Before you start..
Flashing between Mimicry versions will preserve gapps. You only need to flash gapps when installing Mimicry for the first time! If your Google account is missing after flashing a new ROM version though, it's because gapps was erased somehow.
Before you report any issues you need to read the FAQ/Known Issues section below. Still want to report an issue? Follow these steps first..
Analyze the problem and try everything you can to find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert settings you have made, factory reset, wipe app data, etc. Assume the issue is on your end and try your best to isolate it. Before you do report an issue keep in mind this is a developer thread -- collect evidence, do some research and try to always provide a logcat by recreating the problem as reliably as possible.

== Installation FAQ / Known Issues ==
= FAQ =
Q) I'm coming from <some rom>, do I have to wipe?
A) If the ROM is AOSP ICS/CM9 based you should be okay with flashing the rom zip and gapps without having to wipe anything manually. The ROM will automatically wipe /system and your caches for you. That said, always make a backup and if you encounter app FCs, lag or any general weirdness, try wiping the offending app's data and/or wipe your /data entirely.
Q) I'm upgrading from an older version of Mimicry, what do I do?
A) Everything said in the above question applies here too, except as of version 1.4.0, you no longer have to flash gapps when upgrading Mimicry. Aroma will remember your settings from previous installs and present those as your defaults. Even if you update launcher versions in between Mimicry versions, things should function as expected. Unless you wipe /data, the only thing that will get overwritten are custom Virtuous OC Daemon frequencies/governors. Your apps and settings should all remain intact
Q) Okay I didn't wipe and now I'm encountering issues like lag or FCs!!
A) Ah, tough luck. First try to fix permissions in recovery and reboot. If that doesn't work you need to reboot into recovery & wipe /data. Once booted you may restore user apps from titanium backup or a similar app. You did make a backup, didn't you?
Q) I'm noticing strange slowdowns with apps and/or errors not encountered in previous versions!
A) First of all, disable zram if you have it enabled. Alternatively, this may also be caused by apps needing their data cleared. Go to Settings->Apps->All, find the app and clear its data. Some apps are just poorly designed for ICS. The Facebook app particularly has been known to cause lag and excessive battery drain for a lot of users.
Q) I wiped /data but I'm encountering lag and weird issues anyway!
A) This is rare but it can happen. First off, make sure your partitions are ext4 by downloading 4EXT from the Market and flashing the 4EXT recovery. If you are new to ICS you must do a complete reformat of all your partitions (excluding sdcard obvsly). Second, if you restored apps from a backup it may be their doing. Try a fresh wipe and then restore your apps in small batches with appropriate testing inbetween to determine if they're the cause. Lastly, wiping data from the Market app (Play Store) has been known to cure lag felt after updating installed apps.
Q) I just flashed and battery seems to be acting funny or draining rapidly
A) Mimicry IS CM9/Andromadus. There's nothing functionally different in the backend to cause different battery consumption. Please read this post to gain some insight and maybe help diagnose what could be draining your battery, regardless of ROM.
Q) Camera app <some app> doesn't work!
A) Due to the hacks implemented to get the camera working with ICS and the 2.6 kernel you will find that many camera apps do not work or will not work properly. It's recommended that you stick to the stock camera app until we migrate to the 3.0 kernel. If using Instagram, make sure you disable their built in camera.
Q) My WiFi doesn't seem to be working after a new install!
A) Users of EdKeys' WiFi Calling [link] and .19 Radio lib-RIL/GPS .so updater [link] have reported this on occasion. At the moment it's not 100% clear why this can happen, but please discuss appropriately in his respective threads. European/Asian country users need to consult this thread specifically. If you've tried methods & tips described in those threads and still can't solve your issues, re-flash the ROM and choose 'No' to either WiFi Calling or the .19 Radio lib-RIL/GPS .so updater options. As a final option, it has been reported that an app called Wifix [link] can also fix this issue.
Q) After flashing I'm stuck at the HTC logo screen!
A) This is likely the result of a bad download. Check your downloaded md5sum hash against the one listed next to the download link above. If the md5sum matches up then it may be because you're coming from 2.3.X without reformatting your partitions to ext4. One method is to download and install 4EXT Recovery and choose the option to format all partitions (except sdcard). This is similar to the Superwipe method except has been reported to work in cases where Superwipe did not.
Q) Everything is great except for issues A, B & C, help!
A) Since the Vision has no official ICS release (nor an official CM9 release), there are the occasional glitch with this, and every other ICS rom. The first thing you need to do is check the issues list below and on the Andromadus tracker. If it's not on the traker, add it. Be patient, there are a number of people working tirelessly to fix the issues and make ICS on our devices as perfect as possible.
Q) I can't send/receive MMS and/or voicemail indication doesn't work!
A) Check your APNs. Make sure you're using the right one and that the fields match what you had in CM7 or what other people have posted as working for your provider. Also beware that there is a known issue with EdKeys' WiFi Calling package where MMS over WiFi Calling is broken.
= Issues =
Most everything is working, however you may encounter some minor issues. Check the Andromadus issue tracker as well as the list below..
– Text may randomly appear corrupted or glitched. This is a known bug [link] and affects every version of ICS for the HTC Vision. Do not report this bug, as a solution is being worked towards. Please try to capture any log cats or comment on the bug via the report on the website. A temporary solution to this is to wait (it'll go away eventually), or enable Long Press Back to Kill App in the Developer Settings and simply kill the glitched app when it happens. It often seems to happen shortly after rebooting or flashing a new ROM.
– FM Radio is only functional using certain apps. Wide success has been reported with Spirit Radio [link]
– Camcorder does not record in 720p (issue affects all ICS ROMs)
– Wireless 802.11n is disabled in the kernel due to an issue with n mode dropping the wifi connection silently from certain APs (affects all ICS roms)
– WiFi has been known to be buggy or disabled after flashing EdKeys' WiFi Calling [link] or .19 Radio lib-RIL/GPS .so updater [link] packages. Please discuss appropriately in the linked threads. Re-flashing the ROM will allow you to de-select either of those packages should you be unable to solve your issues. There is a FAQ question specifically aimed towards this issue that provides additional information/links.
– You may experience the occasional slow-down. From experience, this is almost always caused when the Market or Titanium Backup restore an app. Another reported cause is the browser loading flash heavy websites (cough Adobe cough), as well as non-stock camera apps.
– Some users have reported issues w/ wifi -> data (after 2h) not working. This seems to be based on radio/RIL and can be solved by flashing EdKeys' RIL matcher package [link]
– Some users have reported issues w/ GPS. This also seems to be based on radio/RIL, the same link above should resolve such issues.
– Overclocking to >=1.7GHz may result in the occasional freeze or lockup. Use at your own risk.It's important to point out the distinction between Mimicry, Audacity and CM9.
First and foremost, issues known and common to Andromadus should be discussed and reported in the Andromadus Audacity thread [link].
This thread should be used for support of features and functionality unique to Mimicry. The reason for this is to lessen the splintering of bugs unique to the ROMs and centralize issue discussion with workarounds and solutions. If you do find an issue, the first thing you should do after following the appropriate steps in re-creating it and making sure it's not just the result of a dirty flash is visit the Andromadus issue tracker [link]

== Oh Great, Another ROM??? ==
Let me get on my soapbox here..
This may come across as righteous, arrogant or even just plain unnecessary. You've been warned!
As a main (and relatively new) Andromadus developer it has saddened me to see the once vibrant G2/Desire Z community reduced to primarily winzip devs and kangers. There are some notable exceptions. In regards to AOSP-like ROMs, the unofficial "CM9" ROM by jerl92 and the unofficial AOKP ROM by adamz667 are both excellent and both authors have put in a lot of hard work, as well actual development effort.
Literally every single other [ICS] ROM you'll find is a version of those two ROMs or Andromadus. All 3 ROMs are open and yet no ROM "dev" compiles from source. They're all versions of the three aforementioned ROMs, unzipped with APKs and framework/prop hacks applied.
Not to completely marginalize those individuals' effort, as I'm sure most of the time they put real time and thought into what they were doing, but those creations actually offer very little lasting value to the development community for the Vision. In some cases it's actually harming the community by splintering support for the base ROM and prolonging issues that have been fixed in newer versions of the original ROM, but are unbeknownst to users of the kang.
Most of those "devs" could be putting out flashable zip customization packages that offer the exact same "enhancements" and additions that their ROMs do and yet they do not. This would solve the fragmented bug report/squashing issue, as well as allow their add-on packs to be applied across a broader ROM base. Cyanogen himself put it very well in an old post of his. Sagely advice indeed.
My goal with Mimicry is to provide actual new development and functionality to Android ICS users. I want feedback from the community and I want a ROM where new features are implemented in a scheduled, reliable manner. I've been listening to the few alpha testers very closely and implementing new features and ideas from them, and I hope to bring that to even more interested people with this public release.
Lastly, any major bug fixes or small feature additions I apply to Mimicry will also be merged into the main Andromadus repositories. This fork exists because the new work/code being done is too much of a departure from the standard CM9 source code that we sync with. I solely maintain these forks and merge them into the Andromadus/CM9 branches myself with every new Mimicry release.

After installing ROM and GAPPS then selecting "reboot System now" in CWM the phone reboots back into CWM. Doesn't even go to ROM's boot screen.

THIS IS BASED ON MSSMISON's ORIGINAL ROM for Samsung Galaxy TAB
Since mssmison is busy, i created this thread for the continuation of his work, it has been so many days and weeks since it was updated,
I have contacted mssmison and mentioned this, we've been closely communicating in the background.

About a week ago, I installed the 1.10.21. The only deal breaker for me was that my bluetooth keyboard couldn't connect with only this rom. It does with the rest of the rom available. Just letting you know.

I just updated from 10.23 and my launcher kept force closing. I managed to get to the application settings, so i could clear the launcher data, that solved the force closes.
Two things I noticed: The battery icon disappeared. Top bar option works, but graphical and percentage wont.
And how can I change the window transition animation? Its making me dizzy when switching through lot of windows. ;-)

when im in pc ill link, thanks buddy, i think its also in mssmisons thread, 2.6.35.7 or something in github, i dont know if its the standard kernel.
Sorry cause i havent touch and toy with that kernel since day one. Ill find out more when on pc

1. Ill look at it
2. Ill upload the default animation today in the sgt updates folder

The BOCA rom has wi-fi tethering / hotspot functioning right?
This one does not from the start, error turning on, my first logcat during that time was the lib files, but then im beginning to understand more, ha ha. i think its also with the kernel from the beginning of the roms release.
The Battery Icon on the status bar doesn't work.

For all people saying that the battery icon is not visible, just change status bar color with the apposite miui app. Try to use black instead of white, because the battery icon is white! White+white=can't see **** captain! [cit.]
I have'nt said that the icon is not visible but that has many bugs! The only way to see is in "topbar" mode. Neither in graphical that in percentage works.
More: when I set it in percentage mode I can see the icon only in charging but with a big "?" on it!

the default framework is the default.
the clock is centered because of system ui not framework, and because of extended settings which is in the rom, launcher is modded base from andy, systemui and miui control panel added.
the battery icon not showing is not because of framework. it maybe something else which i need to see when i did the mod when i am on pc to see logcat

maybe a good thing would be
stock framework
stock launcher
stock systemui
no 4 way reboot
then all else find on your own
realize too that all these are coming from s different model, the i9000, need to mod some apks to make it work with sgt.
let me recompile those stock apks from i9000, that should fix the batt bar, if it is not is desire and other roms as bug.

Yep, based on AOSP.
BTW, the rom is english and chinese, but there's still a fair number of translations to be made for english. I can take a crack at some using google translator, but I'm not really sure it will be worth it.
For those that are interested in the look of DianXin, but don't want the chinese, the DX-Home.apk is compatible with AOKP, and I'm sure any other ICS-based rom, as well as some of the widgets and other apps. If there is any interest, I can create a zip to flash over your favorite ICS rom to give you the look and feel of DianXin.
Anyways, let me know what you guys think. Ported this mostlly just to see if I could lol.

Wow this is definitely different . A lot of the extended settings are in Chinese and the clock/weather widget says I'm in china (explained in op) market doesn't work you have to go into terminal emulator and....

GSM is not working, even if you can have signal with *#*#4636#*#* but no data because ROM doesn t has a GSM menu.

To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually. Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course. Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on. This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size. You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to. You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot. You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode. Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself. This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.

The algorithm to extract the actual layout containers from apk files works more precise and can reveal more than before. there will still be a few apps left who do that layout stuff in java - we will add an override button for that, but in the meantime you can edit /system/etc/paranoid/properties.conf .layout=360 for phone-like UI, 600 for phablet, 720 = tablet, 1280 = super huge tablet

I have already got this kind of error while on "normal" CM10
clearing app's data didnt help.
I had to reflash the rom with a full wipe to solve it.

Chose your statusbar style, regular PhoneUI, Nexus7-PhabletUI or a combined TabletUI systembar. Choose from a variety of toggles and toggle layouts, switches, holo-buttons, toggles or icon-text-toggle rows.
Get a ton of features on top of Cyanogenmod’s catalogue. Dabble with opacity, see-through options, eventualy colors, etc.

Hybrid mode is the heart and soul of paranoidandroid. Forget tablet mode or build.prop changes! Hybrid mode will not break your phone, your apps, your market, nothing will shrink or become unusable. Hybrid mode means you can control the size and the actual layout of any app individually. Keep in mind, apps bring their own layouts, they will display according to your device. That’s why apps like gmail, settings, youtube, camera, chrome, etc., transform completely when you run them on a tablet. This rom allows you to choose whatever layout you like best, we don’t fool around with DPI, we extract the actual layouts from your apk’s and you select them with a tap. Apply and you’re done. No reboot necessary. You can target anything: apps, system components, widgets, launchers, keyboards, statusbars, lockscreen, etc.
Finetune your workspace or apply hybrid settings to all your apps if you don’t like to set them up individually. Individual settings will still override this so you can still get the look you want.
For ease of use you can access hybrid properties in your recents view, this will allow you to quickly review changes. Basic things like recents, toggles, etc. have been made usable across all UI modes.

If you have an issue and you want to call our attention, here's what you do:
1. Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
2. Search this thread and Cyanogenmods aswell (its our base) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
3. If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT ...
... stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
... explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
... collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

i just installed this, full wipe-cache, dalvik, system, data. I'm using simon's SuperSick kernel version 1.1(get better battery life with that one). I keep getting a force close on the camera when trying to open it. Also, the Hwa settings force closes on boot and when I try to open it. Aside from that issue, love speed and smoothness.
Thanks for your replys guys. I'll be working on 1ce's newest update soon which solves a lot more stuff. Not sure why the cam isn't working right, hopefully the next version works OK.
You can use a 3rd party camera app from Google play like camera ICS. It should solve problems till I update.

Looking forward to the update. i tried camera ICS and get the same force close. The other camera apps I've tried, Camera FX, Line Camera, Camera MX, all lock the home screen in landscape mode unless you uncheck autorotate. Hopefully you can fix the issue. Thanks for porting this to our device.
forgot to add, its hard for me to get things going on the weekends, my phone is mission critical all weekend. during the week, i dont need to field any calls, so im going to start the next port today and get it all tested out. hopefully it should be ready before mid week, please dont hold me to that though.
ill make sure the next port has all the camera issues solved, i was looking through 1ce's work over on the gsm side, and they dont seem to be having the issue (or nobody is talking about it lol) so it should be easy to fix.

Ninja edit: new January 3rd build uploading now. Camera works for me, camcorder still fcs like every other jb build we have. Apps in the market can give you video recording. Hwa settings still fcs, ignore it or remove the apk from /system/app if you would like. Link will be in 2nd post again. Happy hacking!

Please clue me in to what your doing to have working video recording lol I've been in wondering how to get that working since I started running jb. Every jb ROM for me has fcs when I press the record button. 3rd party apps seem to work but I have never been able to get the one in the ROM to record. If you can help me get it working solid I'll give you credits in the op.
I'll delete the hwa settings also, probably the next update for that.

For cam recorder - i have no clue. maybe some libs that you need to change? what does the logcat say?
awesome that you have this up an running! i am glad that now the cdma side will benefit from this rom by using your work.
Everything is working great so far except for PA Settings. I can set between Phone, Phablet and Tablet UI but when I go to change the default sizes everything remains the same and none of the sliders work. Play store and a bunch of apps are at HUGE display sizes.
When I port the ROMs over, I don't change the sensor files or anything. Just APNs and Telephony part in build.prop.
Changing the name from PrimoU to C causes you to have to replace even more files. The phone will have PrimoU file but looking for C files which aren't there, so you'll have to add those in as well.
So I leave my phone as PrimoU. Not a big deal

Andromadus SlimBean Notes
It's important to first start off by saying that this ROM is not an Official SlimBean release. Since the vision is so old, and the device branches such a departure from the ones SlimRoms maintains, it requires special commits and things that would make it very difficult to integrate with the rest of the codebase. Keeping that in mind, issue reports should be mentioned here in this thread or to myself personally.
Speaking of how old the vision is, though, that's a very important thing to remember when running this rom. A few notes on the processing power of this device in relation to JellyBean:
You may be limited by which apps you can run and how well they will run
Too many apps that use background processes will damper your experience with the ROM
All my testing so far has been on a somewhat minimal setup. Not too many widgets, no notoriously bad apps abusing wakelock and killing my battery and things have been quite pleasant. Coming from the S3/S4 I was prepared for a devastatingly slow experience and was surprised and delighted that that simply wasn't the case. That said, you may not have the same wonderful experience that I have on Andromadus SlimBean, but keep in mind that this ROM uses the Andromadus device branches and kernel, and as such will likely suffer from the same upstream issues.
Finally, if you are reporting issues, make sure you can reproduce it on a completely clean build and always include a logcat or last_kmsg for reboots. If possible try to reproduce the issue on Flinny's CM10.1/fyodor's AOSP builds. If you can pinpoint a specific issue on this ROM that isn't present on Flinny's or fyodor's, that goes a long way to getting it fixed quickly!
Known Issues
EGL visual glitches may occur on landscape orientation change. They are minor, rare, and can be backed out of.

Yeesh, that was exhausting!
I figured out the issue and a new build has been tested and uploaded. To anybody who did manage to download the previous build (and to my beta testers), please update to this one as your su is broken in a few ways!
Sorry to everybody who waited to download this, but I'm at least glad I caught it before you guys flashed it!

Only bug have in 4 days :
The developper option menu force close even if I've taped the build number many times.
NB : I didn't full wiped before flashing from CM 10.1.. I know, it's bad, but I didn't have time , I wanted to do a quick test but I stayed on it!!
Edit : the slimroms site is out of line?
I wanted to look into the add ons...
Edit 2 : I did a full wipe and clean install, and it's ok.
i found small bugs.
pulldown noticebar, mobile network don't on/off. the drawer roll is slow。

You definitely need to full wipe coming from CM. That FC is because you didn't.

I don't have a sim on my vision anymore to test the mobile network toggle, but the drawer animation is very quick and smooth here.

this rom is real smoother！
but i found between app to widget，and between widget to widget slipping need 2~3 times sometimes.my bad english！！sorry

I am so confused. people seem to be saying battery life is good. But I can barely get 2 hours screen on time.
Have I done something wrong?
Yes. Download betterbatterystats and see what's using your battery. It's almost never the rom or kernel, it's always apps and background processes. You should be getting 3.5 to 4h screen on time, but as I said, the apps you use and the quality of mobile reception can play a big part.
