I just joined Xda forum. I've downloaded some ROM and would like to thank. But I can't find the Thank button.
I have gone to other posts explaining where the Thank button should be!

Now you've made your first post, the "Thanks" button should be showing up at the bottom left of every post.

Is there a way to determine what posts I was thanked for?
Click on your username at the top right of any page....
Clicks "Statistics" then "Find all thanked posts by (your username)"...

Click on the "Show/Hide" just underneath it to see which users thanked you....
thank you. you can close now.
Hello, all.
First of all, let me say that I did not make the decision to create a thread lightly. I have been a member of this forum for over a year, and this is my first post. I have looked everywhere, but cannot find this simple answer.
How do I thank a member for his/her excellent work? Specifically, I have been trying to thank twa_priv for his excellent Kindle Fire JB build, which I have been using fr the last week or so. I cannot find a thank button. I do not have permission to post in the thread; (which I do not have any intention of doing, anyway, unless I have a specific question or error to report) but, does that mean I do not have permission to thank? Do I need to spam away 9 more posts to have the right to thank someone? I read that there should be a picture of a flower (or, at least, there would be on Tapatalk, which I am not using), but don't see anything of the sort using Chrome on Ubuntu.
Thank you in advance.

Now that you have replied, the "Thanks" button has appeared on your and others' posts. I don't understand why it wasn't before, but all is fine now. Thank you!

Hey, and you even hit it. Awesome! Perhaps you just need someone to reply to one of your posts to activate it initially? I learned something today.
Give thanks
left side there is a thanks button
To activate the thanks button, you need atleast one post as a member...

And after posting sign out and back in. That is what worked for me.
And thanks to a.cid for posting how to be a new user. I read that a while back, before I ever joined xda. :banghead:

That's exactly the information I was looking for. The link was helpful, too. You may have noticed that I gave a disclaimer to my post. I have been using this forum for thirteen months without ever having posted anything. I felt like a total jerk for even having had to create a thread for something so trivial. I usually search and easily find the answer to any question, but was not finding anything about this. I am certainly trying not to be obnoxious to anyone. Thanks again!

We need more members who know how to search for answers. The fact that you made it 13 months without posting is impressive.
Thank you all for this post. Had I searched a day or two earlier, it probably would have been a lot harder to find this info.
Moved to About XDA section.
hopefully this solves it
I have the same problem. Hopefully this first post of mine will reveal the illusive thanks button

You will need a few more thanks to move the meter, 24 more to be exact. Good Luck!!
[GUIDE] How to be a New User (and not a noob)
Trying to be a good new user I searched for how to give thanks and found this thread instead of spaming other threads with "Thanks for posting" Appreciate the clarification on why I couldn't see the thanks button.
Thank YOU!
I actually joined this site just to thank someone who posted an updated app, but wasn't sure how until I saw this.
Feels like a lot of hoops, but hopefully it's worth it.
It's at the bottom-left of the post . I don't have it at first but after my first post , *poof* it's there and available XD
Thanks for the thread as I also want to be able to give people their just due.
Just in addition:
On Tapatalk and XDA app, just long-press the post you want to thank for, then scroll a little bit to the right in the appearing actions menu and select "Thanks" (may be in your system's language).
Enable thanks button by having a post
This is my obligatory first post to enable the thanks button. Figured this was the best thread to do it.
hello! I can not understand why putting the tag of youtube videos, and inserting the link, I can not bring up the video in my post, but just one thing like it:
Why?? Help Me!

Only put the part after the '=' sign - in your case 43Kk8WAfLwg and not the '' part either. Like this;-

I've got fed up of the whole 'Thanks' thing. I don't exactly help people to get thanks, but it would be nice if people did hit the button - especially when they've got 52 posts nd 25 thanks, so they must know what it is for

lol.. i didnt say you were doing it for that! or i dont do it either.. but i keep the "hit thanks button in sign" because to educate new members with the thanks button idea..
and since he said 10000 thanks.. hitting it would have been pretty obvious i thought.. and when i checked it was not there.. so kinda felt like ???? and it does feels better when you are thanked for the help you gave.. and if it is a really helpful post for all members then having thanks on that post will make it appear on thanks widget which will help others to look into it quickly.. everyone benefits
Greetings friends,
We all agree that - xda-developers is an amazing site !!!
unfortunately, there are so many unnecessary and redundant posts, every where.
Therefore - I would like to suggest a Negative 'THANKS' button, on every post,
a 'rotten tomato' counter, if you please.
This button and counter will make people - search / read / think twice - before posting,
Something we will all enjoy and benefit from.
What do you think ?
If you can improve my suggestion
or you have another idea to help this cause,
please write.
A few years ago we did try an alternative up/down button. People seemed to like the single "Thanks!" button better because it is more positive.
Right. People that ask Noobish questions would get a "negative thanks" and that's just very discouraging
Yea, the idea of the Thanks button is not to "control" post content and judge post content. It's there to say "thanks, your post helped me".
We don't want to say to anyone "your post did not help" or "your post was silly"...if you find any posts that you think aren't appropriate, you can report the post and a moderator will take a look at it

Thanks for all responses.
please have a look at a very famous site's - user reputation ranking system.
http://stackoverflow.com/help/whats-reputation
it supports my point.
if a user posts rubbish or too lazy to read - it should carry a consequence, (a very minor one, but efective).
perhaps the negative THANKS button - is not the best way achive the goal,
I do belive that something should be done.
I'll leave it to greater minds than my own....
Hi folks,
could you help me please? I have built an application and posted some information about it. But I can not upload the images. Does anyone has problem with this?
Hello and welcome on XDA,
as a new member you're not able to post images or links.
Kind regards
Trafalgar Square
Ok, so when I will be able to add some images and links?
If you reached the 10 post mark.
Just answer some questions or post in some threads. But don't spam. If you spam, your posts will get deleted.
Kind regards

It isn't automatic after 10 posts, it will take a little bit of time. Apologies for the delay, we had to implement this due to spammers making 10 quick posts and then spamming right away. It's annoying but necessary! Can't wait to see your post about your app!
