Credits: turl, isaacj, Michael Huang, erasmux, Mathieu Desnoyers, ezeekiel
Special thanks to:
- cyanogen,firefart,trock79 for the JDkernel app.
- Ziggy for teaching me how to patch kernels.
- Imoseyon for general help here and there.
So, its finally here! After rigorous testing, my testers and I feel that this kernel is acceptable for release. I spent the last few days squashing bugs and optimizing the kernel, testing it, and making sure it works well on the Maguro and Toro
Features:
JDKernel Updater App
CIFS
Optimized Smartass2 Cpufreq governor
Hotplug Cpufreq governor
Optimized LagFree Cpufreq governor
Patched as close to mainline as possible (3.0.14)
Overclock to 1.35ghz
CFQ IOSCHED
Undervolted a nice amount
removed some bloat
Using EXT4 for EXT2/3
GPU O/C
FAIR_SLEEPERS
Optimized makefile
Lowered default_dirty_ratio to 10
Lowered vfs_cache_pressure to 50
Swap enabled
SLQB slab allocater
other mods too small for me to remember.
CHANGELOG:
v1.1.2: Re-did source, removed some bloat, changed to CFQ, changed to SLQB, Undervolted, optimize smartass and Lagfree govs, removed interactiveX
v1.0.0.5: Initial release

so, just to make sure .... this kernel is NOT working with 4.0.2 or?
Thx for your work!
Use this Kernel with MONACO r8 and it runs like hell!
GTA 3 is working!

Runs like hell? I don't quite know what to make of that!? I take it the phone gets quite hot?

Few pointers: why do you have swap? We don't need bloody swap in this devices. BFQ scheduler? BFQ is for rotational devices, we have flash devices. Why SLAB and no SLQB or SLUB? Why smartass2? Smartass2 isn't working good, even after changing the tunables for SMP. Why interactiveX? We already have interactive and it already has a built-in sysfs screen off freq parameter. Lagfree governor? It looks like Minmax to me.
Merry christmas!
i don't have any tech knowledge about kernels and such so i can't comment on franco's input but i have to agree with lordofcamster;
i'm too running the latest MCR release and together with this kernel the thing is really smooooth; oc'ed at 1350 ( 1125 uv ) with interactiveX governor
batterylife seems pretty ok too; i'm trying to drain the battery to see how much screen time i can get...
so far 2hrs + some minutes screen on and i'm down to 56% battery;
( in between i restarted the phone 5 times )
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what does tuna refer to?

Well, the kernel is rather new. So no rapports yet. So stating the battery life isnt great, is premature

Just my 2 cents . No offence here. Totally agree that still premature. Im testing it now

Heres my opinion: with this kernel, lags all over Settings, switching apps, market. But scrolling pages in menu is fine. Cant test battery atm as im almost out and need a recharge
OVERALL: u defo getting there but we need some minor tweaks here and there. Im so sorry that i cant help much as im not a kernel master but those r just my 2 cents

I've got lag in settings menu in every rom with every kernel...imho it's not a problem with this kernel
i agree franco or any other kernel lags in this situation..
Anyone has managed to overclock the cpu of Samsung Galaxy W?
I've tried with both SetCPU and CPU Master with no results, as the max frequency cannot be increased more than the default speed of 1400MHz..
For overclocking need custom kernel

Correct!!
Arco is working on a custom kernel, and maybe i will give it a shot if there is a good tutorial!
gr8! thx guyz
I've talked about this before.
Arco refuses to add higher speed frequencies to his kernel before making sure it's stable and smooth.

I see, can you tell me which file should I edit to add higher frequency on the kernel source? (just for experiment)

hi all
i use franco kernel and PA 2.17
and i realized i have very little governers , interactive , ondemand , wheatley , lazy and performance , i use wheatley currently and to be honest i don't know what it does ...and i wanted to get more governers eg , smartass v2 etc ...but how?
thanks

you only get the governors that are included in your kernel. you want more governors, convince francisco. or, find him, then tickle him until he folds

I'm not adding any more governors, the ones that are included are the only that are useful, sorry.
that means youre only left with tickling him into it. sorry
oh nevermind then i though you can add them at will sorry for asking though

never be sorry for asking, remember that.
I lol'd at the title. Oh but if you want a governor like smartassv2 I'd use interactive governor.

op says that the kernel has less governors that he would like. why have so many? interactive rocks. if you tweak it a little bit.. it gets even better.

Nyan colonel has lots to play with including moar governors. Marcusant is the bomb, I used his stuff from the original Epic 4G, always a step ahead when we had a flood of ROM leaks.
Edit: forgot there are diff versions of this phone lmao this is my second Android phone, big change.

If I have helped you.... hit that sexy thanks button. ^_^
I've started this thread just to know the best governor and I/O scheduler combination. Post the combination which you think is THE BEST!
I use Deadline and Smartmax. Sometimes Smartassv2 or Ondemand as well.
This doesn't belong here.

and on to on topic, i use smartmax with Noop schedular
Noop is said to use less cpu cycles so its KIND Of a battery savin schedular
Smartmax + Deadline...
I use smartmax and bfq while charging @1.7 GHz
And smartmax and noop on battery @1.5 GHz .

smartmaxx and bfq on shpongle, no mods and no apps running in the background like facebook and my device feels like a nexus :good:
i want to overclock my device what is the safest range ..in order to maximize the performance of my device
thanks in advance
device Lg optimus me p350
rom cyanogenmod electroz v3
kernel 2.6.32.9
Overclock speed
The overclock frequency depends on the ROM that you use.
After using a number of ROMs I felt 787 MHz is the safest one.

what about the minimum frequency?..sorry i'm a newbie for this kind of stuff

The min. frequency can be set as low as 122 MHz if u r using a governor like ondemand or smartassv2 etc.
That'll help u to increase battery life since the processor will not work at it's top frequency when it is not needed.
If u r using a governor like powersave, then setting a very low freq. will slow down ur phone like hell.
Experience urself with setting up diff frequencies.
