After a hard day of extra testing, we're proud to announce Nvflash for TF300.
This release allows unlocked devices to create a set of device-specific files that lets you access nvflash.
Once the procedure is done, you will always be able to recover any software brick (even bootloader!) as long as you keep your files safe!
NOTE:
THIS REQUIRES A NON-BRICKED AND UNLOCKED DEVICE. IT WON'T WORK ON ALREADY BRICKED DEVICES
THIS ONLY WORKS IF YOU HAVE A PRE-JB BOOTLOADER
More details at http://androidroot.mobi/?p=480
Important note: License: Due to the nature of wheelie and the importance of people always using the latest version, Wheelie is NOT redistributable! You are allowed to download it and use it, but you are not allowed to redistribute it in any way - this means no GUI's including it, no reposting zips/tar.gz's and similar! At a later date, we will be releasing our source code and relicense it as GPL.

Nice, I'll have to give this try. Its good to have a safety net.
So once I have generated the files and have NvFlash working, would I be able to then flash the new JB from Asus and then use the NvFlash files to go back to ICS bootloader?
PS: This thread should be pinned.

Yes! Once you have these files, you can move back and forth between any rom/bootloader you desire. ASUS can do nothing to prevent it once you have the files for your device!
It also essentially makes your device brick proof (assuming you carefully follow our guide and do the backups!), so development gets a lot more safe
Yyyeeeeeahhhhh
THIS IS AWESOME!! Thank you guys so much for all your hard work.
I followed the process as explained in the guide and everything went perfectly.
For anyone there still on the fence... give it a go! The whole process takes 2-3 minutes. Just make sure you don't skip any step of the process and keep your generated files in 3 or 4 different locations (thumbdrive, cloud, external HD and the TF300 in my case).
Kudos to all of you again!
Now I am really pissed that I took the JB updated
Gold job

Even working perfectly on the TF300TG(!) used windows 7 x64 for the whole process...
There are any hopes working nvflash for JB BOOTLOADER? Or is it impossible?

You need to be on ICS Bootloader...so yes,if you updated to Jelly Bean using the OTA or the official rom from Asus site you CAN'T use this.

Please don't abuse me because I may have missed any pertinent discussion but is there any thing in the works to eventually develop this to be workable with the JB Kernels and mods? :fingers-crossed:
I would guess there will be a way to downgrade and at this point you will be fine

Sorted in APX mode and installing drivers now!
Sweet backed up all files to Laptop/Tablet/Drive/Dropbox!
Not sure how to use NVFlash but at least I know its there if required!
I followed all the steps to the letter (I think) because everything worked up to and included generated the 5 files (blob.bin, blob.log, bootloader.ebt, create.bct, recovery.bct) which I saved to like 4 places lol, but I can't seem to get into APX mode. When ever I hold volume up and power I just end up in CWM recovery. Am I missing something?

Ok thanks that worked. Now I am in APX mode, which driver do I point it at? It's not finding the driver automatically.
Edit: nevermind I had the driver, just needed to point to the right folder to install it. #facepalm

Thanks OP worked great!
Why would you upload mirrors when Google themselves are hosting the files? Wouldn't it be more reliable to just download straight from Google?
Also, I'm assuming that they'll be updating the recovery images for each official update as well... Meaning your mirrors would be outdated soon anyway. Just a thought.
Thanks anyway though, these will come in useful!
Google's package is compressed in tgz and comes with sh script, also doesnt include fastboot windows.
I put all necessary utils together with a bat script so user can just double click and restore.

I'd prefer the Google Images untouched to be honest.
Guys, a little OT question, but I don't want to open a new thread just for a noobish question:
How could one actually brick the GNex? Is it possible to brick the GNex so serious that it won't even get recognized by fastboot?
If not, it's literally unbrickable. If yes, what would I need to do to brick my phone like that? Just wann know so I can NOT do it

You could do what my idiot brother did to my Nexus S. Format /boot from Clockwork mod (under the storage options I believe) and then turn the phone off. The only way to unbrick it is to send it to Samsung, or the guy on XDA who runs that company that uses JTAG to fix it (which is what I did)

I wouldnt flash this on LTE model. I have heard it comes with different radio and stuff (obviously)
Well recently I wanted to COMPLETELY redo my XOOM in anticipation of the Jelly Bean update. I've been around Android for awhile now so it was something I'm accustomed to doing and I didn't think it would be a problem. To make a long story short, I did have a big problem and realized there wasn't really one easy, simple, automated way (with comprehensive instructions) to get a XOOM back to its factory state. I tried to solve this a little bit by making a ZIP package to return a XOOM to stock.
Here's a quick rundown:
-ONLY works for wingray (US XOOM WiFi-only/MZ604)
-Works coming from any ROM, etc. as long as your bootloader is unlocked
-Flashes the original factory software that the XOOM ran (yes that's right, Honeycomb)
-Works on Windows or Linux
-Will relock your bootloader and therefore wipe your data - this gets you COMPLETELY back to stock, folks!
There is a more comprehensive list of information and step-by-step instructions in a readme file found within the ZIP (named README.txt). READ IT before doing anything!
Once you do this it will only take 15-20 minutes to run through all the OTAs if you're looking to upgrade to the latest stock ROM. Hope this helps some people out!
DOWNLOAD HERE: http://www.mediafire.com/?etw97xdi5x1fhf2
Forgot to mention, thanks to Motorola for providing the stock images and Google for the fastboot software!
If you guys have questions, comments, requests, etc. feel free to post them of course!
Thank you very much for posting it! I am about to sell my Xoom and wanted to deliver it stock.
I was just wondering if anyone has tested it as well.
Thanks again!!
I always backup boot and system right after an OTA (need to flash CWM recovery first) - and before applying root.
Prior to taking a subsequent OTA, restore those partitions and let it fully boot - this will overwrite recovery to stock.

Thanks!
In order to get it working I had to reorder the flashing of system and recovery (system first, then recovery), else I got an error.
Flashed it on my Mac by the way. The shell script didn't work out of the box for some reason, but executing the commands in the file with the "./" part skipped and the mentioned reordering it worked flawlessly.
Going to try this later.

You can try this. I believe it's the original Honeycomb that came with the Xoom when it was first released. I say I believe it is because it's been a long time since I've been on stock and I'm not really sure if this is ICS or Honeycomb. But, I did a bit of searching though before posting this and from what I can find, the wifi only version of the Xoom was released in Feb of 2011. If you drill down through the zip and check the properties of the files, you'll see the date modified is March 10, 2011. So, I have to assume it's Honeycomb. If you want to give it a try, I uploaded it to my dropbox. Here's a link to the file. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/67672751/MZ604_HWI69.zip
Sorry I can't be sure on this but it's been a long time since I downloaded it. I have things organized pretty good though and it's definitely for the wifi only xoom. I can tell you that.

Update - Nvflash is now released. See post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31756256
We (AndroidRoot.Mobi) have been working on bringing nvflash to the TF300. This is now a reality.
Before we release, we want to test it a bit more to weed out any potential issues. We have already tested on some devices, but just to be on the safe side.
So in short, we need testers with a TF300 that is:
* Unlocked
* Running ICS with ICS bootloader
* Host PC running linux or Windows and able to install necessary drivers and find necessary tools.
We prefer people able to join the #asus-transformer irc channel on irc.freenode.net, because realtime makes testing easier!
Unfortunately, nvflash won't be possible for people who already upgraded to the official JB release (unless someone finds a way to downgrade to ICS rom & bootloader). Once you have nvflash on your device, it's safe to upgrade.
Is there any chance you will be able to get it working on the new bootloader eventually?
What do you expect from testers...
I have limited time, but can test.

We expect you to:
a) be on IRC so we can talk to you.
b) be on the ICS bootloader, and have not accepted the official OTA for JB (because this includes the new bootloader)
c) flash a custom bootloader as per our instructions (pre-tested)
d) generate nvflash blobs that you will be able to use to gain nvflash access (no impact on your current rom)
It's really not that hard.
i may be willing to help try this out, but after sumtin like this gets released do you think the ubuntu dev's will begin to port over dual boot linux now that we will have nvflash, i mean isnt that why we cant have linux dual boot yet because we had no nvflash. but wever i am on stock ics rooted, and bootloader unlocked. no custom recovery though.

canonical do not port ubuntu to devices like this, only third parties like myself do, and part of the problem is lack of device.

Lilstevie's statement is quite accurate, however, one thing nvflash does bring is the ability to play with a hell of a lot more things without fearing that you could brick your device!
This is really the beauty of having nvflash. Pretty much no matter what you do (software wise), you can always recover!

About the same risk as flashing a new ASUS rom.
Our mods are well tested on TF201 so it definitely does work. The biggest risk is if something goes wrong during flashing (e.g. before you have nvflash files), you're hardbricked. (ASUS can fix it of course, but..)
So in short, things to make sure before trying anything like this:
That both APX and fastboot drivers are installed [Windows only]
That you have working fastboot tool available
That you don't use a dock while doing it.
That device is fully charged.
The above minimizes the risk considerably!
To bad I'm on that stupid JB bootloader... Had I just searched better for it. I would almost sell the Tablet to get a new one! xD And to try this and help.

No bricks so far.
We had some bricks on TF201, where people deviated from the guide and hardbricked.
Flashing bootloader is dangerous by nature - but so far our modified bootloaders has worked at least as well as non-modified ones.

Any of the A100 talent, have the A110?
It's a decent machine for the price. It goes for around 150, comes with 8gb internal, expandable to 32g via micro SDHC, 1gig of RAM, Tegra 3 quad core @ 1.2ghz.
Only current issue, no recovery (I believe the recovery and kernel are combined), root method or ROMs available for this beast. There was a root tool for 4.1.1, but some have updated (for better ui enhancements) to 4.1.2, and there's no root option for it.
Just wondering if any of the A100 talent have this, it would be great to see this thing unleashed!
Sorry if anyone is upset about this being the wrong category/thread... Unfortunately, XDA has no dedicated thread for the A110, at this time.

No I went with a nexus 7, no unlocking is a deal breaker right off the bat with me. Plus I heard they didn't upgrade the screen or battery in it, two things I hated about the a100, and were also deal breakers for me.

Unlocking the BL is easy on the A110. I did it with adb.

Will it use an update.zip that's been changed if its unlocked?

Wouldn't know, there is an os upgrade file on acers page, the same image name as my current version (after updating to 4.1.2), can that be renamed to update.zip, modded and flashed? I've not used a stock recovery before lol.

Yes it's a zip, 54MB in size, just an update from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2.

Then do a quick signature test, add a random file into it then see if it flashes or not. Doesn't matter how big or what it is.

Need to add a new source for the A110 to get developers. Its still a new tab but the down side is the battery sucks and they never change the screen angle. I guess to keep it in the $200 mark. Then again the nexus 7 has no micro sd port, hdmi port, but the screen is so clear and it support otg.

I tried to add the Superuser.apk to the /system/app and SU to the /system/bin, but it gives a corruption error. I'll have to completely unzip it, add the files and re-zip in order to add them.
But to work in the stock recovery, I assume it would need to be renamed to update.zip, and placed on the internal /sdcard?

Did you make it? I am waiting to root my A110 as well.
OK well let's see. Is there a twrp or something for a510? I can see about making a twrp but its extremely risky without some precise information since I don't have one to even look at for information. I'll be somewhat willing to work a little to get it opened up but you'll all need to do the homework and be willing to test it. Recoveries are very dangerous potential brickers.
Or someone that owns one can do it.
Or someone can send me one. I'm not willing to sell my n7 for what I consider a downgrade (battery and screen), especially when I just started working on deving on it lol

I did make it, haven't used a auto-signer on the zip yet. Got a bit busy with family being over, for new years. So no I haven't attempted a flash yet; not that I believe this will actually root the device, as the updater-script/binary won't have been updated.

I'm willing to test/give any and all info you may need. I figured a decent starting point might be from the download on Acers page, but I could be wong. I'm completely ignorant on porting a recovery. There is a dev that wrote a tool kit for the a110, but it only rooted 4.1.1. On 4.1.2 all it's capable of (at this time) is unlocking the BL. Some method of rooting was patched (from what I've gathered so far) in 4.1.2, so the tool kit was using some form of (now patched) exploit.

pio_masaki,
Did you run into "loop" files in the /dev/block when using a custom recovery, during early builds for the A100?
Something is changing the devices when the custom recovery is loading, preventing us from even mounting /cache. The devices are listed as loop1, loop2, loop3 etc. Seem familier at all?

Yeah, just get ignored so they don't show up in recovery, you'll see them in android, though.
Iirc I saw its using initramfs or wtf ever Sammy uses, which will require more work on recovery inits.

Did you OVER THE AIR =O.T.A. update YOU CAN still Root/RECOVERY BUT YOU MUST DOWN GRADE FIRST AS OF MAY 2013
This works on all Canadian variants of the lg optimus g 2600 lte phones.
If you root you can not OTA update.
If you root and flash to any version of jellybean OTA= over the air update is no longer needed.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU ERASE YOU FAMILY HISTORY OR REMOVE YOURSELF FROM THE GENE-POOL
I did not develop or create this i just merged it so it would work.
USB debugging must be turned on found in settings then development check-mark USB debugging then plug in you phone LG drivers must be installed found here http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?3p6u1bq776bdbzi
If you have issues with getting in to recovery i did try QUICKBOOT found here http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?g4g37gwd6y99urb or download from Google play
1. Download: lg e971.zip http://d-h.st/HsU
2. Extract it
:cyclops:Update not tested i have added the files to e971.zip or download the the ZV9-ZVB-Universal-Root Posted by fiddy619 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181103
ZV9-ZVB-Universal-Root Update run CurrentRoot.bat first if it works go to freegee.bat then continue to step 8.
3. Run: RunMe.bat ignore restore instructions skip with back button
4. Run: Root.bat
5. Download busybox from the market and install it then run it
6. Transfer: cwm6027touch_v14.4.6_geebus.zip in the found LG e971 folder to your internal SD-card not in a folder in main directory.
7. Run: Freegee.bat once complete you are now ROOTED with CUSTOM RECOVERY
NOTE: This CUSTOM RECOVERY DOSE NOT WORK WELL AT ALL continuing with next step to update the custom recovery.
NOTE: To enter custom recovery shut phone off then press vol up+down+power at the same time you will see fastboot hit vol down twice you won't see anything happen on the fastboot screen hit power it will reboot to custom recovery.
8. Install zip from internal SD-card look for cwm6027touch_v14.4.6_geebus.zip in your main directory then flash it.
Now you can flash ANY Stock 4.1.2 ROM OR 4.01 ROM
Recommendation for Rogers use this Stock 4.1.2 Jelly Bean LG-E973/1/5/0 Canada / At&t / Int'l Edition found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2127346 Thank houstonn for this if you want to donate http://forum.xda-developers.com/donatetome.php?u=4852479
:cyclops:UPDATE: CM10 based roms will boot loop or just not boot due to a partition issue you must downgrade to shipped revision d not e kdz then full root/boot loader unlock then flash what you want. :cyclops:
FYI I bricked my phone once then restored it just to get this done.
After 10 hrs of playing around with all i could find in the forums i found this to work.
I have repeated these steps on 3 more phones for other owners and it works great.
Now i have no bloatware removed LG-Ui removed LG Email and Google Mail using enhanced email for faster push intervals Full nova launcher custom kernel and pimped with pimp my ROM for added tweaks and flashed g-now
IF YOU BRICKED OR WISH TO RESTORE OR DOWNGRADE
:cyclops:NEEDED FOR ANY CM10-ASOP/AOKP ROMS
E97110D_00.KDZ downgrade here http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?rhe7im3hbznow5t
:cyclops:NEEDED FOR ANY JELLY 4.1.2 ROMS
E97110E_00.KDZ O.T.A. update here http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?rkyevf6rrmypdwr
Put your Optimus G into Download Mode by switching it off, attaching the usb cable to the phone, holding both the up and down volume buttons at the same time and lastly inserting the usb cable into the computer; wait for the drivers to finish loading if doing it for the first time.
Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe. Use the settings below
Type: 3GQCT
Phone Mode: CS_Emergency
Navigate to the folder which you have saved the downloaded KDZ file
Click Launch Software Update and wait for the flash process to finish
Your phone will restart itself when complete
If you get stuck on the lg logo perform a factory reset volume down power at the same time release power at logo hold volume until you see factory reset then power twice
This proses is the same for downgrade E97110D_00.kdz is the downgrade file and is necessary to flash and run any CM10 based rom because of partition settings and if you downgrade root and fregee is all that you need and i recommend the downgrade its more compatible with custom roms
NONE OF THE SOFTWARE USED IS MINE AND FOR THOSE WHO CREATED IT I THANK-YOU FOR YOU CONTINUED WORK AND DEDICATION if you know who they are and this helped donate to them not to me THANK-YOU

My 2 Cents= "If you asked for free advice and got what you paid for ? don't complain."
1st. Never upload something to dropbox if you want to distribute on public. It will rape your bandwidth allocation and you will get a warning and your dropbox public download will be cutted.
2nd. You didnt need to include your own backup file. Freegee will do the backup anyway and this might be confusing to the user if it says it failed but still have the backup done. This will also decrease significantly the size of the archive.
3rd. There is no developement done here. it's simply a re-zip of multiple package already found in this forum.
thanks for the info on drop box
and i did not claim it was anything i created or developed other than a workaround and the back up is from the developer of freegee and has been removed.
Wow

Happy to report that I am rooted thanks to the info provided here!!
I am currently running an unlocked E971(Rogers) on the bell(E973) network.
Software Version: E97110e (latest 4.0.4 firmware for E971)
Thanks for the Thread!
THIS THREAD NEEDS MORE ATTENTION!!!!
QUICK AND EASY ALL IN ONE ROOT AND BOOTLOADER UNLOCK WITHOUT A NEED TO DOWNGRADE SOFTWARE, OR DO ANY KDZ WORK OF ANY KIND! (something I still am unsure how to do)
Thanks a TON kentek. I put off rooting this phone and unlocking the booloader because of all the software downgrading and different soft brick possibilities with OTA's and other things. This made things SUUUUUPER easy.
It almost scary how easy it was, lol. I think you should include a little bit more information in the OP however. Things like "USB debugging" must be turned on. Even instructions on how to boot the phone into recovery. Personally I use quick boot. Maybe recommend people root first, then install QuickBoot before unlocking with freegee, as an easy way to get into the CWM that freegee installs. Then you can use quickboot to get into recovery and update it to sk8ers touch recovery (the BEST recovery ive ever used across numerous devices.)
Anyway..... Thanks again kentek, and hopefully more people who were having trouble, or like me, hesitant to do anything, will see this thread and have their freedom granted as quick and easy as I did.
SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTT!!!!!!!
ATRIXXIRTA I took your advice and did just that thank you for the props.
? Hows the weather up there still no snow here.
Re: Rogers e971 Root with update work around found and bootloader unlock with cwm upd
Ahhhh. Now THATS an OP! lol.
With the explanation so thorough now, nobody should have any issues. Just the more in-depth info about how freegee works. One of the things I was trying to find out was whether or not freegee replaced your recovery. Even the video on the freegee official thread doesn't explain ANYTHING. Just shows the guy booting into recovery, with no mention of the replacement cwm touch. You've pretty much made it fool proof now!
The weather here has been ridiculous. Its +12 one day, -10 the next. Its plague weather for sure, lol. Its funny, I'm literally on my way to Niagara right now as I type this. So I'll be passing through your neighborhood in about an hour, haha. I'll check out your weather as I pass through, lol.

To the OP, I wanted to thank you for posting all the information in an easy to follow manner. I can confirm that I am now rooted even though I had applied the latest OTA update from rogers prior attempting this method. Only tricky part was getting into recovery mode.. it should be "Hold the Volume UP & power buttons at the same time."
So will using this method to root and unlock bootloader cause me to lose the OTA function?
I'm on Rogers e971 with latest OTA update. I would like root so i can get back to using Titanium, but i'm not sure if i want to sacrifice my ability to run future OTA updates.

As soon as official updates are released, there's always a flashable .zip released within a week. Hell, were flashing the official update based on the Korean version of the software AND hardware, which are both slightly different. I wouldn't worry too much about ota's, lol.
