Sprint SPH-L710 Cannot Connect MTP Device to PC (WinXP) - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi there..
I'm new user for Sprint SPH-L710 from Indonesia
just wondering is anyone can help me with MTP connection issue
I already install SPH-L710 driver plus Samsung KIES to my PC but when in plug in my L710 to PC there's nothing show up on notification bar like others Samsung device that i have (SPH-D710 & Gtab 8.9 P7300) that show option to see the contain of the device but on L710 there's nothing anly charging, & on KIES is always on Never Ending Connecting progress..
already re-install Driver & KIES but the result is still the same cannot connect to PC except charging
but actually my PC can read my device as MOdem & Port Samsung USB Driver plus i can use Odin to Flash new Firmware..
Already try with USB debugging checked or not checked and still have same result..
i'm afraid is the problem with USB setting but when i dial ##8778# (UPST Mode) is nothing happen (on Epic 4G & Epic Touch when i dial ##8778# the option with USB connection when we plug it to PC) cause i'm form Indonesia & all CDMA device have to Flash the number from Indonesia CDMA Operator. i'm afraid when Flash the number (via Modem USB Setting on UPST Mode) the person who did it is forgot to set back the USB connection & the problem is until now i cannot get contact the person..
is there anyway that i can do to fix this issue...??
Cheers

Actually I'm in the U.S. on sprInt and have the same issue, my device is not activated yet.....also on win xp, I can use Odin as well so I can live, hope someone can help you

[Q] USB not recognised

Hi all,
I've read a lot of forums on what seems to be a pretty common issue, however, with each attempt at a fix the answer is still elusive.
the problem i'm experiencing is that when I connect my (unrooted) Galaxy S2 to my pc (running windows 7) the USB device is not recognised. The phone says that it is connected (USB Connect MTP-Connected), however, when I try to access my phone via Kies or explorer it is not there. I also get an error message saying that the 'device is not recognised'.
I've taken the following actions:
- Reinstalled a fresh version of Kies
- Reinstalled samsung drivers (once prompted by Kies)
- Tried at least 3 USB cables including the original Samsung cable
- As per one of the blogs i read, i switched to USB debugging on and then off as there was no effect
- I've tried turning on bluetooth, then connecting the USB device (also a 'fix' i've seen on another forum)
- I've restarted my phone a number of times
- Connected via different USB ports
- Restarted my PC
Could anyone please help me.
Thanks,
Rob

Uninstall all drivers, and Kies.
Restart the computer.
No go to device Manager under Human Interface Device/Universal Serial Bus controllers and see if there is that little yellow triangle there. If so click and uninstall any device with the aforementioned icon.
Now reset again.
Go to the Samsung website and download the drivers for the phone. Restart the computer yet again. Almost done.
Now attach your phone and it should be identified.
Go ahead and install Samsung Kies and you should be ok. I hope all this works.
I had a very similar issue with my last SII. One day it just simply would not be recognized by many computers using various USB cords including the OEM one. Windows always said something along the lines of " USB device not recognized, a device connected to this computer has malfunctioned." The computer would pick it up bit was listed as an unknown device in the device manager. Turns out it was a hardware failure so I had so get a warranty replacement

Not very helpful answers... you may have sorted this out already but...
One solution found on other threads that worked for me was this:
uninstall Kies
key in the dialer *#7284#
it has 4 option there..
UART (MODEM/PDA)
USB (MODEM/PDA)
Only change the USB setting.
Select PDA, if it already selected, select MODEM, don't hit "back", try reconnect, wait for windows to respond.
Unplug, then select PDA, try reconnect.

Try changing your usb cable. If that still doesnt help, try it on another pc. If still not, then send it to samsung for repair.

[Q] USB stopped working 4.3

Hi all, how are you?
I have a Galaxy Nexus unrooted stock with Android 4.3 (JWR66V).
After the update to 4.3, my device has stopped working in MTP/PTP mode.
I mean, When I connect my phone to my Notebook USB port, thus nothing happens on my notebook or my phone.
When my phone is connected to my notebook the notification dialog to select between MTP/PTP modes doesn`t show up anymore in the phone (it only says that is charging).
I have tried to re-install the drivers on my notebook, and It didn't fix this issue.
I have also tried to the a factory reset on my phone, and It did't fix the issue either.
Besides, I tried also to connect the phone with a different USB cable and it didn't fix the issue either.
Please, May someone help me?
Thanks in advance
Please, May someone help me?
I have no idea of what is going on and why USB stopped working after 4.3 update?
How do I troubleshoot this issue?any clues?
I figure out that on Android 4.3 I have ti go to Settings->Storage->Usb Computer Connection and manually select the connection mode...
(I am not sure Why the notification pop up doesn't show anymore on the phone when I connect it to the PC using the USB cable)

You are totally right... dont know the stu... option doesnt appears clear. On my S3 I did the same, but the option wasnt visible... you must click over USB (even it appearing as dimmed) then a USB CONNECTION (or something like) appears you must click over and then a screen with MPT option will be available... For godsake WHY such thing isnt available on settings or on shortcut menu by default is beyond my understanding.

[Q] The i317M can't connect to ODIN

Hi all,
I just got an i317M with Telus stock JB 4.1.2 firmware, and my PC installed the Samsung USB dirver v1.5.14.0.
When boot up the phone and connect to my PC, I can see the device and no problem to access all the folders.
But, once I put the phone into download mode, the ODIN v3.07 won't see anything connect, nor showed any error message.
The phone already has "USB debug mode" enabled, I'm wondering is that possible someone massed up the USB setting, and here is the detail setting showing on the phone:
Dialed *#7284# get into PhoneUtil, showed both UART and USB are choose "PDA", and the Qualcomm USB Settings is MPT+ADB.
If anyone saw similar situation before, please help me out of this issue.
Many thanks!

Did you install the Samsung USB drivers? That way your pc will see the gadget device and know what to do with it.
EDIT: Odin3 will only work with the Samsung USB drivers, without the USB drives odin3 will never connect to your phone in download mode.

I think the settings are modem then pda.
Thanks all your support, finally got it works...
Looks like the i317M is very sensitive about the USB cable.. I was using the same micro-USB cable for S2/S3/Note1 with ODIN never has any issue, that's why I didn't think of the cable will cause this problem.
After swapped 3 different cables, finally the i317M connected to the ODIN with a brand new cable.

[Q] Galaxy S II USB connection to computer not working

When I connect my phone to my computer via USB, the first time it installs drivers and makes a noise. The drivers it installs are "Samsung Mobile Modem Diagnostic Serial Port (WDM) (COM6)", "Samsung Mobile Modem", and "Samsung USB Composite Device."
However, the device does not show up in Windows Explorer, and if I turn USB debugging on, it does not show up as a device I can debug on.
The device is running Android version 4.0.4 with model number SPH-D710.
I have tried installing the Samsung USB Driver for Mobile Phones, but that does not do anything differently when I plug in the phone.
I have tried with both of my cables and it works with neither one.
I have tried dialing *#7284# and changing USB to modem then back to pda and restarting the device, but that makes no difference as well.
The phone used to be a Credo Mobile phone but last year it was flashed to Page Plus. I'm not sure if this could have made the USB connection to the computer stop working as a USB storage device.
The phone shows up in devices and printers as a modem and USB hub.
Any ideas on how I can get it to work with my computer (Windows 7)? I mostly need it to work for USB debugging which is currently impossible.
Wrong forum, belongs here. I've asked mods to move your thread, sit tight until they do.
Found solution
I found a solution:
I had to change it to AP mode by dialing ##8778#. It was set to CP mode, probably from when I had it flashed. Yay!
Found it in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956802

Does it connect in download mode? (maybe also try change MTP etc) Different mode uses different USB drivers etc. Have read sometimes a USB port seems to become disabled in one mode but will work in other.
Make sure your USB driver is good. Are you using the same drivers from some "dodgy" website if so uninstall and just allow Windows to find drivers or get from samsung.
You may be able to enter the USB service menu and change settings by entering *#0808# in dialer then select MTP (or maybe *#7284# & set to PDA)
But connector/power board may have a problem

same problem in download mode is not detected.
I changed drivers but the problem persists.
when I 'll branch pc displays a notification at the bottom next to the date indicates an unrecognized USB device.

Turn phone off. Remove battery & SIM (though I think it's probably the battery that does the trick). Reassemble & your USB may be back if it's none of the other things and it's not hardware .......:fingers-crossed:
(If it doesn't work 1st time do it again but only reassemble after a minute or two to be certain all power is drained from caps etc.)
