LED notification.... - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Does the Gnex have an LED notification light? I have yet to see one.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

Sure does. Its below the display. RGB too.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium

The notification light in Gnex is one of my favourite options in the phone. Some ROMs provide full customization of the notification light ( ex. Paranoid android) . I've set it to flash blue for missed calls , yellow for SMS, green for whatsapp and red for tango

It only lights up when the screen is off?

Correct

When I first got it I actually did not know that it had a LED notification light. I got a phone call and noticed the light and I was amazed and I immediately loved my phone more

Mine only works with Light Flow. Stock or on a rom, no workie.

The rom has to support it, and you have to manually set it up...

I installed light flow. That's how I found it. I'm running Affinity rom and have not seen it work before. Maybe the rom doesn't support it.

Lightflow has been really flaky for me (misses many notification events). The built-in settings in CM10 works best. I don't recall it missing anything.

Except for receiving a phone call . It lights when the screen is off or on. That's at least what my phone does with PA rom

I love how I makes it pulse when I charge my phone.
--------------------------------------------------
If I have helped you.... hit that sexy thanks button. ^_^

Yup, didn't know there was one also. I got the point of thinking... maybe the VZW version just doesn't have one :crying:
And then it happened...:victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory:

Galaxy Nexus + LightFlow has been a great combination for me. The RGB LED notification is a must for me with any future phones.

is a full on Rom the only way to customize it? Only thing id really like to see, is for it to pulse a bit faster. The length in time it takes to pulse is too long imo. I could turn the phone on an look faster than it would take for me to stare at that point and see if there is a message.

use lightflow.

Must have been something with the Affinity rom. I loaded CNA and it works as its supposed to, plus its customizable.

Notification lights

Sorry if this has been addresses....search sucks on the xda app.....what app do we use to have our capacitive buttons work as the notification light?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
You need to have a kernel that supports BLN and download the BLN app from the market.
Dark side support it?
Edit: it works.....thanks alot....just came from epic 4g touch......missing my led notification light

That is not possible with our phones, there's only one LED board for all 4 buttons, not one for each of the 4.....

I like the four touch buttons lighting up. It looks cool. Better than a regular notification light in my opinion
Damn right it is.....my epic touch with the light had 3 colors you can modify per notification.....I still like this phone better..... be nice if we had the same amount of developers the epic touch has

But therefore it is turning the screen on and off, but in parts. Plus most, if not all, of our phones have CRT Off, which does use most/all of the pixels.
I used NoLED for a few days, switched to the paid version of BLN afterwards.
I tried both NoLED and BLN. NoLED was cool for a while, but BLN in the end is the best alternative for notifications.

So is that bad for our screens? ..to have only certain pixels light up? There is an option to have a white bg instead of black...

Charging LED app for the Galaxy Nexus

I found an app in the market that uses the LED for charging! All I can say is awesome. Red while charging and blue when charged. This should be standard on the Gnex. Works great!

I use Lightflow Pro and works very good on my Gnex. I can choice led color, blinking speed and duration of every notification for all programs (like Handcent SMS, WhatsApp, Gmail...). Simply the best.

So I gave it a go and it does what it says it does requires no permissions that you would find odd (only asks for vibrate because it has an option to vibrate when charged) so yeah if you don't want all the flash and extra that comes with lightflow I'd say give it a go
Awesome

Probably not much since it should only awaken the phone when you receive a notification but should lie dormant until then or run in the background like Google services.

Yeah my only gripe with Lightflow is even after you dismiss an alert it stills keep popping up from time to time.

[REQ] Speed up LED Notifications in Jelly Bean

So, I've been running Jelly Bean for the past few days, and I'm loving it. It's been a little tough coming from AOKP and not having all the features, but I know they're working hard. I've noticed that LightFlow isn't working quite right yet with Jelly Bean. I was wondering how hard it would be for someone to make a zipthemer or a flashable .zip to change the LED notification on/off duration. I was thinking blinking every .5 to 1 second. Anyone else with me? Thanks in advance!

I'm finding light flow hardly works at all. On rare occations it would work and that would be if i reset the app and have a persistent icon. I'm really missing this app too. I hope the developer fixes it or someone else gives us an alternative. It's one of those apps id gladly pay $5 dollars for, possibly $10 if it was flawless.
light flow was fixe last week, and it is jelly bean compatible. works fine for me (v. 3.0.4) :good:

Light flow is not working at all for me,
I run the debuger widget and the light flow notification widget and they indicate that the app simply does not pick up any of my notification.
I have tried everything i can think of to get it to work, like removing other apps that i suspect may be interfering but no luck.:crying:
For those who have issues, you can try trackball alert, available on play store.

with the paid for version of LightFlow, you can do that. it can be set to keep the LED on till you go screen on, manual clear, or app entered for a given LED alert.

Can anyone test my new beta app?

Hi guys, I already posted here, but now I changed some code in my flashlight app (Lanterna), yeah it's in Portuguese, I'm Brazillian. Can anyone just download my APK, install and test if led is turning on? I just tested on my Nexus 4, and I don't have a Galaxy Nexus.
Thanks, sorry for bad English..

Thanks, I've thinked it's because Galaxy Nexus require the .startPreview, like Galaxy Tab require this.. Can anyone download Z Device Test on Play Store, go to LED and see if Galaxy Nexus support "torch", Thanks if anyone can do this!

If you are a dev, do you know another way than using the Camera API, and setting the LED to Torch?
