I've noticed that when I am using the Internet app or Tapatalk I get these weird very faint lines. It's hard to describe but it's almost like the display is jumping in horizontal lines. I took a screen shot of a Page and when I review the screen shot that display glitch comes back. Maybe it just happens when text is involved. I don't know but as I type this I don't see any of those issues but when I am browsing the topics on Tapatalk I see the issue.
Any thoughts?

Whenever my screen displays a black color in a certain few spots, you can see a weird black spot underneath that looks like oil leaking into the screen. You can only see this when the screen is dark and everything else works fine. Do you think this will be a big problem?

All amoled phones have that. It looks like an ink spots or blotches. You can only see it in a pitch black room. Its not a problem and shouldn't be noticeable during regular use. You can get an app called LCD screen test if you really want to see the blotches in a dark room
..but I wouldn't worry about it!

Thanks, I was a bit worried that it might cause hardware problems in the future

Noticed yesterday. At the top of the screen where the status bar is and at the bottom where buttons are.
Turned on film on Netflix and noticed blueish tint in those places.
Does anyone else is having this as well ?
Is there NY way of stopping it ?

as far as i know the Gnex screen is an amoled screen not LCD. i didn't think amoled's could suffer from burn. don't quote me on it
AMOLED screens can get burn-in faster than LCDs... I rotate the screen and use it in landscape mode very often, to avoid such problems... It is good to use lower brightness too...

I use LMT Launcher and hide the navbar
but still have the same problem at the status bar
wow, i looked it up and yeah, it's the opposite of what i thought. here i was thinking amoled was better than lcd. i'm pretty shocked
Yes, eventually you wil see a burn-in effect on the navbar and status bar if you rotate the phone to landscape. I see it on my 9 months old gnex. Doesn't bother me enough to consider it an issue.

I've heard if you put an image on the screen that is just a blank white photo it will take the burn out. I'm not sure but I've heard it before

Even if that works, the burn in would soon return because the position of the navbar and status bar are on the same spot 95% of the time.

This is why I hide top and bottom bars. Amoled burns in very easily.

Would anyone know if the Samsung warranty covers this?
Screw hiding it, had enough of that in my nexus one days. I see a bit of blueish tint, nothing too drastic.

I very much doubt warranty covers a vaguely noticeable burn-in effect, that only shows if the phone is rotated in certain views with certain backgrounds.
Hey I'm on free gs3, most current version, on twrp recovery, as basic info, but, when ever I'm on a black or dark screen like viewing a dark picture, there's a couple black pixels. Like I mean on a black picture, there's black with a very slight grayish color (as on all screens) but these pixels are solid dark, as if there's no back light or screen there. I believe I saw some stuff around about missing pixels on some roms but those usually occur the whole time, not on only black images. Anyone understand what I'm talking about? Please let me know to clarify if I'm being confusing
I most easily can see and tell by looking at a mostly black image, with some small lighter spots and then pan around it and notice a pixel or 2 remaining black or blacker that doesn't move

Mine has that problem too. When I first saw it I was so worried about it. But I tested my screen and it's fine

I've come to notice that after a few weeks of a ROM flash I will get artifacts on the boot screen and lock screen sometimes background also.
Just curious if anyone else gets this.

I noticed on my new note on dark backgrounds some screen issues. I noticed a purpleish smear when i scroll on some dark background pages. Especially when i was scrolling thru a page here on xda on gray images a purple color smear would appear. Did anybody else come across this issue? Im exchanging it for another one tomorrow.

It won't matter if you exchange it or not. The new screen technology makes the pixels actually turn off so blacks are true blacks. When they turn back on it causes that purple smear, or at least that's the theory prior are saying in other threads about this issue.

Interesting thank you for the info...i just read that the s4 experiences the same problem. A 700 dollar phone i dont think this should be an issue.

I'm noticing this on Tapatalk right now - the purple smear with the brightness all the way down. I don't know about the color, but the squish blurred effect is surely intentional. I'll try messing with some of the color settings to see if it's affected.
