I've been waiting a while for Miracast products to actually materialize and was disappointed in the reviews of the Allshare Cast dongle. I figured there are probably more people like me who would be interested in this device from Netgear. Hopefully it's the start of many Miracast products soon to be released.

intel just updated there Wi-Di product to 3.5? and it should be backwards compatable with miracast so hopefully in the next generation or two of smartphones this will become prevalent, I'm waiting for miracast and wireless ac to become popular before I upgrade my Phone again. So hopefully that happens at the same time.
what kind of phone do you have right now? the S3 is supposedly compatible with Miracast devices.

Hello, I can confirm that as of right now my stock Galaxy S3 (Verizon) does not work with the Netgear PTV3000 (WiDi 3.5 and Miracast support). However, I think that this feature is supposed to be coming in the form of an update to the phone (may never see it since I'm on Verizon).
There is also rumor of Key Lime Pie supporting Miracast out of the box. I guess we shall see.
I just thought this would help anyone searching for the S3 and Miracast.
Thanks
wow i'm so behind on things. I had no clue what this was. i still dont, i'm going to have to read-up on this...
I'm still trying to see what the use for me will be, since my TV has apps (pandora, hulu, netflix), it's connected to my PC (for anything else, via HDMI) and I can send stuff from my phone already via AllShare...

hi, my tv does not have dlna support (who has one anyway) and i don't want an adapter for dlna, is there a wired solution into bringing hd video to my hdtv?

NO its unfortunate but there appears NOT to be an HDMI cable coming for our phone. The only wired method for video is Composite and maybe S-Video, but that will NOT be HD.
Your best best is DLNA. I would highly suggest getting a device that can run either XBMC or Boxee as both support an always evolving list of codecs, removing any worry of playback though DLNA.
What are you dislikes abut adding a DLNA capable streamer to your TV?
so... i have a brand new 50" 8000 series Samsung plasma that DOES support DLNA. does that mean i can stream video off my phone?!
EDIT: omg! this is awesome. streaming wireless...perfectly! using allshare.

Is this confirmed working with the vibrant? It says needs software update to work, last time I read that was for the dock and it required 2.2.
This again? That cable is old news. It was confirmed to NOT work. Samsung also said themselves that it won't work. Unfortunately, not all areas of the internet have been cleaned up appropriately. The site linked to in post #4 even says it won't work until Samsung makes it work.

Ever heard of doing research before making an ASS out of yourself. What the hell is wrong with you that makes you need to replay to an obviously helpful post with a snide remark? How about you go to the kiddie table until you learn to interact with adults in a proper manner.
Thank you for playing, come again.
I thought about posing this question in the Q&A section but since it is an accessory I thought I’d list it here. Has anyone heard of a planned release date for the Allshare Cast dongle? I saw Amazon is taking orders at $100 saying it “usually ships within 1-2 months” but that’s not exactly precise.

Did you ever find out your answer? I need to buy on of these asap. I saw it on amazon too and it says 1-3 months now. Are they not available in the USA yet? Also I called the Official Samsung Accessories department today and the guy was very helpful, but had NEVER heard of this device. Seriously, I sent him a few links of the device on Amazon and the Review of the device off Engadget. He called me back to let me know, no one there had ever heard of it either.....Weird!
It's available in Poland
From all I've heard it should be last week of August in UK, and I just don't get why we get the high end phones released and announced first over here because we are one of the biggest markets, but Samsung always give us the accessories last and not bother with any firm release dates, I mean a lot of people are already pissed off with lack of Mass storage mode and External App moving so you'd think they'd have enough sense to get the accessories out as quick as possible to divert attention away from everything else they messed up.

Yeah I know what you mean... I mean stupid HTC has there Media Link out already. It does practically the same thing, but from what I have seen, it isnt quite as good. I wonder if it is even compatible with with other android devices. I want the Allshare Dongle because as a teacher I want to use its presentation mode for power point.
Hey guys, one more thing, I also Have a Nexus 7, you think I could install Allshare on the Tab an use the dongle with the tab as well? That would be ideal!
Allshare funcion uses wireless lan (router) to stream only videos, photos and music.
Allshare cast dongle uses Wi-Fi Direct technology to create mirror of the phone on the TV screen (you can also play games). You don't have to be in the area with wi-fi network.
Allshare cast dongle only works with Galaxy S3.

Overall iam kind of disappointed
Hopefully a fw upgrade will correct some or all of the problems

I was at a friend's house this weekend who is totally into iEverything. He has apple TV which can display the screen of his iPad wirelessly (it's called airplay). You know what can't do that? Our S3's! Yes, apple can do something that we can't. Well, there is an answer. Miracast. Only thing is, it isn't very widespread yet. Anyone here know anything about the development of Miracast for the tmo S3? Any ROMs/Kernels support it? Any alternatives? It really is a shame that this doesn't work for us....
Does the new Nexus 7 has the Miracast / Wireless Display setting?
With dual band wifi it should be able to support it but nobody wrote about it yet and it is not in the list of the certified devices :/

Under Display Settings, there is a "Wireless Display" option you can turn on. When you do, your drop down menu now has a "Wireless Display" short cut.
I originally thought this was for the Chromecast, but that is not the case (as it doesn't detect mine). I don't have a Miracast device to test with, but that might be some evidence that it does support it.
Yes, this will be Miracast. Thank you!
Please do report back any successful results with Miracast. Or for that matter, with Slimport to HDMI. I might might upgrade my 1st gen but I'm waiting for the cellular version to launch.

Slimport was confirmed working in one of the mega threads It has pics to prove it and all. I'm sorry I don't have a link but it is confirmed working.
Slimport is definitely there, as it was a key feature advertised by Google.
Hey guys,
I just heard about this little marvel..
http://www.asus.com/Tablet_Mobile_Accessories/ASUS_Miracast_Dongle/
Has anyone try this? I really want some sort of Airplay functionality for my tablet, its around 100$ but if it does what it says it does, i think its worth it.
So, anyone have one?!
Edit: got way to excited and noticed its not release yet... Lol. So who is getting one?

No clue about this guy. I have a Netgear PTV3000 that works pretty well for screen mirroring. I use it for streaming media. For gaming I use the Analogix Slimport since wireless mirroring addsd latency.
Would like to hear people's reviews about the Asus product as well. I guess will have to wait till it's release and someone tries it out.

I'd recommend downloading Allcast Beta
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/12/01/koushs-allcast-beta-enters-the-play-store/
Works for all kinds of devices Smart TV's, Apple TV, Google TV, Roku .... I'm pretty sure any DLNA device as well.

AllCast is definitely a great video streaming option, especially for the cross platform (I have only tested it out on my Samsung TV). But, it is rather limited, at least at this time. Currently, it will only stream videos that are on your phone. It won't display pictures, stream other video services (Netflix, VUDU, etc), or even do mirroring. Hopefully, it will have these features in the future.
As for a mirroring device, I have high hopes for the ASUS Miracast Dongle. Hopefully, the dual bandwidth will cure the latency issues with the current wireless options. Unless I see reviews of it being a complete failure, I will be purchasing one of these.
Anyone seen when these will be released?
$100 for this is just crazy... and people complain about Apple's pricing?
android tv stick is a better choice
i recommend to buy an android tv stick like tronsmart mk908 or t908. it is a standalone pc stick and can even sstream everything via miracast.
it is much cheaper. chromecast or asus dongle are very limited of its functions.
cheers

Im curious to see if this one works as well as they say it does. Just not wanting to be the test rat for it atm... Done my fair share of testing new products.
there was a German poster over at the Asus T100 forums that said the Asus Dongle would not work for him.
i went ahead and bought the Actiontec Receiver from Wally World, works just fine so far, had to update the firmware...good to go.

I remember Best Buy selling the Rocketfish Miracast Video Adapter for $19.99 a while back. This is the cheapest miracast adapter that works with either 2.4 & 5Ghz bands.
