Cyanogenmod 10 on HTC one x - HTC One X

Hi there,
I know this belongs in the developer forum, but I'm a lurker and don't have my 10 posts yet. So sorry to bother you.
I am experiencing some issues with Cyanogenmod 10 on my HOX. I installed the Endeavour Cyanogenmod 10 Rom (017). It's working great except for one issue. My headset is not outputing audio during a call or anytime. It will output audio over the speaker phone during a call, but not over the normal speaker. It also appears to not output audio over bluetooth. However, it will output audio over the headphone jack. I have played with all the settings adjusting to different volume levels, but this has not seemed to fix it. Is this just a weird jellybean setting that I'm not seeing? or is it just a bug with the ROM I installed?
Any ideas?
Thanks so much!
Josh

updates
After some more tinkering, it appears that bluetooth sound works during calls, but not during music play back. But it still appears that no matter what is done, the front speaker is not functional. I have tried reinstalling the ROM and the kernal.
Any suggestions?

Hey,
try the official nightly's, i'm on 09-23 and everythings working fine so far

I suggest going back to a sense Rom, CM10 is missing alot of stock features, has worse battery and generates a crazy amount of heat.
The temperature the device reaches is beyond even an overclocked ARHD Rom with faux.
Auto Brightness is dull (yet still crazy temps)
Widgets are awful
Camera is awful
Notification light tends to be always green
Plus several other annoyances

Blank screen
Has anyone else been having a problem with the screen going black/staying black after periods of inactivity?
I haven't been able to notice a pattern, but all I know is that, occasionally, my phone will refuse to show anything on the screen when I try to unlock it - other than black. The backlight will still be on, though, and the hardware keys light up.
It's fixed by a simple reset - but it's annoying as hell.
Anyone else out there having the same problem?
I've searched all over the internet and can't really find anything :s

Yes, that's a well known bug with the kernel, try a different kernel

Try IceColdJelly-ROM.
It is running Android 4.1.1 and is way faster and smoother than Cyanogenmod ..
and you don't have this freezing-screen-problem on ICJ..
regars :}

Thanks - I have no idea what either of you are talking about, specially how to change the kernel - but I'll look it up as soon as I get home
I read somewhere that it's a Facebook GPS bug, and since I've uninstalled Facebook it hasn't happened again...

[Q] HTC One X sound bug - A "Click" when sound starts/ends

Hello,
I just got my HTC One X a few days ago (white, o2-branded) and it has a quite annoying bug:
Everytime a sound (no matter if music, a game or just the volume adjustment sound) starts or ends, the phone makes a "clicking" sound. It sounds a bit like a camera shutter.
Hear for yourself:
(had to break up link because this is my first post, just remove the spaces)
youtu. be/thTyeud5foc
I contacted HTC's support and they told me it wasn't reported before and I should take my phone back to the store I bought it from.
Now my question:
- Has anyone else reported or read about that bug? Goggle couldn't tell me.
- o2 didn't deliver the 1.28 Update yet. Could it be a software problem? I remember some custom DHD kernels having similar issues. So should I just wait for the update?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers,
Phil

It happens with poweramp ... When you open it !
Sent from my HTC One X
I don't have poweramp installed...
On my phone, it happens whenever a sound starts/ends, no matter which app it is
Update:
It seems equalizer (an app I installed) is causing it. I didn't realize I had installed it, it was auto-restored by google when I got my new phone. As soon as I deinstalled it and rebooted the phone, the problem was gone. That's sad, because I don't like beats audio but want to be able to slightly increase the bass for some songs.
Anyone know another good equalizer app, preferrably with preset-widget-buttons on homescreen?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
i have the same, sounds like the camera lense is tapping the plastic
Check if you have Any app installed that alters your Sound, like equalizer, poweramp or similar. For me the clicking went away after I deinstalled and restarted the phone. You should probably untick quickstart before restarting.
It can be caused by DSPManager, disable all the tweaks for the speaker and reboot, works a treat.

Also can be caused by the virtual room settings, I would leave that disabled too.

I have the same issue. Stock phone, no root, Tmobile.
Hey guys
I picked up a One X on T-Mobile UK the other day (stock, not rooted yet) and I get exactly the same thing. I've only noticed it when playing music through Play Music (sideloaded the app via an apk found here), but now I'm going to look out for it when playing videos.
Given the comments made about poweramp and other equalisers, I suspect that it's something to do with the Beats Audio gubbins that comes pre-installed. So much for "studio quality sound", eh?
Hi,
mine issue is somehow close to yours.
When I connect my HOX to external speakers there is some sound like click which is heard every time s sound is produced by the phone. This click i hear in the beginning and the end of the original sound (music, notification, etc.). It's quite annoying as long as the overall sound quality of the phone is satisfying to me.
Also I dont have none apps affecting audio quality. Only the stock player + sound cloud + pocket casts.

I'm having a similar problem to others in this thread. I haven't installed any sound-altering apps, and no other adjustments have been made, yet whenever a sound plays a slight audio click follows... If anyone has an idea of how to solve this, I'd be very grateful. I'm on T-Mobile. Thanks!
---------- Post added at 11:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:14 AM ----------
I see on the FAQ that I should "disable any audio effects/audio DSPs to reduce the vibrations of the DAC"...
How do I do this, please? And is this only relevant if you've activated effects already? Thanks.
Is this problem still ongoing for most?
I got this phone for my cuz. When i tested the camera i heard the sound and thought was a camera thing and could be off if the camera shutter sound was disabled
after handing over the phone to him he says he still hears the sound whenever he plays any kind of audio
It was a stock phone from Verizon so I can't tell if any other apps were installed
I'll check and follow the instructions here then let you guys know.
If I find anything else that i can share to help out will also share that
G
That click sound is because of our ****ty DAC ... So if you want to have bad sound quality for example uninstall all equalizer apps...if you want to have better, then keep it and live with it that it will click sometimes...after a while it should disappear

Ok cool ONEX Master I'll see if it does go away.
Thought it was in fact a hardware issue.
Cause right now out of the country and have no simple way of just returning it.
Will upgrading the ROM or rooting and changing the ROM help?

it won't help normally as most EQ/DSP are producing this sound...it's because the DAC is forced to end sound so it will produce that click sound, but after a while it should be gone

Major CM9 Problem on Xperia Play

Back when I was on stock GB 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 my volume was extremely loud. Now on CM9 the audio quality is better but the maximum volume is terrible. Also my main problem, recently 1 of my speakers ( the bottom one, or the right one when the phone is open ) stops working and the left one gets EXTREMELY quiet. The only way to fix this is to reboot the phone and even then I usually happens again! WTF! someone help or confirm this is a know problem??

It's not. The volume in cm9 with NEVER be like stock. You can try dsp manager or volume+, but like I said it'll never be stock. As far as the speaker issue is concerned, it's sounds like a hardware issue not a software issue
I have noticed the Max volume on CM9 is quite low, I have to get some extreme sounds for my alarm.

Also 720p video recording does not work and makes my phone force close the app. Sometimes the camera app actually triggers my speaker to stop. I don't believe the speaker failure is a hardware problem I've been using stock 2.3.3 for almost a year with no problems what so ever but with in a month of using cm9 i get this problem typically once a day. That's what leads me to believe cm9 is the cause.

720p does work, I've used it..In order for 720 to work you need to use the correct kernel and wipe everything, not just dalvik cache. There is nothing in the rom that work cause your speakers to act that way, and as I've been developing since android 1.0 (and on cm for over 6 years) I know what I'm talking about. It may be a corrupt download that's the cause, but in general there has never been this issue related to the speaker brought up nor any complaints about 720p when done correctly. Sorry if any of this sounds rude, it's not meant to be

I'm using the included kernel in CM9 RC2, can you supply the kernel that allows me to use 720p? and whats the difference? If you don't have speakers problems with it I'll give it a try. Like I said no speaker problems what so ever on stock GB.... that's why I find this odd.

Weird issues with audio on my G2

Hey guys, I'm running the Elitemod ICS rom on my Desire Z, and lately I've been having some really really strange issues with audio. Firstly, when I plug headphones in nothing happens, and when I adjust the volume the beep that plays goes through the speaker not the headphones, but music or videos go through the headphones, no headphones icon appears as I think it used to do. Just before I was adjusting the volume and testing out music and noticed it was extremely quiet, I was about to reinstall the louder volume mod from the dev section, but I noticed that the audio was playing through the earpiece not the back speaker..... After a restart everything is nice and loud and normal, should I be worried or was it just a glitch.
EDIT: When playing music with Apollo, it seems that audio is playing out of the earpiece as well as the back speaker. Is this normal?
No, this is not normal. Did you do a clean install of the rom? Did you try other ROM's?
Since the problem started happening no I haven't tried any other roms, in the past yes I've tried heaps of roms. I did do a completely fresh install of this rom a while ago but it just started happening out of seemingly nowhere

I can only guess that it's a hardeware error if it doesn't work correctly on other rom's as well. If other rom's with the same kernel and android version work, you can try to copy the drivers from that rom to your current rom.
I hope it's fixed by installing a totaly different rom, otherwise you'll have to sent this one in to get it fixed as well.

audio skipping...anyone else have this problem?

I've searched the forums and found quite a bit of people saying they have experienced this, but I'm not sure if they were using notes or not.
For some reason, it doesnt matter what app I'm using, pandora, xm, or the stock players. They all studder just slightly, sometimes more so when the screen is off.
It's not a bluetooth specific thing, it happens over bluetooth as well as the speaker of the note3.
Is there a solution for this? It really drives me crazy and how can I host a party next weekend with this doing that
My girlfriend does not experience this on her nexus 5, is my problem specific to jellybean?
Thanks for your advice!

yep same problem.
i had it on nexus 4 - 4.3. but um, didn't start on my note 3 until after a few days of use. I'm not sure rebooting helps for long. i tried poweramp and jetaudio and stock player. Skips everywhere.
I tried setting decoder priority and buffer size to higher on Poweramp. Not sure if it'll help but we'll see.
I'm on N2 right now that has exact same problem, but BT only related. The micro pauses also differ between the receivers Sony Ericsson MW600 is so far the worst offender, the pauses last 1/2 second, on other receivers it's barely noticeable.
At least on N2 it's not related to the JB version, it was happening on 4.1.2 and 4.3. Changing kernel also doesn't affect the issue.
I suspect the cause is BT doesn't get enough priority and if lot's of apps running on the background it starts skipping. Usually I just reboot the phone then it works fine for a few hours, sometimes I use fast reboot app, that kills background processes it helps somewhat too.

Using PowerAmp I went to Huge buffer and Highest priority and it seems to have fixed the stuttering for me. I'm on rooted stock.
>Using PowerAmp I went to Huge buffer and Highest priority and it seems to have fixed the stuttering for me. I'm on rooted stock.
yup. same. now wish they'd add the same features to jetaudio+ and other players D:
I get this problem often. Odd.
I'm not sure if this is a solution but I noticed the problem went away when I was using different roms/kernel combinations.
Currently I've been using the compulsion kernel with some international roms and the problem hasn't come back!
Is it the kernel or rom I can't be sure. But either way it's fixed.
If someone experiencing problems with their rom wants to try the compulsion kernel and see if the problem still exists maybe it can help a lot of people.

VS985 CM13 Audio Issue and Other General Questions

I have the latest version of CM13 on my Verizon LG G3. I don't remember when exactly this started, but it was recent. Any audio through the headphone jack makes strange noises. It started out at as white noise, very quiet, and as far as I could tell, only around when audio was not playing. Now it has progressed to being quite a bit louder, with the most annoying addition being the crackling/distortion/chirping sound that plays along with any audio, even louder than the audio when above 3 clicks of volume. It sounds very similar to a blown transducer in my earbuds or headphones. That noise switches ears at random, though never during listening. There is also an extremely loud popping noise when I turn the equalizer on or off. I have fresh installed CM13 and that didn't help. I know all of this is an issue with CM13 because I tried two other ROMs today, the latest version of Skydragon and XenonHD, the former lollipop and the latter marshmallow, and neither made those noises. (Neither of which I can use by the way, because I couldn't get either to realize I had a SIM card). I also tried all of the same headphones on other devices, and no noise. I'm open to either a fix for the audio issue, a fix for either of those other two ROMs so that I can just switch to one of those, or even a third ROM you know that actually works, but I'd like best to fix CM13. Aside from all that, Mortal Kombat X runs really laggy on my phone. How could I get it to run better? I score 47,000 on the new Antutu, what is the highest possible with my device? I don't want to get into overclocking, because the game already near melts my phone after a while and eats battery, but I'd be interested in hearing about what's possible with it anyway, along with other methods of speeding up. I've also been interested in dialing screen resolution down to 720p, which would help the problem and save battery, but I haven't been able to find a method that works. Thanks for reading if you got this far!
I'm having the same issue.
Fresh install of cm13. Only when the audio Is playing, and every time I start and stop the audio, it makes a loud pop.
This is a software issue, is there a fix soon?

No idea, that's what I'm asking. I fresh installed too. I have a really loud pop when turning on or off the equalizer, which I forgot to mention.
I've had the headphone issue for at least a few weeks on the CM13 nightlies. Flashing the 777 kernel (R22) fixes it for me, so it must me an issue in the CM13 kernel.
