Every time I want to use Odin I have to uninstall the Samsung driver and re install it, then plug my phone in while it's on to instal the drivers, then unplug, shut my phone off and plug back I'm to get Odin to recognize my phone. Why is that?
Also before they installed as Samsung lte drivers, this time they weren't.

I keep getting the Samsung USB cdc failed. Now I can't even get that, I get unknown driver, or even mxl86 driver failed or something like that. I don't understand. Now every time I try to go into Odin mode it hours into twrp or reboots.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Use usbdeview and remove all your samsung drivers that way. This will completely remove everything that was installed to each usb port that relates to your phone.
Uninstall the drivers too.
Now restart the computer for good measure.
Install the drivers.
Plug in your phone to the computer with it on and leave it there for a good 5-10, go run a mile or something.
You should have all the green checks.
Hopefully that helps

Ok, so i got odin to work for me a while back. I tried to do a friends phone tonight and it keeps telling me device not recognized when its in download mode. How would it work on mine and not his? I went throught his when i first did mine, and got it to work by shutting the phone down and plugging it in for about 30 seconds or so then going to d/l mode while still plugged in. All of a sudden it recognized my phone, installed more drivers, and i was able to flash away. Now with his phone, no matter what i try it doesnt recognize his phone.
Strange enough though, with odin open and his phone booted normally, i plugged it in, and odin said "added", then when i unplugged it, it said "removed". So odin found it while booted, but its not recognized when in d/l mode. Any suggestions?

This^^^^^^^^^ I have 2 phones, all of a sudden one would connect and the other wouldn't. I went into device manager on my computer and under samsung android (while bad phone was on) hit update drivers. It took like 20 minutes to find and load them all but it works now. Wierd thing is one phone shows up as F and the other as E on drives...but the moral is every phone is different.
It worked about 2 weeks ago however when i try to connect my phone now it wont recognize. Ive tried 3 different cables and two different computers. Ive also reinstalled the drivers many times. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

OK, basic troubleshooting:
1) Does it charge when you plug in power? (If so the port should be working on the phone.)
2) Does it show anything at all when you plug into the PC?
3) Did you check Device Manager and notice if any devices are disabled or showing as unknown?
1 basic question: what are you running (Stock, custom rom)?

Mb you should start fresh with SFHUB's EL29 w/ root. Probably an issue with AOKP. Or if you don't want to do all that maybe you can try a different kernel and see if that works.
Thats a good idea, but how would you go about doing that without using a pc? I cant get my computer to recognize the phone in download mode

You need to have your phone in download mode before you plug it in to your computer for Odin to access the com port. You don't plug in while in Android to use Odin. Vol-&power the volume+ to get into download mode then start Odin then connect phone. I noticed you were using dialer codes, they have no bearing on download mode, or Odin and since you have to be booted into android to use dialer codes I'm assuming you're trying to connect to Odin while in the OS and not download mode

Stupid question for sure, but I can't figure it out. Just got a refurb which came with fh13. Can't for the life of me figure out how to turn off usb storage mode. When I plug in via usb it gives me a storage mode and a camera mode, no other options. I have debugging enabled of course. What am I missing?

Pull down the notification bar when the phone is plugged in there should be an option to turn on usb debugging that you can select.

Don't I need usb debugging to odin/flash, etc?

I believe this is a driver issue... I'll report back. Maybe that's why the debug mode option is not presenting itself when I plug it in...

Please don't confuse using debugging mode being used to apply the auto root tool or using a one click. Debugging is not required for OC's or Odin.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Xparent SkyBlue Tapatalk 2
If you have debugging on when you plug in your phone it should recognize it. Then pull down the notification bar and select USB connected, then select turn on USB storage. Then transfer then files you need to. Yes USB debugging on. Here is some trouble shooting tips, reinstall drivers, change the USB cord, or change the port you are plugging into on the computer.

Yes I understand the difference between debugging and download mode. I just assumed you had to have usb debugging on for odin to work. Either way if it's not connecting to the computer correctly it'll cause problems. If I don't need debugging for odin to work then no worries, for now.
All drivers installed correctly (this time), restarted my computer between uninstall, install, plug in, etc, i still can't get a debugging mode option to pop up.
Aggrevating as ****.
Also, using the FH13 one click, I don't get past the "setup connection" step.... obviously there is a problem with the link between my computer and phone.

One suggestion, make sure your drivers are up to date. If you're running Kies, open it and make sure its updated. Or check and make sure you have the latest Sammy drivers.

I remember having a similar problem once before, something about 64 bit windows sucking with it's drivers. I've installed them directly from samsung a few times, installed kies only because I thought it might help. tried every combination of restart, tried 3 different usb cables, tried 3 different ports. LOL pissing me off, which is in turn pissing my girlfriend off which is in turn pissing me off even more because she wont shut up.

Absolutely. I run 64 bit on my work and 32 on my personal. My personal would work, my work wouldn't. Same cable. I ended up having to remove everything on the 64 and reinstalling. No explanation why.
Off subject, now on the 64 bit, i have to have my phone in dowload mode, plugged in to the laptop, THEN open Odin for the phone to be recognized.

I recently got a used T-Mobile S 2 and just tried to root it. The computer will not see the phone when I hook it up to the USB. I've tried the Odin method and it won't even register it's plugged in. I've installed and reinstalled kies 3 times and I've even tried just installing the drivers by themselves. Is there a way to root the phone without having to use the USB? I'm guessing the USB connector on the phone is bad even though it's charges just fine.

If it charges ur fine, is the device in DL mode? What is the procedure u are using, with this phone the only way to root it is Odin, or maybe adb but I'm not sure, and if u have kies installed on ur pc Odin won't see the phone I repeat remove kies, once ur rooted u will never use it again anyway kies interferes with Odin, make sure u have the OEM USB cord too...

I'm using the volume up+down with the power button to access the download screen with Odin and it never reads that the phone is plugged in. I've uninstalled Kies and still doesn't work. Now I've noticed that I can only go into the e3 recovery mode.

So the phone accesses doenlode mode? Try holding just the vol+vol- buttons and plugging it in to the USB while connected to PC, that should put u in DL mode, if not it might be ur port, have u tried all other ports and different usb wires? Sorry if my questions are trivial but I need all the info if I'm going to help

Yeah I've tried 3 different cables and 2 different computers. I'm leaning towards the USB Jack. I took the phone apart and found corrosion on the board towards the bottom so it looks like the phone has some water damage.

Thats most likely ur culprit then, it may be just corroded enough to not hit the right pins to push data through odin, u could try to replace the USB com, u can get one for around 30bucks online and its an easy fix if u have a lil knowledge, the bad news is without it rooting is next to impossible ...

I mean if u don't want to try the fix u could try rooting it through wireless adb but that's a long shot at best, just started using wireless adb an not even sure if its possible to root it like that but u could look into it...
