Hey guys, I just talked with Alejandrissimo and apparently my Xperia Play's boot loader cannot be unlocked due to having a 12w20 date. Is there a way on the outer package of the box to see if it meets the 12w14 and under date requirement? I realize the date isn't on the box, but perhaps a different number, UPC, IMEI, etc. could point out which ones meet the requirement without opening the box.
Thanks for your time.
I don't see anything related in my box. I only saw the manufacturing date in the tag behind the battery.
Same here. I was hoping there was another number perhaps that would give a clue as to the date however.
The MEID might determine when the phone was manufactured. Not sure if that would help though, as there's really no point that we have to compare.

Yeah I figured that too. I appreciate the help so far, and you both have been thanked.
If anyone can provide more info, please do. Thanks
nice
Agreed, thanks you

Hi!
I have purchased new HTC desire. I want to make sure if it is really brand new. Though it was sealed pack but Bloody vendors here in my region are notorious for repacking. The set out of box is in good condition looks like new but not as shinny as i thought a brand new handset happens to be. Also the battery came with it has a little bit scratch on it which created a doubt in my mind that it is used set.
So in nutshell, I want to see the total call timer of my HTC desire to check out duration of all calls to confirm if it is brand new. Please help.
Also any other suggestions to check if its brand new?
Seriously, nowhere can this info be found. I've checked HTC's website and the intertubes and nothing. Of course it must be somewhere well hidden on the handset because it just doesn't seem to be there.
Anyone have any ideas?
TIA
I doubt such information is stored anywhere on the phone..

I know I would like to know exctly how old my device was when I bought it. For one thing, learning the production daye could give a guess as to how old the battery is.

Knowing the production date of your phone would give you zero indication of when the battery was produced. Unless you can garner something from the S/N I haven't found any way to determine a production date.

One indicator is what version of the software was installed when you got the phone. It would depend on your carrier as to when which version was installed.
But if your phone was new, the battery would not have lost much capacity even if it were one of the first models.
I'm also wondering if there is a way to find the manufacture date. I'm curious because my original TP2 and my warranty exchange phone have different buttons (colored send & end keys, windows key where the home key was) I just want to know which one is newer, the original or the exchange.
Hey guys,
I'm hoping you can help me on this one since I'm a newbie on Android SW.
I just bought a Sony Xperia Play R800i on Amazon but didn't pay too much attention on the model no. which is R800i. I was surprised that R800i will not work with the frequencies used in Mexico (850) for 3G so I obviously cannot navigate using 3G, it works only on EDGE and that's like having a 16KBPS connection.
Is there any way I can switch from R800i to R800a so I can navigate using 3G?
Thanks for your help and advices. I don't want to think I just wasted my money buying a mobile which won't work in here.
I am sorry that is impossible because that would need a hardware change not a software change. You can flash the r800A (rogers) firmware but that won't solve your network problem.
As racecar said, radio frequencies are hard coded into the CPU chipset, it cannot be modified by software
Hi. I can't promise it, but I'll investigate to see if frequencies are defined in TA. Wait for a day of two...

LOL I'm just trying to help. I think you deserve it after donations and device - BTW all donation money is still unused
Back to topic, I remember that on SE A1/A2 phones you could change working frequency set by modifying GDFS. I believe that it's the same in TA on S1 phones, but I don't know exactly where.
OP were you able to make the switch? Would appreciate any feedback you have on the process.
Also, I'm obviously a noob but willing to learn can anyone give me a pointer on where to begin looking for info to understand what Blagus says in his last post?
Their cpus and transceivers are the same. And the rtr6285 transceiver supports umts bands 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9. So it seems a rom flashing would work.
Hello everyone..
I was hoping someone could tell me if there are any fake or replica Galaxy S2's out there. I'm about to purchase a S2X (Telus version T-989D) from a shop in China Town.. I'm worried that it may be some sort of fake because of the price tag ($360 CAD).
So, are there any fake or replicas hovering around the market for this device? If so, how can I tell the difference?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I am going to have a look at the phone on Wednesday, so would appreciate quick replies.
Thanks everyone for taking the time out to read this and thanks in advance for your responses.
Sincerely,
SH31KH
Hmm... i suggest you take a close look at display one at the telus or even a tmobile one at the retail store before purchasing. I have heard of prototypes of these phones looking similar but never a replica. Make sure you test it on site and ask for warranties.

I understand the difference between the two, but after a good bit of digging, can't seem to find a way to tell the two apart short of running fastboot!
Looks like the VZW ones share the same part number and come in generic looking boxes. I'm looking to buy one off CL, but don't trust the sellers as they all say Unlocked lol
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to tell them apart?

If you have the IMEI number, you can go to this site and find out :good:

If you can't get the IMEI to check, have the seller enable Developer Options and take a screenshot of enabled Unlock for you.
Swappa is good choice too.
