Lack of drivers for gpu? me too I'm confused about it.. let's wait I think we are getting into that..

hey
any benchmarks?

This GPU on galaxy y Have a LOCKED PERFORMANCE by samsung,So,if get the drivers, devs can "unlock" the potential

To answer this simply, without drivers, the hardware of the device can't be optimized as good or in some case just cause certain functions to not work at all. The locking on this device, prevents a lot of things.
On some other devices, for example my Droid 3, the bootloader is locked to the extent that we can't change the kernel, and therefore dev are forced to make the ROMs work with the stock kernel making it not run as good as it could.

yes u r right
a locked device cant be developed

Do we need a custom bootloader ?

Hiya mate. Maybe this will be alot more helpful than you have gotten so far.
I understand that you are looking for a way to free up a good amount of ram when booting up so your device runs nice and smooth.
If you werr on 4.1.2 firmware then this would be easy as you would only need to flash a custom kernel and would find that
Your ram was really good when booting with a few tweaks here and there.
But as your on 4.2.2 and its only a leak at the moment this really wont be possible yet.
The reason why is because there are no kernel source codes yet so custom kernels cant be made.
But once the Official 4.2.2 is released then you will find you can have custom kernel which can help

Desire C has armv7, our Wildfire S has armv6 that is, as the older generation. It'll be hard, and theoretically impossible.
Everything is possible and nothing complicated.

So no, I don't xD
what we need is cm7. i know its a stretch to ger it working on our device but would be very efficient considering its low resource requirements.

The VideoCore4 in the Galaxy Y is a very much cut down version of the standard VideoCore4, So it has a very low performance in comparison with the other full specification devices. It's done to reduce the size and hence reduce cost. That explains the low specificationss of the Samsung Galaxy Y in comparison to other full VideoCore4 based devices. Fcuk Samsung!!
Maybe if we can change the code and make one ready for Samsung Galaxy Y devices.
I am just telling what I know. I maybe wrong also. We will try this out first.
EDIT: Just now
Lets form a team and develop this!! PM me!!
Developers are welcome!!
This is the time we have to prove ourselves to the android world!!
