Recently my digitizer has been playing up, so I'm trying to return it to stock.
However, all I've been able to install is a .62 build, however my girlfriend has the exact same phone and she's only got .42 (Stock, never messed with)
Every time I try to flash the .42 build via flashtool when it goes to read the .ftf it's just blank, unlike if I was to put .62 in it wouldn't be blank.
I did flash a 2.3.3 Stock ROM but that resulted in a bootloop.
Any idea how I can flash a stock 2.3.4 with a .42 build number? Or at least flash a 2.3.3 Stock ROM that'll allow me to update to the UK's .42 build on 2.3.4?
Cheers.
Had the same Problem, couldnt flash the 0.42, so i flashed the stock 0.58.

Hi everyone,
Sorry, quick confirmation question before I do anything. I have unlocked BL - going from SEMC 4.0.2.A.0.42 rom I flashed cm7.2 and doomkernel. I then moved on and flashed BlendMiui and doomkernel. Now I am thinking of trying an alpha ICS rom. It says I need to be on 4.0.2.A.0.42 rom.
Because that is where I originally came from, can I just go ahead and start flashing? Or do I need to reflash the stock rom before I start?
On a side note, if I just go and flash the stock rom through Flashtool, will my phone be back to pure stock?
Oh, and do I really need the latest Flashtool?
Cheers!
Better flash it to stock, just to be sure before flashing ICS.
And yes, flashing a stock fw will make the device pure stock

i have an xperia arc which was rooted 2.3.4 build .42
I updated over PC to .62, lost root. Now I want to revert back to .42, how can I do that safely
I used flashtool to root previously, prefer to use that again. Can I flash .42 back with no problems
Thanks in advance.

yah no problem at all ,you can use flashtool and you can root again then update thru OTA update so your root will still remain .
Hi,...my Play came with 2.3.4 .42 locked bootloader,...i upgraded to .62 then unlocked the bootloader and rooted. Now i am wondering if i can flash back to .42 or .62 without any problems,...or do i have to re-lock the bootloader,..HELP!
Just re-flash the firmware with flashtool. You can go to any firmware that's compatible with your phone's model
thanx dude m on it!!!
What would be the best way to run stock 2.3.4 rooted on an R800i? The stickies are outdated around here and all root methods I've seen refer to 2.3.3 or 2.3.2.
Would the best way be to root on 2.3.3 then update to 2.3.4 OTA and use something like OTA rootkeeper if I want to keep the stock kernel?
If I am unlocked can I just ftf or update to the current stock firmware and then fastboot a kernel with root built in like doomlords kernel? Is that the best method if you want a custom kernel but stock 2.3.4?
Really I am looking for the best way to run stock rooted 2.3.4 with a stock kernel and with a custom kernel to compare.
Yeah, you can flash any stock rom using a ftf file and then update the phone to the latest version with OTA or PC Companion, but i think neither of them works if your bootloader is unlocked. In this case you must find a ftf file with the latest 4.0.2.A.0.62. I found it on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409355

Hi
My xperia play is currently on jb 4.1.2 (paranoid android rom 2.57.1-wedges with the turbo kernel) and very nice it is too,
I however want to restore it to the original uk stock rom that allowed games to be played etc so i can sell it as i have bought an xperia t.
Do i just use flashtool (Using the guide in the general section) and install the original GB stock rom 4.0.2.A.0.42 or is there anything else i have to do / beware of / Will this also flash the kernel back to stock. I am assuming that the turbo kernel wont work with a stock GB rom.
Thanks

Worked fine, the only issue i had was the phone wanted to update, but it kept giving me a message in pc companion that it could not update as it had been modified, I unrooted it and tried again same error, so tried a full flash again with the .42ftf, same error again. Finally reflashed with the .62. ftf, its not trying to update anymore. I think there is a problem with the root as it says its not rooted anymore but flashtool says it still is
Now to work on my new xperia t.
