Anyone got a Matte screen protector ?.

If so does it do a good job with the light glare and make fingerprints less noticeable ?.

I have a matte screen protector on my Xoom and it does cut down on finger prints, glare and it makes it easier to slide my finger over the screen

I use a steinheil antiglare matte screen protector. Love it. Great at resisting fingerprints. Reduces reflections alot. And just as important,as mentioned by player-x, is how your finger slides much easier on the screen. Great when playing games. It feels really good under the finger

Got this one from Amazon. It's definitely better than the shiny screen it comes with, and it cuts down on fingerprints, though there's still fingerprints. It feels much nicer on the fingers. The one downside to this type of screen protector is that it's difficult to get it on perfectly straight. This one is cut almost perfectly to fit the Xoom screen, but that means there's very little room for error. I thought I had mine on straight, but the edge is just a hair over the raised part of the bezel and now there's about a 1cm bubble on the edge. Can't retry though, once it's on, it's on...

Slack, are you sure you can't use parcel tape to raise the screen protector without damaging it? Stick the tape to the corner of the screen protector with a flap of the tape sticking off the edge of the screen, then pull up on the tape and the screen protector should come with it allowing you to reposition. Like others, I'm using the Steinheil, and it's pretty damn good. Difficult to apply though (see the thread devoted to the Steinheil for help on this front).
Fingerprints are barely noticeable and glare is eliminated. I still have to wipe it down about once a week, but that's a lot better than daily.

I went with NuScreen on my Xoom. it's basically a wax that you apply which does a great job at cutting down on fingerprints. I put some photos of it up here:

It doesn't help with the glare though, but that wasn't my main complaint.

I went with the SGP (Steinheil) matte cover as well, difficult to apply but amazing once on.

I got this screen protector for $6 from gizmodorks. it works great, installed easy and feels very nice. I used THIS guide when I installed it and everything came out great.

As with all static screen protectors you need to install them in the absolute least dusty room in your house otherwise all this stuff instantly starts attracting to the shieldand basically ruins it. I installed mine in my garage and managed to install it with one a single small fiber seeking in.
I love these screen protectors. The downside is that these matte protectors so leave the display slightly blurry compared to stock and it takes some getting used to at first. But the feel when using your screen afterwards is much much improved and is well worth the trade off. I'm completely used to the look now, I barely remember how it was without the protector now lol.

Sure, I did that a couple of times when getting it on there. It's also risk/return: the more times you try, the more chances of getting a bubble or dust under there. Since I got almost none of either, I decided to cut my losses. was also considering going at the edge with an exacto, but probably not worth it.
What would be awesome is if there was a wet-application matte protector. I'd be all over that in a second...

Just got mine in today. Gonna install them later when I can steam the bathroom, but doing a preliminary fit, they cover the screen perfectly.
Edit: After install the bottom edge does not want to stay down. Not much of a problem for me as I have a case on the way.
It does add a rainbow effect to the screen that is most prominent on whites or brighter colors. Don't know if it'll go away with time, but I am willing to live with it for now because the feel is way better than the Zagg.
It is definitely easier to slide my finger around. Does not attract much fingerprints and the anti-glare works well enough for me.
Overall, I'm happy with it. Mostly because of the price and improved feel over the Zagg. I'll have to do some long-term testing regarding the rainbow effect and if I can put up with it.

Just got mine and put one on. Fit is better than most, but the blasted curved edges do cause the top and bottom to lip up. I have an otterbox commuter so i don't even see the bottom just a little lipping at the top. Overall besides that, the cutouts are exact, the camera is perfectly cut and the earpiece looks good too. The anti glare effect is not for everyone, but i do appreciate it although it causes graininess. Barely any grease gets on this guy which is amazing. 8/10 for these protectors.
As compared to powersupport: take it like this... unless powersupport themselves makes protectors for the nexus, these are a clear runnerup to them.
One thing that is EXREMELY frustrating is that they used the system of two tabs on one edge to apply the protector, and they made the two tabs at the bottom of the protector, allowing for zero focal point to pivot the protector. Really wish they put them at the top. I still managed a perfect fit though

- Wipe with Windex electronics wipe
- Wipe with included microfiber cloth
- Spray with air duster can
- Peel off first layer and apply tape to the adjacent corner
- Position and press down with included card or plastic squeegee
- Peel off last layer and smooth out with microfiber and card
I LOVE the texture. Swyping is much easier. The matte finish is nice and goes well with my Qubits case. It does however make the screen look a bit grainy. Not so noticeable on dark colors, but when looking at lighter screens (i.e. Message app) it's noticeable.

I agree with the swiping, this matte finish has literately no friction that glass or plastic would have on your fingers, whether their dry, wet, or greasy. Antiglare films are one reason why my Temple Run session was extremely high on the iPod, lol.

I think im going to pull the trigger on these been looking into matte protectors an the reviews for these seem to be better than the rest, wouldn't mind seeing a video or a few pictures before i purchase but im getting real tired of the verizon protector i have

I've said it before in a different thread that the display quality of these devices are absolutely amazing, it would be a pity to ruin that with a screen protector. There isn't a true perfect screen protector, but the two I'd recommend is either XO or martin fields. The basal is cheap, but martin fields is also dry and super clear. However, it is a oil magnet just like the XO.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow when I get to the office. I just put a new one on tonight and it came out very nice.

By reading these comments, wouldn't this screen protector be the same quality as the one Verizon sells? I used to have the Verizon one but I stepped away because of the grainy look on white screens (difficult to read sometimes).

DBA Cases supersized me

Today, I received and installed my test Just Like Glass screen protector from DBA Cases. It's larger than the current mass market screen protector that I'd previously bought for myself and my wife, but not yet installed. After installing the smaller one on my wife's SGS III, I'll compare them directly. My initial impression is favorable, but based on too little evidence to be worth much.
By way of background, I had a ZAGG screen protector on my Samsung Vibrant for several months, but removed it. Over time, I became dissatisfied with the extent to which the ZAGG darkened and obscured the screen--not, however, to the point of unusability. I also didn't are for the texture. Fortunately, for the next several months nothing happened to the screen. For that reason, when my Vibrant stopped charging and T-Mobile replaced it with a Samsung Exhibit II 4G, I went naked. Very shortly I discovered a small scratch. It's not noticeable with the screen on, but I know it's there. This experience determined me on getting screen protectors for our Galaxy S IIIs.
After removing the DBA Complete Ultra case, I installed the Just Like Glass screen protector in a steamy bathroom, with wet fingers. I prepared the screen in accordance with the clear instructions provided, except that I also cleaned it by spraying some Costco optical lens cleaner on a lint-free, microfiber eyeglasses cloth.
After spraying the protector liberally with the provided solution, it went on easily. I wrapped the provided cloth around the short end of a credit-card, which I used to squeegee out solution from under the protector. Noticing one circular area that would not squeegee out, I used scotch tape to try to remove it. Even with the protector on for barely a minute (post-squeegee), it was difficult to pry up. (This, I think, is a good thing.) Unfortunately, I did not succeed i removing the circle. Whether it's a dot of lint or dust, or will disappear of its own accord, time will have to tell. There are also some hazy areas in the upper left-hand area.
Neither the dot nor the haze is visible when looking through the protector with the screen on. The protector is very smooth. There's room around the perimeter for cases that take up more space than the DBA Complete Ultra that I installed last night.
Photos and developing impressions over the 5-7 days it's supposed to take to fully cure and for the solution to evaporate will follow.

A few scattered impressions after less than a day's use. First, the texture or feel is smoother than the glass on my iPad. Second, on the two long sides of the phone, there's about a one-eighth inch gap between the edge of the screen protector and the edge of the phone.Third, the front-facing camera is uncovered, but the screen protector does cover the proximity sensor and light sensor. The CEO of DBA Cases says he easily can change the factory cut; I'll be checking over the next several days to see whether the current cut causes any problems.

Coming soon. I've wanted to give the screen protector a few days to bond/cure, and to be able to offer more than superficial impressions.
I will say that the Just Like Glass protectors are high quality, but I did a better job installing the (smaller) production protector on my wife's S III than I did installing the larger protector on mine. I'm not sure whether the larger size is more difficult; I had bad luck, or what. When the screen is on, there are no problems. But when it's off there's at least one pin-point that doesn't go away, even after trying the scotch tape trick.

So I presume you received the larger cut, has any peeling happened or does it perfect fit. I am also receiving one so ill be posting a review soon.
Also the reason you zagg invisible shield fogged up because I would say it is a little pourus so it collects grease from your face when you answer a call or what not

good lightweight screen protector. no friction

i like the front of my screen being smooth and frictionless (ie no heavy rubber protector)...is there any good screen protector out there, that's light, doesn't have too much friction (could be as simple as a bubbless peelon) out there for the s3? Also wouldn't take away too much from the 'press' intensity I have to apply to my phone screen.

I also managed the best-looking installation of all the brands I've tried (it's a simple dry installation, which I applied in a steamy bathroom to prevent trapped dust). It's completely invisible with no lifting edges (all the others lifted where the screen curves at the edges). And no, I don't work for them.

Dba just like glass, exactly what you're looking for.

How easy was it to apply and remove? Is the adhesive too strong or sticky?

I picked up the day I bought my S3 the Zagg Invisible Skin HD. I've always used Invisible Skins and this one is leaps and bounds better as far as clarity and smoothness. Also still retains the lifetime guarantee.

I'm not a fan of the "step 1 and step 2" multi-pack screen protectors that don't stick well. Ya gotta figure there's a reason they come in 3-packs, because they suck. I see that Zagg makes a "smudge proof" screen protector for the Note 2. I'd really like to see it for the Galaxy S3.

Rearth Ringo...Pros: cant tell its on the screen..application was easy with no bubbles and feels smooth as glass. Cons: Doesn't go edge to edge and it does scratch easily.

I really like should Steinheil ultra clear screen protector. Feels like there is no protector and it is non adhesive. Little pricey but worth it based on trying other less expensive alternatives.

I got the ultra clear nano. First screen protector ever. Looks beautiful
A few tips to newbies applying it. I left mine by a steamy shower. Paranoid and let the dust particles settle. Cleaned it with the micro cloth.
Take the ' 'front' end is at the bottom left of the screen. On the top make sure the camera isn't covered (it shouldn't matter much if it were, in my opinoin)...peel the back end half way off (MOST IMPORTANT POINT...it is a very light screen protector that will fall back on its sticky self if you don't) and apply from the bottom (or front end part of your phone) and slowly peel back your way up.
Iron out the bubbles with the rubber thingy
Peel off front. Most bubbles should be out anyways.
The peelback should be a very smooth uniform motion.You also do NOT want any part of the plastic to fold on top of itself. It gives the appearance of a scratch on the screen.
This baby is so smooth and exactly what I wanted, but I could see why a lot of people complained about wasting one while trying to learn to apply it. Its like nothing was applied to it. No friction ,especially with sweaty hands and you can easily forget its on.

If it's not too much trouble, would you update the thread/pm me when you see scratches + your opinion about how scratch resistant the protector is? There seems to be mixed thoughts of how easily it is to scratch it

I will be remember what i said on application and how it is so thin it folds on it laelf and can give tje impression of a scratch. Initial application has to be very smooth. Other than that its great if youbwere sitting wjith me you wouldnt notice a screen protector on. I honestly don't see it scratching though. That and it has the right amount of friction. The sweat on your hands actually lubricates your finger across the screen.

I'm looking for a good/decent edge to edge, dry install protector for my wife's GS3. It has to be dry because she has already cracked the screen.
I've done some searching in the forums, but can't seem to nail down just those two must-have conditions: Edge to edge and dry install.

I have the ultra nano clear and it feels very smooth. Ive had it since septembre and have gotten zero scratches.
Also what screenprotector is not lightweight ? All screenprotectors are pieces of plastic lol. Havent had any metal screenprotector yet.

I too love the edge to edge ones.. I've tried a few so far, realook and spigen curved.. both are OK.. there is still a tiiiiiny gap on the edges.

Screen protector - useful?

So... screen protectors... are they actually any use?
Do they protect from scratches? Or do they just make your device harder to use because the screen loses sensitivity?
I'd be interested in people's opinions

I recommend using screen protectors because
- they prevent the glass from getting scratches. Sand scratches glass easily. Screen protector helps.
- they can reduce glare from screen. Glare is the reflection you see on the screen that makes it much harder to see what's on screen.
- they can be cleaned with lesser care... any slight wet cloth can clean screen
- they don't cause any loss of sensitivity
- you can start using the plastic nib for the spen as it lasts much longer than rubber nibs. And having a screen protector gives a much better experience with plastic tips for spen.
- they are damn cheap. Don't like them... no problem.. throw them

I went all out & picked up an Invisishield at BB. Yes, it was about $30.00 (-minus 20% for Rewards club event) but is was worth it in my mind & I will be doind the same with my Nexus 10. I really like the frogz type protectors, but the Invishield is really starting to grow on me as they are nearly impossible to damage. I have had it gouged to hell & in a warm environment after a few hours it always "heals itself". It is a bit tacky feeling (tacky sticky, not tacky cheap), so it is a bit hard or weird to get used to at first, but then you learn to touch lightly & all is well. Like stated above, the plastic S-Pen tip is MUCH better for use with screen savers, especially this type, but the device works just as well with the S-Pen without any loss of sensitivity.

I don't use a screen protector and frankly I don't see the need to.
The only advantage I see is the reduction in glare and even that depends on which screen protector you bought.
They DO cause a reduction in sensitivity, I have used a couple before on other devices (like my Note Phablet) and have thrown them all away.
A microfiber cloth cleans easily, and I use the plastic nib SPen HEAVILY and there are no scratches.
If you are paranoid though, then by all means. There are pretty cheap ones available

I always install a screen protector because it cuts down on finger prints. Last 3 have been Ghost Armour. They don't drag on your finger/S-Pen like the invisible shield or feel spongy. Also, clear like glass. And lifetime warranty.

All my gadgets have screen protectors. Better safe than sorry. Have protector on my note as well and no difference on using stylus at all. Smooth and write the same as without screen protector. I have anti glare kind and so easy to take care of finger prints as well. Overall I would highly recommend to get one.

It's good to see that lots of you find that they don't cause problems in using them; the last time I bought one I found that it did cause a loss of accuracy on the device I was using - but that was a few years ago and I am sure that the technology will have moved on.

Review for Carbon Fibre
Hi, I am getting a note 10.1 and want a carbon fibre blue ghost armour for it, would it affect the accuracy or will it scrape of what , thanks in advance!!!

The anti glare ones really degrade the screen vibrancy.

I recently applied the MinGuard Anti-Glare screen protector and my default stylus is acting strange. Don't know if it's the protector or the stylus. After installing the protector, I immediately changed to the white nib which glides better than the one.
But when clicking on buttons(not swiping) using the stylus, the tablet does not react sometimes. Takes several tries to successfully click on a button. It doesn't matter how hard I press, the angle in which I press, or how long I press. Now, when I use my finger to click on a button, it works as it should.
For instance, when I bring up the Task Manager and click with the stylus between Ram Manager and Active Appllications" the tablet does not react many times. Or even if I try to click the "X" to close the Task Manager, it takes many times to close. Or if I click the buttons in Snote to change my pen tip, it takes many times to bring it up. This issue doesn't occur all buttons.... I can click on the system buttons in the lower left no problem or app buttons.
Do you guys think the screen protector is the culprit? Or bad stylus? Thanks so much.

I THINK I found the issue. It was the magnets in my book cover. When I position the flap(which contains the magnets) out of the way, it works much better...but not perfect. so I think the protector takes away from stylus sensitivity a bit. Magnets effecting the stylus was discussed in this thread: S-Pen Inaccurate

I believe there are like 2-3 really small dust particles near the camera but I didn't want to risk ruining my 2nd attempt. I applied it last night. No issues at all with my pen or screen. Mine has the white tip on. I decided on this particular product because it's clear and had great reviews. Glad I chose this one and better safe than sorry for my screen, but to each their own.

Hi cama-cama. Read my post above yours. I pasted the one I ordered off Amazon. It was easy to apply. I have had NO issues with my pen. I wrote this reply with my pen.

There really is no point in using a screen protector for this tablet. Just get a flip case, don't be stupid with your tablet, and bam, no scratches, ever.

You can be guaranteed to see micro scratches after a couple months without a screen protector. Your choice.
