I just make a mistake, i formated my sdcard now i can't start upin clocwork recovery because I can't apply SDcard:Update.zip
please can anyone help me
Can you not just plug the phone into usb and put the update.zip on the SD card?
Failing that, use a card reader.

you can download it from the fakeflash thread
Or download rom manager and extract it from the rom manager folder that is created on your SD.
So many options
oki i have rom manager installed should i just rename the recovery_update.zip to updtae.zip and then out in the root of my sc card ?
Just keep ROM Manager installed and click Flash Recovery. ROM Manager is a useful tool to have.

Yes, do exactly that. I like to have update.zip on the SD and rom manager. i use the update.zip incase I get a boot loop and cant get into rom manager.
Please don't hurt the noob.
I am new to all this and I need a little direction.
Instructions for flashing all include unpacking to the SD Card. I don't know which directory when I have the device mounted as HD is the SD Card.

Download the rom that you would like to run, don't unpack it,leave it zipped up,then mount your sd card to your computer, drag and drop the zipped rom to the root(the very first folder opened) of your sd card, unmount your sd card, now go to your recovery and scroll to the wipe directory and wipe everything, but your sd card, again don't wipe your sd card,if you wipe your sd card you'll have to start all over again with rooting. After you wipe, then go to flash zip menu, then choose zip from sd card, then scroll to the zipped rom you just dropped on your sd card and choose it,then it will ask if your sure, choose confirm, then your off,it will install and take a few more minutes to load, because you wipped all th data. After set-up it is in your best interest to go back to recovery and do a nandroid backup.I hope this helped you.
Thank you both for the help. I'm a first time android owner and very new to rooting. The instructions on how to flash were very helpful.
Thanks buttoned both of you.
Hi all,
I've been trying to flash ROMs on my phone using my external SD card but it always fails with unable to open zip file. I can flash this properly in my internal SD card though.
Thanks!

Everything I flash is on my external. Sounds like what you use to copy the files isn't doing it properly. I use root explorer to move the files between internal and external before flashing. Double check the file sizes.
I used to use oi file manager. It copies and pastes the file fine but can't move them. You would always get "unable to move some files" but the file would be "moved"

it works fine for me, I always flash from my external...
I use rootexplorer to move or delete files,
Weird... I used another sdcard and now it works! Thanks for the suggestions!

I'm having a similar issue with a new sdcard that i got (32gb), i have tried to reformat it from the system settings and it fails from there, and then i am trying twrp and it also fails from there?
can someone please help, how can i fix this, i would really like to have the bigger card in the phone!
While on the below thread .. I eventually ended up making my TWRP to format my data, system, cache, as well as internal storage!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46522379&postcount=364
Now it is all gone. successfully.
Note, when i formatted the internal storage - it did ask me to restart to update the partition tables. I did that. I warned me that there is no OS. I went ahead and restarted in recovery. I could browse using TWRP->advanced->file manager and see the zips on external sd card.
I had gapps and rom zip files copied on external SD card. When I try to flash those in TWRP, it throws an error - E: unable to open zip file!
Now I can not flash any of those! there is no OS also on the phone! I suspect that the external SD card is corrupt! I have good zip files on my computer (it has no working sd card reader).
Is there any way, i can transfer these zip files from my computer to phone's internal storage from where i can flash them?
please help!

There's no way to effectively access internal SD without having been mounted first.
But there are two ways you can do this.
1. Take the MicroSD Card and insert into the PC via Card Readers. Then copy the zip files there. Properly eject the card from PC then insert it into the phone. Now TWRP will recognize the files and flash them. If it still does not then its a bad download so download again. Also while there, get the MD5 values as well for your zip files. This allows the recovery to validate the files. If you still have errors then roll back TWRP to version 2.5.0.0
2. Put phone in download mode. Use Odin on PC to flash one of the rooted stock roms. After that, proceed to re-download on phone and try again.
P.S. - I typically never let Recovery to format my external card. Then the file system issues start popping up.
EDIT - I noticed from your other post that your PC does not have a working SD Card Slot. In that case, you could put the card in another phone and then copy the files to this sd card and then use that way.

How do I flash CM or MIUI ROM using odin? I am trying to search the forums but unable to find anything! odin needs a tar file and all these roms come with zip file! What do I do?
You can't unless the dev specifically made an Odin flashable version, which they never do. Flash the stock root66 firmware with odin.
You can't access the internal storage simply because it's not there anymore. When you chose to format data, it completely wiped out the /data partition. Your internal sd is really located at /data/media, but until you can reboot, this won't be recreated.
I doubt the external sd is corrupt or you would've seen issues before your wiping frenzy. But you can use adb while in recovery to connect the phone to your computer. Search for adb sdk install guide, or similar.
Best option now is to try Odin flashing the root66 firmware.
Oh, and you probably know by now, but never format system! This should only be a last resort type thing imo. Never understood why people recommend it for things like prepping for a Rom flash. The Rom will format system during install anyway.

I used this
http://apcmag.com/how-to-unroot-your-galaxy-s3-and-flash-it-back-to-stock-rom.htm
and got the stock rom back. appeared like that was the only way to get back to running system. Now it's alright.
to my surprise, following problems disappeared.
1. The SD card no more automatically ejects!
2. battery lasts longer!
3. no random reboots at all!
never thought .. i would feel good getting back to stock rom !
Isn't that exactly what we were telling you to do in the first place though? Use odin to flash stock/root66 firmware? I think you just took the long way is all. I also have all that firmware hosted so people could download it much faster than by using sammobile or samsung-updates hotfile downloads.
Either way though, glad you got it running again!
Just posting so others know if they come across this in the future.

yes guru! you said it.
I tried adb route too ... but for some reason it never detected my device. I tried removing, installing drivers, getting sdk and all. then tried the odin route.
Now will stay with this rom for some days ... before I get back to MIUI ... want to see it working ... for some reason it was continuously making my phone reboot! now that it is a clean slate, i hope this time, it will work!
fingers crossed!
If you want to try adb again for anything in the future, there's a different driver pkg that would probably help there. Adb universal drivers. Theyre in my driver repo with the rest if you ever need them.

just copy the zip file on your phone storage

hello,i own an experia m c1905 4.3 rooted...the problem is that link2sd or app2sd do not work(it shows that there is not an sd card or my phone does not support it or the sd card is emulated)so is this a problem of the firmware?would it work in 4.1.1?or is a problem of my phone?could anyone help me with this?thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english....!!!!!
Bro xperia m doesn't support moving apps to external sd but you can use link2sd to link your apps to external sd instead of moving, linking will move all the data of the app to external sd, making space on internal sd but you have to make a partition on your external SD if you want to use link2sd using mini partition tool.
So download mini partition tool on your pc, connect your external sd through phone or card reader and make a fat32 partition of 2gb or however you like and then you will be able to use link2sd.
Hit thanks

Bro app2sd won't work on any android version in Xperia M but you can use Link2Sd for linking apps to external sd and here is the tutorial link to partition your SD and use link2sd (look at the 4th point) - http://www.xperiablog.net/2011/12/12/link2sd-guide-never-worry-about-internal-memory-limits-again/
And no matter you have locked or unlocked bootloader , you can't transfer apps to sd .... you can only link them.
But if you want you can swap your internal memory to external and vice-versa.
Hit Thanks :good:

this is exactly what i did and my phone was rebooting all the time so i had to flash the rom again....i made a folder in sd card named 0 and moved all files from internal in there (cut-paste)was this the Wright way?or I have to just copy paste the files???also after the root on 4.3 can i delete thes system.ext4 file cause its too big
Instead of cut/paste try copying the files and look on the 18th page of that swapping sd card thread and follow the step by step guide by "spknair", and yeah you can delete that system.ext4 file now it will be fine.

If you are stuck in boot loop (rebooting after Xperia logo), maybe you are not "full rooted" your handset.
you have to use 'boot fix' to get full root. search for it. test with all available bootfixes available, as I do. I couldn't share my boot fix. its for XMD
why are you still on old firmware?
In my opinion 4.3 is better.
The useful thing I had noticed that its Unicode support of fonts.

Bro, read carefully his first post, he already told that he is on 4.3 rooted , So that's the new firmware and i don't think there's any need for 'bootfix' for 4.3 root .
I think he must be doing something wrong in the swap procedure that's why he is getting a bootloop and that's why i suggested him to look on your post. :good:

First of all, I am also a newbie to Android.
I had make swap my memory more than 4 times.
because I had tried to link2SD work with this.
1. download busybox & root explorer from store & install it
2. download zip file & APK file from OP
3. install intd.apk. open it. tap on 'activate' & 'verify'. Now you could get the verification.
4. make a folder named "0" (zero) 2 @ root of your memory card.
5. move all files & folders to '0' on your memory card
6. move all files & folders from internal storage to '0'
7. if you got any error message, please copy-paste all files & then delete from internal storage.
8. just extract the zip file. you will get 2 folders
9. move these to root. root is the basic location. I you press back ('parent folder' in root explorer) many times you will get to root position.
10. if you got any error message, please copy-paste all files to its respective locations. you have to mount as r/w in root explorer (option as a button)
11. then go to root-system-etc-iniit.d. folder. there will be a file named "11extsd2internalsd", right?
12.set permissions to '11extsd2internalsd' all 9 options (just ticking) from root explorer's menu. (read, write, execute)
13. Reboot.
Never connect your mobile as mass storage
use any application to stop all running processes & apps before moving (step 5)
No need of formatting & flashing (LB)
In my advice please delete .thumbnail folder from DCIM, which will accelerate your moving speed.

the problem is that when i extract the zip into init.d it nothing happens it shows just the two files that are already in the folder....(i use root file manager not root explorer because its not free)
ok i finally did it succesfully...i will write exactly what i did to help others having this problem too...
1.i downloaded this zip http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2681457&d=1397284566
2.i downloaded this apk from this thead http://click.xda-developers.com/api...pdated for (LB) - xda-developers&txt=this app
3.using ''root browser'' (from play store) i created a folder in sd card 1 named ''0'' (without the quotes)
4.moved all files and folders from sd card 1 to folder 0 (the one that i created in sd card 1)
5.moved all files and folders of sd card 0 in the same folder as in step 4(android folder was still there but all other folders and files were moved)
6.i opened init.d and pressed activate and then verify to see if it was succesfull
7.extracted the zip and cut 11extsd2internalsd file and paste it into system/etc/init.d(before this i set all permision ticks to the init.d folder or else could not move the file in it)the other folder named META-INF i copied it to home of the ''root browser''(i mean to the first screen you see as you open the root browser)
8.i set all permisions to 11extsd2internalsd file(9 ticks)
9.rebooted my phone
10.the swap was done succesfully!!!!
thank you all for your help and for your time!!!!!!!!!
