I just want to why it isn't compatible.?
I was tweaking with my device dpi and set it to 270
Is that why it isn't compatible?
Could someone tell me how I can make it work?
Also what's the normal dpi setting.
I forgot what it was lol

Yes that's why its not compatible I did the same thing . Set it to 320

DPI effects many apps to make them incompatible. I would just stick with 320.
Most of the time when play store says an app is incompatible.I just get it elsewhere and works fine. Most games don't run on what DPI your phones on.they use native to the app. Only forums and other apps work with your DPI. Ive played mine craft with my phone on 240 DPI

Why don't you just use Paranoid Android? I've got most apps at 240dpi and play Minecraft all the time.

HEy,
So, I searched and read and I really like the tablet mode tweak.
I tried the paranoid rom and the rom itself is great, but for me its pretty slow and just doenst work pretty well. Needs some more dev imo, but its on a great way.
However I'm back to aokp m5 with trinity kernel wich just runs awesome.
And I'm asking myself if I could just go with the tablet mode hack and aokp m5?
Will this work out? Or will I experience a lot of issues with that?
Or is it maybe even possible to just get that statusbar? I like the menus but I would be pleased if I could just get that statusbar.
Sorry if this questions may sound stupid ;/
Im glad for any help.
Regards
All you have to do is change your dpi to 192 and fine a modded phone apk. In run every aokp on table mode with absolutely no issues. I just can't use my phone in "phone" mode after using tablet mode.

Well, what about the gapps ? YouTube and browser would not be the same as tablet version ( need to flash modded gapps also ?)
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Gapps get modified to tablet mode. Another thing u will need is Nova launcher and the modded market that shows ur dpi as the stock one. That way all the apps are available to you.

I'm gonna have a look into this. Will try using the official CM9 as a test base
EDIT: Just had a better look. Its a bit beyond me :S
I'd suggest getting a dev to look into it

Heres a complete Xperia NEO/NEO V port
How easy would this be to port?
Its the best ROM ever! You can have the entire tablet mode UI or entire phone UI or a bit of this a bit of that. You can make an app run in tab mode if it supports that, for example, chrome, I use it in tablet mode and its awesome. Per app density is another feature. You can control what density should the app run in.. its just plain amazing!

lol, someone just ported it. Its great, thanks sechko!
I've been running at 206 as I prefer the way things look, however, I recognize most apps work best with either stock, or 160.
Has anyone discovered a setting other than 240 or 160 that also provides excellent compatibility?
Thanks!

I usually use 190 because it has been my experience that is doesn't mess with the applications quite as much as other levels.

I used to run at 200, basically so the status bar isn't tiny but still gives me more space.
Speaking of, anyone know how i can change DPI in a TW ROM?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
When I'm running anything other than a tabUI modded build, I run at 190. But I honestly like the tabUI more than anything and I try and run 128 as much as possible..
Whenever there is an update for an app that won't show in that dpi, I'll just change back to 240, update and change back..

He sets it to 128 so tablet mode is initiated. Its small, but you can change the font size. Check out tablet UI mode. I think its in themes and apps. Its pretty sweet. You also may want to check out paranoid android.

i use 161 on aokp milestone 6, because 160 makes allot of apps layouts look like crap, like google currents

Just curious if any has been able to lower their dpi on this phone? If so, on what rom and was it done manually or with app?
I always love to make things as small as possible to get more screen size and have typically (in the past) used a great program LCD Density Modder Pro to do so.
When I first got the phone I did successfully use it once to do so but since then after many rom changes and mods I can't do it anymore. It goes through but after reboot it never makes it back to is and hangs. Would love to be able to do so.
If you do so please let me know how?
Thanks

Rom toolbox pro best app out there for any rom changes
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Definitely Rom Toolbox Pro. I used to use LCD Density Modder Pro too. I current set my screen to either 220 or 240. Running 220 now with not too many issues. If you are on ICS, you will need a different dialer program such as exDialer. If you are on Jellybean, the stock dialer works just fine, though you will see some overlap issue in the recent calls list at 220.
ROM toolbox. The lite version works fine for DPI changes. Make sure you back up first.
I'm using 280.
Manually edit it. Open build.prop in your system folder. Go 20 or 30 lines down and you'll see:
ro.sf.lcd_density=320
Change 320 to whatever. Don't go too low or too high. It technically will boot but screen won't be visible. I don't know what too high or too low is. I run at 280. Lowest I've been

I was just going to ask the same thing. In the past changing the dpi would cause compatibility issues in the market but Density Modder Pro had the fix built in and it worked great. It also allowed for testing changed settings first.
Is it just not supported on this phone anymore? Does Rom Toolbox have a market fix or a test first?

Looks pretty messed up at 280 with touchwiz
Don't use lcd_density modder pro to change dpi. Just use it for the market fix.

Oh so I can still use density modder pro for the fix!?.. that's awesome if so. So just changing dpi manually is recommended? Or with rom toolbox as well? And then use modder pro for market fix?
And on this phone (north American S3) what's the lowest (successful) dpi it can operate at?
Thanks to anyone who can answer these.

You got it! As far as lowest dpi. I've went as low as 250 with no problem. But have heard numbers as low as 220.

I used ROM Toolbox Lite for the change, then LCD Density Modder Pro for market fix.
I reccomend Apex launcher which works well at other DPIs.
Hi...i just want to know which is the best Note II 240 DPI ROM? or it doesent have to be 240 dpi...anything lower than 320 will be ok.
THANKS
Well 240 is supported by the Play Store.
Unless you are using a PA based ROM with Hybrid, then you could set the apps to anything and just the Play Store to 240.

My favourite multi dpi ROM is Moon ROM.

Xposed Framework is less accessible than Hybdrid Settings for newbies I think but it works great you're right
i think you dont understand me...i am looking for entire ROM based on 240 or 280 DPI so i dont have to mess with xposed or something like that a flas keyboard etc...Like there is a Slim Bean ROM its based on 240 DPI and thats it..
Edit the build.prop and set the LCD density to 240, save, and reboot.

Yes that's why I suggested Slim beans as it already comes default at 240-241DP. If you want a stock based ROM then check into Alliance ROM or Phoenix, I'm not saying they come default 240, but they've been modified to support 240 DPI so you would not encounter any issues with the layouts. Personally, I think with xposed installer readily available most developers would rather keep their roms at default 320dpi unless it was a port from a tablet.
