Hi. I was waiting for Roam Control to work on S3 to be able to force roaming whenever I get bad 3G speeds on Sprint, which is quite often.
So now this day have come, but I can't find prl file that would allow 3G speed while roaming! I tried 24006 - still get 1x when roaming.
Modded prl like 00001 etc will just connect to Verizon network full time. Not what I need. And even with this modded prls whenever I'm roaming, still getting 1x speed on Verizon.
Is there no hope? No way to get 3G roaming speed?
12121 is working great for me in Milwaukee. None of the prl's starting with 2 have me 3g roaming. Neither did 11115, which works fine on my S2.

12121 all the way. No roaming - sprint 3g, roaming - another carrier 3g.
Old school non LTE 11115 works great on Sprint 3G or Verizon 3G for me. I don't have any LTE yet so I'm not missing anything
nope.. nothing works for me here in NY
tried 12121 and 11115. still getting 1x speed
anyone got this working in NY? anyone tries to combine prls? surely if I can get 3G speed with 00001 then it is possible to do when roaming as well?

Yeah I know. Don't need that. Just wondering, if 00001 works fine here, then there's gotta be prl that lets me do 3G roaming.
Tried 12123, same thing. 1x speed.
I am using 12124 and have 3g roaming (when available).

So we are out on vacation and I can't get a 3G signal. I am using Syndicate Frozen ROM but my wifes unrooted phone gets 3G. It does work within the Sprint network but not when in roaming. Any fix for this? I also can't update my PRL here. Thanks!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I believe that the unrooted stock rom erroneously reports 3g no matter what data signal it is receiving. Have you/she ever seen it not report 3g?
Have you run a speed test on your wife's unrooted phone. She might not be getting 3G either. Most Sprint smartphones will only display 3G as the network you're on no matter what it really is (sometimes 1x, a 2G technology!).
If she is getting at least 300kbps then she does have 3G. To get yours to work on it you need to manually update your PRL.
The attached 11114 PRL has 3G roaming nearly everywhere
Will 11114 still work wen my current PRL is 60680? Also my wife does not have a speed tester app on her phone however she is able to load things faster than I am.

It doesn't matter which PRL you are currently on, if you do what it says in the link you will get 11114 PRL.
However, Sprint will roll you back to 60680 you don't freeze system updates, which you can do with Antek Application manager (in the market).
So with 11114 will sprint be complaining of roaming like on 00001 or be just fine.

If you go over 300mb while roaming it certainly is a possibility. You can still do that without this or the 00001 prl. Usually they only get mad if they notice you aren't using the sprint network at all anymore or if you do 1gb+ roaming per month.
Well as an update I never had the chance to change my PRL and give it a shot. I figured it wasn't worth making the wife mad at me for messing with my phone while we were on vacation. I still would like to know why this happened. I almost never go anywhere that I don't have the Sprint network. Thanks for the help anyways everyone!!
For some reason when I load the 1115 PRL I only get 3g speeds for about 1/2 an hour, then it goes back to 1x. I have tried reloading a couple of different times and still the same thing. I use roam control to switch over to Verizon and that works just dandy, but no 3g speeds. Its the weirdest thing, anyone else have the same issues?
i have same exact problem i am on 1x all the time after 11115 prl
will wait for answer otherwise going to take it back to sprint let them fix it..
Maybe the area ur in doesn't have 3g on vz? I know there's one area I go to that there's barely a vz signal with 1x

Also there is an app in the market called netmonitor it will tell you what if you are roaming.
If the "carrier " says sprint , your not roaming.
It also says the network type you are on.

Try out roam control. It's been mentioned in these forums before and it works great. Unfortunately it's not on the market anymore but you can buy it directly from the developers website. I use it at work where I get hardly any sprint service and it roams on 3G perfectly. It also helps out my battery because the phone isn't constantly trying to switch from roaming to local. I think the site is roamctrl.com.
I use Roam Control in Atlanta and it works great and I do indeed receive Verizon 3G on my phone. But Roam Control can't magically give you 3G if it's just not available on PRL 11115 in your area. I would try a different PRL but please be wary of roaming all the time. Sprint will eventually be very upset with you.

It works in Houston, Texas area. When my discount with Sprint was through Dish Network all my devices would have the business PRLs. I found a way to change my discount from 16% to 20% by creating a AOL email. Anyway since doing that I no longer get the business PRLs. Not worth the 4%, since I no longer work with Dish Network I am stuck with this AOL discount

I've been using 1115/1119 in CA and am now getting 3g speeds when roaming. That's when Sprint doesn't push the stupid 60686 to my device.
11115 Works for 3g in Seattle area... and +1 to Roam Control...
I don't understand why it doesn't work. I put Samsung as the phone device under settings. It just gets LOS whenever I hit roam. I emailed the dev shortly after purchase and he hasn't responded.
Any suggestions?
I'm on PRL 60687.
EDIT: FF02 radio, CM9 alpha 5 (no mods added).
EDIT2: It hasn't work for me on GB or ICS Touchwiz leaks either. Is it just because of my location? I have relatively good sprint signal at home, but I like to use the roamcontrol at my cousins house.
First of all, there is no point in roaming on Sprint's network with their PRL. It will only give you 1G speed anyway. You need to change your PRL according to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521343
The 11119 PRL is the one that is normally recommended. It allows you to roam 3g on verizon's network.
That being said, roam control doesn't seem to work for everyone for some reason. You may want to go back to a stock modem and GB if it's not working for you on ICS. I use it on a stock based FE22 ICS kernel but I'm still on EL29 modem. (The ICS modems never seemed to make a big difference for me so I quit trying to keep up )
If you get stuck or need more help, reply here, PM me or reply in the PRL forum for specific help with that too.
After you hit roam, go to your settings and go to your roam settings. Turn off your roaming and then back on. Then disable your roam gaurd. It won't show the roaming icon but it does work. I checked my roaming usage and I am at 2.5GB of roaming. I'll probably get kicked soon.

I'm interested in being able to roam on Verizon, since Sprint is a POS at my school and home, and I'm constantly loosing messages, and data speeds are very sad. Anyways, I did a quick search and found a guide on changing the PRL to Sprint's "Corporate PRL" which apparently grants roaming with 3G data on Sprint, but it seems as if though that guide is old (Sept 19 from last year) and I'm not sure it'll work on my ROM (AOKP JB) So, does that guide still work? Is it safe? If no, what are my other options?
Also, how much minutes/texts/data usage would piss off Sprint? I've been meaning to switch for a while now...

I don't want to get too deep into this since there is a PRL thread in the forums, but doesn't that one force you to roam all the time? Sprint has a roaming limit of something like 200MB a month; if you go over that they can and frequently will cancel the rest of your contact. Some people do that on purpose, which I don't recommend or advise. If you just want to use your phone when you don't have much of a signal, use a PRL like 11115 along with the app Roam Control, that way you control when the phone roams.
yes.. oooo2 or w.e is a verizon prl roaming 100%.. i used the sprint corp prl i think 11124 or something which wasnt roaming while set to home only. but would have verizon 3g while in roam only with roam control which is compatible with jb now... however if using verizon eventually u will get a call from sprints roaming team.. and the prl thread is right. just need to be on a tw rom and when u go back to a aosp rom prl will stay until u update it

I was reading this in a different place. I flashed the newest modem (ma4), which works well. I'm on prl 25010 but I believe the one mentioned was 25013. I show the 4g lte available but my phone has never connected. I was wondering if I have to update prl also to be able to connect to lte. Also heard the new airave (mine is on the way) broadcasts lte 800?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Airave doesn't broadcast lte I have one and it only does 3g sadly but if your not getting 4g lte when you are in an area where it is available then maybe you should go into settings then hit more settings then tap mobile networks and make sure you are on CDMA/LTE and if you already are toggle it back to CDMA reboot then change it back to CDMA/LTE and reboot again and see if you get LTE if no try updating your data profile since prl are associated with 3g internet and roaming only I believe it shouldn't matter but I would always update both just in case

Actually, the PRL can enable and disable LTE, but I don't think there's a single PRL for the GS3 with LTE disabled. 800MHz 1x is a different story. Each new PRL since about 25006 or so has been gradually adding more 800MHz markets.
Also, even if an airave did broadcast LTE, what's the point if it's still using your home internet connection? You may as well just connect to WiFi. And as for LTE 800 on an airave, that's even more useless because the GS3 doesn't support 800MHz LTE, only 800MHz 1x.
I have 25012 now from last night.

It is probably a limiting PRL to reduce data traffic in certain areas for maintenance issues or Sprint released the wrong PRL like when I had an evo 3d a year ago.

Technically the PRL does not effect your normal cell service with sprint towers only if sprint releases a bad PRL. Now if sprint has a local roaming agreement with another cell site company it would affect your service. This is my understanding I maybe wrong.
