Hi,
I basically want to know if there is any difference between these devices, other than network provider lock.
Can you use the ROMs interchangeably?
I think the tmo model does support att's bands and u can probably interchange roms as well like on the tmo s2 and the skyrocket

We don't know for sure yet that the ROMs will be interchangeable. However, given that most T-Mobile phones support the 850/1900 NAM bands (GSM) needed for AT&T HSPA+, as long as the phone is unlocked it should work fine.

The Galaxy S2 did. Reading the specs page on the Tmobile website, I've come to the conclusion that the bands are identical to the AT&T variant's. I'm going to be doing the same thing.
Will hspa+ work? If so, tmo users who will be paying full price would be better off
Buying from att because its less than tmos full price cost.
Plus wireless tethering would work Because tmo doesn't have imei # of att phone.
Can anyone confim?
i would like to know this as well, paying 549 if a lot better than 639.

FYI only T-MO has HSPA +42 version of the S3 for those looking to buy from At&t.
anyone can confirm this?? does the gs3 from tmo works on att HSPA+ and vice versa and if the tmo gs3 works internationally on 3g networks.
All right, unlocked my T999 galaxy s3, put my AT&T micro sim in phone but I get no data. I can make phone calls no problem.Do I have to do anything with the APN settings?
Thank you!!
You need to make an AT&T APN. Also the AT&T version will not get 3G on T-Mobile without at the very least a modem flash.

O.K. just added a couple ATT apn settings still no data.any other suggestions?
By the way i have a 4g micro sim.Thought Tmobile S3 had ATT hspa+ bands.
Got apn settings from these forums.
Might want to do a lot of research before trying to flash an att ROM on tmo or vice versa. I heard the tmo phones are quad core.

Until recently I have been with Sprint. And I am located in South Florida.
I am considering going with Simple Mobile as I'm told that T-Mobile has one of the best data speeds in this area. And I want to get a Galaxy S3 as the phone to use with this service.
Can anyone here advise as to whether this would work with Simple Mobile (I called them but they won't say anything only that they don't don't support it - meaning they don't sell it so don't bother them), at what speeds?
I also assume that I must get the T-Mobile version of this phone. That seems quite difficult unless I want to pay a big premium to T-Mobile, who charges much more than say AT&T for their version. So if anyone has any suggestions where I can get one (I would prefer a store, not eBay)?
Thanks

edit: nvm just saw you dont have enough posts.
I read that the Sprint variant of the S3 would work on T-Mobile. You just have to unlock the phone I believe.

I remember negri sells the phone for $599 unlocked. That's the cheapest I've seen for the TMobile version. It's not cheaper by much but it's unlocked and you may save on taxes.

My wife is using it on Simple Mobile. It works great.
Simple Mobile is a Mvno of t-mobile so you don't need to have an unlocked T999. Just change the apn. A's far as speeds. I live in Central Florida and I get the same speeds as t-mobile. I recommended. As far as where to buy the phone. I went to t-mobile and paid $599 for it. Haven't really seen it cheaper.

It does have a sim slot but it's not user accessible.
It's hidden behind the plastic under the battery.
Sprint has taken this approach with all there LTE devices.
The only exception may be the Photon Q since it's touted as being a global device.

Hello All,
I'm going to Europe for my honeymoon :highfive: and I'll be visiting Austria, Germany, Italy, and Greece. I have a Verizon Galaxy Note II (SCH-I605) rooted and unlocked (casual) running CleanROM 4.5 and the Perseus 33.4 Kernel.
I'm really confused about the whole SIM card business. I know that if I just go overseas using Verizon as my primary service that I'll go bankrupt. Here are my questions:
1. What SIM card or cards do I need in order to have both data and voice service in those countries? Is there a good one card does all?
2. What is the procedure for using a SIM card? Is there anything special I need to do since my phone already unlocked? Is there a way I could "test" to ensure that it's unlocked
The reason I need to have data is because I will be using GPS a lot in order to find my way around.
I really appreciate the help!!!

I haven't heard of a roaming "add-on". I know that Verizon has a global package but that it's absolutely sky high in cost in comparison to local plans.

Can't be done. T-Mobile is GSM, Verizon is CDMA, incompatible networks.
Straight Talk resells service for the major carriers but for Sprint and Verizon, who are CDMA carriers/networks, you have to get phones compatible with CDMA to use on Straight Talk and vice versa for T-Mobile and AT&T.
ok how about this

Neither the T-Mobile nor AT&T variant will work on Verizon. Period. There isn't an unlock you can do, no ROM you can flash, no special code you can put in to change that fact.
For ST or Net10 to use the Verizon towers you need a CDMA phone, which the M1919 S4 is not. As was mentioned in the post above mine, you DO have the option to run off of T-Mobile or AT&T networks either through the respective carriers or use those towers via Net10 or Straight Talk; but using the Verizon towers in any way is impossible with the particular device you purchased.

Where'd you buy it? I bought mine from TMO and was told I can return it within 30 days for a full refund. As others have posted, you can't do what you want with that phone, period.
Edit: Reread your original post. If you have to have Verizon then the phone you bought won't work. Just like a AM radio won't pick up FM stations. It's that simple. Take it back to Walmart and get a refund. BUT, if you can live with using T-mobile away from home and have wifi at home you can get a T-Mobile plan and use wifi calling and internet access at home, and the TMO network elsewhere. You want to use wifi at home anyway because it doesn't count towards data or calling usage. It's all seamless, so there's no problem using it that way.
Dude seriously I find it hard to believe you don't have Wi-Fi in your home. Because if you do, your problems are solved. Your phone supports Wi-Fi calling and messaging (SMS/MMS). This is why I switched to T mobile.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe the AT&T and T-Mobile variations are able to pick up 100% of each other's bands so this argument is invalid.

If what I read is right I know why that thread doesn't work for you. Metro is CDMA and doesn't use sim until Tmo phases it out and switches them to GSM. You don't have a sim card? Is that right?
You cant unlock metro phones, the s4 I heard was supposed to support gsm and cdma and metro and tmobile are not phasing out each other ....there new upcoming devices are gonna be dual cdma /gsm and back each other on data where metro gets weak data tmobile gsm will cover and vise versa where tmobiles weak metro cdma will pick up coverage. .
Im not sure if the metro s4 has this feature yet
But thats the plan for this metro tmobile merge.

Just to let y'all know:
Yes, the S4 is a GSM phone that uses both the GSM Tmobilr network and the LTE of MetroPCS, giving u the best of both worlds. When u get it thru metro u also get the best price (50 cheaper on the phone and monthly bill is lower too).
Since it is a gsm phone it can be unlocked.
To answer another question, yes u can use any unlocked T-Mobile or att device on metro at this time. The prices of those phones would still be the same monthly bill as a standard metro 4g phone (40 or 50 or 60)
Also, Metropcs does NOT unlock phones, but they accept unlocked phones.

Metro should unlock for u, but will put up a fight no doupt, unless u tell them ur going abroad, and or have a second sim to use. All the gsm carriers csn unlock there own phones. There are unlock sites that will do the job to. the cheaper sites take long time, anything under 10-15. Usually 20-24 csn do within 6-8 hours.
