I recently installed AOKP JB Build 3 ROM on my GNex and noticed that Play Music and Gallery apps weren't the standard ones, in fact Play Music isn't there at all.
The Gallery app has no option to sync my Picasa pics. Before this AOKP ROM I was on Stock JB and loved this feature. Can someone please tell me how to get the Picasa Sync back to Gallery app?
Thanks in advance.
What gapps did you flash?
I'm using the one mentioned at the bottom of this page- http://aokp.co/index.php/releases/_/jb-build-3-r30
gapps | 20120726
I could be wrong but I don't think the standard gapps going around supports that sync. There is a thread over at Rootz by Formula84 that has a more up-to-date version of gapps that includes what I believe you're looking for.

He has an 8/31 and a 9/28 and there are 2 versions of each. One has picasa sync but overrides the ROM's extra camera features (burst, etc) and the other version has the camera features but no sync. I think so far picsync and cam features are mutually exclusive
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
There's been a problem with gallery sync, so there are 2 gapps versions around. One has gallery sync, one does not. You have to flash the other one.
We're not sure when this will be worked out but its annoying.

i've seen the same issue on multiple froyo rom ... it may be a common problem
Dont help none but I got same problem on Defrost 2.0g with latest radio. No picasa.
On dj Droid the google account mentions picasa (although I didnt check before I installed the gallery 3rd app) and gallery syncs, just can't upload

Picasa share not available...
Solved with replacing mediauploader.apk in system/app with the one from defrost 2.5 rom.
Install the FroYo Nexus 1 Gallery and you'll get the option. Picasa is not included by default unless you install the N1 3D Gallery.
I didn't get the option with gallery 3d on some roms. Neophyte has it though.

I think it might be the ROM you're using...
I'm actually with OpenDesire and I have the following options when trying to share a photo: facebook/bluetooth/picasa/messaging/twitter/gmail
I'm not sure about this but maybe is the Galery versiĆ³n of the ROM that might be different...
Its working fine for me with the Stock HTC Froyo upgrade.
I installed the Froyo version of the N1 3D Gallery from this thread:

And now if I select a photo, and then the share button I get the following options:
bluetooth/facebook/flickr/goggles/googlemail/handcent/mail/messages/picasa/youtube
Guys, are your Exchange calendars displayed and synced OK in 4.0.3?
Coming from HTC forums where we are having issues with the latest 4.0.3 mail/calendar/provider APKs....seems Samsung devs are also hitting this...
Using the latest HTC's own ICS 4.0.3 email APK it works OK...but all "AOSP-ized" Sense-less ROMs that use AOSP 4.0.3 mail APK are having the issue. When creating an exchange email account, choose to sync also calendar...when opening calendar app (AOSP), there is no Exchange calendar to choose to display or sync.
thx in advance!

hmm, thanks.
seems to be HTC base related then....
Various versions of gapps ( I presume that is also where you Google Apps come from on your rooted phone ) are having some problems with Calendar Sync, on Samsung devices aswell.
There are various workarounds, extracting the calendarapps (googlecalendar.apk? and calendarprovider.apk) from a different ICS 4.0 gapps package works.
Set right permissions and reboot (works for me on SGSI).
Or try flashing the gapps again or look for a fixer.
I've been on 2 ROMS since my purchase (AOKP/Rootzboat) and neither had issues with Exchange calendar syncs.
I've only had my Galaxy Nexus, replacing an Infuse, for a week now. the phone is rooted and has CWM recovery; otherwise is Verizon stock 4.03 (for now).
I can't get Exchange to sync to the calendar consistently. The gmail calendar works fine, but the exchange works for a day or so, then stops processing any changes (both ways). If I delete it and recreate the account, it works for a day or so, then same thing.
Any ideas? Specific gapps packages from other ICS builds to try?
Thanks.
I'm enjoying my rooted Sprint GS3. Flashing has become so addictive that I find myself checking the several XDA threads hoping there is an update!!
Since I've flashed ParanoidAndroid, I have lost a couple features that I enjoyed...and wondered if others have experienced these, and if there are ways to fix them.
- Gallery no longer syncs with Picasa. It only shows my camera pics and screenshots.
- The permanent search bar now only shows a search magnifying glass. It use to say Google.
- In the launcher, the shortcut to the play store appears to be the old style (bag with an android head on it, instead of the play button)
Thanks for whatever!
GO JELLYBEAN!!
i don't think so i think its the rom...
Not sure why u got the old style market would love to know what gapps ur using. That being said I'm sure a third party app is out there for syncing picassa. Can't help u as I have never used my camera and gallery. And picassa sync only worked in the tw gallery. As for the search bar and market my attachment should do. Just flash in recovery. http://db.tt/MgwriNtp
Thanks for the tips.

You should look at the change logs for the ROM you're running. I'm running StrongSteve's Odexed Blue 4.7 (which, by the way, is awesome - gotta like blue though...) and have the old-school market icon (labeled Market too) as well, but you can see in his change logs from a previous version that was something he intentionally did. Everything you described, except the Picasa sync issue, could just be the way the dev themed their ROM.
I don't know what to tell you regarding your sync problem...
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
As far as I know Picasa sync is broken in CM right now and PA is based of CM.
Guys, although the Nexus 7 and the GNx have almost the same screen resolution, the N7 shows events in Textview whereas the GNx shows only small lines for an event, so I modded the Stock-JellyBean-Calendar for my GNx as you can see in the attached screenshot or here at directupload:
http://s7.directupload.net/images/121119/o9bix4gi.png
For any ROM out there I recommend using the latest market version of the calendar, as this is bug fixed by Google.
But which version you take is your own choice, both work perfectly on all JB-ROMs (4.1/4.2) including AOSP, AOKP, CM10, TWRP...
Just flash the zip from CWM, but do a nandroid before (for your own security).
Update 07.11.2013:
- maintaining the newest version here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47222855
Update 31.05.2013:
- Updated to new market version (v 201305280)
- CWM package
Update 13.12.2012:
- Updated to new market version (v 201212060)
- Lockscreen Widget for 4.2
- New event picker in month view (long press)
Just flash in CWM. If you encounter errors, please uninstall any previous calendar with Titanium Backup and try a new flash. The problems with my old mod were signing problems, sorry for that.
Update 16.11.2012:
- Updated to new market version (v 201210220)
- according to Google, the battery consumption should be lower
- If you don't see the calendar after flashing, please flash the first market version first, reboot, then flash the new version.
Thanks to Finner42 for this idea, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34591851&postcount=64
Update 18.10.2012 the 2nd:
- Added modded new market version (v 201210120)
Update/Changelog 18.10.2012:
- CWM flashable zip
- Changed from GoogleCalendar 4.1.1 to 4.1.2
- some small fixes with the color squares
Old (archived) files:
Market Calendar 201212060: http://ul.to/h25nmaoz
Market Calendar 201210220: http://ul.to/0p2w4aqh (don't use!)
Market Calendar 201210120: http://ul.to/mxq278r8
AOSP 4.1.2 Calendar: http://ul.to/53ih6ior
Differences between the stock 4.1.2 and the market calendar:
The market version syncs back events up to one year, whereas stock calendar syncs back to 3 weeks only (standard android behaviour). To get synced one year when you had stock calendar before: you have to delete the data in -> settings -> apps for "Calendar" and "Calendar Provider" and sync again manually after that.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you have updated the calendar via market before, you have to uninstall this update before flashing, otherwise you will see nothing. Android prefers the .apk in /data/app over any system-apk in /system/app - that is a pretty normal behaviour.
Enjoy!
Additional Information:
Just a note as some people are unsure about GApps and CM10/AOKP. This is only important for people who like to know deeper. If you flash via CWM or are on Stock ROM, you don't have to worry about this:
In every official GApps (even the newest ones) are the old sync adapters from ICS which work with CM10 calendar (and have dark colors).
The market calendar and the stock-JB-calendar have its own sync adapter included, so you should delete GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk too, when you delete (CM10-) Calendar.apk
NEVER delete calenderprovider.apk, account information and the data is stored in there!
My modded calendar has an update script which cares for either situation, so that it can be used in CM10 and/or StockROMs.
Besides: Paranoid Android users don't need the modded calendar, as you may use tablet UI in market calendar for sure.
If you like to mod yourself, here are instructions for code changes:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35414528&postcount=80
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ROM-COOKERS:
Surely you may include this mod in your ROMs if you like it. I got a few PNs the last days but wasn't online here, sorry for that.
I got so much from xda and from other (real) developers, that it makes me happy if you consider this mod useful!
Added CWM flashable zip, should be easier for all of you.
Works on every JB-ROM, odexed and deodexed (AOSP, CM10...)
Please do a Nandroid before, just in case...!
Thank you for this mod. I like it. But can you please do this with the calendar from Android 4.1.2. or tell me how I can do it by myself. I don't know if there is something new in this version of the calendar but it got a new version number so maybe some Bugfixes.
According to the official Google changelog there is only a widget background change in 4.1.2, otherwise it's the same as 4.1.1
You have to modify "integers.xml" for the text size labels and "bools.xml" for general work of the new layout (in /res/values)
In addition, some things are hardcoded in /smali/com/android/calendar/month/MonthWeekEventsView.smali (text size of event time and the color squares)
In summary there's no real difference between those calendars. If I'm on 4.1.2 I will change this and update this post, in the meantime you can use the 4.1.1 with no loss of function.
[edit]
New 4.1.2 is online
I flashed this on top of the 4.1.2 Calendar update published on Google Play but did not work.
I then restored a 4.1.1 Calendar backup from Titanium then reflashed the zip but still didn't work.
I then uninstalled the 4.1.2.Calendar update directly from Google Play (not from Apps or Titanium Backup) and then it worked.
FYI.
I will update this thread in a few hours, am on mobile now.
New market calendar is already modded. If you can't wait get it here:

Thanks for this note. This is a normal behaviour in Android, I put an explanation in the first post.
Updated the opening post with the new market calendar!

Thank you, everything works fine
Will try this out later.
Shameless post to subscribe to this thread because I'm lazy.
Also, thanks for this... Fixes one of my biggest gripes with gapps. I have a friend running cm9 on his galaxy s who is pretty outspoken about how crap the stock calendar app is... Is this apk likely to work for him?

I wasn't trolling, it's just that I thought you were exaggerating the size of Galaxy Nexus' screen.
And by the way, they don't have the same resolution either. Nexus 7's screen is larger in width by 80 pixels.

GoogleApps (GAPPS) 4.2
download link: http://d-h.st/Khw
just flash zip in recovery mode. ( this zip will replace camera, clock and other stuff from jb 4.1 with stuff from new release 4.2 )
These apps are not mine, i'm only reporting them for the community.
Does photosphere work?
What's working and what's not working on our one x?
What works and doesn't work will depend on what ROM and possibly Kernel you're using.
I just tried on my One X and my Xperia S both running the latest CM10 nightlies.
Everything seems to work on both devices except for Photosphere.
On the Xperia S it just crashes back to the launcher straight away. On the One x the app launches, but as soon as you start to capture the scene, it crashes back to the launcher and the phone gets super hot.
I'm interested to know if Photosphere works for anyone else.
Also, as this replaces the clock app, make sure you set your alarms up again or you'll miss work tomorrow! lol
camera is much better in 4.2
Just about everything is working really well. Camera is incredibly speedy, but photosphere doesn't work.
Also I wouldn't install the calendar from that package, as the one on the play store is more recent.
Everything seems to work nicely even photosphere for me running orio rom

So it's safe to say that nothing has changed with photosphere compared to last week - it works on jb sense but not aosp.

All the apps except the camera work perfectly fine and its a really good package. The camera (gallery app) crashes every time it detects a face. This problem exists on every available camera port.
Good job though :good:
Hi, I saw that there was an HDR mode on the 4.2 camera (at the 12oclock) position but this doesnt appear on the camera.
Would that be Nexus 4 specific?

Hey,
Even im running the official CM10 nightly on my HOX. But the cam seems to crash whenever it detects a face. Rest works fine (except the photosphere).
misleading... these are pre 4.2 apps, meaning anything fixed or added after 4.2 final update came out
isn't included. I'm really kind of annoyed.

Both files have the same checksum, so should be identical.
We'll probably just have to wait for proper gapps to come out.
