I'm using Equalizer with Skullcandy Hesh headphones, the boost in audio is very noticible and it offers presets along with effects like bass booster and virtualizer.

when I had my vibrant I was using poweramp.
Now, with the S2, I removed the stock music player.
And use ubermusic player combined with the equalizer app.
Personally I have no interest in XLoud or Beats.
DSP Manager is perfect, light weight, and easily surpasses the two in functionality. It just needs to be configured right.
Numerous threads state that these two are a placebo / more of a gimmick. From personal use I have to agree. A waste of resources.
BRAVIA engine however is quite a different story
I like player pro, it's pure and no changes to the sound.

Thanks. But I was more concerned with speaker volume and speaker quality and not equalizer stuff or headphone quality. I heard xloud tries to prevent the speakers from sounding tinny but rather more fuller and louder. DSP achieve the same and more is what you are saying?
Does BRAVIA engine makes the video quality look better or the video to perform better (less choppiness or shutter)?
Power amp has it's own dsp

Is there a way to get beats working with player pro? Reason is I really dislike the stock music player and find it poorly designed. Player pro is perfect for me but the beats audio doesn't have any effect.

I'm also using PowerAmp but in PowerAmp you have the ability to disabled DVC (Direct Volume Control) thereby enabling Beats.
Not sure if there is an option like that in PlayerPro
I know there's a few ROMs that have enabled system wide Beats.
As well as PowerAmp, UberMusic also works with BeatsAudio.
I have Player Pro it works fine with Beats. I also using Extreme Sound Enhancer 10.0. If it's not check under the Settings > Audio there you should fine an option something like use ROM sound setting or something like that. Don't have my phone with me to check
Beats and other audio effects are system wide, poweramp does not seem to like beats very much, you can enable sound effects in settings>sound>sound enhancer but the audio effects can only be enabled with headphones.

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone else has this issue, I'm running CM10 and the music quality isn't too bad while running the headphone jack to speakers, ie my car, home. But when I plug my headphones and and try to play with DSP at all it always sounds distorted and sound like the headphones are blown, this only happens after I enable something with DSP, the headphones are fine. I also tested on my zune and my roommates Droid X2, both of which sound much better than my phone.
Any suggestions or solutions would be great, the headphones are sennheiser HD558's

DSP distorts the sound, no way around it. Try poweramp music player, it uses it's own equalizers and settings and has great sound.

I tried so many mods like acid and beat but the best so far is power amp like kmull4 said. You get powerful bass and rich highs. It actually adds more power to those Hz.
I've only used Acid +nooxide and love it. As long as you don't push the effects too hard. The" wider" sound option is actually achieved by manipulating phase coherency which if overdone will result in some may nasty sounding audio. I'm curious about power amp. Are you guys dust using the built in eq settings on the app?
Ps: I'm an audio engineer so I'm always looking for the best sound possible

For me yes. I've used a lot of music apps and I feel that this is the best one. Although in your case being an audio engineer, you might want to check out jet audio in the play store. It has more options to change the sound.

Thanks for the heads up on jet. I'll check that it out for sure. The ui is kinda meh though but that's secondary to the sound IMO. I am really digging noozy player. Especially the podcast section. That's a nice feature.

I have really good headphones that support a high current/voltage. I put up the dB on the DPS manager and it gets distorted. With the poweramp it does make the freq. more clear and powerful.
Poweramp and good headphones are all I've needed for clarity. Even without fiddling with EQ the clarity is good.

Wait for KingBeatZ to release their sound mod for the new Nexus 7 if they will. On the old Nexus 7 it made a significant improvement to the speaker volume.

When you look at a graphic eq you will see all of the toggles, they correspond to a frequency, from low to high (left to right). By moving a control anywhere higher than 0 you are effectively making that frequency louder. So by dragging the controls on the right you are boosting the high frequency sounds ( speach/singing/cymballs) and by dragging the ones farther to the left you are adjusting bass and mid levels. Just play with it, just be aware that by boosting the gain too high you could end up making your music/movies sound distorted. Have fun!
And a tip, put on a style of music that you listen to the most while you make changes so that you can hear the difference that your changes make.

Well in doing a little search through the forums it looks as if the developer has set poweramp to not work with 3rd party dsp. You may just have to find a different player that you like that supports dsp. They have a forum with the answers to your questions I am sure. Sounds like your up and running though.
