Hello Members!
I have a rather odd problem my second xperia play rooted with stock rom starts to behave strange.
I had it repaired since the connector between the screen broke (seems a common play problem).
Now to the problem my xperia play is starting to charge very fast and discharches at very fast speed aswell.
I didn't use the play for 2 months since the repair center didn't have the connector in stock.
I didn't send my battery to them because I rooted the device and if they decided not to repair it I needed to pay 40 euros to get the device unrepaired back. So yea I just sent the play withouth a battery if there was a chance they didn't want to repair it I still had a spare battery.
But they repaired my rooted device !
Anyway the battery stayed dormant for 2 months aproxx. Since yesterday I have my second play back and this problem is occuring.
Another strange thing is when I put the other battery in my play and try to charge it there the device won't charge at all
The led is on but the battery indicator doesn't show the charging icon. The other battery doesn't have this problem it behaves the same on both devices and charges normally and discharges normally aswell
Did the battery die on me ? Would wiping battery stats help ? or anything else I can try?
I assume that the battery is giving the phones wrong readings but then again doesn't explain why the other play behaves diffrently so I am very confused of course.
At the moment I discharged the battery to 0% and charging it way back up to 100%
Edit in less then one hour the battery has gone from 0 to 62%
The strange thing is my other unrooted play doesn't want to charge the battery ( led on that it charges indicator on upper right corner not)
Kind regards
Edit now testing a full discharge fired up a game with wifi on to see if the battery is giving wrong readings.
Problem still the same though when I put it in the other play charging icon not showing.
Will try to delete battery stats after this and see if this works
Any other help is appriciated
Ok things I tried so far
Full charge/discharge = did not help
Wiping battery stats = did not help
Reflashing rom + wiping battery stats = did not help.
Still same problem battery charges in old xperia play but not in new xperia play.
Really no one else that has tips ?
Kind Regards
Probably Hardware problem.
Looks like overclocked battery.

Hi
my wildfire can't charge more than 5% i know it is not battery fault because i have used two different batteries.
i wiped my battery 5 times i wiped everything a changed my Rom Changed my kernel.i am using CM7.
i read this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11803458&postcount=10
but it is for Motorolla and when i pull out battery my phone turns off immediately.
i used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597846 but it didn't work for me.
i tried to restore my phone to official rom with RUU but i can't because it says that your battery must be more than 30% so i don't know how to do that thank you everyone please guide me?
Try installing battery caliberation from play storeand follow the instructions given in the app. It might help.

i think it's software problem not hardware because i changed the battery with another battery which was used in another phone and it was full but in my phone the battery status was 11% when i put it again to another willy it was 95%.
It doesn't charge after 5% or it doesn't show more than 5% battery? Huge difference between the 2

Exactly. And if it is like that, then use the calibration tool while your phone it on charge.
Again asking for clarifying....is you phone not charging beyond some % or is your phone not showing the charge beyond some %
?
I am having a similar problem but mine doesn't charge beyond 75-80% depending upon when I have plugged it for charging.
If I start charging at say 50%+ it charges beyond 80% but does not fully charge, and if I start at say <40% it does not go beyond 74%.
Now at this level if I restart my willy the battery shows 90+% and I can charge it to 100%.
I have tried everything wiping the battery stats, using the calibration tool nothing's really working. I doubt when I used a Samsung charger for charging that's where the electrical circuit might have got damaged or may be when when I dropped it from 4-5ft.
Since I have already rooted it I don't think HTC service center will help me here with motherboard or electrical changes.
If you guys know any method lease let me know and btw it's >1.5 yr old battery.
Thanks

can you explain more?shall i charge it then remove battery and then start charging again and again?i could reach to 42% woooow but not 100%.
can anyone change the codes of battery by making a flashable patch for just showing 100% of battery(not real status) i need this for calibrating my battery.but batterystats.bin wasn't useful
This issue may have been solved, but I'll post anyway.
You can calibrate your battery when it's lower than 100% using the app mentioned above. There is an option within the app to calibrate it regardless of battery percentage, just click that option then calibrate.
Hope it helps,
Francis.

Hi, now that i have your attention!
I have cm7.2 democracy on my gio
I barely use it for wifi or gaming now because the battery is S**t.
I had 2.3.6 GB before and battery could take out 2 days on games and music. Now suddenly after switching to cm7.2 i need to charge it twice a day without using any app or game. just some texting like 10, 12.
I use ondemand governor and max freq is 806 min is 245
Also a couple of times i have seen that when my battery is at 30% and charge it then within 5-10 minutes it showed 100% charged. Unplug the charger.
Any suggestions or something on this? I really need an answer guys. Thanks
I can tell you that you can't charge your battery within 10 minutes.
Charge it at least 2 hours, 2.5.

Yeah! I will. Even if it says fully charged. IDK whats the problem with it. It drains so quickly.
Even if i charge it 2 hours even then i have to charge it twice a day.
I have the same problems. Some help?

No one has found a solution 'till now?I'll try to use ODIN and go back to stock version, maybe that will help. Has anyone had those battery problems before using a custom ROM?with stock my battery used to last 2 days with games and music etc, now I can only use it for 5 hours without any games or music or internet. It also charges from 0 to 100% in 30 minutes , maybe less. I'm still hoping someone found a solution for this problem because it is useless to have a phone without any battery.
Try to get a new battery because huge draining problem is not caused by roms it caused by battery damage.my battery runs on stock rom over the 10days without using anything but on cm9/10 roms it drains faster but still runs more than 3days for me.
so no one got it?
Thank God I am not the only one here
But guys, I have been using stock GB for an year. Its been only a week on cm7.2 democracy and nightly.
Both have same battery issues and non of this happened in stock
It's not the battery issue.its something else. I'm sure
Have you tried going back to stock version using ODIN?I think that is the ultimate solution before sending my phone to service(I still have warranty).

Try to "recalibrate" your battery; in cwm theres an option "wipe battery stats". some say its nonsense, some say it really helps; i would give it a try.
No idea if theres an option with stock roms, though.....
I'm calibrating now...Will post the result in a while. (Tomorrow i guess)
I still couldn't solve this..I flashed the stock firmware with ODIN and still no luck, I'm starting to think it is a hardware problem, maybe I will send the phone to service now that I have the stock firmware back. Has anyone found any solution?
Hey, i found this article
For the users who like to try out new ROMs very often or by default Android receives updates to Android very often. These updates re constantly pushed to the users to provide the better experience to the users. For those who flash their mobile handset with custom ROM they are advised to charge their handset to 100 % battery life and then proceed with the upgrade processor. That is advised because if you have 50 % of battery life and proceed with firmware update, the new custom ROM will consider 50 % battery life as the full battery stats and this will provide half the battery life then earlier as specified by your phone manufacturer. In those cases you need to go with the battery calibration to gain 100 % battery backup as specified by your provider. There is complete procedure on how you will calibrate your phone battery is mentioned by us and if you would like to make the process very much easier then you can make use of a specially designed application which calibrates your battery. (Battery Calibration)
Okay so i flashed a new custom rom with 100% battery but no luck on battery issue. Its still draining the same.
then i calibrated my battery with this app with my battery at 100% which of course is 50% as said by this article, the app said "Your battery has been calibrated by 6%". Don't know what that means.
ANY HELP? DEVELOPERS PLEASE GUYS!
Try to calibrate it too.It may fix it.

I have the same issue, I am using CM10.1 RC0 by Olddroid but I think my problem is the charger. For the last month I charged my Gio using the usb connection from PC. Now, if I use the charger the battery drains faster than charging with the usb connection method. I am gonna buy a 1500 mAh battery and hope to solve this problem.
Hi guys, I bought 2 batteries so I could play longer (info here)
I charged one and replace my original battery. At that moment my original battery was at 70%. I put the new battery and with shock I see that the battery level was 70%, the same level that my original SE battery.
I think battery level got stuck somehow. Is there a way to fix it or is a battery problem?
ADDED: while I was writing this post, my battery went from 70% to 80% without been connected to a USB cable or charger... extrange.
I think it has something to do with the battery stats not being tuned to the new battery. I wish I had more info for you, like how to reset the stats, but I can't recall on how to do it, as I have yet to do so myself lol. I just remember reading about it here at xda....maybe under accessories section.

Ye its not your battery thats screwed anyway just let ur battery drain then charge it to 100% & wipe stats, u can do so by searching for battery calibration app on playstore. It comes with instructions and is simple. It just deletes a file for batterystats inside data/misc I think ( I havent had to do it in a long time ).

hi guys
i just got new Xperia Ion 3 days ago .... to be honest moving from Sony Erricsson C901 to Xperia Ion is amazing
the Mobile is VERY STOCK .... no additional programs or anything ... NIL
however ... it's Heating up
and the battery lasts 6-9 hours with mixed use (wifi 2-3 hours + 15 min voice call+ 30% screen brightness + screen on time = about 2-3 hours as well )
tried with Brevia Engine On and Off
and tried with Sleep timeout 15 sec and 30 sec
people told me Smart phones consume battery massively .... but charging phone 2-3 times a day ... makes it undependable and more or less like home land line ...specially when i'm used to charge my old mobile after using 3G , Music , bluetooth tethering and Camera massively every 2 days at least
so please guys help me ...
i tried to reset the phone and see if it fix the problem , however nothing yet
should i send it back to the dealer , or is this normal or xperia ion
here are some screenshots attached
thanks
Screen time 2-3 hours, then you are experiencing a normal battery life.
With heavy use [considering screen on time at least 2 hours +/-) no one here gets more than 8-10 hours I believe.
Bro. I also face this problem. Hardly I can use my ion for 2-3 hours maximum. So I tried many ways to fix it. The best way I found was flashing CM10 ROM. I can use 8-10 hours in CM10. I think you can solve it by flashing CM10. Just an idea. Many people wants to keep there warranty. If you are one of them I don't recommend it. Sorry for my bad English.
My Ion had terrible battery life when it was new. It gets much better after about 2 weeks. It takes a while for the phone to learn the battery's charge cycle.

From the picture...Screen display consumes too much, then its not the phone defects...Its yourself...
Plus, the latest firmware from sony 6.1.E.3.7 have bad battery management...Flash back to 6.1.E.2.68 and you'll see damn nice battery consmption...
But then again need to get root access...My ion normally minimum around 8 Hrs for the batt to go 0%
what can i do more !!
Screen brightness is around 20% ... and the ugly thing in this phone i donno why SONY wanted to save 2-3 dollars and don't put a light sensor on it !! -_- *DUH* Capitalism !
anyway ... i'm trying couple of applications ...one of them is "2x battery" is giving me decent result till now (4-5 hours) ...you should try it
and is there any updates soon to jelly beans ? maybe they fix the power management problem ?
and how can i flash back ? suggest some threads ?
thanks
There is an ALS (ambient light sensor) on the phone. Also it is always on. Just hold phone under a light and then cover the top of phone above screen and you will see changes.

honestly this mobile is rubbish to the ground and this is the second time with sony mobile
the phone status deteriorated so fast that now i only have barely 2 hours screen time (20% brightness which is barely watchable) , and nothing is running in the back except avast anti virus , and battery manger
the phone gets SO HOT reaching sometime to 58 c and usually 45-48 c !!!
the normal slow charger (Laptop-USB / car-charger) is extremely slow to the level that after 7 hours of charging you get only around 60% charged , and if you are using the phone while charging the battery meter goes DOWN while charging and the phone gets very hot !!!
i'll return the phone after a month of use , but my only regret is that i listened to people here who don't even have the mobile or bother to read the details about the problem -_-
There is something wrong with ur phone. Mine doesnt get hot..
I´m using it in my car, too. I charge it and use it to navigate me around, and there is no battary drain.
Does the phone overheat? My xperia s did overheat couple of times and wasn't charging even though it was.connected.
I rebooted and it solved. I had to let the phone to be cooled down before running it again.
U could try rebooting. Try hard reset if noting works.

how come there is difference between the wall usb charger and usb charger ? i mean practically the CABLE itself will not transfer more than 5 volts / 0.5 Amps ??
and beside this ,how come the charger can NOT cope with the battery consumption of the phone itself on GPS or 3G service ?!!!
are you serious !
Last mouth my X.S have made 1 year of use.
But, recently, the battery was drained very fast...
about 30%over the night
and with a casual use, it lasts about 12 hours, with 3g on brightness on 25%
I use the 6.2.B.1.96.
I was wondering if this is something the OS is causing(which will need to reinstall the room or a custom one)?
or it is an natural aging of the battery.?
If it is the battery, i would buy a new one from ebay, you guys have some good seller to recomend?
I'm afraid that the seller send a fake one.
Thank you guys!
I would recommend you get Wakelock Detector or Better Battery Stats and find out if it's a rogue app draining your battery before you start looking for a hardware fix. Because if this is the case, you'll have bought a new battery only for it to have the same issues as the old one.
Power
I have found that a lot of the apps I use with push notifications really cause the drain, though flashing to a fresh build always seems to help too.
You could force calibaration
Fully charge the battery
And natruly let it die and turn off when it hits 0% and then put it on charge then leave for a few mins and then you should be able to power it up
