Hello guys,
Today my One X crashed and I had to wipe it in order to recover it
All my data is gone!
I do have a few day old Nandroid but can't restore it!
It says MD5 mismatch.
Any possibility to fix that?
I want my text messages and app data back...
Thanks

i heard this works after a good search through sum threads there is also

Did you rename the back up and insert spaces?
Nandroids can't have spaces in them
so instead of having viper 2.7
you'd have viper2.7
etc

I used this method (someone posted it before you guys on a German forum)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397805
Worked fine

[Q] Noob question about md5 sums

I am running Juggernaut v5.0 and recently did a backup. I wpied my phone and tried one of the ICS ports to see if i was happy with the build or wanted to wait for the official build (whenever that will be)...I ended up restoring my backup just fine. The following day i restored back to stock for some reason and when i rerooted my phone i tried to restore from the same backup and recieved "md5 mismatch"...i searched and found a few solutions to my problem and used this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606047 with no worries...i was just curious as to what would causes the mismatch in the first place as ive used it before to restore my phone?

it could be anything from changing or deleting folders/ files or any other "changes" that it was not there previously
You usually get those by changing the file name sometimes on some roms it's best to delete itto save space if you get it then redo it without naming it just have to remember the one it is lol

now I got it: you want to try to "restore" a nandroid backup taken on someone else's phone...? I'm not sure if this will work as I know that CWM seems to be very sensitive regarding the backup files - but I'm not absolutely sure about that (and sorry: no sense ROM here to try with)

even if it won't work, i want to try i tried every freakin guide, no success. so, if someone can provide me a nandroid backup of his own, i would much appreciate it. sense or no sense. i would any backup. can you help me?
I used to restore backups from my phone to my girlfriends phone all the time, it works fine but one thing I'd recommend is that if anyone is willing to do this make sure the backup is from a freshly wiped phone that hasn't been signed into a Google account or has any phone numbers saved etc etc as a nandroid contains a full snapshot of the phone including all personal details.

sorry, but I really don't have any time to do that as it has to be done without any personalization as scratch already mentioned (I even have no time to flash my own Willy atm)
Sure, I'll get you one.
Just give me an hour or two to do a data wipe, backup and upload to Mediafire.
Alright, here you go.
Extract it to /clockworkmod/backup/

Sorry I didn't post 'till now. The nandroid backups didn't work. MD5 missmatch!
Have u changed the backups name? Then u get a md5 mismatch. Search the web to redo the md5 code on your backups and all is good.

yep, IIRC the backup has to reside in /clockworkmod/backups/<the-date-and-computer-time-of-the-backup> and the filenames must remain the same. Not sure about it but couldn't it also be a problem to use different versions of CWM?
i always rename my backups! by the way,he is talking about the 2 nandroids myself and lesicnik sent him from our phones respectively!!

I've read somewhere about restoring problems and someone mentioned that renaming could end up in CWM not finding the backups anymore (thus this has nothing to do with the md5 sum of course). It's probably depending on the version...?
Yep i know that you two made those backups - therefore my suggestion with the cwm versions...
Perhaps the files were corrupted during download (just to make sure: did you pack them? That might give issues, too, due to different packing/compression modes).

I've recalculated md5 and the phone started restoring. But im the middle of the restore process the phone restarts in cwm. Could the internal memory have a fault or something?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
for the nand i sent you, event may be correct regarding version issues!! i use cwm 5.0.2.0 and you need a ext partition. you already said you dont use mtds so your internal memory should be ok providing you are of course making full wipes prior to flashing?
R.V.3 (MokeeOs)
didn't worked with 5.0.2.0 either. tomorow i will sell it for a low price just to escape from this stress. thank you all for the help you gave.

adb backup if you're not rooted.
If rooted then titanium backup pro best app available for tasks like this. Has a batch feature to backup what you need and restore again also you can save your backup to dropbox.

It is somehow helpfull, but still:
It works for all user installed apps flawless.
BUT i cannot complete it for system apps! For none of them! It doesnt give me an error or so, it (the progress bar) just freezes when trying to backup sys apps....
My phone is of course rooted...

[Q] MD5 Mismatch!

Hello guys,
I recently did a backup in CWM of the peoples ROM(CWM 5.x.x.x). Afterwards i renamed the backup to something else with a file manager. Well I was messing around with another installed ROM at the time, the paranoid android jelly bean one and decided to do a restore in CWM 6.0.1.5 and when i choose the one i renamed it's telling me MD5 mismatch. Is there anyway to restore this backup?
Thanks.
Yup. First don't rename backups unless it is with ROM Manager. Second google md5 mismatch backup rename and a few solutions pop up. I wish I could help more but don't rememberthe exact procedure.

thanks, i searched and it led me back to here to one thread which led to another thread with one guy saying you cant have spaces in the backup name. Well i had one space and a damned apostrophe! lol. Got rid of both and my backup is currently restoring fine. Good to know!
Thx.
You are lucky. My first time I tried renaming it back to exactly what cwm made and still got the md5. Glad the easy way worked for you.

Nandroid Backup

Hi everyone,
I'm having issues with Nandroid backup and restore.
After flashing ARHD 17.1 from 17.0 without wiping, everytime I make a backup it says that there was an error backing up /system and when I you try to restore it, it says MD5 mismatch.
The latest backup that I was able to use was using the backup before I flashed 17.1.
Is there any way I could fix this without wiping? I'm on a vacation right now and don't have a computer handy.
Hope you can help me out! Thanks and advance happy new year!

Its always advisable to wipe data and cache b4 flashing the old backup or a new rom...its always good and prevents many issues...!!
U need a computer to solve the md5 sum mismatch error....after that if your backup is genuine (without problems) then it ll surely work..just some commands to execute...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
Scroll through the first post and you will find the proper commands..!!
Cheers..!!
Thanks! Will try that when I return home from vacation.
I just read from the ARHD forum that you can flash without wiping if coming from another version.
How about my apps and their data? I not really sure if everything's backed up. How can I make sure?

You can backup the apps and their data by using titanium backup from the playstore..! i guess thats your best bet as you dont have computer handy...!! make backup by titanium backup and then upload the backup to some good cloud sharing sites and when your problem gets solved you can restore that backup..!!

Hmm, if you rename the backup with spaces, you'll get an md5 mismatch during restore, but no idea why you get one during backup.

That's what have heppened to me, MD5 mismatch, but after removing spaces from the name of the backup I was able to restore it.
Where does Nandroid save the backups? I might have to check.
Also, how do I use titanium backup? I don't know what option to select.
Hope you can help me out.

Just go to backup/restore (middle tab)
Then tap on the icon in upper right-hand corner, then you can select e.g. backup all user apps + system data.
Restore in the same manner. :good:
Thanks! So that's how you back things up! I was just running the 2 items under schedule and I'm not sure if that's it.
Thanks again and happy new year!
