[Q] [AOKP] Notifications -- SOLVED - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Currently, when I receive a new email, voicemail or text message, my sound notification whistles (yes, I missed the whistle so I added the sound back to this ROM). However, the sound notification does not work for my second and third email. The notification only works when the first has been cleared. How do I change this behavior so it notifies me for every notification every single time?

I'm going to assume you are using the Gmail app. If not, these instructions shouldn't be too much different for the default mail app.
Open Gmail
Go to Settings
Select your account
Select "Ringtone and Vibrate"
Uncheck "Notify Once"
FYI, this is not AOKP specific, this has been the case with the Gmail app for along time.

Mail and Text problems.

I have handcent (which I prefer to the standard HTC text) but whenever I receive a text I get alerts for both the HTC text AND Handcent. So I have to open them both in order to clear the notification bar. I've been looking for ages to find a way of disabling the HTC text but can't find anything.
Also I have a virtually identical problem with emails. whenever I receive email to my Gmail account, I receive two notifications, one for Googlemail and one for Mail. Again, I have to open them both in order to clear the notification bar.
Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

you don't need to open the message, just scroll down (pull down) the notification bar and on the top right it should say "Clear" and that will get rid of any notifications you have got exept for music when its playing or any other program you've got running that has an icon on the notification bar..
hope this helps!

Switch off notifications in the "Messages" app (within app untick Menu->Settings->Received Notification")
Switch off notifications in one of "Gmail" or "Mail" (similarly can be done via settings in Gmail/Mail.)
Regards,
Dave
Thanks for that, I have actually done so but I still have a problem when receiving texts. When a text comes in, I'm presented with the text displayed in the stock messaging box, I have to close that and open handcent to reply - which is quite annoying.
Any thoughts?

This is the answer because that's exactly what myself and many others have done. I can tell you that it works.
You must have unchecked the wrong options.

When you say the "stock messaging box", are you referring to the HTC widget? If so, you need to remove this. Also, have you ticked "Enable popup" in Handcent's notification settings?

Hide text content from.....

I'm using incrom 1.2 and can't find a way to hide texts from showing up in the notification bar. I had it set to only show a generic message on a few other roms but having no luck on this one. Any ideas
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Assuming you are talking about making text messages not show up in the notification bar, go to the messaging app, then press Menu, then settings and there should be an option somewhere in there

Yes just go to messaging > settings > and turn off notifications
the only problem with doing this is that you get no notification at all. i would like to hear the sound or vibration or however i have it set, i just dont want it show it on in the notification bar.
You'll need an app to do this, it's not built into the ROM.
Try out MyCalculator in the Market. There's a free version, works great and you can setup virtual SMS messages for certain contacts. When a selected contact send you a SMS or MMS, you'll get a notification but you can control the text and icon that show up.
There are others as well. Maybe check out Handcent?

[Q] Modified GMAIL app for Light Flow?

I am using Light Flow and I noticed one of the settings allows you to have contact-based access to gmail but you need a modified gmail app to use it. Where do I find the modified gmail app? My phone is rooted and I am running Codename Android.
Thanks!
You can just click the 'add' button in the notification window and it seems to jump to contacts. Never bothered to look much tbh as I just use Light Flow for apps but it might just work...
EDIT: Had a quick look, it gives options for SMS, MMS and missed calls for a specific contact

Under Light Flow settings, there is a "Modified Gmail app" option. If you select this, then in addition to picking contact-specific notifications for SMS, MMS and missed calls, you can also set up contact specific notifications for email addresses. I tried this and unfortunately it does not work. I assume this is because I do not have the "Modified" version of Gmail.
Anyone know what Light Flow is referring to when they reference Modified Gmail App??

[Q] Notification after sending text message

I couldn't find a thread about this subject with search so here it goes.
When I send a text message, I get the same notification as receiving one when my contact receives it. So: I send, contact receives, I get notified with sound, vibration etc.
I want to shut this down because it's confusing. I then think someone sent me a sms or whatsapp-message or whatever. But I don't know how. I tried everything in the settings of the messaging app. Is this standard?
The option for take off this is: Message app -> settings -> SMS -> delivery reports (first voice)

But I do want to have delivery reports. Except, on my other Android phones I just saw a small icon next to the messages when they received it. I don't want to be notified about them. That's not possible on the HOX?
Then i don't know...
Sorry
So, did you try to remove the check on: message app -> settings -> Notifications -> Notifications sent?

i have the same issue, even if it is not a big problem since sense4+ work like that, but it would be great if we can disable the sound of the delivery report.
Exactly
do some one have any idea to this issue ? thank you
Any updates on an answer for this? I am wondering the same.. I like the little icon that confirms the message has been sent but would not like the sound notification each time a message is sent..
Remove or change delivery report sound
Hope this will help!
1. Go to your messaging app, settings/notifications/notification sound/
Then choose one. The sound you are going to choose here will be your delivery report notification
2. Get out of messaging app, go to settings/personalize/sound/notification sounds/messages/
Choose one once again. The sound you will pick here will be your incoming text message notification
Then you're done!
Just notice when you will have a look at messaging settings/notification/.../ the name that will appear will be the one you picked in personalize/.../ BUT don't worry cause you will definitely have two different sounds for delivery and incoming text message!
Also note that when you'll want to change your SMS SOUND, you go to personalize, not to messaging settings!
And if you don't want a sound for delivery reports, just put a short empty mp3 audio file into media folder!
That's it!

[Q] Delivery report notification?

Does anyone know how to stop the notification for delivery report or at change the tone? Right now it is set to the same tone as my sms notification and I can't seem to find a way to change it. It's really annoying because I always think I get a text but it is the delivery report. I would just change to a third party sms app but I like how my sms show up on the lock screen with the stock app. Any suggestions?
If you go into Settings in Messages you can set the notification tone for received messages and if you scroll further down you can disable the notifications for sent and failed messages and also set a different notification tone than your received one.
Sorry for the long run on sentence. My brain isn't functioning too well today.

Yeah, the notification for sent message is off right now. There doesn't appear to be an option for delivery notification which is different from sent message. It's the little checkbox thing next to texts when you send an sms to people on the same carrier.
Found it (maybe?). Settings, Text messages (SMS), deselect Delivery Reports. Also appears to have it under Multimedia Messages.
Yeah I still want the delivery report icon next to my texts, I just don't want a notification. If I uncheck it I lose them completely. That's how it has been for every other sms app I have used. I guess I'll have to just live without them.
