pure gorgeous compared to the S3

I'd do a search for you, but I'm using my phone at the moment not a computer and I'm extremely busy. If you browse the development section of the One X forums I know for a fact there is a One X Vanilla ROM. Don't bother searching, just go OneX>Development and browse around those top threads, plenty of other ROM's there too. It'll likely be on page 1 or 2.

Yeah I personally didn't like the design of the Galaxy S 3, the One X does look sexy but ever since my Sensation XE I've lost interest in HTC Sense. The Galaxy S 3 interface intrigues me although I hate Touchwiz. Well, I wouldn't mind giving it a try by the time the next Nexus comes out

I agree, Sense 3 was too heavy, Sense 3.5 was a fail and despite being created in tandem with Sense 4, Sense 3.6 really doesn't improve much.
Sense 4, different story. Still unstable, but give it a few months
Samsung's are only fast because they have **** software on then, that's an opinion not a fact. Touchwiz offers NO functionality more than the Stock Vanilla launcher, so why bother?

The one thing I long for on my phone is the time when the phone is locked. Old devices used to do it, like old Nokia's and the Lumia Symbian devices
For me, Sense improves the overall experience. I see Sense as an OS. Really it is Sense featuring Android, not Android featuring Sense, but that just shows how dedicated to improving and innovating software HTC are, now optimization is the key!
Phones need something like Windows Update, exploits and problems are found all the time, but fixes are never rolled out individually unless they are extremely crucial.

Thanks for pointing the space technique out bro, I was aware of it but could be bothered spacing it as jaaystott has already provided the link.lol
I've noticed a lot bugs mostly with the stock browser which I hardly use (mostly using Chrome), and I think HTC should invest a little more time on it as it's their flag-ship, but I'm also disappointed with how the One S beats the One X in all benchmarks. tsk tsk tsk....
Hopefully a well built ROM (Vanilla ICS) will come along and will get rid of all the heavy stuff in HTC Sense and will give a bit of an extra boost performance wise.

I know htc will not release it soon but I thought same processor can make porting process faster for developers of tegra 3 devices am I totally wrong?
I'm curious to see how long this will take to officially make it to our phones by OTA. Seeing as there's no UI changes really HTC don't have to change much with Sense, but I can still see this taking till 2013 lol.
No your not wrong. Porting may be easier because the soc is the same so driver's etc will be easier. Most of the work should be done basically since they both use tegra 3. But don't expect it till a while. Especially not from htc unless they pull a surprise.

Froyo was released may 20th 2010 and I can remember it getting it on my desire around mid juli, that's not to bad of htc. I can imagine gb to ics would take more time but the step from ics to jb is about as big as from eclair to froyo

Partly right, but there is a lot more than just the Tegra 3 SoC to require drivers for. It looks as if the overall system updates are fairly minimal (at least compared to GB->ICS which had big driver rewrites). We'll have to see how much can be reused from what we have for ICS and hopefully device tree changes will be minimal.
Might almost be time to start flashing the One X! :victory:
JB will arrive soon because Google announced PDT and JB PDT is already with major manufacturers so you should expect JB soon

Nice new feature in the JellyBean but I don't think that HTC can ever give us the same buttery smooth experience. One more reason why should manufacturers also make available clean Android OS at least as a optional flashable RUU. THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING. do it Google.

Not to be a buzz kill or anything but that wouldn't really work... You would need a new one for every device which isn't possible.. that's why they do just that (well, provide images) for their supported devices, the nexi. It would be up to HTC, and, quite frankly, that's never going to happen as i'ts not in their interest.

The changes in UI would be pretty much the thing which bothers OEM the less...
As they do their own on the top, the major issues for them is the framework in the background (yes, there is an ecosystem behind what you see on the screen ^^)
So, they need to adjust sense etc to the new changes introduced by Jellybean (thinking of the new syncing and triple buffering) But yeah... Normally it shouldn't take long to make a fully bugged and craploaded sense for JB... but they will take 6 month min I'm afraid...
(Or will it be as on the Desire ? -> The phone is not powerfull enough to handle a minor update :silly: )

I guess some things are too much of a trouble for the devs, think audio was the main issue apart from other stuff of course. And yeah, let it go dude there are already decent ICS roms out there if u want ICS... Btw if you plan on investing in a decent budget phone with Sense 4 I would suggest the One V - bought it for my girlfriend a few months ago and she loves it! And to be quite honest it simply delivers - it is very smooth and fluid, you get the whole sense 4 experience with a very few corners cut, being a few animations here and there and the helicopter view.
I think we can port desire V rom to desire, the spec of desire v is similar than desire

Of course we all hope that. I think there is one more update on the way than that'll be it. no drama though. I'm more interested in custom Rom releases than htc efforts to tell you the truth.

I would at-least want a fix for the Enterprise WiFi Fix before any fix !
Is anybody as excited as I am about the HTC One? Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing a port to our One X.
Can anybody see a reason why this would never happen?
Good Question. I am also interested. But the first problem should be solved first. It's the screen problem. hTC One has a full 1080p screen and One X only has 720p. So everything is needed to resize.
Sorry about my bad English.

That does pose an issue straight away. But surely it wouldn't be the first time we've seen a cross-resolution port? Then again, none pop to mind
What about starting with Sense 5, or even just some things like messaging etc. All depending of intirgration with the new framework i suppose. We'd really need the input from a developer here.
Android is famous for its abilities to change resolution on demand. In fact its one if the best things in my opinion. Just look at the clambook pro coming out soon, it amplifies your device screen to its own. Source
I'm curious to see if we can port the new Zoe feature for the camera, as i don't know if it depends 100% on the camera sensor of the HTC One, or it might be more of a software implementation, rather than hardware. Saw the video of the new camera interface and features and I gotta say, it's awesome.
Waiting to see if a port will be possible :fingers-crossed:
I hate the look of sense 5 though

Well, like some devs did for the SII initially, we'll have to start with resizing all the images to XHDPI, rather than its 1080P screen.
However, many of the features, like the camera might not work, since it depends on the new Image Sense chip and new hardware altogether AFAIK, so we would need to make or edit custom drivers and libs, which, is very difficult, not impossible tho AFAIK.
Hope this project is a successful one, Good Luck, and I'm here to contribute, of any help/contribution is needed

Thanks but it really would require the help of some really experienced devs and I'm getting the One soon, so maybe I can help from the other side?

You won't be able to port from the HTC One because of the screen res. By the time you finish resizing anything HTC would've released a new phone with Sense 5 and an XHDPI screen. Wait for that, then port.
As for the gallery and stuff it looks like it'd be a imagechip thing after the image has taken and is generated either in the camera app or in the background. If it is a CPU/GPU thing that launches when you use gallery it'll probably drain your battery pretty quickly using it, considering all the images you'll probably have.
If it is an imagechip thing you'll need to hack the camera app to use the old imagechip library. That might not work either though. So test it.

Yeah we're probably not getting sense 5.
Note how HTC never said the Sense 5 update and instead just said a general update. They have done this with other HTC products like the Sensation and its update to Sense 4. Instead of updating it to sense 4 they made sense 3.5. I see a similar thing happening for this phone.
But let's hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, I thought about the same thing. They are sneaking around the question and responding really wide.. I am sure I have seen one place where they actually said HOX would get it. Will look into it tomorrow.
