My rooted GS3 chimes randomly on its own. I do not have any alarms or notifications set for e-mail, messages, etc. It will just chime every now and then. Does anyone have any idea why this happens? I've flashed my phone several times with different ROMs from the Development forum.

This issue started when I first started using gingerbread roms, I'm currently using EF02plus but this started happening with EE03 based roms as well. The googletalk app, and I think the sms app as well, occasionally does not play its notification noise. While trying to pinpoint what exactly causes this to happen it never seemed to be very consistent. What happens is that if the gtalk app is left open with a conversation open the phone will not play the notification sound but only vibrate. Even when the screen is turned off. Meaning that if my phone is off and I never backed out of the conversation, the phone will silently vibrate. It does it the most under these circumstances but it seems to do this other times as well. My sister has an EVO with cyanogen and just to make sure I'm not crazy I tested the same thing on hers. It did indeed make the notification sound when the phone was turned off and every time i messaged her. However mine does not and many gtalk messages go unnoticed on my phone because it never played the notification. At first I thought it was Zedge messing up, so I added custom ringtones to the SD card in the appropriate folder. This issue is driving me nuts that I can't resolve it and will probably end up going to back to a Froyo rom in hopes of fixing it. Any input or idea would be greatly appreciated. This technically isn't really a "question" just hoping someone has the answer to why this is happening.
Most of my friends have android phones and we all use googletalk instead of normal texting, so its kind of a big deal that this app works. Again its not only when the conversation is left open but rather most of the time. It does however vibrate every time, just does not play the sound.
While messing with it I've noticed that when it successfully plays the ringtone it is accompanied by 1 long vibrate. But when it does not play the ringtone, the phone does a very short vibrate, stops, and then vibrates for longer. Its almost as if something interrupts it and stop it from playing the ringtone...
Edit: The interrupt delay between vibrates varies a lot. From a fraction of a second, to sometimes several seconds. And it only does this when it fails to play the ringtone. Otherwise its just one long vibrate.
In the last month or so my SMS has not been working properly. My phone doesn't send or receive all of my text messages. I will be sitting next to a friend and watch them send me a text and I will never receive it. It isn't every single text but it happens too often and is quickly becoming a big deal. It has been happening for the past month or so, which coincidentally is when I started using q Sense 3.0 rom. I have no idea if this is what caused it though. I also have problems where when my phone turns off, whether I restart it or if it dies, and I turn it back on it sends random old texts to random people.
Any insights on either of these two problems would be greatly appreciated.
Well since you said it kinda started to coincide with when you put that ROM on... try a different ROM for a while and see if it starts to work or not. That would be the first thing I would try.
Over the last few days my HOX has started to switch into vibrate mode at random times. Sometimes after a minute or so, sometimes after an hour. It's slowly driving me nuts.
Has anyone else come across this, or got any ideas on how to try and track down which app might be causing it (other than uninstalling/freezing apps at random until I find it). Is there something I could look for in the logs, for example?
I'm running on ARHD v6 ROM.
Typical. Having had this driving me crazy for days I found the cause of it within a couple of hours of posting it here. It was an app I've been using for ages called "Busy!" for timed silences that is obviously not quite compatible with ICS. Why it only started playing up this week I have no idea. Anyway, relegated to the bin and replaced by Silent Timer which seems to do the same thing.
I've been having various issues with my T999L for the last several weeks:
1) the phone will just crash without warning. This seems related to text messaging somehow, or to Handcent, as it most often happens while I am in the middle of typing a text message. However, it does happen on occasion at other times.
2) My phone will sometimes just lose the ability to send text messages. I've tried uninstalling Handcent and using the stock app but it doesn't help. Rebooting does nothing as well. I'll try to send a text and it will just spin forever. It can last anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes, after which I can send messages by deleting all pending messages and then resending them. I don't lose LTE data or the ability to make calls. only texting is affected.
Both these issues have happened on CM11 and PAC-man, so I'm not sure if my phone is somehow damaged or it's a kernel problem or what. I'm kind of hoping it's a known issue and there's a fix, but I haven't been able to find anything.

Ive had this happen a few times as well. When it starts spinning I turn on airplane mode and then once it comes on I turn it back off and usually the message will go through.
Try using a stock based rom and see if issue persists
Hello All,
I am not sure how to label my thread title. Sorry if it is not labeled correctly. I have a few questions to ask as I am experiencing issues with my watch.
I don't know if this is an update issue or a phone issue.
I recently switched carriers and switched to another phone. I originally had Sprint with a Note 4 and now I have Tmobile with a Note 4. When I use to put my phone on silent, vibrate or sound on the SprintN4, it would vibrate on my watch to show I have a new text/email. Now when I have the TmobileN4, I only get vibrate alerts on my watch when I have the sound option chosen. When on silent or vibrate, it will not alert me on my watch. This is for regular texting only. Email and others are fine. I was using GO SMS Pro as a texting app but I just changed it to Textra, either way both still have the same problem. Also the vibrate sensitivity is different now too. Only does like a short vibrate instead of a long one.
If anyone know the solutions or might experienced this before, can you please assist? I already tried factory resetting it multiple time. Still no fix.
Any information is appreciated. Thank you in advance.
