It absolutely blows my mind every day that goes by and we dont hear anything about the hspa+ galaxy nexus being offered from tmo.
with the popularity of the nexus one and nexus s I find it soo hard to believe that the only way us tmo users can get one is to spend $700+ by shipping one overseas.
plus knowing that most reviewers recieved a galaxy nexus with a tmo simcard in it, the [email protected] review phones came with a tmo simcard. and tmo hasnt said one freaking word about it.
I have my money for it waiting but my patience is slipping away. bought a galaxy s 2 from tmo and loved it but got down to the last day of the 14 day return period and got spooked cause some speculation hit the news about the galaxy nexus hitting our shores. but that didnt happen so im fighting the urge to call one of the craigsL sellers and pick up another new galaxy s 2 for $380. just so disgested everytime i load up the tmonews site and nothing has been whispered about tmo dropped a rumered release date.
anyone else here feel this way?
was thinking the same thing, but i just ordered over the weekend.
i'm not going to wait for tmobile to carry it.
at least with the penta band, if att does indeed acquire tmobile, i'll be good to go.
I felt that way, then I just bought one. Verizon locked exclusivity for 60 days or so and it is only $50 more to buy it overseas than from T-Mobile outright. (If the phone is priced like Verizon's version)
The only downside is that nobody has screen protectors in my locality yet. The T-mobile reps sure loved seeing the phone though.

I wonder when Verizon's exclusivity clause ends for the GN?
I'm just guessing here, but with an exclusivity, I would think the other carriers are not allowed to go bragging that they'll have it in XX days.
Or maybe they aren't going to carry it at all. I've been with TMO for a while, and I get the feeling that they just dont give a **** anymore
note: no facts were used in the previous statements.

Just order the Zagg for it. www.zagg.com
T mobile won't advertise as it only benefits Verizon for now.
Shouldn't matter that much on T-Mobile anyway since you are given the option of not paying for a phone subsidy. So the only premium you end up paying is for importing it. If you're not on a value/even more plus plan, switch and just buy the phone.

Not really, even if T-Mobile is acquired by ATT, which it won't, ATT will keep the T-Mobile cell towers running, these towers are very expensive. I don't think current T-mobile users with 1700mhz ban phone will lose their HSPA over night in that scenario. Besides ATT have 3G and LTE plans, Nexus users can still use the 3G plan. I personally don't think its detrimental in the case you can't stream HD video of Justin Bebier at 20mbps with your Nexus, while 6mbps could get you by. Either way you are getting your chains yanked since you don't save any money opting for the slower 3G speed from their data plan.

I feel for them. By the time they can finally upgrade phone after 3 years, their devices would be obsolete and the operating system in their phone would be two version behind.
Are Canada galaxy nexus pentaband also?
I walked into a T-Mobile store and the store manager confirmed that tomorrow I will be able to buy my Galaxy Note 2. The store did not have a display model and they only recived 3units for sale. Two of them being white. However, the manager did place the grey model on hold for me for only $5 down. I'm ditching my Galaxy S3. Hope this helps the T-Mobile buyers...

$249.99 on T-Mobile? That must be value plan...the value plan you are buying the phone outright and paying per month. The classic plan is just like all of the other carriers. T-mobile is really pushing their value plans.
Value is better priced any way you look at it.

Phones purchased on value plans will also be blacklisted if you don't pay your bill. There was a big scam a while ago with that. That is why if you purchase a T-Mobile phone second hand, you should call T-mobile with the IMEI to make sure it wasn't purchased on a value plan.
ok so here is my deal. I have the t mobile galaxy s3 which i bought less than 2 weeks ago and now I want the note 2. I paid 470 for the white s3 as it was used but it was very well maintained (looks new). The reason ipaid so much for it was because im not in a contract. Im using simple mobile which basically im getting t-mobile service (yes even 4g 42.2) for 50 bucks a month (minus insurance but even under a contract never bothered as i always got good cases). What would you suggest i do? I was thinking of selling the S3 for 430ish USD and put the rest on a note (hopefully i wont have to pull any more than 100 from pocket). Let me know what do you suggest

I spoke to customer service and the off contract price is $700+. I really don't see a situation where you will be able to come $100 out of pocket and get the Note 2 without signing a contract...

ugh...$700 is a very hard pill to swallow. debating if i should wait it out or pick one up now if thats the price...im not due for an upgrade until next june.
I guess ill keep my S3. Price is a little too much. Thanks a lot though!
You could always sell the GS3 and come out a little more than $100 out of pocket. If you sell the GS3 for $450, you can get an international note on Ebay for around $550. Pop in a straight talk sim (either AT&T or T-mobile service) and pay $45 a month for unlimited everything.
TMO News
I've been obsessively monitoring the TMO News website for the last couple weeks (OK, maybe longer than that - I really want a Note 2). Anyway, they have the leaked pricing information and updates on availability, etc. http://www.tmonews.com/

I was thinking in doing that but the international one doesnt support 42.2 HSPA+ on t mobile. I dont want to go straight talk because it doesnt have the t mobile 3g frequencies (correct me if im wrong) but it definitely doesnt have the 42.2 radio. Right now im getting 18 down and 2 up on simple mobile. If i go at%t, i know my data will only go as far as 5mbps at its best. The radios are the issue. If the international supported 42.2mbps, ill definitely have no problem getting it

Nope.
Over the last week I've asked a couple questions.. got some answered but can now verify....
FIrst Straight Talk... I bought the Tmobile Note 2.. unlocked it... cut my AT&T straight talk sim to the right size.. I used the tmobile micro sim as a template, then updated apn settings and wam bam I'm using an At&t straight talk Sim with a Tmobile Note 2 using AT&T APN settings. NO FLASHING MODEMS/Radios . Speeds seem to be similar to my ATT Note 1.. the fastest I've witnessed was 6mbps.. usually averaging 1.5mb -2mb.. somewhere in there. Also calling and txt/sms work perfect. The only other thing I did was root following the simple rooting guide.. took 3 minutes. Only reason I did that was so I have the option of tethering when I need to. Straight Talk is unlimited everything for a flat $45.. no taxes or nothing.. $45! I am careful when using data.. one weekend I used about 6gb of data watching some netflix on a roadtrip and a few days later got a warning about excessive data usage and it 'could' be against they're EULA. To me it's worth it to be somewhat mindful of my data usage for the cost savings.
The other thing is the phone fits Samsung's offical car dock for the Note 1. It's a tight squeeze and I'll probably do some adjustments with a dremmell to the dock so the phone goes in with a little more ease.. but it's awesome it works.. that sucker is expensive.. but it works great!

You do not need to unlock the phone to work on Straight Talk. When you order your sim card you get to choose Tmobile or At&T card. If you are going to use it on the Tmobile Galaxy Note II, then you do not have to unlock it just works as long as you get the right one.

Tmobile Straight Talk Speeds on Tmobile Galaxy Note 2
I keep seeing alot of people posting about their experiences with the Tmobile Galaxy Note 2 on Straight Talk AT&T, but I was wondering if anyone has used the Tmobile Straight talk sim, cut it to size and used the Tmobile Galaxy Note 2 on it. ...What were your speed Downloads? Wow those are pretty great speeds. I am currently using the AT&T straight talk sim in the T-Mobile GS3 and I dont get anywhere near that speed. I have been planning on buying the White Note 2 from Tmobile (outright) full price but they havent put it on their website wihtout a contract yet. Only the grey one. So I'm hoping I can just walk in to a Tmobile store and buy a full priced White one that way. Thanks! By the way...have you run into your speeds being capped/throttled for too much usage on Straight Talk? I ran into this a few days ago but I simply called Straight Talk and they reset my network....

That being said, the Nexus 4 will be in my pocket asap as well cause the price is so low I can't say no... I love it! I would go with the Note 2 if I had to pick just one though... Just my opinion of course...
You're not making this easier for me!!!! lol....you are right about the price for the nexus 4...its so low its hard to resist...the thing is the nexus 10 tablet isnt that bad of a price either and if I bought both the nexus 4 and nexus 10 id still be around the same price range as the note 2 by itself (without a contract).. well if you want to buy the note 2 at full price, TMOBILE online is not the best place to look. what you need to do is, do a seach on your pc for tmobile store locator for stores in your local area and call them one by one and ask if the will sell you the note2 at full price, and if they say yes. you make sure you ask to speak to the store manager just to make sure, because sometime store rep will tell you one thing and when you get there it's a different story i've been in that position before and you don't want to waste time going from one store to an other store. that's the best way to get your note2, and after you get it if you are already a tmobile customer for the pass 60 to 90 days you can get your unlock code for the note2, just wait for a week to go by before you call and ask for an unlock code. because if you call them right after from purchasing the note2 they wil send you an email saying that you have to wait for their system to see you using the note2 before you can apply for an unlock code.

I am with you on everything except your first comment... I bought my phone off-contract the day it came out at my local T-mobile store and I already had the $30 plan so I waited a few days (like you said) because their system must be in the dark ages to not be able to tell what phone your running on their system but that's what they told me as well so I waited 2 days and asked the agent if my phone was coming up in their system and she FINALLY said yes so I requested my unlock code and had it the very next day in my inbox... I switched to Straight Talk because their speeds are more faster and consistent in MY area so it's going to differ for a lot of people on which service to go to... Straight Talk or T-mobile.... If you are in an area like mine than Straight Talk is going to be faster than T-mobile ever has been and I live in an area where Verizon first started to build out LTE so idk why T-mobile has not upgraded over here yet?? Anyways, long story short, you have quite a few carrier options with your unlocked T-mobile Note 2!
I've been with AT&T for the last 2 years (Galaxy S3). Thinking of switching to T-Mobile.
Where should I buy the One M8? Directly from T-Mobile? Or are there factors like price, bloatware, firmware updates, bootloader, carrier logo on the phone, etc. that would make buying an unlocked or developer edition from HTC a better choice? How do all these things work on T-Mobile, and on the One M8 specifically?

Before switching to T-Mobile, make sure they have good coverage in your area. I am currently testing them (again lol). Coverage does seem to be improving. Do you want to finance the phone? If so, then you have to get it through T-Mobile. All carrier versions of the M8 will be bootloader-locked; however, you can have HTC unlock it. I am sure the phone will get updates just has fast as any other carrier. Remember, the unlocked/developer editions will not have Wifi calling, which is very nice.
I too am considering picking up the TMO branded M8 as my developer edition was taking forever to ship from HTC.com.
Remember you don't really get discounts on phones for T-Mobile anymore because there is no contract. You can use the jump thing they offer which is pretty good for those who like to switch phones every 6 months. But personally, I would find a used one or refurbished one rather than paying full price. But beware of scammers with that route.
However with the price you'll pay with T-Mobile and doing the "jump" you would probably still save money lol.

The AT&T and international M8 are not compatible with T-Mobile 3G network.
So, if you want to use it with T-mobile, you need to buy it from them.

true and false at the same time. It depends if the area you live in has been reframed. If they have LTE then the HSPA+ network is PCS1900 and not AWS. Best to check the area and find out if it's been reframed or not.
T-Mobile jump is a scam, you have to pay off 50% of the cost and you don't get to keep it, then you get new phone.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
just like buying a phone trying to sell it to get back 50%+ of the money around the same time most people would turn in during jump? You'll be stuck on the same boat. Either T-mobile does the leg work for you or you do it yourself. Either way seems the same to me. Since I am accident prone Jump is actually worth the money for me, and also when I am ready to change devices I don't have to find ways and deal with people to sell a phone to buy a phone.
I got mine through TMO even though I don't use them(I'm on straight talk). They are charging pretty close to the going rate for the phone(even with the interest added in they're not taking you to the cleaners too bad) so it's not a bad deal if you don't wanna go out of pocket all the money at once. The one I got was able to be s-off and thus simunlocked for free so that worked out beautifully for me.
My friend also got one(he is the one who is on TMO) and it's been great for him as well. We've both had good reception with it.

Give it 4 months and you'll be lucky to get $300. Also you probably be trying to sell the phone for weeks to months at $460. Been there done that.

T-Mobile jump is a scam, you have to pay off 50% of the cost and you don't get to keep it, then you get new phone.

Obviously i was not talking about the original jump. The original jump was great and that's is why T-Mobile got rid of it because it was too good of a deal for consumers.
Also, the original jump is not available now is it? No, it is not

Yes, It is for me, and anyone else who was a t mobile customer before Feb. 22nd, 2014
You are automatically grandfathered in if you were on TMobile before that date

So with the Pixel phone being sold through Verizon here in the US, do you think this phone will be fully unlocked if bought from them?
Wow, that is expensive... and sold out...
Didn't get one, but want the 128 GB (though I wish they offered a 64GB).
Add the protection plan for another $100, sitting at close to $1000!
Holy cow... I am going to need to sell a kidney.

Being it's Verizon I would say very likely but I am sure it will get cracked at least until new updates remember this is Verizon your talking about they love to be in control of things that they have no right to be. Easy fix don't buy from Verizon buy from Google or if you can buy from HTC as they will treat you better in the long run like the $100 in free accessories they gave the HTC 10 buyers after we got an extra free USB-C charge cable months before and maybe uh oh protection might be included too but that is hoping lol.
Is there any downsides from purchasing from google vs Verizon? Will we get access to the same LTE bands, etc.?
In the past, have google versions of phones have come with unlocked bootloaders but verizon come with locked versions of the same devices?

Given the way the past Nexus devices (that included support for Verizon and were eventually sold through them) the answer is no. They use the exact same hardware presumably. But until we start seeing model numbers confirmed it could be a possibility. But the unlocked version will support Verizon and it will have Google as your main access for support (which has been good to some people in the past).

Keep trying and clicking in different orders. Like adding the 128GB before the color, size, etc. I managed to snag one that way. BE PERSISTENT!

The only reason I'd consider buying it straight from Verizon is because it would be added onto my bill in which my job would end up paying for my phone. If I buy it from the PlayStore i'd have to buy it on my own.
I think I'm going to end up with a Note 7.

I'm in that boat as well, work will pay for my phone if I get it through Verizon. Here's hoping that I can in some way sell the Verizon phone NIB and buy the unlocked one.
If you get it from Verizon they are offering the promotion 2 year contract again exclusively for this phone. So you can get the pixel 128gb for like $300....but it might be bootloader locked and you won't get the free vr headset promo the Google store is offering right now.

Pre-order either Pixel model from today through October 19th and Verizon will send you a redemption code for a free Daydream view.
Will likely be bootloader locked.

All I see on their web site is the payment plan and the option to pay full retail price and I looked all over Verizon's web site and I cannot see the contract option for either pixel phone. Can you provide a link to where you found it please, thanks.
That bootloader lock kills the deal
.. guess my nexus 6 lives on

My coworker told me about the 2 year promo...I didn't actually see it myself. He is currently at the end if a 2 year promo so maybe that has something to do with it??
Oh that's it. Anyone on a contract can keep getting new contracts like that. But new customers cannot get a contract from Verizon directly. You can still get service through Verizon with a new contract and subsidised phone you just have to purchase the Verizon service through dealers like best buy and target I know they both list new Verizon service with a contract where you get the phone subsidised instead of a payment plan or paying full retail price for the phone.

Someone will probably figure out a way to unlock it. You could just wait it out and you might get a better deal waiting also.
Android police has already confirmed the verizon bootloader will be locked.

Yeah, but it took well over a year to unlock the verizon S5 (at least. I hadn't looked for another year, so it might have been over 2). It'll be cracked Eventually but how long will it take
I'm not too worried about the bootloader being locked as I've stopped rooting my phones and flashing ROMS but I just need to know if the Verizon model has all the bands to work properly on t-mobile. I have 2 sims and need to confirm this.
Bootloader is definitely locked. Saw this question/answer on the VZW Page this morning for the Pixel XL.
I just preordered the pixel xl from best buy and extended my contract with Verizon. Does anybody know if the version they carry is the same as Verizon's or the unlocked version in the play store?
