I am wondering if anyone has figured out how to tag people in pictures from your WP7 device before uploading to Facebook.
AND...How to upload video to Facebook from phone from album.
Thanks
Can't upload video yet, well by default. I am unsure if an app exists to help with this. Currently I have to use Zune on the PC to work with my videos.
Tagging, not sure, seems like that is a browser enhanced feature that would use silverlight, flash or js that the newest internet explorer doesn't seem to recognize.
Pretty sure you can just tap the image you are uploading to tag it. I did it on accident and I think that was how. It might have been within the actual Facebook app. Idk

That didnt work...Cant figure it out but will keep trying.
Tagging is done by either long pressing or double tapping, can't remember but I've done it before, too lazy to try now.
Make sure you're doing it in the dialogue just before actually uploading the pic, the one where you name it and such.

Tagging can be done using the fb app for the Wp7. Tap and hold for about 3 seconds on the face that u wanted to tag, then ur fb friends list would pop out. This of course is applicable to photos which have already been uploaded.

It also has a weird behavior... From my experience you need to tap for three seconds, and then let go for the name list to show itself... I thought it should have popped up regardless...

Didnt work on the focus.
Also, no go with the other recommended method.
I was able to tag photos (really hadn't tried before).
1. open the facebook app
2. click on the photo you want to tag (already has to be uploaded to facebook)
3. In the photo view, long press on the picture, you should see the bottom menu drop off, then your contacts pop up and you can click who you want to tag it to.
I'm a developer and I want to develop my first official market app. I've developed a couple of applications but just for personal use and experience. I have gathered a group of very talented developers and we are onto something big.
What would be an app that you would like to see developed? The app (or apps) with the most popular demand will get started on immediately.
We've been considering a couple of ideas. Anyone down for Airplay for android? tun tun tuuuuun..or maybe not. Maybe a crazy cross platform game?
We are open to suggestions.
Thanks

This is an easy one
Develop and apk that fully integrates your Contacts with your Calendar. So if I want to schedule an appointment with John I just go to is contact record and select "make appointment". It then creates a link between John and the Calendar for that appointment. So if you are looking at the appointment you can easily call John, navigate to using address or add notes to his record.

Thats not a bad idea. I understand where you are coming from. It would actually come in handy. It would have to be an extension to the original android operating system. Unless I were to make an entire new contact app that would integrate these features easily.
Towards the end you say "..looking at the appointment you can easily..."
do you want to be able to just click his address from the calendar and open up navigator?
I'm too lazy to pick up the books and relearn what all I need to know, but, I've had this idea tossing around in my head for awhile.
Make an app to basically create a data set and determine your battery estimated maH, and if you need to recallibrate it. Once you have all that data, there are tons of things you can do with it as well, its just a matter of making the program light weight enough to run in the background so it doesn't re-do calculations and eat up juice.

Considering most TVs use IR, and the evo lacks an IR port, there is quite a substantial hardware limitation.

The concept is so that you can create an appointment for a contact in your calendar that is linked between the contact and the calendar.
For instance, when I make an appointment with Joe, Joe's information such as his phone number and address are instantly accessible from the calendar. That way if I need navigation to Joe's address I can access it directly from the appointment without having to manually type it into the calendar program.
These links could also easily allow me to say "show me all appointments for Joe". Or if I am on way to Joe's and running late I can call or text Joe from the appointment record instead of having to look it up.
The idea is to automate and reduce duplication of effort. Never type the same information twice - link to it instead. There is an app called "Contact Event" that comes close to doing this the but it doesn't actually create a link, it just pastes contact data automatically into the calendar record when creating it. The difference would be the link which would make it a relational database concept as opposed to just cut and paste.
When creating a new contact your app should also generate a Primary Key that uniquely identifies that contact. Then when you make an appointment for that contact, you simply drop their Primary Key into the appointment record, link the two tables and you are done.

Phajen is absolutely correct, the problem comes with the hardware limitation. It's almost ipossible unless the tv itself is on wifi

What you CAN do is take one dollar bills remove the metallic ink they have on them if you put them to soak in sodium combined with carbon...ehhhh.....never mind.

Interesting...I'm gonna check Contact and Event and see what it's like, I would just have to beef it up a little bit. I will get back to you one this but I like the idea.
An app that lets you add on to the existing code to your liking.
Or a series of apps, a basic twitter client, a home launcher, a clock widget. Something easy we could build on *from the phone* without the use of Eclipse. If that's at all possible.
We now have Stericson's Signapktic app that allows us to sign zips, apks, and jar file from our phone so we're slowly getting closer to something like that.
Stericson's apps are pretty awesome.
How about and app that lets you dynamically re-arrange your homescreens without havin to drag icons around?
You can do this in the MIUI Rom but I hate the apple-like interface so I dont use that rom.
I know u woild get rich off the apl alone lol

Hi,
I read somewhere that ICS can have high res contact photo in the People App, but only when synced with Google+.
Is that true?
That means, if you don't sync with Google+, and utilizing only Google Contacts (GMAIL Contacts), you will get low resolution 96x96 from Google Contacts.
So, how do you add the Google+ profile of your contact in the People App?
Do you add it manually? Or the People App will automatically search and pick one for you?
Because, if we can add the G+ profile manually, I think we can have workaround by creating G+ profile for them manually !
This is a right f**k up pain in the ar5e problem that could probably be easily fixed by google.
I used an external app to link all my google contacts to my facebook contacts thus providing pictures, its better to do it that way because if I install a custom rom that requires a wipe I dont have to re-link the contacts.
Unfortunately about 0.5% of my phone contacts and facebook friends have google plus so i've no idea how to get around it.
ICS looks so cool and polished only for someone to ring me and present me with a picture that looks like its come out of a 1980's pong game. grrr

Make sure you have your IRL friend in your normal Android/Google contacts, then if you add your manually created "friend" on Google+ there will be 2 separate contacts on your phone - one for phone, one for G+.
If you go to the "phone" contact and select "edit" in the menu then on the next page there will be an option to "Join" in that menu.
If you then select the G+ contact, it will be joined to the phone contact as one user with phone number and G+ pic!
Or I think you can just manually add a photo to the contact but I haven't tested whether that is definitely hires or not.
All my contacts are on Google Contacts. I've assigned photos from Picasa but they still look crap...
Why Why Why..
I think you can manually change contact photo with high res one.
But, once you synced with Google Contacts, it will be replaced with the low res from Google Contacts.
I wish there is an option to just disable contact photo sync, photo only.
Or, is there any clever developer who could create an app to simply replace all contact photos with user selected one?
I could imagine the app would work like this:
. The app works like the contact app, when started it will show you contact list
. Then you can assign photo manually to each contact
. App will remember this assigment
. Woth one button hit, the app replaced all contacts pgoto with the assigned one
So, every time after we synced with Google Contact, we simply run the app, hit the replace all contact photos button, and we are done!
Okay, any dev out there? I will pay premium for this kind of app!

a much easier way is to get a decent sized pic of your contact and save it to your phone and then edit contact > edit pic > select new pic. simples! - they DO NOT have to be from Google+ at all!
Hope that helps!

Not quite true. As soon as you sync your contacts with Google it sends them to the cloud which uses 96x96 photos. For some reason these then get used on the phone.

In my experience the phone will keep the high res contact picture, but if you delete your contacts for whatever reason (e.g. factory reset) then restoring from Google Contacts will bring back the low res versions.
The Google+ versions seem to work with high res photos, but since only about 4 or 5 of my "real life" friends actually use Google+ this is a bit pointless for me.
This is a problem with Google Contacts only saving low res pics, and it has been a request from the community to upgrade these for absolutely ages. So far it has gone unnoticed, which I presume is because of the focus on using Google+.
There seems to be a lot of duplicated features now G+ has come out, such as Picasa/G+ Photos; GTalk/Messenger; Google Contacts/G+ Contacts; and these really need to be consolidated which will hopefully iron out issues such as these.

I really don't understand why they didn't turn long press on in the People App. Having to reach all the way at the top of the screen to get to "Menu" icon and then "Edit" takes a lot more effort especially when you have to edit a lot of contacts.
Anyhow. Do you guys know whether all the "linking" I made to each and every single contact to its Twitter or Google+ account will be sync'ed or backed up on Google's server? Thinking about installing custom ROM.
Does anyone know how to link contacts from within the phone (like when you have multiple contacts like with Whatsapp adding its own version of the contact)?

Hi again, just a couple of features I have noticed missing, or not found them....
First is being able to long hold a contact and send business card etc,
And the other one is deleting individual calls from call history, either in batch or long pressing.
Any one else found some features you'd expect missing or if the ones above will be included in a software update?

You can't zoom in the photo edit application, which makes it absolutely impossible to remove red eyes even though there is such a functionality. Tried it several times already, the built in flash almost always guarantees red eyes.

Ics features Missing
update which misses the core features of ICS. Still its getting rolling to many country almost 4 days gone.
Native 3G VIDEO CALL.- why we have a front camera where we cant use it for video call. Its not fair
WIFI-DIRECT- The most welcomed features. Thought its being the highend smart phone we already misses the 4.0 bluetooth which the board can support but atleast the WIFI capable direct transfer technology which most company including samsung incorporated even in GB phone and adding to these the white paper reveales that its has the technology in buit. But why its not implemented in the latest build.
Camera : Burst Mode. Many low end smartphones has that features. Why we dont have that feature. its really a pain that having spent on high end phone lacks basic functionality where a mediocre devices can perform the same functionality at a fraction of price.
I am not pin pointing or complaining. I am just esclating to the right department to notify that these core features which are missing in the XS.
Please take it as a feedback and do the needfull to the owners of XS.
Thanks
The use of wifi direct. Setting an external MP3 as a ringtone without the use of any apps or moving the MP3 to another location on the phone. In the contacts app, choosing to view only people with cellphone numbers (again, without using any other external app)
Sending sms or email to a group. I don't know why such a simple feature is absent.

Yup yup, it's a bit daft we need to install Skype or something similar. I wish Google would follow suit like other manufacturers and OEMs, and bundle a native video calling app.
Also, a BBM type thing would be nice, preinstalled, so all Android phones come with it. Group chats and the like would be pretty awesome.

The clipboard's really more for traditional "cut/copy/paste," not for managing content. That's why you'll never see clipboard as a share to or from option. Most of the stuff you clip using S Pen ends up in the Gallery. For example, a screen capture pops up a menu at the top after it's captured. If you select the "check" in the upper right corner it's automatically sent to the Gallery. You can also select "share" and you'll be given a list of places and apps it can be sent. Clipboard's great if you're amassing content by category but it's not great as a means for storing a single clip of something with the intent of sending it somewhere else.

If you pick the share option and send it somewhere you can discard what you've created without saving it. Whether you realize it or not every time you copy something while the keyboard's active it's accumulating in your clipboard. If you check it and have never emptied it I'll bet you have dozens of historical clips you've made in it. The default is pretty much "save" across the board when you're creating something unless there's a cancel or discard option presented.
