Unknown error code during application install: "-24" installing Kindle Reader - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Unknown error code during application install: "-24" installing Kindle Reader
I just rooted and installed cm-10-20120918-0246-SNAPSHOT-otter-sgt7-linaro-strict on my wife's KF which is the exact same setup that I have but am getting that error 24 when it tries to install. I have wiped cach and dev. Can someone link me to a older version of the reader so I can try that. The only older version I seem to find are outside of XDA and don't trust them.
Edit:
The only thing I didn't do was hit factory reset in recovery. Problem is solved.

Any Idea's Yet?
I actually installed the same rom and I've had a few issues with any amazon product. Was this taken care of for you?
I installed the rom after I wiped everything, including system, however I cannot seem to get any Amazon app to install (mp3, Kindle, etc)

[Q] no more market access in Witstech A81G

Hello,
I need help for my new Witstech A81G. After I had to do factory reset and then flashing it, the following features do not work:
- when I go to market and try to download anything, the download stalls on "starting download"
- I also don't manage to sign into Google Talk.
(the two might be connected...?)
My specs:
- This is a Witstech A81G with full USB bought from Merimobiles in January
http://www.merimobiles.com/Witstech_A81G_New_Version_with_Full_USB_p/meri0544.htm
- It says model number MID, Android version 2.2, Kernel 2.6.32 Android MID #290, Build number MID-eng 2.2 JIEVIS eng.MID.20101124.105136 test-keys
- I have a 16GB mini SD card
- I am using it over wifi
- otherwise I am on W7 64 bits.
- Myself am quite computer proficient, but this is first time I use android.
The history how things happened (it is about 3 weeks I am fighting with it):
1> Started all fine
I got the device and it was working fine. I have set up wifi, my Google account, and checked apps.
I performed the "Witstech A81E Market full access fixed" proposed by Merimobiles, clearing cache and data, and got the Market working fully.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l-nySibzeA
Then I installed few more apps, including App 2SD free, that let me move apps to my sd card.
Everything was fine, except I also installed apps for kids and let my son use it.
2> Factory reset
My son badly messed up and I could not understand much how to fiw what he did. So I thought I rather do a factory reset from the tablet, and I did (settings/privacy). This is when the trouble started.
After that, I did the market fix again, and could see all apps... but never could download any.
3> Flashing the A81
I went one step further and flashed the device, following instructions from Gadgets and tablets (http://www.gadgetsandtablets.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=33)and using Android 2.2-1208 Firmware they propose (http://www.gadgetsandtablets.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=16).
I backed up the apps I had into my PC. I used another 8GB sd card and formatted it FAT 32 using HP formatting tool (that is only difference with the described process, they say 1GB and FAT), copied the mlo file to my SD card and then other files, and flashed it into the A81G: the flash worked. I had to do recalibration, reset wifi and google accounts.
And again, no download in Market.
4> Several variation attempts
I tried different things:
- flashed again and tried another Google account
- installed WitsSetup.apk proposed by the same forum, that is supposed to optimize the device to the firmware or opposite
http://www.gadgetsandtablets.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=33
- installed z4root
In any case, and even without trying the "market access fix", I can not downlaod anything from Market.
Also, in the course of these attempts I realized my Talk does not work (I did not try before).
5> More aborted attempts
Browsing around, I realize this might be because of a wrong ID suggesting this device could not work with Market. (although it should, even in limited mode, as it didout of the factory!)
I also have on my PC a backup of froyo.zip which I think is the one originally installed. I tried to copy / paste it into android system, of course did not work.
So I would like to try the more complicate fix (changing ID) as proposed here for example
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687371
But I run into 2 difficulties:
a> using the emulator: I don't have any keyboard access so can't type in
b> I installed Android SDK manager on my PC in order to run ADB. I installed Android SDK tools revision 9, android SDK platform tools revision 2, Google USB driver package revision 4. W>hen I connect it, I now see in my device manager under "other devices" a "A81E" with no drivers - and it does not find drivers neither in the above package nor on the web.
So I am blocked again.
6> What more?
Well... i pray for help, because without any apps this device is just useless.
I would like to manage::
- either fix market & google talk access
- or somehow retsore factory set uyp the way it was - with market access (even limited).
Note that I am with limited capacities, since:
- I dont have many programmes on and can't download anything from Market (though I have the backup of few Witstech original appps)
- I can't type into the emulator nor got ADB to work.
I hope you can support me or this device will be thrown through the window without even beeing used 1 full week.
Thanks

Hi, you seem to have tried everthing except using the firmware from the official Witstech web site?
This might be worth a try.
Go to http://www.witstech.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1#post1 & download the correct format tool hpusbfw.rar. Format your sd card to FAT
Then go to http://witstech.net/download.html & down load the correct firmware for your tablet. Follow the correct proceedure to flash the device. Best of luck.
Maybe the MarketEnabler would help? Google said before use the market, user should login the Gtalk once.
better follow #2 suggestions, reflash the official firmware

CyanogenMod Gapps

Hey there.
I just flashed CM7 RC2 via Clockworkmod Recovery 2.5.07 and everything worked out. (wiped Data, Cache & Dalvik).
I noticed that all of the Google Apps were missing so i rebooted the Phone. Now at least the Market showed up. After setting up my google account a prompt showed up which asked which Google Apps i want do download (via Market).
I had no Wifi COnnection so i skipped the installation. Afterwards i downloaded the newest gapps.zip from cyangogenwiki and flashed it via Recovery but the Google Apps such as Maps, Gmail etc wont show up in the App Drawer.
Any ideas?
(excuse my poor english. hope you got what i was trying to say)
hmm, i guess i got it all wrong. The gapps.zip ist just the core librarie so the market is able to work. And the mentioned prompt should be doin the rest.
for me (Germany) Gmail wont be installed so i switched back to GingerVillain 1.6
Sad that there was no reply at all...
... , as I got the same problem about 1 year and 2 weeks later.
I am writing here to this old thread because - likely - somebody else will have the problem and shall get an idea on what is causing it (and maybe find the solution here) ...
and as the forum is abused as a documentation tool and not as a communication tool and stuff is not written into the wiki (which is indeed a documentation tool...)
The actual situation is (from my maybe faulty understanding) that the GApps-Packages only contain those apps/libs which cannot be aquired by download from Google Market/Play Store.
Your and my problem is, that we are not allowed to download GMail from the Market/Play Store because of:
This item cannot be installed in your device's country

(exact quote cut out of the market's html code).
I will try to post information as I get it on how to solve this. Most likely a german Android forum will contain a solution to this obstacle.

[Q] Simple CM9 issues!

Okay so,
I feel like this one's on the medium level of emergency here,
The issue is I flashed my cache, dalvick, factory reset, and (not sure) system to install Simple CM9, everything rolled along nicely except......
After booting into my promising new life, I noticed several issues:
KFU no longer recognized it, though the drivers still read "Android ADB Interface" in my computer
Google Apps would not sync my data, but still allows me to download apps from the play store
The sd Card partition no longer is shown by the OS, but still shows up when connected with usb (i'll be downloading a file manager soon, so this may answer itself to whether or not I can still access it)
TWRP will not boot by means of pressing the power button during initial boot
I understand I could solve my GAPPS sync problem by flashing them, and all my other problems wouldn't matter then. but I still have no means to flash'em.
Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated!
-a lowly noob
P.S. Everything about the ROM is fantastic except for those issues, (which are probably my fault) so many thanks on that end
P.P.S. (I do have a nandroid of my stock os before I wiped so If all else fails I can just go back to that if TWRP can be accessed and start over)
I seen a similar issue earlier and the guy fixed it by reinstalling the twrp
but u can always try going to reboot and select recovery and see if that works
gracci
That's a step in the right direction, thank you
no problem glad I could help

[Q] Package File Signature Error help

Hello my name is Sean and I have recently rooted my phone (captivate glide) and installed a custom ROM. Whenever I try to update apps like the AT&T Code Scanner, Qik Video Lite, Andoid Keyboard, or even Google Play itself I receive this error message:
"Package file was not signed correctly. Uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again."
Also when I run certain apps like Spot Hero or Clash of Clans I get the following message:
"Google Play services, which some of your applications rely on, is not supported by your device. Please contact the manufacturer for assistance."
I have searched the forums and found a few instances with similar problems, but the issue was either never resolved or didn't match the problem I was experiencing. I've Googled the problem and a few folks suggested using Titanium Back Up to uninstall the app in question and then re-install, but I have read some users say that they are then unable to re-install the app. I don't want to lose any functionality, so I haven't tried that.
Here is a step-by-step of what I did to my phone:
1) Shutdown my phone and rebooted into download mode with Odin 3.04 running
2) Flash CLOCKWORK MOD RECOVERY 6.0.1.2 (found here)
3) Reboot in download mode
4) Flash stock ICS ROM (found here)
5) Flash Superuser 3.2-RC3-arm-signed.zip (following the instructions found here)
5) Flash GApps.zip for 4.0.4 (found here)
6) Reboot and the phone says it's upgrading Android and optimizing applications
7) Once the phone is booted up and the SD card is done scanning I run into the problem described above
Has anyone encountered this problem before? If so, please share your insights.
Thanks for reading and if you have any suggestions I would welcome the help.
hello
i remember i had same problem when i was using ics, i think you shoulr flash anotherics gapps from diferent source. I do not remember where i downloaded mine
I tried some different gapps and I got some apps like Hangouts to update, but now I receive this message when I try to install Google Play Services:
"Incompatible with other application(s) using the same shared user ID."
I did some further looking into this and found that if I wiped my /system data and reflashed my gapps.zipp that seems to work. I installed Youtube first (since it requires Google Play Services) and that took care of everything.
Unfortunately I have lost any progress I may have made in my game apps and have to download/update everything from scratch and reset my ring tones and such, but at least I have a fully functional, rooted phone.
Actually I take that back. Google Play Services seems to be cooperating, but now I'm getting the package file signature problem again.
I resolved the issue by starting over and following Rawr0w0's guide half way down this thread.

Conflicts with already installed package. APK wont install on ATOTO A6.

I have an ATOTO A6 headunit and its awesome minus I cannot install my patched version of Pandora. (Mainly for the DL feature)
The radio came with Pandora pre-installed. I have uninstalled the app, cannot find it in app directory.
I did notice when I uninstalled from Google Play (just trying different uninstall approaches) it asked to remove Updates and Restore to Factory Version.
The options were either OK or CANCEL so I chose OK - assuming this is what is causing the issue, however unsure how to move forward.
I have attached an image of the install error I am getting. I used SAI Installer to get a more descriptive reason, the basic error was "App Not Installed."
I have turned off Google Play Protect, Enabled Unknown Sources, Cleared Cache, Factory Reset, Tried Various APK Installer apps, really cant figure this one out.
If all possible I am trying to avoid changing anything to the device unless rooting is simple process.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again!!
