[Q] Returning to factory default - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have recently rooted my nexus in order to get jelly bean. Im planning on selling the phone tomorrow and my friend wants it back to factory. I have the toolkit on my computer but i dont know if it is because of the miui rom I have running but I cant find the build number in order to get it back to default. Can somebody fill me on what I need to do or what Im doing wrong? Below has all the important info listed
Build number: MIUI-2.8.1.7 JRO03H (Not listed on the toolkit)
android version: 4.1

Where did you get the phone? I'm assuming since you had to root in order to get 4.1 you didn't get it from google... is it the Verizon version?

What country, do you have the gsm unlocked US or the international, or Verizon or sprint? Gsm is maguro, Verizon is toro and spring is toro plus, if you are in the US with the gsm unlocked, our choice is number 10 on the list of devices

It might not be a true factory reset depending from where you bought it (yakjuXX build) but I'm sure your friend won't mind the different build with faster updates from google.

[Q] Update Galaxy Nexus ?

Hello,
Ive got 2 Galaxy nexus one bought from US store and one from a UK store, both are not the LTE versions.
i got OTA update from 4.0.1 to 4.0.2 OTA on the UK one but not yet for the US.
I dont want to brick the phone so Id like some help please, ive never used nexus phones before so i apologize for all the questions.
is it possible to flash it to the US one? and if i do will i still get OTA updates when they roll out or would i have to always do it manually?
the US one is 4.0.1 baseband: XXKK1 Kernel: ga052f63 Build: ITL41F
and i the UK one is 4.0.2 baseband: KK6 kernel: gaaa2611 Build: ICL53F after OTA update.
Do use Gnex Toolkit v4.1 ? and without rooting?
Thanks guys

Sorry about Bumping,,,,,,,still awaiting reply please
you won't brick.
there is no U.S. firmware for the Galaxy Nexus.
there are only three types of OTAs:
yakju: Google supported (GSM)
mysid: Google supported (LTE)
variants of yakju (yakjuxw,yakjuux,etc): GSM
flash it.

The product name is yakjuxw and it says its NOT updated by Google.
does this mean they wont ever update? or just currently its not yet pushed through?

it still receives updates but it comes from Samsung. still a stock experience, just comes with extra languages and things like that.
you can convert it to a yakju (search it).
updates often come out for yakju more frequently than the variations of yakju
If I convert it to a yakju, will this affect my warranty? If yes, can I convert it back to my current one?

Based on my modest knowledge, if the nexus doesn't have a flash counter and u flash back to yakuxw u shouldnt lose warranted. Better ask the professionals here in xda though.

You won't lose your warranty if you flash a official firmware, I did that when I changed to yakju.

[ROM][INFO] Completely STOCK 4.1 Jelly Bean

I'm just providing information and a link for people (like me) who want a completely stock JB ROM that is not rooted, tweaked, or messed with in any way at all. This is the stock JB that Google used for their JB nexus demonstrations.
THIS IS NOT MY WORK...I AM SIMPLY PROVIDING A LINK TO THE COMPLETELY STOCK JELLY BEAN ROM. AGAIN, THIS IS NOT MY WORK OR LINK.
ALSO, THE FILE NAME SHOWS "TAKJU" WHICH IS THE USA GALAXY NEXUS (THAT IS PURCHASED FROM GOOGLE PLAY STORE), SO I'M NOT SURE IF IT WILL WORK CORRECTLY ON ANY OTHER UNLOCKED NEXUS' (LIKE THE YAKJU). I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE YOU MAY DO TO YOUR PHONE.
Having read all the information above, here is the link:
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager/device/maguro/developer/clockworkmod?manifest=http%3A%2F%2Fgh-pages.clockworkmod.com%2FROMManagerManifest%2Fclockworkmod.js&name=ClockworkMod&deviceName=Google%20Galaxy%20Nexus%20(GSM
I simply used the galaxy nexus toolkit (see sticky thread in this section) to unlock my phone and flash CWM (I didn't need to root), and then flashed the stock JB via CWM.
Thanks! Just unlocked, flashed the JB image and re-locked.
Now I'm (not rooted) and back to stock and locked JB!
No waiting on the OTA here!

This is the same build on the I/O Nexi. So they are all going to have to root and unlock once the OTA hits? Don't think so. It's the same version as on my Nexus 7, down to the build fingerprint.
(yes I have a Nexus 7 - bought from someone who attended I/O).

Interesting.
Takju is for a completely different device and will not work on a Tegra 3 device.

Stock jelly beans with baseband XXLF1
Thanks guys for posting the link to the ROMs. I just finished updating mine two days ago and man this is awesome. BTW, I also flashed the baseband radio XXLF1 and it works better than XXLA2 (Australia, OPTUS network).
P.S.
Got my phone unlocked (originally yakjuxw) but is using it in OPTUS network. Now its all Jelly Bean

What makes you think that just because these are test builds pushed out to I/O devices they are going to have to be rooted and unlocked to be updated? That doesn't make any sense. Think about it:
Google supplies GNex to I/O attendees.
Google pushes out OTA to those devices for JB (no unlocking/rooting required to receive)
Why wouldn't Google later push an update for devices on pre-release JB to bring them to final release builds? What this means is that there will be two OTA files being pushed, one for IMM76K -> JRN*** and for JRN84D -> JRN***.
I have a very hard time believing Google would require I/O devices be unlocked and rooted to install the official firmware.

True, plus for OTA you have to be bone stock: stock rom, stock kernel, stock recovery, stock radio, and appropriate bootloader to be able to grab an OTA update

[Q] Which Galaxy Nexus do I have? Please help

Hello everyone
I just bought a Galaxy Nexus from someone. I was told that the device is factory unlocked. I looked into the settings and in the build number it shows ITL41F.i9250UGKL1. My question is that, what kind of Gnex is this? Is it bought straight from Google, or from some carrier? Also, in Android version it shows 4.0.1. Now I am aware that there is 4.0.4 out but how come in system update it says I am up-to-date?
I am fairly new to Galaxy Nexus, but I have owned a Galaxy S previously. Please help me out.
Thanks.
Does it has a sim slot?

As for the warranty I can't really say.

My Nexus is from where? And what firmware I have?

I located in hong kong and bought an imported Nexus, which country does my phone "belongs to"?
Because until now I still don't have 4.1.1 update!!
Here is my phone detail:
Android version: 4.0.4
baseband version I9250XXLA2
Build number: IMM76K.I9250ZSLE2

That means you're getting OTA via Samsung, not Google. What I recommend you to do is use Efrant's guide to convert from what you have to yakju or takju. It only takes few minutes... Make sure that you got everything backed up, since the process includes you wiping EVERYTHING.
But when I connect my Nexus to kies it keep saying "connecting", tried on two different computers.
BTW, am I running the right firmware?
Well first of all, Gnex doesn't use Kies... You need to download the drivers yourself
And what do you mean by right variant?
Samsung use kies right? Where can I get the driver?
I think I am using Verizon firmware?
Are you with Verizon? If not, the answer is no.
Only device with Samsung Touchwiz uses it. Gnex is a PURE ANDROID. Without any brand bloatware. That is why it doesn't have Kies.
Verizon variant is mysid and if you have GSM Gnex and you can text, call and etc, you don't have Verizon variant. You don't need to worry about that.
You can get the driver and how to install it from this post
according on the web, IMM76K seems to be a Verizon firmware?
That is Verizon Android 4.0.4 version (I think). Mysid is like a "codename" for all Verizon ROMs. For example, CM10 for GSM Nexus is either takju or yakju, but CM10 for Verizon will be mysid. Hope that answers your question
how can i update to 4.1.1?

OP: If you don't want to convert to yakju or takju, you just need to wait. From what I know, your variant doesn't have the Jelly Bean OTA yet (Blame Samsung). I personally would just convert it and get it over with. That's what I did, and I am very happy with my decision. Photos and musics and the moved to your computer and apps+data can be backed up by following this guide
I thank you for your help. Here are my last questions:
How to tell if my phone is an import and find out where it is from?
BTW I still can't update (not flash) to 4.1.1
Well the variant can tell you if it's an import. For example, you have yakjuzs is a China variant, so it is an import. If you had takju, it will be from US. If yakjuux, Canadian. Something like that.
Ok i think mine is not an import then, thank you very much!

There are ways to unlock the GN without wiping data (it involves using an exploit rather than "fastboot oem unlock").
ezekeel's app has such a method.
However: I am not familiar with the Verizon GN that you say you have. I can't say for sure the app will work with it. You can ask around in his thread. There may also be other ways I'm not aware of.

Where can I find original build

I need to return my nexus to where I bought it because it is faulty, but i need to put the original os back on any ideas where I can get it?
the original build number was: Imm76k.i9250xwld2 which is apparently "yakjuxw" running 4.0.1 (i think)
the build number now is JRO03C or yakju running 4.1.1
I have been told that it wont matter if i don't do this, as they are both official builds and they wont know/care. any experience with this?
thanks

Imm76k.i9250xwld2 is not yakjuxw 4.0.1, it is yakjuxw 4.0.4.
You can find a yakjuxw 4.0.1 ROM in the dev section. Once you flash it, you will get updated to yakjuxw 4.0.4 and and possibly yakjuxw 4.1.1.

I've flashed the software from the link I posted, but the build number is different to what it originally was
it is now: ITL41F.I9250XWKK9 instead of Imm76k.i9250xwld2
do you think this will matter?
EDIT: really confused, cant find Imm76k.i9250xwld2 anywhere but I've noticed "imm76k" is listed on the official google builds here but under "Factory Images "mysid" for Galaxy Nexus "toro" (VZW CDMA/LTE)"
also on this site it is listed at the bottom as "IMM76K shipped on I9250 international devices later in the Galaxy Nexus’ lifecycle. It was never offered as an over-the-air update."
can anyone help me find the build I'm after, or at least tell me if its safe to send it without the exact same build it came with on?
