New version for CWM? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Do someone know how to update cwm v6 from v5? B/c I want to see what CM10 look like and mostly of the time, it said installation fail or something...

How did you install v5? I would assume you can repeat the process to flash v6 in its place.

you can use rom manager

i had the same problem other day
cm-10-*.* = CyanogenMod 10 Rom
gapps-jb-20120726-signed = All the google apps not included in the rom
recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.2-d2att = Cwm
Install
1. Install ClockworkMod Recovery for "d2att".
to do this install "Android Terminal Emulator" from the market "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jackpal.androidterm&hl=en&rdid=jackpal.androidterm&rdot=1"
Put the file in the sd directory of your phone, not on the card, and rename it "recovery.img" from recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.2-d2att.img
Open Terminal Emulator and run the following commands one after another:
su
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
then boot to cwm and install cm10-*.*
then install gapps-jb (google apps)

Mange to got it works! Made to v6 from v5. Thanks guys for the tip! Also, @smelenchuk, I believe that I found the v5 one from team epic.

Darktremor A2SD on latest AOKP JB ROM

Hey guys
I've been playing around with the latest Jellaxy AOKP release 23/9-12 and trying to get DT a2sd to work on it - without luck!! I've tried everything!!
I am able to flash the zip file in CWM recovery, but the script doesn't seem to be installed. Then I tried installing it via Script Manager, and running the install.sh script - also no luck!! The script worked fine on previous two ROMs I had installed, so I just don't get it!
This time, either way I try, I get one of the following errors; when trying to install the latest version 2,7 beta5 in recovery it just refuses to install, saying something about amend scripting not being used, and to create a flashable zip with edify scripting (or something like that - didn't understand a word of it!! ) And if I install (succesfully) the 2.7.5.3 beta 04 version, every command I try in terminal emulator gives a segmentation fault message, and then I'm back to square 1 again... Even the GUI app for a2sd doesn't recognize the script as being installed..?!
Is the DT a2sd script just unable to work with AOKP JB ROMs, or am I doing something wrong here..?!
Tnx in advance.
- H
I feel as if all the effort of aokp
is to run one or two apps and then your dead out of memory.....
no a2sd really working and through gio is a thing of the past
no one cares about a2sd really.

Very glad with the work done
But sometimes a pusher for results( nothing bad intended)

[Q] ADB & Rooting to load clockwork mod

Hi,
I'm following the tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
I am on the 3rd option and am trying to load the latest clockworkmod on my GS3, I have it downloaded, but it is an .img file.
The tutorial says:
if you download this recovery you will need to extract this file (if you have issues extracting try removing the .md5 extension first) to get a recovery.img file and copy to your phone's internal /sdcard
connect your phone to computer and use adb
type adb shell
once in the shell run su
then
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
Can someone please explain this in more detail? I am looking for links to the ADB program I need as-well as how to use it to apply those commands.
Also I am having a hit-or-miss issues with Windows reading my phone as an external device, the phone reads as an established MTP connection but Windows sometimes reads it, or does not. What am I doing wrong here?
Thank you.
Info:
Phone: Samsung-SGH-I747
Carrier: AT&T
Andriod Version: 4.1.1
OS: Windows 8 64Bit
Samsung Software: Kies 2.5.0.12114_1
Here is how I done it. It's in a zip file if you already have the non-touch version installed. All you need to do with this is install from SD from CWM recovery. None of the adb stuff has to be messed with. 7th post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877761
Edit: This was on down in the post you quoted. If you don't have any CWM recovery installed, then do the below, then install the above touch version zip from sd in CWM recovery.
Third, alternate #3 if unfamiliar with adb commands and uncomfortable using any command line
Decide if you want to use TWRP or CWM.
If you would like to install ClockworkMod recovery then grab Rom Manager from the Play store and in the menu select to install ClockworkMod Recovery.
I am no expert by any means but you have to run those commands in the command prompt (DOS) system. Hit the start menu and find the run and type in cmd and that will open up command line or it should be in the Accessories folder as well.
If Windows sometimes doesn't recognize your phone I would uninstall and re install the drivers to see if that helps.
I have a heck of a time to get ADB and everything working when I first started so I know how you feel. Just keep reading the forums and everything and you will get it to work.

Currently my phone has NO clockwork Mod installed, I am wanting to install the latest version ( recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.2-d2att ) I have this file in .img format, I am trying to figure out how to install it on my phone -- the tutorial says add it to your sdcard, I have done that, then it says connect to your phone and use ADB commands, that is the part where I need more information, also do I wipe cache/reset settings/dalvick cache during any of this process? Should my phone be in download mode when doing ADB commands or what specifically is where I do not understand.
I would like to understand the process more in-depth and ADB as well - opposed to going the RomManager route, from my research it seems that updates/versions are available first with that method.
Thanks

He gave you the link to the play store app in the post. It's android terminal emulator..type terminal emulator in play store its the top app.
I just merely gave you a second option which I did and functioned flawlessly. Grab Rom Manager from the play store and select the top option to flash CWM Recovery. It will ask you your phone type and carrier and then will give you the option to install it. Easier than the whole adb thing.
Ok that route did work, thanks.
Now I installed the latest CM10 Nightly - cm-10-20121206-NIGHTLY-d2att
And then rebooted and installed the latest Gapps - gapps-jb-20121011-signed
It does not seem that any of the google apps are in my apps
Also the Play Store no longer works....just "Connection Timed Out"
Specifically I am looking to use Google Now/G-Mail/Drive/Voice/etc...
Did I do something wrong? CWM said the Gapps installed successfully. Was I supposed to wipe cache somewhere?
Thanks for the help.

I have not noticed that. I used the same Gapps file to do mine and everything worked fine on I believe the 11-30 NIGHTLY, no wiping that I remember. Now this was before I got on Official JB, was still back on stock ICS. Haven't flashed CM since upgrading. I will after today as battery life sucks on the Official, if it does the same to me I will let you know.
Touch version of CWM is pretty sweet, no accidental clicks too far with the volume keys, works right from your screen. That was the link in the first post I gave you. Download it to your SD, go into recovery and install it from SD.
Looks like mine had no problems with the gapps 11-30 nightly coming from LK3. Haven't got around to downloading the latest nightly yet. Will do today. Let me know if you got it resolved.

Thanks I wasn't sure
I installed the new image file using Install Open Recovery Script but now I have two image files in the goomanager directory. One is for the older recovery and the other is for 2.3.3.3.0. When I reboot into recovery it goes into the old recovery. Is it ok to delete the image file for the old recovery? I won't do any harm in doing this?
Following these instructions would be the easiest way to avoid any damage or trouble
1. http:// teamw . in/ project / twrp2 /101
2. Download the .img file for your phone and save it on your computer.
3. Rename the .img file to recovery.img and save it to your internal sd card of your phone. For example: recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.4-hercules.img ------> recovery.img
4. Open up Terminal Emulator on your phone and type the following 2 commands:
su
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p22
(please note the second command is a one line command with spaces between "dd & if=" and ".img & of=")
If your Rom identifies your internal sdcard as /emmc instead of /sdcard, then make the adjustment to command line (dd if=/emmc/recovery.img) instead of what is posted above.
(i cant do direct links sorry)

How do I install a .IMG file (the CWM recovery download file) onto the S4? There is no FASTBOOT mode (or I can't access it for some reason).
Yes, I know I can use rom manager to install CWM, but that isn't my question.
I can confirm - it does work.
Thanks for the quick posting of this!
Oh boy! i'm getting my S4 sooner then i thought now lol. Monday? i sure hope so if not i'll have to wait til the weekend i think but oh man, CM10.1 here we come
Nice recovery I downloaded rom manager and installed the touch recovery and it's very good but the only problem is that the space between the text is really close to each other I mean you have a really big screen and it only uses less than a third u know what I mean? Just saying so far I like it but that's the only thing I find annoying

Exactly the problem I am having. I am wondering if R.M. is installing the proper version of touch. It's almost impossible to use. It also doesn't support gestures which makes it more difficult.

if you use adb sehll then be sure to follow these commands as well:
adb shell
su
then once in a rooted shell (or terminal emulator) be sure you know the exact location and name of clockworkmod recovery.img
dd if=/sdcard/cwmrecovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm.sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
replace the bold part with the name of the file
replace teh underlined with where it is located

Guys please don't repost it as your own work, otherwise I'll report it and you will get banned from XDA.
NOTE: If you have previously used the old EXE to install TWRP then please remove the old folders by using these instructions using cmd before using updated exe to install TWRP;
1.
Code:
adb shell
2.
Code:
su
3.
Code:
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock11 /system
4.
Code:
rm -R /system/bootmenu
Then use the updated exe to install TWRP.
NOTE: If you don't like TWRP, you can download Guitwo2's Permanent CWM at http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1875373&d=1365682716
Temporary CWM Recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1875299&d=1365680458
2nd-init does NOT work in CWM Recovery
Thanks to @Guitwo2 for CWM Recovery.
Instructions on how to install Permanent CWM Recovery:
1. Make sure stericson-busybox is installed
2. Put XT320_bootmenuV2.zip in the root of your sdcard
3. Reboot into fastboot mode by typing this command in cmd:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
4. Then type this command in cmd:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
5. Then use volume keys to navigate and power button to select option. Select install zip from sdcard, then select XT320_bootmenuV2.zip and select yes to install the zip file
6. Then reboot device by selecting reboot device now.
CWM 6 has a bug where it asks you to 'disable recovery flash' when you select reboot system now make sure you select NO or you will soft brick your device.
Changelog:
-v2 No need to mount /sdcard in CWM Recovery. Fixed TWRP installation issues.
-v2.0.1 Released an .exe version of script, to simplify installation
-v2.0.1.1 Fixed bootmenu.zip

The root process worked for me. Now i can install link2sd and set up a swap partition.

Ok, I've made a fixed script here. The error was that the sdcard is a directory so it will refuse to push files into it.
Here's the updated script below. Just put the .bat file in the same place as the other files.

Looks like 97bootmenu deleted itself, please reinstall the CWM zip again and it should work.
