Hello.
Does anyone have a problem with battery life?
I got my new htc one x last week and rooted it 2 days ago.
The rom that i installed is InsertCoin v6.4.5 and also installed franco kernel r9.
I really like the combination of these two except battery life. I have been using a lot of android phones and never have a experience like this before.
Battery just drains quickly. It droped from 100% to 60% in 2 hours. Im not a heavy user and didnt install many apps or any games. I can see that it doesnt drain much when its off but when im using it, i feel like battery decreses 1% every 2 minutes.
I installed rom - more than 3 times - when the battery was charged 100% and im not using any task killer or battery saver etc. Moreover, battery life was fine before i rooted HOX.
Is it only me having this problem?

There can be many reasons for your battery drain ranging from weak phone signal to power consuming apps running. I would suggest to use something like BetterBatteryStats apps to see what's draining your battery.
With energy rom and franco r9, I am getting 12-24 hours depending on usage.

Couldnt figure out with betterbatterystats apps. There is nothing suspicious thing. Well.. i have probably a bad luck with InsertCoin rom. I will try Android Revolution HD + stock kernel.

mate if u read thoroughly through francos thread, u will realize that the kernel needs time to settle. atleast 2 days with 2 full charges. yes, u will have abnormal battery drain at first, especially that u flashed both rom and kernel. just give give 2 days or 3 and u will notice the difference. hope this helps.

So thats what people say 'stablize'
I saw people mention that but i thought my case was completely different. Cuz its been 2 days since i installed insertcoin+franco.kernel.
Thank you. I will give another try then.
Full charge? i tried googling how to full charge mobile phone but couldnt find it. Is there any special way to full charge?
One thing that one should always do after installing a custom ROM is to wipe the battery statistics.
Simply go to the recovery, then to the advanced menu and wipe 'Battery Stats' from there.
This solves a lot of battery related problems for a lot of people.

Battery says are wiped when you get close to 100% charge, and hold the stats you see in the power options. Has no effect on battery life.
I noticed on the pkmn rom I had bad battery drain for no reason but on leedroid I had none.
I had nothing installed and no wake locks but I could watch the % drop like a stone.
Try going back to stock kernel first see if that works. If not try a different rom.

Me to experience battery drain at first time when flashing charmeleon. As i love the tweaks over there i can't switch the rom. So i just reflashed it.
Let me say how i did again and there is no battery drain after that.
1)Erasche cache manually(fastboot erase cache)
2)Use charmeleon boot.img flasher v5.0.0
3)Then again erase cache manually (fastboot erase cache)
4)Then goto recovery and factory reset, erase cache and dalvik cache, wipe battery stats.
5)Then installed rom with full wipe and there is no battery drain after that.
Guys try this method. You will get no battery drain.

Thx man! Worked for me
I give up.every ROM I run just doesn't have the battery life expected. Am I expecting to much? Not even Cauks or blazer el29 doesn't give the battery life as stock.don't get me wrong they are all great roms but at least for my device not battery friendly. I'll post some battery stats from BBS if anybody has some free time to see what's going on. I'm on Cauks el29 now.I format everything before flashing and I use cauks format all many times. I'm on the verge of staying on stock roll my eyes.

Well when is the last time you used stock? And if it's been quite a while...consider having your battery checked out. Anyway, I'll continue as if your battery is fine from here on out. Basically, anything but stock tends to have a modified kernel. Even with all the battery tweaks, etc out there, there's a chance that the kernel itself might not play well with your phone. I'm not too versed in that, but I also noticed that the TouchWiz based ICS kernels/ROMs give MUCH better battery life than AOSP based kernels/ROMs such as CM9 and AOKP, etc. This is just basic stuff you might already know, but yeah, just go on and post your battery stats, preferably with a custom rom and a stock rom so we can see the difference and where it lies. Also, I'm running Touched by a Galaxy S3 on my phone and with moderate use (music for maybe a few hours a day, texting, don't really make many calls) I average between 8.5 and 11 hours from 100 to 0. Another thing I'd suggest is download CPU Spy from the Android market, or something similar if you prefer, and post screenshots from that on the custom ROM; the problem with AOSP and certain other GB and TW ICS roms that i've seen is that something prevents the processor from going into deep sleep mode, usually keeping it at 200mhz or higher. Lastly, when you use the custom roms, do you notice the phone getting really hot compared to the stock roms?
I'm assuming you know this but are you letting the battery cycle a few times before passing judgement? I usually spend a week on a rom before I decide if I have good/bad battery life... attached screenie is normal for me with moderate use on mijjhs goodness rom

I always had faster battery drains on ROMs than stock. I see all this awesome battery stats screenshots but noticed they all share one common factor, only 1hrs to 30min screen use. Come on guys why I would want that battery life if to get it I have to barely use the phone makes no sense to me.
"hey look my awesome battery life, 1d 25min" (35min) screen time" pffffftttt :what:
Sorry for the rant. Had to let it go outside.

Agree, everyone have different experiences, I haven't try that ROM yet, I will test it out later. Have a nice day/night sir.
Sadly I have to agree with OP.
And the previous screenshots at 59% with 1hr, 36 screen on is exactly the issue.
Hard to compare your battery stats with mine since screen on time for my phone will be 4+ hours.
Since there are no standardized testing anyone can do with any rom, any speculation on which rom has better battery life or doesn't is just pure bogus seat of the pants gut feelings.
If there were a standard test that ran like. 5 minutes of mail with 20 mails received, 10 minutes download, 30 mins of playing the exact same video, 13 music tracks of the exact same song all with screen, vibration, brightness, etc all at the exact same level, you could get a real test, but, alas, nobody has a standardized test.
For MY usage, stock clocks in at the same as or better than just about any other rom I've tried, including all the various super scripts out there.
I guess I just overuse my phone!

Things drain battery. This is my test off wifi for the most part using the phone as a phone with average use. Didn't even log in to Google on this one. Just proof that intensive applications, google services, and anything else added after a "factory flash" can manipulate battery life significantly.
Oh, and check out drain when I'm in less than ideal coverage. Noticeable difference. One huge factor to consider when diagnosing battery life.
It really depends on what you're doing with the phone. Obviously having brightness up playing heavy games with Wimax on will kill battery faster than someone on low brightness reading an ebook with wifi on. That said, i agree that I've had better battery life stock than almost all ics roms.

For me its KA21 with Arcknight 3.3 Stock Kernel.
Really smooth, better battery than i experienced stockwise...
try ICS_anzu_KTG tuned_V1.41: governor interactiv
actually battery drain more depends on the kernels..for best battery life stock kernel is the best
Guys note that lad has Pro not Arc. Stock is usually the worst, or better - default gauge for custom ROMs. I've been watching cyanogenmod discussion for a while, usually users feedback on battery life varied from version to version; for tweaked versions can be said that battery life is the same as in stock while the performance is 20% better. I don't know about MIUI.
(Out of your question, the best for battery life are Ultima ROM and Buttermilk ROM which are optimized for battery life and battery life is notably better there; with Buttermilk and low usage you can do as much as 4 days without charging - worth for outdoor trips. Ultima ROM when idle eats like 0,6% per hour.)
Stock rom with stock kernal had the best battery life... but also lags the most.
I recomend arconium ICS with stock kernal for a balaced experiance...!!!

well my method of testing battery drain(i guess everybody tests the same way) is only on standby..how much time does it take to move 1% down when the phone is not touched for an hr or 2...in exceptional cases battery will drain fast while using 3G in one kernel but lil slow on other kernel..
again my point is kernel is more responsible for battery life of the phone rather than a ROM..

Then you need to take syncing into account, if yours is on and mine is off on the same kernel then yours may drian a bit quicker than mine, which goes back to my point of how a user uses their Phone. I don't think it's a black and white issue.

yea dude.. i get it..my point was simple..people were talking about best roms for battery life.. i just said kernel plays an important role in deciding that..that was my only point..i wasnt arguing with anyone..and testing of battery drain at standby means with data off, bluetooth off, gps off..hence syncing of account wont come into picture
I'm not arguing, just trying to make a point also.

Yes I know and sorry, the last two ROMs I was refering to are GB. However, Riyal is working on Ultima ICS ROM and it already exists in alpha version! See this post with download link Hopefully the ROM will have similar advantages as has GB Ultima ROM over GB stock ROM, which means better battery life, better wi-fi reception, improved camera and so on.

I did that when I had iPhone 4.
im using cm7.2 latest release alvays, i also have an app set cpu and i set my governor to scary, min freq 145 mhz, and max 1024, and im using profiles for apps that im using most of time (underclock cpu while using that apps)
with that i have at least 40% better battery life
and, yes, u can downgrade using flashtool

So far Arcknight kernel has quite the reputation for good battery life. IMO, for roms i find CM9 from FreeXperia project quite awesome but then there's an issue with the battery stats and brightness for now so wait for the next release i guess. for GB try arconium 8.2. still mostly its based on kernel and also the governor.

Only 50 minutes? I don't think that is normal. I don't think either it's a problem with a rom. even if you play a lot and on the internet the total time should be more than 50 minutes I believe. I think your battery just died. And if that is the case, not even a rom with a thousands tweaks will get more time than you already have

Arcos CM9 RC2 or RC3 with it´s 2.6.35 kernel is still the best ROM for battery life. The older Slimbeam ROM with the same kernel is told to be as good as Arcos ones. Finally you can also use a customized 2.6.35 kernel with undervolting options to extend your battery life, but like ilusi0n already said there is something wrong with your phone or battery if it only lasts for 50 minutes. My battery lasts for 3-5 days under normal use.

Have you try it? Aroma is only installer, not an app and ac!d doesn't use lots of battery.. personally i try it and battery life is awesome

Wildchild has always given me nice battery back up. If you prefer ICS, then James Super-ROM has given better battery than any ICS . djolivier's Droid Ace is also a Cool Rom to hang out with .
Try jelly king v2 or use cpu frills controller and set maximum frequency to 200
feel free to press thanx button
