[Q]Can you downgrade to Honeycomb? - Acer Iconia Tab A100

Is it possible to downgrade to honeycomb? The only search result I found has a link to a ROM but the link is dead.

Possible but dangerous, IMO not worth the risk. Also, you do need an Acer hc rom to work with, not just any, official Acer a100 hc rom. If you don't mind me asking, why go back to hc?

Judging by his previous thread, I'm assuming it's for game testing :victory:.

Yes! Game testing, lol. Trying to see which two os will handle the most combinations of my gamestop, than attempt a dual boot setup

CM10 (JB) would be your best bet. All games which worked for me on HC, work on JB just fine.

PS I'm fine with Odin and flashing just the rooting directions from the wiki are not that specific for Android version / bb method specifics .
Thanks

this has everything you need to know
(this is the first video of qbking for ei22/el30)
No I'm meaning you need a stock modded for cwm to stick other wise it won't and once you odined the kernel you'll need to odin the cwm and you be fine look for the "epic gb kernel source with keyfix" by mkasick and scroll down to find the GB 3 a.tar which is the kernel and if you go to android development for the epic and go to the stickies or the "top" post find the [CWM] ClockworkMod 5.0.2.7 officially supported. Find the .tar to download and just follow the instructions. If you need a video search qbking77 on youtube he's very reliable

I don't care about cwm and all though. There isn't a one click root. Bat for 2.3.6 EL30?
What does recovery have to do with root. I'm my experience root comes b4 recovery.
Edit. For it nvm. Thanks guys will let u know how it goes tomorrow

Actually I'm using kerian's kernel for my ics rom..Most cdma users are. Have you tried the icx kernel? paxChristos sent me a link to it and it worked with fxp112 and I'm 95% sure I still have it..If I'm not mistaken icx will give support to us cdma users soon too, well that's what paxChristos wrote me anyway lol. How is your battery life?

CM9 is the most stable ics rom for r800x, and I believe most use the darkforest kernel. I personally use a modified cm9 along with dk kernel and it's pretty sweet
Edit: Idk about doomlord's kernels because I stay far far away from them
CM9 Nightlies, Codename Android, AOKP, and PlAyOSP are the best R800x ICS ROMs, and all run on the Darkforest v4 (v5 coming tomorrow) ICS Kernel.

Question about SBFs

I've had the defy for more than a year, but stopped using it a long time ago. I found it in my drawer and decided to get flashing. So, my question is, if I use a gingerbread(2.3.4 not 2.3.6) SBF, and I flash a rom, say jellybean on that, what would be the difference as compared to a froyo sbf? Will the rom flashed on top of the gingerbread sbf work better?

Yes, I do know that. That's why I said I'm going to use the 2.3.4 sbf not 2.3.6. My question basically was, will there be any noticeable difference GB SBF vs Froyo SBF, since I'm going to flash a custom rom on it? Also, red lens.

I dont think you will notice any mammoth difference! Once you put on a GB kernel its better if you use Quarx Defy+ builds with Defy battery fix...
Ya one main diff is one extra vsel.. GB kernel got 4vsels
BTW nice to see you from motoroladefy.com .. Got lot of help from you there when I was new to all these!

I wanted to ask if there's any performance difference Froyo vs Gingerbread SBFS if you're using the same rom, say Quarx's jb, on them.
EDIT: Thanks for the answer, pranks89. Guess it definitely is worth a try then. Also, I acquired a HD2 so I kind of stopped using my Defy. I was going through the dev threads and an awesome jb rom was enough to convince me to give it a second chance. Good to see you here too!

whay dont you say that?
this is my opinion http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29317445&postcount=19
but is about kernels froyo vs GB
There will be no difference if u flash jellybean over froyo or gingerbread sbfs
Its the same
The performance changes with kernels
So if u have a bayer lens defy (not +) MB525, i recommend u to flash an froyo sbf, Flash gb kernel, use defy + jb builds by quarx with defy battery fix
