Strange problem HELP - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Been running Bombaridier ROM for a long time Android Version 2.3.5.
I noticed every time i shut the phone off and turn it on it will "Search" for signal/radio for nearly 4minutes.
It just started doing this, no new apps have been installed.
Anyway to fix this issue?

May I ask what radio are you using? Maybe a factory reset can help. (make sure to backup your apps with titanium backup or others)

May I ask why in the world you are running that rom?? I mean not just because its gb, but there are way better gb roms than that

He's probably not a flashaholic like the rest of us and probably like what he saw back then and it sufficed his needs.

Random Reboot Issue

Was wondering if anyone had the same problem as me/a solution..
My T-Mobile S2 randomly reboots itself once a day at least when left idle. Not rooted. Bone stock rom, about 33 user apps installed that never gave me problems on my other phones (Nexus One, HD2)
I read something about SD cards causing the issue, so I formatted mine from the phone and threw it back in, still happening.
I can give a list of my apps if it would help, other than that I did notice one other thing.. I use the google news & weather widget that came with the phone, and I set it not to auto refresh. After it reboots, and I don't have background data on, the widget doesn't load (this is how I know it's actually rebooting if I wake up to it) so maybe it's related to that somehow?
Any input is appreciated.
I have the same issue after I rooted my phone and I install the Juggernaut 2.5

according to whitehawk it's a known issue, and they are going to release a new ROM soon with the fix

Thanx man. A quick question. Can I install more than one rom in my phone?

No one on stock, huh. Guess I should've known better being on xda and all. Haha.

Problems with stock ics....

Is anyone having the issue where the phone freezes and then goes to the lockscreen and reloads?...when it does this, my clock reads the wrong time until i reboot...

Try clearing your cache.
Or try one of the ics ROMs from the development section

I was having that problem the first 2 days of stock Rooted ICS. Oddly, the problem stopped on it's own without the need for further action :/

I had it a lot with the upgrade then i wiped and reinstalled without data and it got better...but last night i started a program that caused that to happen and once it did it kept happening until i nand restored from my backup i made...

Well i know with my hd2 that the rom free space was a problem...i had 77mb free with gb and 6mb with ics...so i uninstalled all the apps i wasn't using with titanium and gained 100mb extra...so the rom has room to do it's thing...we'll see if this works...

same here - time "changes" throughout the day
I had the same problem.
OK here's my scenario, I rooted once I upgraded from the kies ics update via the stock root on GalaxyS2Root.com and then had these problems, I then get (very) angry and decided to try it a different way, so I un-rooted, still having hang then fast restart with buttons lit up. So after I put stock ics on there I did a factory reset in stock recovery, then re-rooted now it's Ok, even though the wifi strength is horrific on the stock ics regardless (anyone else having this problem?). But this permanently fixed my problem. Hope this helped!
P.S. - I froze almost all of the stock bloatware with titanium backup as well still works great!

Jb roms here are all having the similar issues.. Either screen flickering or random reboots / sleep of death.. That is when your phone reboots on its own but never completely boots and need to be manually restarted.. If you can deal with any of those problems then you've ill be very happy with any jb rom you try.. I am running aokp and am very happy with it atm

I've been running the aokp since build 1 and i haven't switched back to gb or ics since i think it's a huge difference from both. I like it a lot, it's very smooth, the flicker can be get rid of by choosing a few options in settings like disable hw overlay, which completely gets rid of the flicker for me. I don't use google now but the search works yeah. I get random reboots and either pull the battery or wait a few seconds and then hold down the power button until it restarts, but it doesn't bother me as much it rarely happens at important times, usually it happens after i lock the phone and put it in my pocket. Also it freezes sometimes too but not too often.

I've been using AOKP as a DD for a while now I love it. I would suggest flashing the newest nightly (9-18). It's all about preference with ROMs, I love all the ways to customize AOKP.
It's like I tell everyone though, just flash it and test it out for yourself. Always make a nandroid just incase if you don't like it you can always flash back... no harm no foul. Ever since JB leaks I haven't gone back to anything else.
You won't be disappointed. Just follow the instructions and read up on the threads before posting questions/problems because if you experience an issue chances are other people have as well and there's a fix.
Have fun!!!

Reflash... sometimes these things happen don't sweat it your phone isn't broke. I flashed an earlier build 5 or 6 times until it worked correctly.
If at first you don't succeed.....
I've just switched to ericwill's CM10 build from AOKP due to SOD issues and battery life issues.
No RR or SOD yet and greatly improved battery life so far. Been running for about 18 hours.
As a side note, I much prefer AOKP for its customization, but I'll take stability over customization any day.
Of course, YMMV.

I ran CM10 09_17 and AOKP 09_18 got RR on both and SOD on CM10, then i tried Paranoid 2.13(CM10) and its been great!! atm am on 26hrs uptime with no issues.
I've run BinaryBishops, AOKP, CM10, and now Paranoid 2.13 which I've been running around 27-28 hours uptime. Only one I haven't experienced any reboots or sod or any of the like was Binarys' but Paranoid is the smoothest by far. Camera, music, keyboard all super responsive, no lag I've noticed at all. Running stock Trebuchet and haven't gutted it like I normally would, delete what I don't use and the like. Binarys night lies seem to be on hold for whatever reason

Am I the only one with Wifi sleep issues?

Just about every time my phone deep sleeps, wifi shuts off completely. I've tried multiple roms and kernels, and every advanced wife setting combination possible. Thinking it's a hardware issue in which case bye bye nexus.
I've googled and googled and only really found suggestions like "uncheck wifi optimization" or "make sure turn wifi off while sleeping is (un)checked". Tried all of that, and still persists.
Anyone else have this issue, or can someone give me an out of the box tip?
Thanks

You've probably already tried this, but have you tried a full wipe? Also, have you tried wiping you device's internal memory (SD card), and have you tried reverting to complete stock and starting over?
its a known issue with 4.2.2 roms, nothing much you can do about it, temporarily it can work but problem will repeat itself
I have done a full wipe, but not wiped the sd card, or reverted to stock. Hoping to avoid such a tedious task.
So my options are either suck it up, revert to a 4.1 rom, or get a new phone?
Thanks

Thanks for your suggestion, let me try and report back later to see if this works.
This problem has been constantly bugging me that I want to dump this phone. Seriously disappointed with Google over all these bugs...
but I keep wifi optimization off... should I keep it on?
If you are unlocked, you can flash some custom kernels to fix the problem. I use Fancy Kernel and the developer included a fix in the kernel.
Fancy Kernel OP
Work-around for Wifi drops (Kernel specific)
After fiddling with the Wifi Optimisation, I would like to report back that it DOESN'T WORK.

Bad battery drain issuse

I had a very similar issue with Cyanogenmod with the Chomp messaging app installed. Uninstalling it solved my problem. Do you have this installed, by any chance? If you go to Settings --> Battery, what do you see sucking up the most power?
I dont have chomp installed, and its showing my screen is taking most the power. The drain even happens when my screens off so i dunno lol. i may just buy a new battery to see if that helps, thanks for the reply though!

I feel your pain. Ive had this problem since the inititial stock ICS update though, not when i switched to cyanogenmod. Long story short, I tried just about every rom and kernel available to no avail.
Turns out the problem was my phone wouldnt deep sleep for very long, even when idle for hours. I reverted back to stock GB 2.3.6 and that seemed to work. I left my phone idle for about 10 hours (During the night and morning) and it only drained 16%. After calibrating the battery it lasted even longer. I know you hate stock, so heres another possible cause/fix: The process mediaserver seems to be draining plenty of peoples batteries. I found the attached .apk somewhere on XDA and its supposed to kill mediaserver and keep it from restarting. I havent tried this personally but it appears to work for other people.
If the kms app doesnt work, take a quick look and see if your phone isnt liking nap time-- If thats your problem, here is the link for stock GB (Rooted, of course). The download contains Odin and the .tar file you need to flash. Dont worry about wiping your data or anything. Just go into download mode and let odin do its work.
Good luck
--Edit--
Found a great ICS rom based on el29 so it will deep sleep. Called The Blu Kuban, I'll post link when I'm home. Fixed my issues and then some, definitely worth trying. Use the Nova launcher not Apex. Much better.

Did some research and the Virgin Mobile model is virtually identical to sprints so those roms will work. The carrier wont know the difference (and the phone either) so the network should be fine. Let me know if the kms worked and/or if u installed a custom rom.
