Trying to get emoji working - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So my girlfriend and I use emoji all the time, she has an iPhone I don't obviously. I've tried third party messaging apps but they feel clunky to me, I love the stock app. I'm running the latest nightly of cm10 and I've enabled emoji in my sms settings but the ones I used most frequent are still the android emoticons.
Is there a way to change them to look like regular emoji? I'm still pretty noobish to most of this stuff so pretend you're talking to a child
I'd post a pic but I can't since I'm new. Basically all the emoji look fine except for the ones that would normally be yellow faces on an iPhone are still the green android ones (as well as a few other obscure ones)

Try BlackBean Rom. The emoj are all like the ones in the iPhone and you can even send them!

No. The MMS is stock for now.
Thanks for the feedback, you will get quicker responces at RootzWiki but I am nice and will reply here too
There is an issue with SMS and mms on the 4G, and Adam Green (oxygen) is hopefully sending me a fix sometime today and I will then release a new beta with it included. Until then, like others said, use a 3rd party app if needed.

There isn't a disable lockscreen vibrations option, however I can look into making it obey the use haptic feedback option is settings for those who hate all feedback. I quite like it myself but if its wanted...
Also, if you like Carbon, show your support by voting in the RootzWiki developer phone handout for me, I could get a Sensation or a G2X (the other option is a NS but I have one). http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?t=2014

Great ROM! I've been using it for a couple of days now and it's been smooth sailing so far. I love the Quadrant Standard scores though, I get an average of 3400. This has to be the fastest ROM I've ever tested.
How's the battery life? That's what I'm more concerned about rather than e-pen quadrant scores. Thx.

On par with most other decent aosp roms, nothing special though from my experiences. That said, I'm a heavy user so your mileage may vary.

Vellamo tends to be between 515 and 615 depending on cpu setting(1.0 -> 1.2) and Autokiller settings(default -> Strict). Go with that, it's considerably more accurate way to benchmark.

[REQ] ICS Messaging app port

While looking at some ICS videos on youtube, it looks like the stock messaging app is pretty boss. I was wondering if anyone could port this to the DROID Inc 2. (Both rooted and un-rooted users). Even if it was only a theme for another messaging app, that would be good too. An inverted ICS messaging app would also be nice.
Thanks.
(Also, sorry if this is in the wrong category.)

Try this app from market 'ICS Messaging' by apptechbuzz, runs on all devices from eclair to ICS
Or use GOSMS and get the ICS Theme for it.... Best messaging app for Android in my opinion......

yeah, and to add to that, the app doesn't have an enter key
Ya the stock app is pretty terrible, use GoSMS with the ICS theme instead

gingerbread or ics??? whats the difference

ive tried every ics rom and i dont like them.... i just feel gingerbread is better..but can anyone explain the difference between them? and what do u like better.."AND IM NOT SAYING THE ICS ROMS ARE BAD" i just prefer gingerbread thats all...
Nothing really just ui changes transitions **** like that other than that I like you agree gb right now is better but wait till these devs get kernel source that's when the magic happens

This article will tell you the differences: http://www.androidauthority.com/android-2-3-gingerbread-vs-android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-37742/
I don't like that article they had an experiment with 2 variables
Phones and os versions
Gnex will obviously have better scores than the nexus s

As of right now I agree with you.... GB roms run way faster and smoother in compared to ics. I do however like some of the options you have with ics...
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
well the reason you prolly like gb is because its official ics roms are based off leaks they are leaks for a reason still not quite ready =(
for me, it's also about the app versions...
gmail on ics... love it.
gtalk on ics, multiple logins... love it.
and ics itself? the differences are not obvious, in some ways...
swipe to remove notifications...
system settings...
the app drawer w/ widgets...
the stock browser. man oh man. whata improvement.
at first, i didn't think much of them, until forced to flash back to gb for a day. then i realized the subtle things i was missing.

Definitely subtle changes!!! I didn't notice much upgrading, been using aokp on the galaxy s. But when I got this phone and just ran gingerbread that's when I noticed it. I'm missing a lot of features of it like silly faces on the video cam, tablet like widgets and definitely the browser that's able to save sites for offline reading.

Emoji

Anyone know why or just wonder why Android still can't universally see emoji even in ICS or JB without changing font files? I'm aware that stock ICS and JB have emoji built into their srock messaging app now but why can't all ics see emoji in other apps not just text messaging?

Any rom based off of cm 10 has the support for them although not in color yet. Eventually it'll probably be added in

I have an HTC Evo rom with a messaging app that has iOS style, color emoji baked in. The rom was ported from the Galaxy anyway so I don't understand why I can't get it to work. I've only had this phone for 2 days but I feel like the Evo was so much easier.

Are you trying to flash the rom or extract the messaging apk and load it that way? It probably won't work because it's designed for the OG EVO. Sense and TouchWiz are different.

Edit: The app does work, and so does the emoji. But because the apk is different than the one that came with the rom it doesn't show up in the launcher, just the app tray. But I guess this will be my project for my first SGS3 rom.

It's messaging.apk but it was from an AOSP rom. I installed the AOKP Jellybean rom and it has native emoji in the messaging app.

Any ROMs out there with native emoji support?

The title is pretty self explanatory, I'm looking for a ROM with native emoji support. I'm not talking about just messaging because I know there are a good number of ROMs with emojis in the messaging app. I'm asking for a ROM that would display emojis (not android emojis) in things like twitter, instagram, facebook. If anyone can point me to one that would be great.
Also, if this is a stupid and/or futile question please don't be mean to me I'm just asking!
The only roms that I've ever seen with native emoji support, without needing to install a mod / app, are Sense roms, and there are none of those here :ninja:

If I remember correctly, AOKP does. It use to have it to where there was a button just for iphoneish emojis. Back on ICS milestone 6.
