Has anyone experience with DUAL SIM adapter for the TP2?

Hi,
I just bought a TP2 and is very happy about it - it is far better than my old Diamond.
I'm quite tired of having to carry two phones around; my private mobile and my work mobile, so I'm looking at a Dual SIM adapter.
But I first of all want to hear Pros and Cons for using this.
When I google the subject I see a lot of old Posts dated back to 2004 ~ 2007. It's hard to find any up to date review or comments regarding this subject.
So have any of you lads experience, recommendations or even advise against this?

Personally I do carry 2 phones and I have tried dual sim adapters not for TP2 but for diamond1 and pro1 they do work but the performance is not that good.
Cons:
- You can only use 1 sim at a time. So 1 sim will show as switched off even though it is there.
- Some (most) chinese adapter only work with GSM therefore your data conection will be waaaaay SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.
- It takes time to switch.
Pros:
NONE that i can think of.
Advise:
Peopple just carry 2 phones working at same time both on and both working with 3G ( if your phone is capable and you need data conection)
Buy a dual sim mobile phone (samsung d880,d780) is very good for this
Chinese dual sim phones which are quite good and work perfect.
Problem with dual sim phones is that NONE of them is 3G all of them untill now are GSM. This does not work for me because one of my numbers is on Three UK so i cannot even think of a gsm phone.
Currently using TP2 on voda and SEw995 on Three. and it does the job for me.
Sorry for long post but you might find some info usefull.

I use software called magicall and I believe one of its functions can have a call forwarded to whatever number you want. It may not be exactly what you were looking for but some type of call forwarding might cut down on missing calls when you don't want to carry two phones.

or there is the acer dx900 which is a true dual sim windows mobile phone. i looked at it, but decided against it as the spec was not a huge leap from my old touch cruise. i got the tp2 instead and decided to stay with 2 phones!

Thanks for all your posts. I got much wiser regarding this subject. The conclusion is that I will stay with my two phones for now.

Dual SIM adaptor for the TP2 doesn't work as well as either 2 phones or a dual SIM phone such as the MINI IPhone found in China. Funny thing is that a clone manufacturer can make a Dual SIM simultaneous solution. Both SIM cards work simultaneously in the phone but you don't get any advanced software features such as a real WM device >.< . If you want to use a cut-up dual SIM, they are compatible with the TP2.

Weak cell signal - How can I boost it?

Hi all,
I need advice on how to boost my cell signal in at work (downtown Chicago with big buildings everywhere). I'm near a window but there isn't much of a signal. I hear there is an external antenna i can plug into the phone to let me surf the web & get text messages more easily. Anything you can suggest I try or even buy? I have a HTC hero.

3 potential routes.
1. Depending on the size of the office and if you've got a corporate account with many lines, you can ask the corp rep to install a repeater in your floor. It is possible, I've done it! Just needs a little diplomacy, local IT needs to get involved as well as building maintenance personnel. They'll run a T1 line through the building's wiring to the local telephone switch.
2. Do a survey of the office and find out how many people have the same issue. Present the issue to management along with the solution: http://www.wilsonelectronics.com/
3. Forward cell calls to your office phone.

maybe installing a different radio ROM is already good enough? look in ROM section of your device.

I don't know for the Hero, but some older devices have a little round whole in the back (mostly covered with rubber) where you can stick in an external antenna witch uses an external source (wall charger) so mainly your phone becomes a land phone
buy first try to update your radio ROM

Dual Sim Adapter for Galaxy S2

Hello everybody,
I've heard there's a dual sim adapter called MAGIC Sim for Galaxy 2..
My question is, does it work for both SIM Cards to be online at the same time? I don't want just to switch from one to another.
Please advise.

If you live in Delhi you can get if from Gaffar Market. It will cost you around Rs 100-150.

I am using this device Gmate from skyroam.com. It allows both SIMs to be online at the same time, by using a Bluetooth connection to the external Gmate device housing your 2nd SIM card. The configuration is like this:
Phone + 3G SIM: You can surf 3G, make, answer calls and SMS from here
Gmate device + 2nd SIM card: You can make, answer calls and SMS from here
Pros:
- Both SIM cards are active
- Convenient, both numbers are active at the same time
Cons:
- Calls can be very noisy, and sometimes the other party says they cannot hear you clearly
- Uses bluetooth, so it would drain your phone's battery easily
- Pricier compared to MagicSIM, I got mine for USD 100
- On the Android, Gmate's phone application is not that user friendly
For me, I can live with the cons and nothing beats the convenience of having both lines being active.

Christ on a crutch. I wasn't going to bother (already adequately explained that NO NORMAL TELEPHONE can use 2 sims simultaneously) until I read the last post plugging the "GMate". If ever there was a solution looking for a problem, that's it.
Dual sim ADAPTERS are only useful if you (for example) juggle a work and personal line. 6 o'clock, switch to your personal line. 8am, switch back to your work line.
If you NEED two lines active simultaneously and want the convenience of one device, simply buy a dual-sim phone - they've been around for many years!!

[Q] Read txt received on Galaxy S4 from Galaxy note 8.0?

So im.as sick as a.dog right now. my galaxy S4 phone is being charged across the room, my galaxy Note 8.0 in my hands, when all the sudden i get a txt. i wonder... is there any way to view txts that i get on my Galaxy S4 phone from my Galaxy Note 8.0? currently my not is rooted if that helps. but.no custom roms or anything.

OK, here is what I think will do well for you...
You can open up the firefox browser and get into outlook, to click on the links for both phone and tablet.
Ye must install this to your phone... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.texty.sms
Setup your phones app before installing this to yer tablet... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mightytext.tablet
Then setup the tablet to sync and send txts as if you are on your phone.

This method is amazing! Thank you so much. IDK if you're very experienced/intouch with VoiP, but I after trying out the app you suggested I noticed an option to make a call. After trying it I realized it sends a signal to the phone to intiate a call. Which was awesome too, especially since I have my BT Headset always on. But then the snowball started rolling and then I though... wouldn't it be amazing to get rid of the phone all together. So I had a couple of questions. Can Data plans be activated on regular tabs like mine (Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5110) ordoes one has to have the 3g/4g model of tablet for it to have its own Data Plan? Next, assuming one could have a tablet with its on Dataplan... Are there any VoiP with reasonable monthly charges and reliable service that will allow calls/txt to not only other users of the same app (like skype to skype) but from app to landline etc?

The WIFI only version GT-N5110 has no internal capabilities for data plans, The GT-N5100 and the GT-N5120 both have internal abilities for data plans.
One option for home use is a Verizon share hot spot that is a box for Internet only and requires a data plan. As for portability, you could get car DC to AC adapter that will allow you to use while driving. As long as Verizon towers are available. You would then need to use some Internet phone service that fits your budget and requirements. Knowing that Verizon is limiting data even though they are doubling their LTE data rate, makes me skeptical on how much you will be able to use monthly even though you have a fast connex.
That is as far as I am with such a question, there are other types of data plans and share devices, Sprint seems to be the best deal for getting what you want, but it will be a wee costly, and not all areas are Sprint friendly.
Now if you can get a great deal on family shared data, you can look into getting dual hot spot devices that will double your data rate when setting them up to be bridged, via a robust router... Home routers are limited to one connection to the internet, so looking for such a router will be in the $150.00+ range. Depending on the brand and model, you can have 1 to 4 data connex. That is if your budget allows for such an extravagant option. Portability will be limited to transferring one device from the bridged network when needed, thus allowing internet to be active at home.
As for skype... they do allow calls to land line... but I have tested Text Plus with my AT&T version in the UK. It works well for an app, and even gives you a real phone number for txting and calls. There is a charge for calls but depending on how much you talk, it may less expensive than $9.00 per month VOIP options with apps or hardware to plug in between your existing network.

What you're considering is totally doable, but you don't have the right device. My previous device was a Verizon branded Tab 7.7 that I used as my primary phone via VoIP on their LTE network. Overall, it worked 80-85% as well as a cellphone. When I accidentally destroyed it, I replaced it with the N5100, which I have on a smartphone plan with AT&T.
In order to be a practical replacement for a cellphone, the tablet itself must have built in connectivity, otherwise you'd also have to carry around a hotspot device. Dealing with two devices, battery issues, etc. makes that impractical in comparison to just using a smartphone.
There are many VoIP options, and the cost range from free to expensive. It depends on your needs. Most allow calling and texting to anyone anywhere. I can't make specific suggestions without knowing more about your needs, but I'll describe the process. The first issue issue is the phone number and who has control of it. Do you have a number that you're attached to or are you ok with any assigned number. This influences the second issue, do you want an all in one integrated solution like Skype, or a modular solution, which allows more flexibility. Third, is this going to be used across multiple devices and what kind are they. Lastly, how robust/reliable does the setup need to be (ie. is it your primary phone or just something to play with).
I was initially attracted to using a tablet as a phone to save money. Tablets cost less than smartphones and data only plans are cheaper than smartphones plans. Then I quickly got addicted to the screen size. A tablet makes almost every task easier or more enjoyable compared to doing it on a regular size phone. But using a tablet as a phone did have drawbacks. The lack of an ear speaker meant always having a headset readily available (and charged) or using the speakerphone. Most VoIP apps drained the battery rather quickly. Call quality is highly dependent on network latency, no problem on WiFi, more of an issue when out and about.
I couldn't go back to using a regular phone as my primary device. I'm not saving any money by going this route, but for me it's worth the premium to have a tablet with built-in telephony capability on a smartphone plan. The N5100 is an awesome 8" smartphone.*

S20 Ultra Issues - Especially Network Issue

Below are some problems I am facing with my S20 Ultra which is exynos variant using in Saudi Arabia
Connectivity:
Is there anyone facing an issue with incoming calls ? I am always receiving messages from my friends that tried calling you and your phone is not reachable in spite of having full signal strength. The biggest joke was i called on my number and instead of giving line busy i head number is not reachable. I changed my network provider to the best in Kingdom but this problem exist. I will appreciate if someone can help me on this or else i need to drop this phone because receiving calls is very basic thing which i am not getting at the moment,
Camera:
Even after having so many updates the focus is very bad. Especially if you zoom on a subject you need to wait too long for camera to focus the subject. Such an expensive phone and this issue looks ridiculous.

Hi, i live in KSA too, notched this issue when I was using 2 SIM cards, but now I'm using 1 and it is normal, however I have another problem with WIFI which keep lagging every half hour, so I need to turn it off and on again to work properly.

But what is it to do with 2 Sim Cards ? Also my second Sim is turned off although it is inserted in the phone.
I may well remove it out of the device to see if something works.

So here it is Samsung has admitted to issue of Camera and there is no software update can solve this.
It is shame on Samsung for releasing an unbaked item in the market for such hefty price tag.

i have the same problem with you... about the wifi. it keeps me lagging everytime.... in another device my wifi connection works properly .. only in my Phone...

I did professional photography/videography for a number of years. When it comes to relying on a smartphone for great snaps, it can happen but for the most part it's an unrealistic expectation. Yes, some devices are better than others when it comes to camera utilities and functions but device manufactures continue to expand camera arrays to one up the competition and boost sales as most users will never engage all 5 or 6 cameras available on the S20 Series. IMHO they've gone overboard and as a result are asking Smartphones to achieve great results in all aspects of photo or video creation. Smartphones take OK photos and anyone can improve their results by focusing on the fundamentals of photography. Lighting first and foremost then Composition, Subject Framing and Depth of Field. When I want to text my friends I don't grab my Nikon, when I want to get a great snap I don't grab my Smartphone.

I have the same issue with not receiving incoming calls. There is a whole thread on Samsung forums of people with the same problem.

Regarding not receiving incoming calls:
I had this issue and figured out what was causing it. You need to disable VoLTE if you are not registered to use this service on your carrier's network.
