When you change kernel on your phone (running arhd) you flash the boot.img and in recovery you flash the modules did that when changeing from stock to faux. Now im gonna update from arhd 9.6 to 9.7 and going back to stock kernel so im wondering do i need to flash stock kernel modules for arhd after updating version?
I'm not 100%, but I think when you flash a new rom, all kernel mods are wiped also. So I assume you'd need to refresh your kernel and mods afterwards

Modules, no you don't since they are already in the ARHD rom.
However, since you are now running faux kernel, you must flash boot. Img inside arhd rom zip file using fastboot from a pc for the rom to boot. Otherwise boot loop.

Just flash the kernel of the new rom.. Unless the new rom contains the same kernel your using now

you do NOT use odin with htc phones. you can run .exe RUU files on your pc(similar concept to odin),or you can flash IMG files in HBOOT.
there are a couple things you can do:
1)flash a new rom in recocovery. remember youll have to flash GAPPS seperately with most AOSP roms. look for custom roms here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=559&order=desc
2)flash a stock rom in HBOOT or as an RUU. shipped roms can be found here: http://www.shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Passion (Nexus One)
Just a quick Q, Had my One X for a few days and have rooted and flashed recovery to my phone. As we have to flash kernels 'boot.img' seperately from the actual rom zip, does that mean if you flashed only the rom zip you would still be on the stock kernel and it would boot? Or if you prefered one particular kernel you would just flash the devs ROM zip?

Custom ROMs usually (always?) come with a Kernel, so if you want to run a specific kernel that's not part of that particular ROM, then you have to flash it separately AFTER you flash the ROM package. That will overwrite the included kernel.

I have the IMG , but then when I flash it on my Rom , it didn't stick and is it becuz I don't have the zip to flash in recovery ? Can any body provide me both for cdma ?

Here is the stock kernel. You just have to flash it in fastboot (fastboot flash boot stockboot.img) , there is no zip to flash. You can not flash a kernel from the recovery due to the phone having s-on. All kernels and recoveries have to flashed through fastboot. Keep in mind the stock kernel will only work with the stock or stock based roms.
Hello everyone. I am new to the HTC One (m7wlv) but not new to htc or rooting/flashing etc. I am s-off and my bootloader is unlocked, and i am running the stock rom rooted and debloated. I want to get a custom kernel on here, but i cant seem to get any to stick. By that i mean i have tried several, and they all flash with no errors. But when i reboot, the kernel is still stock and unchanged. I have tried all three different recoveries, ive tried regular flashing and flashing with htc dumlock. What am i missing here? Can you not use a custom kernel with a stock rooted rom? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The rom is just the ota 2.10.605.1 that i rooted and debloated.

You need an insecure Boot.img in your current rom, to allow it to be overwritten.
My Stock rom has an insecure Boot.img in it.
You could fastboot flash that Boot.Img and then flash the custom one.
You should be able to just fastboot flash the new kernel, if it is packed into a Boot.Img.(most custom kernels aren't)
If it's packed in Anykernel style, then you will have to repack it into a Boot.img from your rom, or do what I suggested above and then flash it.
Essentially you are on an unrooted, secure stock Boot.Img that will not allow for the kernel to be overwritten.
Chances are, that the modules did flash though and you probably ended up just breaking wifi...and maybe more.

i would recommend backup up user data and flash Santod debloat stock 4.3 and everything should be good from there.

I installed Elemental X kernel on my M8 running android M but would like to go back to stock kernel.
How can I go back to stock kernel?
Restore the TWRP backup you made before flashing the kernel; which you should always do before such mods.
Otherwise, extract the boot.img from suitable OTA, RUU, or appropriate custom ROM zip. Flash with fastboot.

Will reinstalling SuperSU 2.66 beta restore the kernel to stock? I reinstalled it and have noticed that sweep 2 sleep does not work after doing that? I installed Elemental X for that functionality specifically.

I believe recent SuperSU versions will give you the choice of "systemless" root (no changes to system) as well as "traditional". For the traditional root, it will detect if a modified boot.img (kernel) is needed in order to get root, than replace the boot.img accordingly. So in that case, yes the kernel is replaced. Not full stock, but a stock kernel modified to allow root.
