Does anyone know if as standard the home screen will switch to landscape view when rotated. I have the s3 which doesn't. I know I can get apps and launchers etc to combat this, but my question is does the note 2 with stock launcher rotate home screens?
Thanks for your time.
No it does not. Limitation of TW. The same in JB. However, SPB Shell does allow this.
Hopefully, someone on here maybe able able to have tweak for it! (Please).
You can try this, it does work with tw...https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....fameit.rotate (7 day trial version).
Apparently jellybean 4.2 allows home screen rotation.

Think I read that was for the nexus 7 only but could be wrong. Going with go launcher for now.

Just a correction, It's not 4.2, it's 4.1.2.
4.2 won't be called Jelly Bean.

Has anyone experienced the phenomenon shown in the two images below?
- My phone is unlocked and rooted.
- I am running LiquidSmooth v1.35
- I am also running Franco Milestone 3 kernel
It seems wallpapers will not behave correctly when my phone is in landscape mode. Anybody have some ideas?
I have tried "Wallpaper Wizardrii" which hasn't worked. This happens with both the stock launcher and the Apex launcher.
what is the resolution of the wallpaper?
That particular one is 1280x800. I set the wallpaper, just now, using the gallery "set as" function but while in landscape mode and it has eliminated the black bands on either side. However the transition from portrait to landscape is ugly (the wallpaper jumps around a bit before settling).
I don't remember it being like this in the past. If anyone has any fixes, they would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
I thought the last thing I did fixed it... but a few rotations later it was back to misaligned.
Same thing happens here on stock rom rooted using apex.

Unfortunately wizard or quickpic didn't work for me either.
Edit;
I was going to suggest maybe its some kind of resolution issue but this happens even using the stock provided wall papers and built in wall paper wall paper picker app.

I hate the new ICS wallpaper implementation. Especially, because I always turn off the "Scrolling Wallpaper" option. And I always have to crop my wallpapers to make them fit my screen :X
So this is ICS bug not launcher?

I dont think it does.
OP, i do not have this issue.
at the time of reading this, i had a wallpaper set to not scroll, and i enabled horizontal lock screen. i had the issue you were talking about.
once i enabled scrolling wallpaper, and reset the wallpaper (same one) i had full screen wallpaper on the hoizontal lock screen.
seems to be an issue with scrolling wallpapers, which also isn't an option to disable on the stock launcher.

Yeah your right forgot about that. Still though, I'm sure older versions of apex displayed the wall paper right in landscape, only since the recent betas it started playing up.

I'm pretty sure the stock launcher supports landscape mode. It happens when you choose Settings > Display > Auto-rotate screen.
Update: I just switched back the the stock launcher and it does auto-rotate AND has the glitch.

Stock rom stock launcher won't auto rotate for me. I'm sure the stock launcher actually supports it but stock rom doesn't and requires tablet mode or something for it to be landscape. I'm sure this is why people started switching to 3rd party launchers to use landscape mode.
Are you on stock rom?

That said, the Google service seems to be down, has been down all day for me, on all my devices, which span Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, ICS, and Jellybean.

Mine started working again this morning, having been down for most of yesterday.
Works good just can't get into the setting to change anything or customize my feeds. I though the galaxy nexus didn't have a physical menu key, I figured it would trigger the on screen menu key automatically.

If you use Apex or another 3rd party launcher you can re-size it. Sadly, the JB launcher isn't quite as versatile as the 3rd party ones when it comes to resizing widgets, I believe it relies on the widget itself to tell it what sizes it can be and if that information is lacking in older widgets, she no resize.

I'm just going to wait for an official update of JB for the device, we all know we're going to get it, the GS3 is too new to not. I'm in no hurry. I put Apex Pro launcher on mine though, as I do prefer it's home screen functions over that of TouchWiz. I have more control over the spacing of icons and widgets this way. Make better use of the huge screen we have.

Im using Nova. We just got ics. You think jb will happen that soon?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
I wont say how soon it will come, but I do know it will. The GSIII is in my opinion the top device out right now. I looked at the HTC One X and didn't like what I was seeing in certain areas, the GSIII won out hands down. But they're both on track getting JB just we have to wait and see when.
As for Nova, I had that on CM9 and didn't like it's lack of options so I went back to Apex. Unless they updated it since, not sure if CM9 used the Pro version of Nova or just normal, more than likely the free version though. So I can't really give an opinion on Nova Pro version.
I'm still waiting note 2 to arrive to Turkey. I'd like to ask has anyone tried GN2 with other launchers like nova or apex. If than, what do u lose?
I think it's hard to pull down notification bar one handedly and gestures included in nova and apex are helpful in this situation.
I think you lose PageBuddy, which is helpful when you pull out the Spen.

I think you got me wrong; I'm talking about pulling down the notification bar with your thumb of right hand when holding phone in your right hand.
In nova you have gestures, swiping down anywhere on the screen is enough.
I use Go Launcher and it runs extremely well. No problems found. Gesture support is included so pulling the notification bar down with a gesture is very useful on this big screen.
I tried Nova but 'Go' is better as it has a lot of extra 'bolt on' apps.

I just tried it and can confirm the pop up S-Note does appear without any issue on Go Launcher, when the pen is removed.
I take it you've enabled this feature in the S-Pen settings?

I was asking the question (on another forum) about "what we loose" if we use another launcher.
So you can confirm everything works ? (except Samsung widgets I imagine)
What about default gestures like Covering the screen, sweeping for a screenshot, shaking for updates, moving the hand over the GN II to wake up
Anyone else having the "shadow bug" on Apex? How can it be fixed please?

Do you know what bothers me on Go launcher Ex? Indeed, it IS the best launcher I´ve seen so far as well, but what still makes me using another launcher (Nova) is the App Drawer. It doesn´t matter which theme I´ve tested...the drawer always looks cheap or is lagging on Go launcher Ex.

The gestures all work including those you mentioned and split screen, so do all features with the S-Pen. Anything that's a Touch Wiz feature such as Samsung Widgets, Page Buddy don't. There's little that don't and you get more pros than cons using another launcher.

Salut!
Yes I had the problem using APEX either on stock or omega 3 ROM. Was very obvious with transparent widget i.e. APW and very annoying.
There is a fix for the S3 saw that from another thread were a member stated that fix should work for our NOTE 2.
So I gave it a try...
The fix is here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1894633
Somehow using CWM and that s3 fix ZIP did not work for me. So I used root explorer extracted the libhwui.so renamed the original one in /system/lib and copied the extracted one
And voila indeed fixed after rebooting
There might be some side effect i.e.: in EMAIL when scrolling there can be flickering flashing on some mail with HTML/images but it seems only if DEVELOPER option force GPU rendering is checked...I'm not 100% sure on that one but noticed it on some mail
So I confirm the statement of the XDA member the S3 FIX is functional on the NOTE 2 but possibly with some side effects....
Cheers
Jean-Marc
Hmm I'd better stay away from side effects and wait to see how it goes with a later fix maybe
Using Nova Prime. Good.

Hi,
First of all sorry for being a noob. And my problem is, is there any way for me to put a note/todo widget on the lockscreen of my note 2 running jelly bean 4.1.2, unrooted. Please let me know if there is a way to get there..
Thanks
Lock screen widgets are introduced in Android 4.2, so we don't have them yet. Wait till samsung releases 4.2 version update to our Note 2
Try go locker it has option for lock screen widget. Don't know exactly for note widget

Thanks for the quick response; by the way, i had tried go locker but it seems to be complicating the lockscreen as a whole.. The widgets are placed as a seperate page which makes us swipe from the lock screen to view the widgets. That itself ruins the sense of lockscreen widget i think. We could use that very simple swype on the stock lockscreen to get the whole homescreen with all the widgets. So this sort of idea made me uninstall go locker. I just want to be reminded of my next hr todo s whenever i try to use my phone. So here i think a wait till 4.2 is the only way out rite?...
