Question on roms - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello, I was wondering if I could get some advice on a rom. I am new to the s3 and I am looking for a rom that is AOSP, has great battery life, runs jelly bean, little to no bugs, and is being actively developed. I have looked to several roms but there seems to be so many. There one rom that I seen might be good was a rom called super nexus but it looks like it is only on the i9300 not the i747. Any advice would be great and I appreciate your personal opinion. Thank you

Do not flash an I9300 rom on any variant of the I747. It will create a hard brick, as in you will have a Galaxy S3 paperweight.

AOSP ROMs aren't abundant with Jelly Bean yet.
I would recommend the AOKP Rom in Original Development. I'm running on the latest nightly and it is awesome. No bugs, super fast, and I get great battery life.

I would recommend codefirex jellybean nightlies. Fast, stable, and updated regularly.

Best ROM right now?

Hi everyone, just a simple question. I am looking for the best overall ICS rom for the T989 right now. Is it worth flashing now or should I wait for Jelly Bean rom or any other rom? Thanks for the help everyone.

I'm using Darkside Evolution 3 v7 ICS rom and it works flawlessly. Best ICS rom I've ever used.

So far Aokp is my DD right now I like to the stock feeling of ICS and not touchwiz

Ah dissenting opinions! So there is no de facto rom?
That's like asking what the best car is. Its subjective.

Let the flashing begin...
Personally, I've stuck with Darkside Evolution 3 (v7) since its release. Although it looks very stock, it's very stable with an amazing kernel and battery life.
AOKP and cm9 are amazing (I'll be flashing cm9 again once we get our release candidate).
AOKP feels like cm based ROM with a little more to offer but with that being said, neither feel as stable as a stock based ROM for our phones at the present time.
You'll always get a biased opinion so I'd suggest flashing some of the more popular roms by checking each thread and good luck buddy!

I've been wondering the same. Reading through the forums, I determined Darkside Evolution 3 (v7) was the most popular. It took a few flashes before I was able to get it working right on my phone, but it runs similar to stock. The only way you'll be able to tell if you like it is if you give it a try.
aokp..... more tweaks.... less bloats, stable, fast.

Try ParanoidAndroid, this ROM is awesome.

I'm gonna say AOKP. I've tried all of the aforementioned ROMs and I have settled on AOKP because of the amazing battery life, customization and the AOSP theme it comes with. AOKP has also become very stable as of recently, rivaling the stability of Darkside. I used to run Darkside when it first came out, but now I can't get over the very stock feel/look. If you enjoy the tweaking, I would suggest AOKP. If not, then go with Darkside. If you want something in the middle, go with CM.
+1 on AOKP and link is in the sig. Darkside is also a great ROM just depends on your preference of touchwiz or stock. Both are the top ROMs imo.
Either AOKP or anything DARKSIDE.

I find it funny anytime I see one of these threads and find it even funnier when I see how many people answer. Its probably easier to say what not to use....LOL
Lets be honest thousands of people use this forum and if only 20 actually answer this thread I am quite sure all of the dozen or so roms will be mentioned... This question is like mentioned earlier is subjective and no way can you find a definitive answer in here....
I hate stock but there are some advantages to it, I love CM9 but also enjoy some of the tweaks of AOKP... I just load them all up get them to how I like it and nandroid them all... Problem solved
OP good luck but instead of reading our crazy posts get to flashing
AOKP
I am on AOKP Milestone 6. Was gonna try Darkside, but liked aokp and dont see any reason to switch.
There are few things that will not work with AOKP.
1) WIFI calling
2) Audio out via the car dock.
If those are not issues, try it out.

[Q] ROM recommendation

I am purchasing this weekend and would like to put the most stable CM10 Rom on my new Samsung Galaxy III 4G LTE. All suggestions appreciated. Please let me know why you think the ROM you stated is the best.
Thanks.
Right now I am using paranoidKangdroid 1.20. I use it as my daily driver because it has CM10, aokp, and paranoid android, all in one. Very stable too. Definitely the most customizable in my opinion.

Understand though, that with AOSP (CM10) based rom, there are still problems. One which is killing me, you cannot make a proper video due to sound being almost dead, barely any getting through.
I would say to download both touchwiz and AOSP types of roms and to see for yourself which one fits you best. Because of that one problem, I had to compromise and stick to TouchWiz until CM10 (AOKP) find the solution.
I am new to android and started flashing about two months ago. I was flashing all sorts of AOSP ROMs. That was until I tried Task650 and Ktoonsez AOKP 4.1.2 JB. The ROM is unbelievably stable and performs great. Tons of customization available and incredible dev support.
Galaxy S3 AOKP 4.1.2 JB 11/12/12 Build
Task650 Underwear kernel. (Conservative/Noop)

I too use this ROM. I researched for weeks and decided on this. Please read through the thread and you will see some issues people are having and decide how much those things matter to you. I have no issues with it for what I use my phone for.

@OP Although it is good to get opinions, when drastically modifying your $700 device there is no substitute for reading the ROM thread before installing. At a minimum I highly recommend the first page and the last 10 pages of any ROM you are considering.

[Q] Which ROM for my girlfriend?

My girlfriend and I are in a long distance relationship, so I can't really help her when she has problems on her phone. I am currently with her and I've previously had AOKP and CyanogenMod on her phone. While they generally work perfectly fine, there may be issues that I can't easily diagnose from afar. What Touchwiz (non-AOSP) ROM would you guys recommend for long-term stability, optimal battery life, and features. Unlike me, she does enjoy Touchwiz....so using a Touchwiz ROM isn't a problem.
Suggestions?

My first suggestion would be to try several to see which one she likes. If the time isn't available, then I would suggest taking a look at Triune 2. Basically, a debloated stock rom with some custom tweaks. It's what both my wife and I run, though hers isn't as personalized as mine. And if it's important, google wallet works with it.
Try miui, its like android meets iphone and sweet themes. Its probably not the most stable choice though, despite how much it might appeal to the novice android user.
Aokp is very stable, I'm on slimbean right now and its been 100% stable so far. I haven't been on a tw ics ROM since the first few hours I got my gs3 back in july. Drews stock tw jellybean is pretty stable might want to give that a try too.
I've actually been quite partial to DrewGaren's ROM's.... currently Serenity 1.2 based on an AT&T JellyBean ROM for the Galaxy Note 2, and JellyBean747, based on the latest JellyBean leaks/official builds from other carriers.
As for custom ICS TouchWiz ROM's.... haven't really used one in a while since i'm hooked on JB... but i did quite like kyanROM.
I really want her to have JB as she currently has it and surely doesn't want to go back to ICS. I'll do a nandroid and have her try out the DrewGaren ROMs first and see if she likes those. Thanks!

Well heads up if your talking d g stock tw jb rom im on it and yes its good but read through some of the few pages myself and a few members are talking about..
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
Right now there's now perfectly stable stock touchwiz jb ROMs for our s3 yet as far as I'm aware, and may venture to say the aosp ROMs are more stable and have less issues. I may be wrong as I havent tried too many tw jb roms but have read quite a bit. Ariel 2.10 is a rock solid tw ics build and the upgrade to jb is minor enough I can't see why your girlfriend would mine it until a better tw jb ROM is out.

I kid I kid. Wannalite is a ICS stable TW rom. Either that or MIUI. But its still experiancing some growing pains and not quite 100 percent stable.
I'm running JB TW from TeamInsomnia with Ktoonz kernel with absolutely no issues.
Turn your gf into a flashaholic!! Lol

[Q] what ROMs are solid/safe

Just left my galaxy d2vzw and flashed an unofficial 10.1 it broke data to where I had 1x to nothing.. I flashed every ROM even Odin back stock root66 reprovision my sim. even got a new one and still no no more than 1xrtt to nothing..
Last time I was on my nexus I loved gummy and AOKP.
Any suggestions?
4.1, 4.1.2, 4.2.1
Which ROMs solid for each?
how broken is 4.2.1?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
its a nexus device, no need to hack anything to get 4.2.1 running, so 4.2.1 isnt broken at all. every rom listed in the development section is safe. you can even compile 4.2.1 from aosp yourself and run it if you wanted to. recommendations.. try out a bunch, find whats good for you. there are no bad roms.
Xenon HD is stable and fast..xylon is great as well..both 4.2.1

see, the problem with these kinds of threads start with this statement. best rom there is according to whom? i dont even think its close to the best rom. in fact, to me its rather bloated. best rom is subjective. every person has different needs, so every person has their own ideas to what best is. there is no best rom, theres only the best rom for you.
Stock ROM, most solid and safe, can't go wrong.
all the 4.2.1 roms i have tried are stable.. so try them and stick with the one YOU like

[Q] Stable Verizon Galaxy Nexus ROM for girlfriend

My girlfriend has been using a few custom roms that I've flashed for her on her nexus, but shes been having multiple SOD's and random restarts and other stability issues on 4.2.1 roms (tried a few). I would like to know the most stable rom/kernel combination that you have used in the past, 4.1.2 is preferable if the stability is better. Just basic rom features is all she needs, but stability and speed is most important, I feel pretty bad for giving her roms with some issues that I haven't experienced on my sgs3.
Thank you all for the help
If you are looking for stability and simplicity go with mmuzzy French vanilla rom. Its smooth and stable. If u want stable with mods go with carbon rom. Its fast smooth and good on battery life.

Thank you, I'm going to try flashing MMuzzy toro tonight and see how that works out
stock
yeah get her on 4.1.2 before she complains that you "broke" her phone lol. anyways i only use 4.1.2 roms right now, and i can tell you that jb sourcery 3.1 and liquid smooth 2.0 RC9 have both been straight shooters with great performance and not a single SOD in either of them
I just flashed MMuzzy's French Vanilla rom and my word is this thing awesome. Almost indistinuishable from stock. I wish I had a friend who had the GSM Gnex so we could compare features.
If you are looking for a few more features without losing stability I strongly recommend Nexus Evolution. The current version is from Jan 4 and a new version is likely to come out today or at least very soon

Thanks for all the responses I will be flashing a few of these tonight
If you want a daily driver, use stock (deodexed and rooted for customization)
Xenon is definitely my favorite.

I wouldn't recommend bugless. BuglessPete hasn't updated it since Nov, so it is still 4.1.1.
I would recommend stock, rooted, deodexed. If you want features, then MMuzzy has been quite stable for me.
I just flashed Carbon V1 over XenonHD and it's running pretty smoothly. A lot of the 4.2 and mostly all of the 4.1 ROMs are pretty stable overall.
