Thanks. There is a small lip on the front and back so they are protected when putting the phone down.

It does reduce the signal, but so do most if not all metal bumpers.

Sweet review. Thanks.

Would anyone buy a ceramic back cover?

I have been thinking way too much about the finger print catcher battery cover on this phone and started to think...how hard would it be for a company to produce a ceramic battery door for this phone? Would anyone even buy one?

Due to the way that my ceramic coated wedding band will not scratch this would be awesome. I have a feeling though that the ceramic would block signals.

I was just on ebay searching for a different battery cover and I found a carbon fiber and a leather cover I liked. I almost bought it until I looked at the pictures really close and noticed that non of'm had the 2 LTE antenna prongs on them like the US versions. Man that sucks, the leather cover is really nice

Those two prongs are for NFC not LTE

Does changing back cover break NFC?

Anybody knows? On the original back door cover there's these two lil metal dots that look like they connect to the phone when you snap it on. I want to get one of those flip cases but not through Samsung since they charge so much. The third party covers are built the same but are missing the two metal dots.

Yes, the NFC chip is in the back cover, so you would need to buy a cover that has NFC.

Good to know. I guess that's why Samsung want so much. Thank you!

Or just peel it of and put it on your new case since it is a sticker and will peel right off and sick to the new case.

This is true but aluminum covers will not work even if you do this.

You can also buy the nfc chip on ebay for about $4. It will stick right in the stock location.

Metal case

Is there any metal cases for the s4? Not aluminum but real metal
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda premium
well...
first off aluminum is a real metal, so not sure what you mean by that. what metal would you like to see? I haven't seen one that is solid metal. http://www.droid-life.com/2013/04/29/buy-this-metal-back-cover-for-your-galaxy-s4-if-youre-tired-of-the-plastic/
there is one back cover.
the other one I know of is the spigen slim armor, But it is not all metal either. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BW6GIP2
If you have great signal where you're at... awesome, but if you struggle with signal, getting a metal case isn't a good idea from my experience. You may lose a bar or two. I have had more cases than I can count, ordering them like a kid in a candy store, except this time around with the S4. Having had issues before, if you do get one, I'd be interested in how it works for you because I wouldn't mind having a metal case myself.

The spigen has no metal whatsoever. It's polycarbonate and tpu.

My mistake then, I know previous spigen cases have had metal versions in the past. with a quick amazon search I saw it and just assumed.
Hey I actually found one.. It took me a while but they do have a metal case here's the link... http://www.casefanatic.com/samsung-...kommandant-samsung-galaxy-s4-metal-case-case/

I bet that would do wonders for signal strength.

Aluminum Ultra Thin Case

Does anyone have any input on this case?
I read somewhere that it causes signal interference...

it does but only lose about one bar so if your in an area where you only have one or two bars you might have zero bars.I have the case
This case is pretty slick but too bad it causes signal loss
