Things you should know/do before flashing this patch :
Make a nand/sd-ext backup of your ICS ROM before flashing this patch !
NativeSD installation is set to the Cm9ight ROM.. change the ROM NAME inside the install.sh (kernel folder) first if you want to use/try it on a different ICS ROM
This patch will break the native video recording capabilities (it won't start/stop)
Currently only tested on NativeSD CM9 ROMS
No sources of the kernel/libs/gpu available..
Things currently not working with this patch :
Native Video Recording (use the Videocam Illusion app included in the patch instead)
Not able to start a 720p video from within gallery.. Probably related to the libsurfaceflinger, libgui and libui which are not exchangable between roms..
One must select the 720p video from a different program (filebrowser) and choose gallery videoplayer to play the file.
Maybe more, please help me to find issues and improve it !

I think that would be great Rick.. Even better if there could be some sort of similar (universal) cm7 'patch' , since there have been reports of the 720p functionality already working on MIUI GB builds..
I suppose it's also already working on GB sense builds ?

Do you mean 720p hardware encoding for camcorder? Right?
Because 720p video playback using hardware decoding works fine for GB and Froyo.

Well I have problems playing 'Serenity – 720p “On HD DVD” Trailer' natively on my cm7 based rom..
Rick kindly showed me it was probably a limitation of our 1st gen QSD8250, however there are several reports of GB MIUI users who can play that file natively on their ROM..
i think some libs are changed in the latest qiss_me-htc-hd2-tw-02.09.21.zip

Maybe it's the same problem as I have with this ICS patch.. I need to select the video from a filesbrowser first and I have issues selecting the video directly from Gallery.. strange..

hi .. yes this is hardware decoding of 720p vids on ics roms many many thanks to the xylograph and QMA team... but the frames still drop i ve tested it its like sync with audio and video is excellent .. but it looks like video is running fast .. or not that smooth playing.. but still something is better then nothing...and i really appreciate the start thanks once again!
i really would like the flash player to be smooth as in gb ... flash does work in ics but watching videos its just sometimes hangs and is kind of rough experience!

Nope, not that easy.. one must make an updater-script which will first backup all the files that get overwritten and make an flashable .zip of it..
I know that it is possible and I've seen this functionality in a flashable 'theme' once, but I don't know what theme that was anymore.. only that it would patch around 40mb of framework files on the fly and make backups of everything.. I should have saved it somewhere back then...
Anyway... I can't make a 'universal revert patch' since most ICS roms do use different libs etc.
You should either restore your nand/sd-ext backup or unzip the patch.. overwrite it with the original files of the ROM you want to revert and flash that instead.

Since I always check the 720p Playback I can say that gingerbread runs HD mp4 video files well, but not mkv or flv files. ICS couldn't run any natively.

I will now explain the philosophy of the rom.
Its about keeping Android just... Android and nothing else. Let the user choose how to use the phone, Android is all about customising and choosing how we want to use the phone, so removing every single app that can be replaced or installed from market is just the first step.
Under the hood, this rom has all the goodies you come to expect from modern HD2 Roms, It has the tweaks but it is kept conservative, STABILITY is the primary focus, this rom is still franticly fast but any tweak or any setting that subtracts from stability is out the window.
Before posting this rom i have used the 2.6.35 kernel for two weeks using AOSP android and i can say without a doubt it is stabil, the only thing is its not 100% finished thus the camera and bluetooth issues, but at least the camera can be replaced.
Issues
Kernel Has Camera Issues, so stock camera app is no good, please install the free app called "Camera Fun" and you can take pictures again. The App has different modes, select Normal for Normal pics.
Bluetooth may or may not work for your device.
Install Instructions
First of all, use the attached 4EXT recovery and make sure your sd-ext is using EXT4, it helps with data loss prevention and speed.
Next, after booting up the first time the market is not visible in the app list until you add a google account.
First thing you need to install is "SuperUser" true to the philosophy it is not included in the system apps
After its installed root will work perfectly, and update the SU binary when you get a chance.
Please update the adfree hosts with adfree app or after the rom has been running for a few hours you will get major battery drain, the old adfree host file blocks google analytics, it keeps trying over and over and thus the battery drain.

There is no camera! You didnt mention that in the first post. I ported that rom for personal use and was able to get the camera but camcorder would force close. Do you have plans to fix the camera?

Oh sorry when my op got half deleted i forgot to put that back.
Its actually the kernel it has camera issue.
Please install the application free called camera fun but there is no camcorder support in kernel yet.
I'm going to make a dorimanx kernel pack for users to help out.
And I'll also attach the camera apk.
Ok, edited the cwm zip so it has the right file-name for modules and removed its libaudio.so since when I have changed it myself the ROM wont boot.
Try it and let me know how it goes.
Another thing, do a backup before you flash the kernel...

Here is my port. This is android 4.0.3. I hope you enjoy it! I hope it works with boot manager, because when i used gb, I had cm7 and miui and I would switch between it often. Let's hope that's possible with ics.

I notice these MiUI over aosp bases roms, and I'm curious about how this is done.
GB MiUI is not as good (read "smooth") now as it used to be, and I'm wondering if it can be put over, say, ILWT CM7, which is a flawless CM7 *for our phone* (as opposed to generic miui 100% ported to our phone).
Probably everyone is over GB MiUI for now, but if I can get this working for myself, I might post it for anyone else who is interested. ILWT MiUI sounds pretty cool to me

It is a little buggy but fast... will do a quadrant and post results
Ok I am back and I got 2289 on quadrant standard at 1536mhz.
I think that is the best I have gotten for ICS so far! If you can handle the auto rotation problem I think this is pretty fast.
Thanks to xT4Z1N4TRx the phone rotates correctly. I will update by tomorrow most likely sooner.

You are welcome! All you have to do is take the file from below and replace it with the one in System/framework. That will fix the rotation which was the reason the keyboard wasnt working so that is fixed as well! Hope you enjoy!
I might urge you to use beta 2 as it is a little bit more stable... I think.

Not too sure. If they update the roms that this is from I will. But they probobly wont and anything I release between now and then will be small. So I urge you to flash away! Hope you enjoy!

General Recommendations before and after installation :
- Backup your apps and settings with Titanium backup and do a clean installation for best performance. (wipe everything beforehand in recovery)
- Default CPU speed and governor = 245-998 Mhz Interactive. Set your favorite speed and governor in 'Performance settings' on 1st boot.
- After setting up your phone consider doing a reboot for better performance.
- If you want to use A2SD download Link2SD of the market and set it up.

If you're not going to maintain this rom does that mean we dont need to take any logcats or report any bugs to you or will all the info we have be needed by the other developers?
Just wanna know how much those who decide to take the plunge need to put this rom to its paces.

I am by no means an expert but given that tytung is currently working off an old codebase he'll probably rebase his ROM on this. And if he won't, someone else will. Anyways, bug reports will not go amiss.

Yeah but looking at the desire thread their ICS rom had more bugs than our roms prior to HWA. I thought it was more likely that once they figured out the reason they could boot this as opposed to booting the AOKP or a direct CM9 from source they would either switch to those two more reliable sources.
But oh'well, I'm bored so I'll just switch my main number to my BB and abuse this rom through the night.

Hey.. no need to start that kind of 'drama' (sorry) already on the first page m8
I said : I won't be maintaining this for very long..
You know just as well as I do.. this is gonna be ground/base material for other devs/users to build on and make different ROMS/things out of it...
I am very busy maintaining the AOKP rom (which will need HWA also at some point) and these guys from Team Kang come with updates every week at least...
Our well respected CM9 rom maintainer tytung will probably take this over at some point and I don't think we need
3 different CM9 roms floating around (although.. I won't start counting the CM7 roms for that matter )
Besides CM9/AOKP/AOSP there are a lot of other nice ICS roms around (MIUI/SENSE) that could use some ICS love
Anyway... Post your logcats please !
I won't be around much the next couple of days, but there will probably be more people around helping out ( I hope )

Go in settings> themes and set jb theme and then it will be themed, if you interest in theme (what it changes) it change wallpaper, on/off buttons, quick access menu and in all rom wont be so much blue color like it was in ics

Tethering works fine on my device, about data2sd or other scripts like that try to delete system>etc>init.d>21sdcardspeedfix

What do u use with it? Link2sd/data2sd/s2e? WFS has low memory problem. Data2sd wont work with this. Why dont U guys add a file manager? All the cm roms come without file manager. Its pretty difficult for users without internet connections in there phone. Also network connections to pc wont work. It is a lots of waste of time. Just put es file explorer or something in your rom. Its convenient.
Is it a virus or bomb? why does it says, "Your phone will explode after 3...." OOOO um sooo scared.

i don't use any data2sd scripts. I dont add file manager cuz everybody have their favorite one, like you like es file manager (me too ), another guy like miui manager, third will like other one... other user too have wi-fi tethering problem but he said that usb modem works fine.
Do I need gapps. Because syncing works for me even without gapps

Hey installed this rom today morning and restored all my apps and u've already come up with an update. Can I flash it over the previous version for the beats audio fix. And I use link2sd now, will this process break all my apps?

Backup via cwm, then wipe dalvik chace and flash. After this check if home and search buttons work

Doesn't restoring the nan backup after flashing the new version restore it to its previous version(bcas that's what the backup has in it right). Just asking outta curiosity.

Unlock your bootloader if you've not already.. Install DooMLord's recovery(CWM).. Reboot and go to CWM, wipe data, cache and dalvik cache. Go to mounts and storage and format data,cache,system.. Then flash the zip.. Reboot..

Can't you or someone else upload this Rom to MEGA.CO.NZ or somewhere else ? My download Speed on this chinese Site is so slow it says "1Day remaining"

I think you should read title threads forum, at least 2 others rom from EXR team are availables in first page. :silly:

Think definitly that something is missing : my phone is stuck at bootanim for a long time ...

Small apps zip *have to* be installed after the first rom boot. Until that it fails to boot.
No kernel installed here so if you come from a Sony based rom it may failed (I was previously on CM10.1 with kernel755 so no problem for me here).
At first look rom seems a great mix between Sony and CM stuff ! :good:

Can anyone who tried this rom write a feedback about this rom like (is it smooth?) and what is the best kernel with this rom?

This one is 100% international and had a working camera (I don't try really it but it starts and 1080p is available).

It's too short to give a freedback but it's a CM based rom so it's smooth and some stuff may not work properly : FM radio and hdmi (don't try these but it may fail).
About kernel, there're few : kernel755, raymanFX and CM10.1. I'm using kernel755 for a long time on opensemc and it worked great so I stay on it with this rom.
please host it in an another site! the download always crash!

I return to opensemc/CM-10.1 but have a backup of this rom so if I've got some time I try hdmi until I'm pretty sure it will fail cause it mainly depends on kernel.
Location doesn't seems to work : gps is fine but network location don't and some widgets/apps needs it.
If there's a kernel missing in zip file, I'll try it again cause this rom is smooth and had some good features : walkman is great, camera app is a way better than stock CM and starts quickly, small apps are funny (I don't use them); Sony launcher is present too with it's dedicated widgets (I don't like the launcher but widgets are nice, it's a pain they're only available with it).
It misses some things too : long press volume to skip track, CM themes (but systemUI and framework are pretty nice) and some others things doesn't work (but they're not in CM, maybe a Sony framework residue).
But it is definitly a good rom needing some little fixes.
